00:00It's so much better, you guys. I would say you little Gen Z girlies are so lucky.
00:05We had to go through for you, you know, we millennials had to fight our way for you guys.
00:13Hi everyone, welcome back to Episode 6 of Art of Beauty Season 4.
00:17Today, I have a very special guest with me.
00:20I have Grace and we've known each other for quite some time.
00:23This is Grace and if you're on TikTok, she goes by glamwithgracey.
00:27Hi guys.
00:29Thank you for having me, Amanda.
00:30Thanks so much for coming. We're so excited to have you here on the show.
00:34And how are you doing today? You look great.
00:36Thank you. I just came from the salon.
00:38Oh, perfect. No wonder she looks good. Her hair is all done.
00:42So today we're going to talk about something really interesting.
00:44We're going to talk about makeup and skincare hybrids.
00:47And I know you do a lot of reviews, especially on TikTok.
00:50You try a lot of things, you get a lot of PR, you go for a lot of events.
00:53So I am sure you've come across this whole new breed of products
00:59where we see a lot of makeup and skincare being intertwined amongst each other.
01:05So we're just going to talk a little bit about a little bit of that.
01:09And the first question I have for you is,
01:11have you tried any of these makeup skincare hybrids?
01:15Yes, a plenty. I'm pretty sure like this year,
01:18I'm not sure if you've seen a lot of the new launches,
01:22especially from international brands.
01:24They do a lot of crossover between makeup and skincare,
01:28especially these makeup brands.
01:30I realized that for foundations, especially,
01:33there's a lot of skincare ingredients which I'm so excited about
01:36because I'm a huge skincare girly.
01:39Okay, so are you more of a skincare girl or makeup girl?
01:42Definitely skincare.
01:43Really?
01:44Yes.
01:44Wow. Okay.
01:45I think I chose this one.
01:48I feel like a lot of us started out with makeup
01:50and then slowly going on to skincare girlies now.
01:55But just a little bit more about you.
01:58Maybe you could tell the audience a little bit about yourself,
02:00how you started, how you got where I am now.
02:04Yeah, exactly.
02:05Okay. So I started off as a beauty blogger because that was 10 years ago.
02:11And that was all the rage.
02:12That was what we knew about last time.
02:14So it was my hobby at first.
02:17And why beauty?
02:19Because I saw there was a huge demand and there was a lot of clients.
02:22So, of course, I pounced.
02:24I just apportioned, right?
02:25So being one of the first few beauty bloggers in the scene,
02:29I'm one of the younger ones at the time.
02:32And then Instagram came on and then I hopped onto Instagram and now onto TikTok.
02:37So in the transition of this period,
02:40I would say that I started off more like writing stuff,
02:44more photography, more writing.
02:46And as Instagram grew, photography skills had to be improved.
02:50So that was where I was at maybe like eight years ago, maybe.
02:55And then more recently on TikTok, especially after MCO,
03:01I hopped onto TikTok, not because I was looking at all the trends,
03:06but actually TikTok approached me at first.
03:08Really?
03:09TikTok Malaysia, they approached me asking me like,
03:12I see you're very active on Instagram.
03:16Do you want to go onto TikTok?
03:17We can provide you with traffic.
03:19I'm like, okay, this sounds interesting.
03:21And I'm like, okay.
03:22So I joined that little program where they incubate us,
03:26this Instagram community and then go onto TikTok.
03:28And then I started on TikTok actually in August 2022.
03:33I remember vividly.
03:34So it's already after MCO, right?
03:37So at that point of time, I was kind of active here and there
03:41because they give us boost of traffic, but that was only for three months.
03:45So it was not like forever, you know?
03:46So if you want to continue on, then you are on your own.
03:49Right.
03:49And then I tried live streaming, which is very new in the market in Malaysia,
03:54especially because we don't have a lot of live streamers for beauty, right?
03:59So me being a new adapter to a lot of things,
04:02so I just tried my hands on and that was where I am last year.
04:05And this year I was more, I would say, serious about it.
04:10And I can see growth, definitely.
04:13Wow, that is amazing.
04:14That is a real career progression, I would say.
04:16And all these platforms are just so different from one another.
04:19And, you know, it's crazy how you've hopped and progressed through
04:24all these different platforms throughout your career.
04:27It's honestly like, wow, an accomplishment.
04:29It's definitely very inspiring to watch.
04:32Yeah, because I remember following you really, really early on,
04:35like back in the blog days, I remember great.
04:38So it's nice to see how you've, you know, kind of evolved to do this, you know.
04:44Somebody who is not talking online and somebody who is super talkative
04:48and you didn't really know me, my personality back then behind these photos,
04:51because you can't really see personality through photos.
04:54Because on Instagram, we have to be aesthetic.
04:56We have to be like all perfect.
04:58But on TikTok, you can be like raw without makeup on.
05:01Yeah.
05:01It's like, I just woke up like this kind of look.
05:03Right.
05:04Yeah.
05:04Yeah.
05:04You get to try a lot of stuff.
05:05And you just mentioned like on, for example, like TikTok, you can go barefaced.
05:10And on Instagram, you know, you feel like the need to maybe put on a little bit more makeup,
05:14look a little bit more put together.
05:16So I'm sure you've tried a lot of hybrid products.
05:19I want to ask you, like, for example, have you ever gone on TikTok,
05:23maybe just using a tinted moisturizer, some sort of hybrid product or like,
05:27you know, a lip and cheek tint?
05:29You know, there's a lot of these hybrids.
05:30What are some of your favorites?
05:32Definitely cushions with skincare infused ingredients.
05:35Because like you have SPF there.
05:37Usually people say that, oh, you should reapply your sunscreen, right?
05:40Yeah.
05:40And how would you reapply your sunscreen when you already have makeup on?
05:43Right.
05:43Cushions are the answer.
05:44Definitely.
05:45Because cushions, they have somewhat of SPF over there.
05:47So whenever you want to reapply your sunscreen, you have your cushion right there.
05:51Right.
05:51Get coverage, a little bit of SPF.
05:54SPF 30 is good enough, especially if you're indoors.
05:56Yep.
05:57Yeah.
05:57Okay.
05:58So you're, so would you say you're more of a complexion girl?
06:01Like you really enjoy, you know, complexion products,
06:04especially like, you know, cushions, BB cream, CC cream.
06:07Yeah, definitely.
06:09So we're on the same, we're on the same page.
06:10Like I love complexion products too.
06:12I can see your cheeks always glowing.
06:14You too.
06:15But I think that's the beauty of like hybrid products.
06:18And I think especially like recently, right?
06:20Like there's this huge trend of like, you know, looking like you're not wearing any makeup.
06:25Like there's this whole, like I keep saying the clean girl trend,
06:28but it really is like what it is.
06:31But do you think that, you know, with crossover or hybrid products,
06:36there are any downsides?
06:38Like, do you find any cons to that?
06:41I do feel that it can make people somewhat lazy.
06:45Yeah.
06:46But that's the beauty of it, right?
06:48And I think like people may think, oh, okay.
06:50So my foundation has SPF.
06:52Do I skip my sunscreen?
06:53Actually the answer is no.
06:55You still want to put sunscreen on, right?
06:56Yeah.
06:57The SPF is there for you to reapply,
07:00not for you to, you know, have it as your main sun protection.
07:05So I guess the downside is people kind of forget.
07:08And yeah, so don't skip your sunscreen guys,
07:10even though you, you know, are planning on using like a tinted moisturizer or,
07:15you know, like a cushion foundation or anything like that.
07:18Okay.
07:18So we talked a little about like people being a little lazy with like,
07:22you know, their makeup or skincare routine because of hybrid products.
07:25But overall, do you think like these hybrid crossovers actually have,
07:31you know, do they enhance like people's, I guess, outlook and aesthetic?
07:36Do you think?
07:37Definitely because you don't get these kinds of products perhaps like 10 years ago.
07:42And people who used to wear a lot of makeup would get bad skin,
07:47would get breakouts.
07:48As compared to now, people who use a lot of makeup still get bad skin.
07:52Do you realize that?
07:53I mean, like during the time where maybe Kim Kardashian 10 years ago,
07:58or Huda Beauty was, you know, just starting out,
08:01people like to bake their makeup and people like to comment on their comment section.
08:04Oh, I can't imagine wearing this much of makeup.
08:06It makes my skin break out.
08:08But I don't hear that nowadays.
08:09Yeah.
08:10So it is a big, big, huge, you know, a progression from
08:14being a heavy makeup girly last time and you had a lot of breakouts
08:18and now you don't hear that anymore.
08:20Yeah.
08:20And also, do you think like that, you know,
08:23like ingredients come into play because of that?
08:25Because it is, you know, a skincare makeup hybrid, for example,
08:28especially we're talking about like complexion products, right?
08:30Like ingredients play such a big, big part of, you know, long-term effects.
08:35If you're wearing it for a long time,
08:37we don't want things that are going to clog your pores, for example.
08:39Yes.
08:40What do you think about like the importance of
08:43certain ingredients put into these hybrid products?
08:46I think people should be aware what type of ingredients before they actually apply.
08:50Even though they say niacinamide is suitable for all skin types,
08:54but you have to know your skin first.
08:55Yeah.
08:56Because some people are kind of allergic to niacinamide
08:58and I didn't know that until I actually went on TikTok live.
09:01They say like, oh, I can't use niacinamide.
09:02I'm like, oh, I didn't know that.
09:04I thought, you know, niacinamide is okay for everyone
09:07because it's not like a super active ingredient like vitamin C.
09:10Right.
09:10Which is like, you can break out with vitamin C.
09:13So you have to kind of experiment with skincare first
09:17and know your skin first before, you know, applying all these hybrids.
09:21Yeah.
09:21So would you say you're like a full glam girl or like a hybrid girl?
09:27I am a really hybrid girl right now.
09:29Maybe perhaps 10 years ago, you can call me all full glam,
09:32but it's like, we're going all nude, baby.
09:34Right.
09:35I totally agree.
09:36I feel like back then, we were really like taking it on
09:39and now we're just trying to simplify everything.
09:41I don't know if that has to do with age or if I'm just lazy,
09:44but I'm just like, you know what?
09:45The products are good enough.
09:48We don't have to kick on so many layers of foundation
09:51to get that full coverage that we used to crave.
09:54Right.
09:54Because I feel like even cushions nowadays,
09:57like the drugstore ones, are making huge advancements
10:00where you only just use a few dabs and that's it.
10:04Yeah.
10:05I'm pretty impressed right now, especially like...
10:07Can I name brands?
10:08Yeah, yeah, of course.
10:08Okay, like, for example, Skintific.
10:10It's a drugstore brand.
10:11Oh, that went viral, right?
10:12Yeah, it's so viral.
10:14It's not because some famous girl used it,
10:18but because that product is good.
10:20Yeah, and it's affordable.
10:21Yeah, it's affordable.
10:22And people keep repurchasing it,
10:24which is a good thing because it doesn't make a dent in your wallet.
10:28Right.
10:29Yeah.
10:29That's really interesting because we see a lot more,
10:31like I guess, local and Southeast Asian brands
10:34coming up with these sort of products.
10:36But would you say the origin of all this hybrid product
10:42started from K-beauty?
10:43Would you say?
10:44Uh-huh.
10:46Yeah, I think I know, right?
10:48Because I remember, like, even way back when,
10:51like, we used to always see, like, you know,
10:54K-beauty always focusing on the skin
10:56and focusing on, you know, that beautiful,
10:58like, radiant, healthy, natural glow.
11:01Funny thing is, right,
11:02all these BB cushion things come from Korea.
11:04Right.
11:05And, like, I think one of the first few being Suahsu.
11:08And they already had, like, ginseng in it.
11:10Right.
11:11So it's, like, you get both in one thing.
11:14Right.
11:14They were living in the future, honestly.
11:16Yeah, that was, like, five, six years ago already.
11:19And it was already there.
11:21It's just that the whole industry
11:22haven't tapped on that thing just yet.
11:25It's only, like, recently, maybe the last two years.
11:27Yeah, I do agree.
11:29And I think, you know, when we talk about, like,
11:30complexion products,
11:31there are just so many different formulas as well.
11:33Like, you know, we get, like, now it's,
11:36we're big into creams and gels and things like that.
11:39So it's really interesting to see, like,
11:40how things were, you know, back then, like,
11:43quite, I guess, like, traditional.
11:44Like, a liquid foundation is a liquid foundation
11:47and a powder is a powder.
11:47But now we kind of get a hybrid of everything.
11:50Not just, like, function-wise,
11:52but also formula-wise,
11:53which I think is pretty cool.
11:55Like, you know, how you can actually use, like,
11:57some, I guess, foundations as a concealer, for example.
12:01Yes, to spot cover it.
12:03And I like the glowy,
12:06glowy cheek trend right now.
12:07And the glossy lips.
12:09Okay, tell us a little bit more
12:10about the glowy cheek trend and glossy lips.
12:13I'm not sure you guys are huge Sabrina Carpenter fans.
12:17Oh, she has the beautiful blush all the time.
12:19Yes, so that is, like, the kind of look
12:22that I am aspiring to be like.
12:24Like, okay, she looks awful glam,
12:26but do you see her cheeks?
12:27Like, do you see her cheeks?
12:28Yeah, but I feel like blush is having its moment right now.
12:31It's blush everywhere you go.
12:33Yes.
12:33Right?
12:34Yes.
12:34I feel like it's complexion blush.
12:36That's it.
12:36Nobody really talks about, like,
12:38eyeshadows all that much.
12:40Compared to the last five years ago, right?
12:41It was all about palettes back then.
12:44It was a naked palette.
12:45One, two, three, four.
12:46And then, like, smokey and heat.
12:48And, you know, the whole shebang already.
12:50Yeah, and now it's all about skin
12:52and hybrid products, cream products.
12:54I personally really like, like, blushes.
12:57Well, lip tints slash blushes.
13:00I feel like it's really handy to have,
13:02especially if you're, like, on the go
13:03for touch-ups and things like that,
13:05even for travel.
13:06Do you have a specific product or products
13:09that you enjoy, like, when you're traveling
13:12or, you know, you film quite a lot?
13:14So I'm assuming there's a lot of times
13:16where you need, you know, all these
13:17multi-use products for touch-ups.
13:20I like my nude sticks.
13:22Oh, yeah, I love nude sticks.
13:23Again, I feel like they're one of the pioneers as well.
13:25Yes, I love my nude sticks.
13:26I love cushions a lot.
13:29I think a lot of cushions,
13:30like the most recent one, Turtle Cushion.
13:32Oh, I love that one.
13:34That is so good.
13:34You guys have to try it out.
13:36I think it came out with so many different shades.
13:38Yeah, first it came out with the red one,
13:40and then now it has the pink and white and black,
13:42which I haven't got all my hands on it yet
13:44because it's too fast.
13:46It's moving at a very fast, rapid pace.
13:48And then now they have, like,
13:50extended the range to the darker
13:51and tan-skinned girlies.
13:52I'm like, yes, such a huge win.
13:55Yeah, definitely.
13:57Okay, so, like, when we talk about,
13:59like, traditional makeup products, right?
14:01We talk about, like, foundation,
14:03talk about bronzer.
14:04How do you think, like, the newer products,
14:06like, I guess, more recently-launched products,
14:09how does that compare to, like,
14:11you know, maybe the older OG products?
14:14Do you have an example?
14:15Oh, I don't know.
14:16Like, the really, like, for example,
14:18like, way back when,
14:19we didn't have many options, right?
14:20It was, like, MAC, Estee Lauder, NARS.
14:23Urban Decay.
14:24Urban Decay, oh my god, I love Urban Decay.
14:26So, like, all those products,
14:27I feel like every single brand had, like, a signature cult favorite.
14:32Yes.
14:32But now, like, when you see all these newer indie brands,
14:35you know, things like, um,
14:37RODE, for example, or, uh,
14:39SAY, Merit Beauty,
14:41all these, like, you know, I guess, like,
14:43up-and-coming brands that not are,
14:45not just are more cleaner,
14:48they're, you know, they have more natural products.
14:51And I feel like a lot of their products,
14:53you know, kind of lead more towards this, like,
14:56you know, fresh, very light,
14:58kind of sheer kind of a vibe.
15:01So, do you see, like,
15:03I guess, like, a difference,
15:05I would say, in the product formulation
15:08and how it applies on the skin?
15:10I realized that the older,
15:12maybe 10 years ago, products are more powdery
15:15compared to now.
15:16It's a little bit more sheer.
15:18Yeah.
15:18But you can, it's buildable.
15:20Last time, if you didn't know how to apply eyeshadow,
15:23that's the end.
15:24You got a panda eye.
15:26Like, smoky red.
15:27Yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:28You don't know how to blend just yet.
15:31It will be too much for you guys.
15:32Right.
15:32But with the newer formulations,
15:34I feel it's buildable.
15:36It starts off light,
15:38and you can just slowly layer it on
15:40to become darker as you like.
15:43And I prefer the newer formulations,
15:45which is such game changers,
15:46like last time,
15:47when you talk about Korean eyeshadows,
15:49like, I'll throw it away.
15:50Yeah, because you couldn't see anything.
15:51I wouldn't waste my time on them.
15:53Yeah.
15:54I'm sorry to say,
15:55to my whole eyeshadow brand,
15:58you didn't know last time.
15:59But now, it's so different.
16:02Like, you have brands like Romand.
16:03Yeah.
16:03You have brands like Clio.
16:05You have brands like,
16:06all these new eyeshadows, like Alicia.
16:08You can't, it's so good.
16:10I didn't really want to pay so much attention
16:13to Korean eyeshadows last time,
16:14because they were like,
16:16Yeah, I know what I mean.
16:17Like, patchy, like.
16:18Yeah, it's very hard to blend.
16:20And they give you like a weird eyeshadow.
16:23What is that?
16:23Applicator.
16:24What's that?
16:27But now, they don't give you
16:28that kind of stuff anymore.
16:30Now, you have to use actual brushes.
16:32So, it's so much better, you guys.
16:34I would say, you little Gen Z girlies
16:37are so lucky.
16:38Yeah, you guys are lucky.
16:40Gen Alpha kids, so lucky.
16:41Yeah, because I feel like,
16:43we like, went through it.
16:44Like, tried the bad stuff.
16:46You know, I remember.
16:47We had to go through for you.
16:48You know, we millennials
16:50had to fight our way for you guys.
16:51You guys did.
16:52Yeah, and I feel like this generation
16:54is just so much more aware of like,
16:56good and bad things in skincare.
16:58Especially because,
16:59I remember like, during our time.
17:00Like, we were still using like,
17:02you know, walnut face scrubs.
17:04Like, literally just burning our faces off.
17:06Yeah, nobody knew that you couldn't mix like,
17:09AHA, BHAs with vitamin Cs.
17:12Yeah, nobody knew that.
17:12Then, the end.
17:14Like, again, you know,
17:16a lot of people still don't know that.
17:17So, don't do that, guys.
17:18Yeah.
17:18It's gonna neutralize.
17:20And you're not gonna see any effects.
17:22So, I guess like, for people watching,
17:25what should consumers look for
17:27when they're looking for maybe like,
17:28a crossover hybrid product?
17:32I will reiterate again.
17:33Read the ingredients.
17:34If you don't know how to read the ingredients,
17:36get a sales assistant to help you.
17:38That's the closest bet you can, you know,
17:40save your skin from getting burned
17:42or something like that.
17:42Because sometimes when you have acne,
17:44especially you girlies who are acne prone,
17:46please get somebody who is gonna help you
17:50to walk through the ingredients with you.
17:52If you feel a little bit sus,
17:54please perhaps use a sample if you can
17:58before, you know, going full on.
18:00Yeah, that's a really good tip.
18:02I think a lot of people are like,
18:04you know, they read a lot of reviews online
18:05and, you know, it doesn't mean like,
18:07if it works for somebody,
18:08that it would necessarily be for everybody as well.
18:12Is there any specific, like, right now
18:15that you are using that you love,
18:16like, hybrid products?
18:17I like the new Anastasia one.
18:20The new Anastasia, the stick.
18:23The one that they just launched last month.
18:25And then I was one of the lucky ones
18:28who went to their event
18:29and they said it's a skincare with makeup.
18:32So it's the other way around.
18:33It's not makeup with skincare,
18:34it's like skincare with makeup.
18:35I'm like, oh, what's that?
18:36Let's say, okay,
18:37so this is all the goodness of your skincare,
18:39but a little bit of tint.
18:40Right.
18:41So think about it like a tinted moisturizer.
18:43Yeah, that's interesting because, you know,
18:45sometimes I feel like a lot of brands
18:47just say like it's infused with skincare.
18:49And then when you really look at the ingredients,
18:51it's like...
18:52Down, down below.
18:53Right down below.
18:53And it's like the slightest amount of like
18:56the skincare that they infuse in.
18:58So it's interesting that you just said
19:00that they market it as a skincare product,
19:02add it on with a little bit of makeup.
19:04Yes.
19:05I think that's really refreshing.
19:07Because don't you think like a lot of times,
19:09like a lot of the branding,
19:11marketing aspects of all these hybrid products
19:14are mainly just like kind of gimmicks.
19:16Have you...
19:17Do you think that?
19:17I wouldn't call them gimmicks.
19:19I would call them upgrades.
19:21For me, for me,
19:22I know it sounds gimmicky at first,
19:24but for me as a skincare really,
19:26I'm like, yes, I get it.
19:28Do you see any advantages using,
19:30you know, like hybrid products?
19:32We mentioned like they put in certain skincare
19:35special ingredients in these formulations.
19:37So have you personally seen a visible,
19:40you know, difference or changes maybe?
19:45I kind of am a bit candid to ask
19:48because I'm a huge skincare girlie.
19:49So I don't rely on my makeup to give me that,
19:52you know, that glow.
19:52So I'm kind of like bad at this,
19:54but I do see that they're not as cakey
19:57as my other makeups.
19:59Yeah, I would agree.
20:01And I think like if you're someone who,
20:04you know, likes natural,
20:05like very sheer makeup,
20:06you definitely would love hybrid crossover products.
20:09But, you know, like sometimes for us, for example,
20:12like if you're someone working with a lot of lights
20:14and you're always behind the camera
20:16and you're always kind of shooting
20:17or in the studio and stuff,
20:18you have all these crazy lights,
20:20like even right now,
20:21like how do you think that would work
20:23in this sort of situation?
20:25Do you think that it would still look...
20:27Because, you know, like on-screen makeup
20:29is different than in real life.
20:30So actually I do work a lot with on-screen,
20:33like almost every day,
20:35the ring lights in my face.
20:36I do notice that it's easy for me
20:38to catch a freckle nowadays.
20:41Yeah.
20:42But when I pound on my sunscreen
20:44or even just a BB cushion with some sunscreen,
20:46I do feel like, okay,
20:47there's some kind of layer of protection over there.
20:49So I do feel that I don't get it as much.
20:52So that's what I try to do.
20:54I try to use something with SPF
20:56so that I don't get that freckle
20:57as fast as before.
20:59Yeah, definitely.
21:00And I also, guys,
21:01just because you're indoors,
21:01you still want to put on SPF
21:03because of all the blue light
21:05from your phone, from your computer.
21:07I would say minimum SPF 30
21:08if you hit the higher ones, you know.
21:10Yeah.
21:11SPF 30 is actually lighter formulation
21:13compared to the 50s.
21:14Right.
21:14I guess a lot of people don't know that
21:16because they keep thinking,
21:17okay, SPF 50 is the best, the best.
21:19Yes, it is the best, no doubt.
21:20But then if you want,
21:21it's not going out at all,
21:22like at least wear 30
21:23because 30 is so much lighter.
21:24Yeah, totally.
21:25And also like,
21:26do you think like a mineral
21:28or chemical sunscreen works better?
21:30For me, I think a hybrid is best.
21:33Oh.
21:33A hybrid is best.
21:34Okay, I love it.
21:35We're like so on topic right now.
21:38A hybrid of chemical and physical sunscreen.
21:40Really?
21:41Yeah, because I realized that
21:44I usually try your sun and compare your sun
21:46because I'm such a skincare.
21:47So I think like the ones who have not tried,
21:49you should try hybrids.
21:50Okay, hybrid.
21:51What's your favorite hybrid?
21:53Right now, I'm loving MediCube.
21:55I've seen you use a lot of MediCube, girl.
21:57But the MediCube Collagen, the pink one.
21:59Yeah.
21:59It has a little tint on it.
22:01I have not tried that.
22:02Okay, you should ask them.
22:04Okay, I'll definitely try that.
22:05The Collagen pink color one is like chef's kiss.
22:09Okay.
22:10Because I'm more of like,
22:11I've always been like a chemical sunscreen girl.
22:13Like I always feel, I don't know,
22:15maybe it's because I have combo skin.
22:16I always feel like mineral sunscreens,
22:18like I can feel it on the skin.
22:20So it's interesting that you said hybrid
22:21because I don't think I've ever tried a hybrid sun.
22:23Try the MediCube Collagen Sun Cream.
22:26Okay, that's next on my list.
22:28I mean, you've been using it.
22:30I hope you know what you're talking about.
22:32I have not tried the sunscreen though.
22:33I've tried the skincare but not the sunscreen.
22:35But with the Booster H,
22:37with the all Collagen, Collagen,
22:39the Glow Booster Serum,
22:41the Bubble Serum,
22:43the Triple Collagen Cream,
22:45all MediCube, the pink line,
22:47chef's kiss.
22:48If you hate vitamin C,
22:50at least try the Collagen one.
22:52Okay, good tip.
22:54Another thing I wanted to ask like,
22:56okay, we talked about like skincare infused makeup,
23:00but I also feel like with body care,
23:02there's also a lot of like hybrids now, right?
23:04We get like body lotion with again SPF.
23:07We see a lot of SPF lately.
23:08I feel like people are a lot more aware
23:10about like skin sun protection.
23:12But what do you think about,
23:13you know, like body care infused with?
23:15Skincare ingredients?
23:17Oh, you know what?
23:18I want to talk about this.
23:20I haven't come across a body care with retinol
23:24until last year.
23:25And it has been such a game changer,
23:27especially in my foot care
23:29because my feet is like peeling.
23:32It's so freaking dry.
23:34Yeah.
23:34It's like, you know,
23:35the dryness of your heels
23:38because you've been outdoors all day.
23:40And then when you try a body care with retinol,
23:44oh my God, game changer.
23:45Really? I've never tried that.
23:46Okay. There is this brand called Medix.
23:49Then it's 5.5.
23:51I know it's such a weird name,
23:52but it's from the US
23:53and I bought it on iHerb.
23:54I just took a chance on it
23:56and like, oh my God,
23:57what have I been missing all this while?
23:59If you guys are not pregnant,
24:00please use retinol.
24:01But if you are,
24:02please keep it all together.
24:03Okay, that's interesting
24:04because yeah, we always,
24:05I think a lot of people
24:06always like to focus on the face, right?
24:08Face, makeup, again,
24:10makeup, skincare and stuff.
24:11But when we talk about like body care,
24:13I think people forget.
24:14They're just like,
24:15it's just a lotion.
24:15It's just a body cream.
24:16But you know, how important is it?
24:18Do you think like, you know,
24:20if you want to keep up
24:22with the whole anti-aging
24:23because we don't want to just look,
24:25you know, young face up.
24:26We want to look young.
24:27And you know, I think the body people
24:29tend to kind of
24:31not pay as much attention to.
24:33So when you mentioned like retinol,
24:34there's so many other like,
24:36you know, vitamin C, for example,
24:38like infused in lotions and creams
24:41and also SPF,
24:42which is really nice
24:43because, you know,
24:44you have so many different options now.
24:46But is there any specific like,
24:50I guess, brand or products
24:52you would like to see come up with,
24:54you know, maybe more interesting
24:56hybrids for body?
24:58So Nivea is big on body lotions
25:02and they have been coming out
25:03with a lot of vitamin C body lotion,
25:04which is great.
25:05And you have SPF with vitamin C
25:08in the body lotion.
25:09I would like to see
25:10they come out with shower gels
25:11with those AHA, BHA,
25:12so that those people with back knee
25:14can, you know, really clear their back knee.
25:15And you didn't know, right?
25:16Actually, your toners with AHA, BHA,
25:18you just spray on your back
25:19and your back knee will be like.
25:21Really?
25:22Yeah. I mean, like those people
25:23who are suffering from back knee
25:24because you have long hair
25:25and you wash your hair
25:26and sometimes the conditioner
25:27gets on your back.
25:28Right. I've read about that.
25:29Spray those AHA, BHA toners on the back.
25:33Oh my God.
25:34Within a few days.
25:37Really? Try it. Try it.
25:38Especially with the higher
25:39percentage just one,
25:40like Pixi Tonic.
25:42Oh, yeah. Go Tonic.
25:43Yes. It's like.
25:44Please spray it on your back.
25:46And even you can use it on your scalp
25:48if you have dandruff.
25:50It's such a game changer.
25:51You don't know that, right?
25:52I'm the hybrid queen. I love it.
25:54She's just giving us the recipe.
25:55Because I've got so much skincare
25:57in my cupboard.
25:58You won't believe it.
26:00So I just need to use it on my body.
26:01So I'm like, hey,
26:02I'm going to use it on my body.
26:03It works. It works even better, right?
26:04Yes. I'm like, oh my God,
26:06my back knee is clear.
26:07I don't have back knee anymore.
26:08You guys, guys, girls,
26:10whoever who's having back knee,
26:11please spray those AHA, BHA toners
26:14on your back.
26:15It helps.
26:16I hope they come out with shower gels
26:17because it's easier.
26:18That is true. Yeah.
26:20We don't see a lot of AHAs, BHAs
26:22or sort of like any chemical.
26:24There was a time when I was working
26:25in Crabtree.
26:25Yeah.
26:29I remember that.
26:30So they have shower gels with AHAs.
26:33That was, I'm like, oh,
26:35showers with AHAs,
26:36that's such a game changer.
26:37Then I'm like, oh.
26:38Why did everyone else think of that, right?
26:41Like, why is it just so?
26:42Why is the only Crabtree,
26:43the only one who have AHAs
26:45and now the brand is not active in Asia.
26:47But where do I get my AHAs anymore?
26:48Yeah, yeah, yeah.
26:49That is, that is a pretty cool.
26:51OK, body care people,
26:52please listen up.
26:53Please come out with your AHA showers
26:55because I'm waiting.
26:56We are waiting.
26:57Let's just say that.
26:58Since you just made us, you know,
27:01really interested with all your little
27:03ingredient recipe concoctions.
27:05Have you done anything that,
27:07you know, like if you're like
27:09suddenly you have a makeup emergency,
27:11have you used any products
27:12that are like meant for something else,
27:15but you use it for something else?
27:16Like, you know what I mean?
27:17Like, like a lipstick for like blush, for example.
27:20It's always that.
27:21But then I will say like,
27:22no makeup removers, just baby oil.
27:23That's like really, really like.
27:25Does it really remove?
27:26It removes like waterproof makeup.
27:28OK.
27:29But you have to double cleanse.
27:30You cannot leave the baby oil there.
27:31And then you got clogged pores.
27:32Right.
27:33Double cleansing, guys.
27:34I know I mentioned this in a previous episode,
27:36but like it is, yeah,
27:37if you really have to,
27:38you can't find a makeup remover.
27:40You just go to a 7-Eleven,
27:41buy the baby oil,
27:42remove your waterproof mascara.
27:45Game changer.
27:45And make sure you double cleanse
27:47or else you'll just like break out next day.
27:49So I think just to like wrap it all up, right?
27:52I guess we can agree like in general,
27:54like hybrid crossover products are the it thing.
27:59Do you see it becoming like,
28:02you know, like a thing,
28:03like a permanent thing, I guess,
28:04in the beauty industry?
28:05Or do you think it's kind of
28:06just like a temporary trend
28:07and people are going to get over it?
28:09And people want...
28:10I think it's here to stay.
28:11You think it's here to stay?
28:12Mark my words, guys.
28:14It's here to stay.
28:16Yeah, because I think a lot of like,
28:17you know, influencers,
28:18like beauty girlies,
28:19I think we now have like a,
28:22you know, like we know that
28:24skincare is the way to go
28:25and we always want everything
28:27to be beneficial for the skin.
28:29And, you know,
28:30we want to see those effects long term.
28:31So I'm glad we agree on that.
28:33But yeah, thank you so much
28:36for your input, Grace.
28:36It was lovely speaking to you.
28:38Did you have anything else
28:39you'd like to say before we say bye?
28:41I guess you guys just follow me on TikTok.
28:43You'll learn more about me.
28:44Okay, yeah.
28:45Don't forget to follow Grace on TikTok.
28:48And with that,
28:49I would like to say thank you for watching.
28:51And thanks once again, Grace,
28:52for coming on to the show.
28:54It was so fun and we learned so much from you.
28:57And with that,
28:58I will see you guys in the next episode.
29:01Bye.
29:06Bye.
