00:00Obviously, this game last night, Stoney, disappointment, bitterly disappointing for the Tigers fans
00:06that went there, the Tigers fans that watched it, the Tigers fans that listened to it on
00:10the radio.
00:12It was actually a really good baseball game to watch.
00:15If you just love baseball, this was a great game to watch.
00:18It really was.
00:19And sitting in the stands, and I'm counting in my head, all right, they need seven more
00:22outs.
00:23That's right.
00:25And then, you know, what happened happened.
00:30I mean, it's it's two to one Cleveland, Bob in the fifth inning and Zach McKinstry hits
00:36the home run to tie things up.
00:38We're all excited.
00:39The Tigers push across that run in the in the sixth inning.
00:46Everything's looking great until it's not looking great anymore, which is really, really
00:52unfortunate.
00:53And you know, Brisky came in to pitch and facing Fry two strikes, two and then a game.
01:01What was it?
01:02Two, two, I think.
01:03Yeah.
01:04And then he had the bad, the wild pitch or whatever.
01:05When I went there, I was a terrible looking pitch.
01:07Yeah.
01:08And maybe that I don't know, psych them out or whatever, that he wasn't going to use a
01:12cutter anymore or a slide or whatever it was.
01:15But he went fastball.
01:16He went with his stuff.
01:17Ninety eight miles an hour.
01:18It was just a little too much of the plate.
01:21Fry, if you remember early in the season, there was a game in Cleveland on the on an
01:27afternoon where the Tigers were leading four three and the Tigers were it was early enough
01:32in the season.
01:33I think I actually.
01:34I'll give you the exact date, maybe I can't anyway, where the Tigers are winning four
01:40three and in the bottom of the ninth, Fry hit a home run off Chafin to tie the game.
01:46And then the Guardians won in extra innings.
01:49Fry's been a very good player for Cleveland when he's able to play.
01:53And I mean, give credit to the manager vote for for working at the way he did saving him
02:00as a pinch hitter.
02:02Comes in.
02:03Oh, brisky.
02:04And like you mentioned, it was ninety eight mile an hour fastball.
02:08The bottom part of the strike zone is a good pitch, not a great pitch, but a good pitch.
02:11It was a great swing.
02:13Yes.
02:14And Fry made a pay for it was a no doubt or three hundred eighty two feet over the wall
02:17in left field.
02:18And that gave him the lead.
02:19But it didn't end things.
02:21The Tigers did have their opportunities.
02:24Unfortunately, Cleveland tax on another run there in the ninth inning.
02:27Fry again.
02:28Great squeeze.
02:29Yeah, it was a great squeeze.
02:32And, you know, wishing that that didn't happen the way that that happened.
02:36But it did.
02:39And they get that run across and that run was obviously quite important because the
02:43Tigers for a second straight game, they got to class A. Yep.
02:49And they got another run off of him.
02:51So maybe one of the positives, if we're looking for anything positive come out of this game
02:56and I've got a few of them, but maybe the biggest positive is that the number one weapon
03:01that Cleveland has on their team, which is their closer.
03:06He's been I don't want to say neutralized because he ends up getting the save to show
03:11a little bit of vulnerability again.
03:13But it's two straight outings.
03:15He's come in there and Tigers are OK.
03:17You're here.
03:18We're all right.
03:19You know, he doesn't give up hits and he gave up the double to Malloy and he ends up coming
03:24around and scoring.
03:25So it's he's not invincible.
03:29He's not Mariano Rivera.
03:31He's very good.
03:32But the Tigers have made him look average, which is fun.
03:36That's a very minor positive, but something that could play huge tomorrow if it's a tie
03:42game.
03:43Yes.
03:44Late in the game and class A comes up there.
03:47It's no longer this daunting task.
03:50It's something that you can literally look at.
03:52Oh, let's look at some recent at-bats against class A. Oh, here's a hit.
03:56Oh, here's a hit.
03:57Here's a near hit from Perez off him.
03:59Here's a hit.
04:00Oh, here's Carpenter's three run homer.
04:02They've got at least that memory, a recent memory, the recent taste in the mouth of being
04:06able to get to him if he's going to pitch on Saturday night.
04:10Frankly, I hope he doesn't, because if he's not pitching, it means the Tigers have some
04:13big lead and we're getting ready for the other way around.
04:17Bite your tongue.
04:18Yeah.
04:19Well, but yes, of course.
04:20Yes.
04:21Look, do you.
04:22From what Costa told me, the Tigers are still favored tomorrow because it's scuba, which
04:28I find kind of hard to believe, considering Carpenter's not going to be playing.
04:34It doesn't well, not official, but it looks that way.
04:38Scuba's great.
04:40The question is, will they be able to get enough offense?
04:42Is Matthew Boyd, who we haven't been told, is definitely the pitcher yet?
04:46I don't think.
04:47Will he pitch as good as he pitched for Cleveland last week?
04:51I don't know.
04:52I can't imagine he pitches as well as he did.
04:53I mean, I'm hoping it's Matt Boyd because I feel like what we saw from Matt Boyd was
04:59an anomaly.
05:00That's not I mean, that's not the Matt Boyd we've seen.
05:02Right.
05:04I don't want to all of a sudden figure it out and put it together all these years later.
05:06I'm not buying it.
05:07It's not that he's like Mike Maroth or something, but he was good here.
05:10He wasn't great.
05:11No, he wasn't.
05:12He was okay.
05:13Okay.
05:14What was his ERA with the Tigers?
05:15It wasn't very good.
05:164.8?
05:17Something like that?
05:18I think he was an average pitcher, basically.
05:19Below average.
05:20Okay.
05:21Whatever.
05:22I'm going to say it.
05:23Okay.
05:24For the Tigers rotation at the time.
05:25Yes.
05:26He was average for the Tigers.
05:27Put him on any other team, he's probably sent down in the minors.
05:29That's right.
05:30I'm speaking bad about Matt Boyd.
05:31And I don't care.
05:32Because I'm upset.
05:33You should be.
05:34Disappointed with what happened last night.
05:37So am I.
05:38And we always like to play the blame game, especially in baseball, why didn't AJ do this?
05:43Why didn't AJ do this?
05:44Why didn't they do this?
05:46There really wasn't that much where you can sit there and say, God, they should have done
05:50this.
05:51They should have done that.
