00:00Just like in his previous foreign trips, the president always spends time with our countrymen there

00:05and this visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic is no different.

00:09Aside from bonding with the Filipino community,

00:12the chief executive is also expected to participate in meaningful discussions

00:16that concern not just the region and the entire world as well.

00:30have arrived in the Lao People's Democratic Republic today.

00:34The president is set to participate in the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits

00:40which runs from October 9 to 11.

00:42President Marcos met with the Filipino community in Vientiane

00:46to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipinos living in Laos.

00:51This was the first event he attended before the ASEAN Summit.

00:55The chief executive received a warm welcome from the Filipino community.

00:59President Marcos went straight to the event from Watay International Airport

01:03where the Philippine delegation was warmly welcomed by Philippine Ambassador to Lao PDR,

01:08Dina Joy Amatum, alongside officials from the Philippine Embassy in Vientiane.

01:14Tomorrow, the opening ceremony for the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits

01:19will take place.

01:21This significant event will serve as a platform for ASEAN leaders

01:25to discuss key regional and global issues.

01:28President Marcos will attend 16 meetings with various world leaders.

01:32A total of 82 outcome documents are expected,

01:36including the ASEAN Leaders Declaration on Advancing the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific,

01:42Declaration on Strengthening Biosafety and Biosecurity,

01:46as well as Enhancing Cooperation in the Fight Against Drugs are also expected.

01:50President Marcos will push forward the Philippines' interests in ASEAN,

01:54particularly asserting sovereignty and rights in the West Philippine Sea

01:59in line with international law.

02:01He will also bring up and promote connectivity and resilience in the digital economy,

02:06supporting small businesses, promoting renewable energy, and addressing climate change.
