00:00Hey, I have this thought in the back of my mind.
00:03I think JV, obviously, arguably, arguably the best Tigers pitcher of our generation,
00:09the one blemish he always had on his record, no postseason success.
00:12Well, hold on, hold on, hold on.
00:15World Series success.
00:16He was awfully good in the first two, in the Divisional Series, so don't say postseason.
00:21It's World Series.
00:22Okay.
00:23Fair to say.
00:24Is this fair to say this is the first step for Tarek Skubal towards being considered
00:29the best Tigers pitcher of our generation, if he could build on from today's start and
00:35continue the Tigers towards the path?
00:37Is this his first step to being considered the best Tigers pitcher of our generation?
00:42I mean, yeah, I think it's a good, he'd have to win a lot of postseason games.
00:47Well, winning a Cy Young would be the first step, right?
00:51I mean, and it looks like he's got that locked up.
00:56Postseason success is really where you're measured, I think, by a fan base.
01:01People look at that.
01:02People pay close attention to that because that's where more eyes are on it than ever
01:06before.
01:07So, yeah, I tend to think he's going to have to have some of that.
01:11Yeah, and that was my point.
01:13I guess here I'm assuming, at this point, that Cy Young is a no-brainer unless something
01:17ridiculous happens.
01:18But, yeah, Cy Young, one in the Triple Crown.
01:21If he builds on this as his first step towards postseason success.
01:25So that was my thought, guys.
01:27Great show.
01:28Have a good rest of your day.
01:29Thank you very much.
01:30Yeah, I mean, if he just carries it through and dominates and they keep winning postseason
01:38games that he starts, I mean, there's a long way to go before I'd say he's the most dominant
01:47Tiger starter of our generation.
01:48But it's going to take a lot of continued success.
01:52I mean, but we're seeing a great season here, an elite, elite season.
01:57If the Tigers win the World Series and Scuba goes undefeated in the postseason, it might
02:00be one of the best Tiger seasons ever by anyone.
02:04JV got his start in the postseason in 2006 and he wasn't good.
02:09It was after that, the next postseason for him in 2011, that he started to become kind
02:15of legendary.
02:16He had a bad start against the Yankees and then was awfully good for a while, with the
02:21exception of getting to the World Series.
02:25He had ERAs in 10 ALDS games, I guess this includes some Houston games, a 2.86 ERA.
02:34In the ALCS in nine games, it's a 3.19 earn-run average.
02:38The WIP is at 1.1 and .9.
02:40With the World Series, things take a bad turn for him, 5.6 ERA and a 1.35 WIP.
02:48It's a tough standard to live by because he was so good.
02:51But Scuba has that opportunity.
02:53He is the best pitcher in baseball right now.
02:56Carry it over to the postseason, please.
02:58Please be that guy that we all expect you to be.
03:01And hopefully that's the case.
03:03He wasn't, I mean, you mentioned before, his last start against Cleveland, give him 10
03:06hits and a walk.
03:07He pitched seven innings and only gave him one run.
03:10Go ahead.
03:11Nickel and diamonded that with a base hit.
03:12But if it happens once an inning, it doesn't matter.
03:14Do that today.
03:16Yeah.
03:17Champa Chumbo.
