00:00It looks like we got some pages with a punchline. Here's a look at the NECA Toys
00:04Toonie Comics The Joker.
00:19Based on his appearance in the classic comics, The Joker joins the Toonie
00:23classics line. A fun take on beloved characters from film, TV, and pop culture.
00:28He stands approximately six inches tall and includes a removable hat, playing
00:32card, and squirt effect that can attach the flower on his lapel. Blister card
00:36packaging with bonus cutout backdrop. Well, well, well, it seems the clown's
00:40punchlines are finally making it to press. Just before, of course, we get a
00:44closer look at the NECA Toonie Comics The Joker, the tape measure first is
00:48gonna tell us that he stands at five inches in height or is gonna be twelve
00:51and a half centimeters tall. Everybody loves a clown, so why don't you? NECA
00:57apparently does have a love when it comes to Toonie clowns, having done a
00:59whole bunch of them already. I'm gonna bring in at least one of them right now.
01:01Here's the Toonie terrors Tim Curry Pennywise. Somewhat also ironic, I'm
01:05bringing in Tim Curry. At one point, he was the voice of the original Joker from
01:08the Batman animated series. Tim Curry, though, unfortunately had to step out.
01:12Mark Hamill stepped in. Joker was always as well the foil for Batman and even
01:16though we don't have a Toonie Comics version of the Batman, which is kind of
01:19a bit disappointing. We only seem to have a Superman right now. Speaking
01:22though of actors that also played the Caped Crusader, here's what the figure
01:26looks like with Michael Keaton or more specifically the Toonie terrors Beetlejuice.
01:29I hate to really start this review already on a sad note, but something
01:32though did break on my Joker. The squirt effect that's supposed to attach onto
01:35his flower lapel snapped on me when I was actually trying to fight it fit
01:39inside the hole. I'll show you the state and condition it is in right now. It's a
01:43long piece. It actually kind of looks like the puke effect that came in with
01:46the Toonie terrors Reagan. Oh, that's kind of gross, but it looks very similar. It's
01:50just a little bit smaller. This was actually one piece and when I was trying
01:53to force this inside the hole and really forcing isn't the word I want to use
01:56to describe it. I was careful, at least as careful as I thought I was being, until
02:00eventually though when I was putting it in, it snapped the end piece right off. I
02:04suppose I probably could glue this. The only thing about this though is I don't
02:08know if it's gonna fix the problem permanently because I think that if I do
02:11it again it's probably gonna end up snapping the plastic off because now the
02:14plastic has a brittle point to it. What I ended up doing though was I took myself
02:18a screwdriver and what I did though I also took the figure and I just doweled
02:22it just a little bit more. I think of this as a cautionary tale. You could do
02:27this yourself. You could also either heat this also in hot water or you can also
02:31take a few passes with a hairdryer just to soften up that plastic just a little
02:34bit. Anyways though what I could do at least for a stand-in is that I can take
02:39the piece that I've got left behind. The lapel squirt effect still fits in
02:43there although with as long as it is right now I think the Joker's gonna have
02:46to worry but a little bit of splash back still attaches in there. Just again
02:52I really wish that didn't break but I did want to be at least fully fully
02:55transparent to show you guys at least that something unfortunately did break
02:58on my figure. Nothing else, nothing else, knock on wood at least, nothing else has
03:02broken on him. The figure comes also included with a Joker card. I was actually
03:06kind of surprised to see that this wasn't made of cardboard. It's made
03:09instead of plastic. It does fit into his hand it only though fits on this hand. It
03:13doesn't fit on the other one. This hand is more dedicated to holding the side
03:16of his lapel. I suppose as well you could also have the arm up like this so it
03:20looks like Joker saying, hey man hit the bricks. Something that's that's something
03:23old people say. But what you can do though is that you can take the playing
03:27card and you can fit it in between his thumb and his finger and he actually
03:30holds it pretty good. Pretty good. Just like that. So Joker can present his card.
03:36It's my business card everybody here. Yeah did you already get one? Did you already get
03:39one? Look at the font on that card. What you can also do too is the character
03:44comes included with a hat. Now I had struggles getting the hat on his head. It isn't one
03:48of those instances folks where the hat first of all is a very soft
03:52plastic. It's just as hard I feel as the rest of the figure and when you're also
03:55putting on his head you may want to feel the urge to kind of put pressure down on
03:59his head. I don't think it really fixes the problem. If anything it's gonna
04:02create one other problem. First of all it doesn't sit perfectly on his head to the
04:06point where you can tip the figure over. It's one of those cases if you cough the
04:09wrong way you're only just gonna knock the hat off. You basically just put it on
04:13his head and then you walk back and just hope that nothing bangs the shelf.
04:16Because the moment it bangs it the hats gonna fall right off. One other problem I
04:21also seem to face too is because the way you have to force it on top of his head
04:24I end up rubbing just a little bit of paint. I don't know if you guys can see
04:27it. There's a little wear mark right there. Luckily it hasn't developed any
04:31worse of effect but again like if you're putting on his head I don't think
04:34there's a right way or a wrong way. There's not like there's a front or a
04:37back. I mean there are kind of like textured indicators here that are
04:40supposed to I guess show you where it's supposed to go. But if anything you just
04:43sort of want to sit it on his head and walk away. Oh somebody's got a Kleenex.
04:49Don't sneeze. Don't sneeze. Thank you. No leave the room. Okay sneeze outside. So
04:55we're gonna go ahead and leave that off. I suppose what you can also do as well
04:57is use this same hand that we were talking about earlier for his playing
05:00card. Actually can take the hat and hey how about that you can actually fit the
05:04hat in his hand too. I know you're already thinking yourself well hey buddy
05:08what are you gonna do with the card? First of all don't call me buddy. Second
05:11of all though if you want to take the card obviously it won't fit in this hand.
05:14I mean it would have been really ideal if they had just put a slit just made a
05:17separation in between this finger and the thumb. So if you wanted to you could
05:21take the card and put it in his hand on this side too. But what you could do at
05:25least for me at least is I can take the card and fit it inside his hat. Hey how
05:28about that? I just realized I rhymed as well. So that's one way of displaying as
05:32well the figure. Removing all those accessories and the hardships that went
05:36along with them. Getting a closer look at the Joker. I really like the look of
05:40this and while obviously a little bit disappointed that we haven't yet got the
05:43Caped Crusader I hope that that's a release we're gonna be getting at a
05:45later date. So far right now I think it's Joker and it's also Superman. Kind of a
05:50weird pairing that they didn't do do a Batman and a Joker but right now at
05:54least we got ourselves a Joker. You know again like it looks really good. It's
05:57supposed to be the way he's depicted from the comics like the early days the
06:00Silver Age comics. I feel if anything it looks a lot like the Joker from like the
06:04cartoon. I'm thinking like the days of Scooby-Doo and all those earlier cameos.
06:08Very large chin as you can see. Very high cheekbones. Very bright hair also as well.
06:13He's one of those figures that look really good from all the sides. Little
06:16knobby nose. He's got this huge big smile on his face. He also seems to have green
06:21eyes. Am I the only one that notices green eyes? Very nice looking high
06:25eyebrows matching of course the coloring of his hair. He's Joker. Classic Joker
06:29from head to toe. Of course he does have of course all the clothing that goes
06:32with a classic looking Joker. A tailed jacket on the back. Of course he does
06:37have the long pants that match that as well. I guess they're not so much long
06:39but it matches at least the coloring of the purple and he also has as well the
06:43mustard colored vest and the green tie underneath. Yes I'm a little disappointed
06:47that the lapel had to break. I mean it's one of those things too as well. You
06:50don't even have to attach the splash effect. The squirting effect just leave
06:53it off altogether if you want to. It still looks like Joker's doing something.
06:56Now for the figure's articulation being that he is kind of within that
07:00territory, that terrain of Tooney Tares, he sort of gets those limited levels of
07:04articulation. Surprisingly though he does still manage to pull off a ball joint so
07:08I'm happy to see at least that. The head can move back and forth. The head can look up.
07:11The head can look down. You can also rock it back and forth as well. Arms do
07:17rotate. Yes they do all the way around. This hand swivels back and forth and why
07:22I put an exclamation mark to that, this arm rotates back and forth. So again if
07:26you want to have him hit the bricks you move the arm back this way as well.
07:30That was a little silly. This hand does not seem to want to rotate. If it
07:35does it's probably this. There we go. There we go. It does
07:40rotate. Not that it necessarily fixes anything. I suppose if anything kind of
07:44looks like Joker's blowing like he's just painted his nails. Blowing off his
07:48nails. Or again like he's also saying hit the bricks. Why do we keep saying
07:50hitting the bricks? It's one thing that old people used to say a whole lot. I
07:53actually have even said that a lot myself. Now there's no articulation here
07:56for the waist. Though the legs and the waist are married together there's no
08:00way you can separate the two. You can however though, because he's got a
08:03bulge on his ankles, move the ankles forward and back and up and down. Because
08:07the way he's pretty posed like this means that you always have to have the
08:10figure with feet flat like this. You can move them somewhat side to the side here
08:14but it does sort of throw off his balance. I honestly really feel like when
08:18it comes to Tooney Tares like this or in this case Tooney Comics, I think if
08:21you're gonna have a character like this that's pretty posed that has to have his
08:24feet a certain way. Why not just mold the feet like that? Don't give them any...
08:28don't give us the tease that there's supposed to be ball joints in there when
08:31we all know, you know, I know, the Joker even knows, there's no really way to move
08:35the feet because it it's only just gonna affect the way he stands on a shelf. As of
08:39certainly standing on the shelf while again unfortunately the little squirt
08:44effect did break for me. And again everybody caution caution please when
08:47you're getting this figure for yourself. At least what I can also do for at least
08:50right now until I eventually fix the squirt effect is I can actually take the
08:54playing card put inside his hat then take the hat put it in the grip of the
08:57Joker and that's a nice-looking figure that's gonna go on the shelf. If you
09:00happen to be hiding a few dollars up your sleeve and you want to spend on the
09:03Tooney Comics version of the Joker you'll be happy to know that the Clown
09:06Prince of Crime right now is either available in stores or online. Generally
09:10most of the online sites ask about that same price as what Tooney Tares
09:13generally go for at around $18 which isn't all that bad when you get a
09:17stylized Joker that has to be fair some limited levels of articulation but it
09:21goes sort of with the territory of what Tooney Tares generally are in the first
09:24place. This character does come included with a couple of accessories. One of the
09:28three accessories unfortunately for this guy happen to broken. Now I could have
09:32easily just hit it I could have just lied to you all and just said that never
09:35had any broken things on it but I'm gonna be honest with you guys I'll let
09:38you guys know that if you're looking to get this guy for yourself just go be
09:41careful that the splash piece that goes into the lapel don't put too much
09:45pressure because you may end up snapping the plastic. Then you'll say
09:48this guy told me I could I never told you you could I said you got to be
09:52careful don't blame the guy that's behind the camera. He has a top hat or a
09:56hat that goes on his head it's not one of those easiest hats either. Softer
09:59plastic probably would have worked a little bit better. Harder plastic means
10:03you sort of just have to rest it on Joker's head and walk away. He also has
10:07of course a playing card and either one of those or both of those collectively
10:11could be held at least in one of his hands. Some limited levels again of
10:15posability but you know again if you are one that likes to collect Toonie
10:18Tares I love collecting Toonie Tares. It sort of goes again with the
10:21territory of those. Again if you guys are interested this guy's available right
10:25now let me know down below in the comment section if you guys have already
10:27picked up the Toonie comics version of the Joker and you certainly hope as well
10:31that next gonna be releasing more of them. At the time of doing this review at
10:34the time of you guys watching this review I think the only two that we have
10:37right now is Superman and the Joker. I still want to get my hands on Superman
10:42but I'm holding out hopes that we're gonna be getting the Caped Crusader. If you
10:45guys did enjoy this video do it a solid. Throw it a like. You guys want to stick
10:49around for more so? I hope so. I hope so. Hit that subscribe, turn on that bell and
10:55as always come back. As always thanks for watching. See you guys next time!
