Meaning of the lyrics:
A bountiful catch!
No temple compares to Zuiganji in Matsushima.
A bountiful catch!
The sea lies before, the mountains behind, this is Komatsubara.
A bountiful catch!
Looking west and east, Matsushima and Toshima come into view.
A bountiful catch!

Description:
Tairyō utaikomi is a suite of songs that were originally different min’yō. Saitarabushi is the most famous song in the Tairyō utaikomi. The song title was later associated with the fictional character Saitarō, but there is no actual connection. Because of this notation, the song is sometimes called Saitarōbushi. The lyrics follow a 5-7-5 phoenic unit. Songs in the same group are "Kesenzaka", "Yuriage tairyōbushi", "Haragama tairyō iwaiuta", "Anekomosa", etc., but the original song is a song of coin minting. This recording was made when the vocalist was 80 years old. The shamisen player in Saitarabushi is the video editor's sister, Junko.
