00:00Ilocos Norte farmers have received a heads-up from their provincial LGU to find protective cover for their crops

00:08and relocate their livestock and or pets to safer or higher grounds in preparation for Typhoon Mars' impending passage

00:16through and across the province. A preemptive evacuation of 49 families or 143 people has been completed

00:25in the coastal communities and flood-prone areas of Pagudpod while close to 2,500 family food packs have been

00:34distributed in Lawag City as we hear Pia Ilocos Norte's Emma Guillermos report.

00:43The Ilocos Norte Provincial Government advised farmers to prepare and protect their crops and livestock

00:49from the expected strong winds and rain brought by Typhoon Mars. Farmers are urged to transfer their livestock

00:56to higher and safer grounds away from rivers and mountains to avoid casualties in case of heavy rain and flooding.

01:03Meanwhile, local government units are already taking steps to ensure the safety of their residents.

01:09In Pagudpod town, a preemptive evacuation for 49 families or 143 individuals in coastal and flood-prone barangays

01:18was conducted this morning. In Lawag City, around 2,300 relief packs are ready to be distributed to affected residents.

01:27Their Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils are also activated to monitor and respond in their respective barangays.

01:35The disaster risk management staff will be already staying here at City Hall and already monitoring barangays,

01:45especially those barangays most prone to flooding such as Gabo and La Paz.

01:53And there are other barangays as well. So please understand that we're very much on alert now.

02:01Governor Matthew Marcus Manotoc also suspended classes in public and private schools as well as government offices today.

02:09Philippine Airline flights No. PR2198 and PR2199 bound to Manila and Lawag City and vice versa have been canceled for tomorrow, Nov. 8.

02:19Based on the 2 p.m. Tropical Cyclone Bulletin of Pagasa, the northern part of the province,

02:24including the towns of Pagudpod, Bangui, Vintar, Dumalneg, Adams, Bacara, Pasukin, and Burgos are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4.

02:34The rest of the province is under Signal No. 3.
