00:00 Hello there, Lee Sobot at the Yorkshire Evening Post here from Ellen Road where Leeds United
00:06 have bounced back from the weekend's defeat against Southampton with a 1-0 win against
00:11 Queens Park Rangers in a game where frankly they should have been out of sight and ultimately
00:16 what we got in the end was quite a nervy conclusion really and also a fair amount of drama with
00:22 a late red card for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic which in itself is very dramatic because ultimately
00:29 it seems like he didn't even make contact with Patrick Bamford who was clean through
00:33 on goal. Boss Gareth Ainsworth saying afterwards that Bamford has basically admitted that there
00:40 was no contact and he was just trying to get out of the way so drama with that one but
00:46 ultimately here it's three points for Leeds which is what they needed but there's a bit
00:50 of a theme continuing here in the sense that yet again they just didn't take enough chances.
00:54 It didn't matter really in the end in terms of the scoreline, well in terms of the result
00:58 anyway in the three point haul but it might well have done but for a very good save, instinctive
01:03 save really right at the death from Milan Melie, QPR hardly threatened at all, they
01:07 did get better in the second half, they were awful in the first half, they had zero threat
01:11 really and Leeds should have been home and hosed by then but when it's 1-0 you never
01:16 know and all it takes is one chance, one goal and they might well have ended up leaving
01:20 with a draw. They did it in the end and they went to 103 minutes with the added time but
01:25 it was way back in the ninth minute that the only goal of the game arrived and that
01:29 was through Krysantzia Somerville with a simple but clinical enough finish in the centre of
01:33 the box but that came off the brilliant work from Gio Junior Routier who was again absolutely
01:37 excellent and he just looked like a class above really. Lots of Leeds players looked
01:41 good tonight, Sam Byron had a very good game as well, Ethan Ampadu was very good in centre
01:44 midfield, I thought Jadon Antony did pretty well on his full debut for Leeds, could go
01:49 right for the team with lots of good performances, Joel Pirot was pretty quiet, struggled to
01:53 get going but Routier was brilliant at all games, fantastic turns and tricks and just
01:58 leaving men for dead and got himself way down the left, sent in across for Somerville and
02:04 it was a simple enough finish but he stuck it away and that was that. They should have
02:07 very quickly added to the tally with Joe Roden sending a diving header wide from close range,
02:12 that was a big chance. There were other good ones, Somerville saw a shot blocked, there
02:17 were a few more after the break, mainly in the first half really but Leeds were well
02:20 on top. As I say, QPR did improve, double change at the break and there was one save
02:25 Melie made from Elias Scherr which was easy enough but at the end that could well have
02:31 been 1-1. So the moral of the tale here is they're going to have to take the chances
02:34 a bit more I think but ultimately it was about bouncing back which they have done, they needed
02:38 a response. The win has put them up six places in the table to six which is obviously into
02:42 the play-offs. It's going to be a big battle to get into the top two, it's a long way to
02:45 go but obviously at the minute Leicester and Ipswich are showing no signs of stopping
02:49 so what that does mean is Leeds have got to keep going themselves. It's three points here
02:52 tonight, on to Bristol City at Ellen Road at the weekend, could well do with winning
02:55 that one as well. Six points out of six would be a good end to what started as a bad week.
02:58 Cheers for now.
