00:00In his participation in the 44th and 45th Summit and related summits in Vientiane, Laos,

00:06President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. aired out one of his top concerns in his agenda, regional

00:11peace and security in step with rule of law in the West Philippine Sea.

00:16Likewise, the President's economic agenda predicated on drawing investors to the country

00:28The 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and related summits have officially commenced.

00:34All 10 ASEAN member states are here to participate, including Timor-Leste as an observer.

00:39Present at the opening ceremony were President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta

00:45Marcos and other ASEAN leaders.

00:47This was followed by plenary and retreat sessions.

00:50Emphasis was placed on enhancing connectivity and resilience.

00:54Views were exchanged on regional and international issues.

00:58President Marcos Jr. discussed adherence to international law.

01:01In accordance with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and international law, the

01:06Philippines has sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea.

01:09This amid China's illegal incursions in the West Philippine Sea.

01:25According to House Speaker Martin Nomaldis, this is important for promoting peace in the

01:46The inter-agency parliamentary assembly was also held today, along with the meetings with

01:51the Business Advisory Council, the ASEAN Youth and the Business Investment Summit.

01:56President Marcos Jr.'s participation in these meetings is crucial in advancing the interests

02:01of the Philippines, such as promoting peace and security, strengthening the economy and

02:07improving the welfare and well-being of every Filipino.

02:10This includes addressing the threats of climate change, natural and man-made disasters, transnational

02:16crime and economic downturns.

02:18My participation and that of the Philippines in the ASEAN meetings is precisely to find

02:23ways to cooperate with partners to better meet the challenges of today, to forge a better

02:29future for our beloved Philippines.

02:32The Philippines aims to attract investors to the country, emphasizing its position as

02:36one of the most dynamic and best-performing economies in Asia.

02:40I will meet potential investors, business people and encourage them to explore the many

02:45promising economic opportunities that we have for them in the Philippines.

02:50Last night, a bilateral meeting between the Philippines and Vietnam was held, reinforcing

02:53the strategic partnership between the two countries.

02:56Both President Marcos Jr. and Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin agreed to continue

03:01the agreements that have yielded positive results for both nations, such as cooperation

03:06in rice trade, agriculture and preventing unnecessary encounters in the South China

03:11Sea.
