00:00Heat, they start preseason action night against the Charlotte Hornets.
00:05Tip off is at seven o'clock there.
00:06You can hear that here on five six WQAM.
00:09How do they do preseason basketball or preseason hockey versus football?
00:15Do they, they seem like they play, they play and then they'll stop playing by like the
00:20fourth quarter usually.
00:21Right.
00:22But sometimes even in the second, they're trying to build up to playing a full game.
00:25Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:26They do like, I imagine Jimmy didn't play at all last preseason, but he didn't play
00:31a lot at all.
00:32He didn't play a lot during the season either, so he played, he played yesterday in the scrimmage
00:37a little, a little, didn't score any points, but he played a little.
00:42And how was it in hockey?
00:44Hockey is weird because hockey does like split squads.
00:47They play a lot of young guys.
00:48They have a lot of guys up from camp, you know, so they'll do some games to warm it
00:53up.
00:54They'll split the games between Bob and night, you know?
00:56So a little action, baby, a little, a little bit.
00:58They're all getting back to build into the season, right?
01:01There's no, no playing and then starting to play, right?
01:04Except for Jimmy.
01:05See where I'm getting here.
01:07So tonight I would imagine you're going to get a little looky loot.
01:10Now you, I know everybody kind of rolled their eyes last night.
01:13You showed up for the red, white and pink game and immediately you hear Tyler Hero,
01:17Jaime Hawkins out, groin injury, and they're like, I think, suppose like I could already
01:24see the headlines now.
01:26It's like, well, you know, you can understand.
01:29He said nothing to worry about.
01:30So we'll see tonight.
01:31They always say nothing to worry about.
01:33And then a month later, the guy's playing his first game month later, the guy's got
01:37a foam, a foam neck holder to keep himself going.
01:41My goodness.
01:42Yeah.
01:43Um, so I don't know, you know, but last night it looked very much like the starting line
01:50that they rolled out yesterday was Jimmy Bam, Nico Terry.
01:55And then they put Alec Burks in the, what I imagine is going to be Tyler's spot.
01:59So Nico looks like I would guess he's got the inside track to, uh, to get that starting
02:03fifth spot.
02:04There's been some questions about what, what competitions are here in the middle of camp.
02:08Um, but it was fun.
02:09It was, it was fun.
02:10You said Bam was lighting it up from three yesterday.
02:14You got fuzzy.
02:15You got all warm and fuzzy.
02:16He was dude.
02:17He was hitting.
02:18I think he hit five from downtown yesterday.
02:21Five from downtown yesterday from Bam on a bio.
02:24How many did he take?
02:25Uh, 11.
02:26Oh, that's good.
02:2711.
02:28He hit a big five.
02:29He's the damn league.
02:30He had five out of the last, I think he had five of his first six.
02:34And then, uh, then he missed, he bricked his last like four, but he was, I mean, it wasn't
02:40like, you know, spot up, you know, sometimes a big man takes a three, he's wide open or
02:44whatever case.
02:45No, this, it looked like, I mean, yeah, there's no defense being played, but no, he was, he
02:49was, he was shooting them things up.
02:50He was, he was getting it going.
02:52You know, he was, he was letting it loose with the, uh, with the scrimmage.
02:58I like the red, the red.
02:59Yeah.
03:00I like the white on red with the pink, fancy, fancy pass by Terry.
03:05Ooh.
03:06You see that though?
03:07That was a quick release on that one.
03:08Yeah.
03:09Well, he was definitely, you know, one thing that was noticeable about Bam yesterday, boots
03:12on the ground, uh, during warmups, he's at like, even in his warmups, he's added different
03:19three point shots that he's doing.
03:20So he's doing a lot of stuff off movement and things like, he's not just doing spot
03:23up threes as the warmup.
03:24So most said, like he's shown he's capable.
03:27He's ready to, he said yesterday, he's ready to step right into the system and shoot them.
03:31And so I think, I think there's really something to SPO really trusting him now.
03:35And we talked to him a little bit about that.
03:37They bring in, um, Kaleo off the bench, Kaleo did come, come in off the bench.
03:45He came in off the bench, Niko, lighten it up from downtown there.
03:49Um, Kaleo look good.
03:51This team.
03:52And I said this when we were interviewing guys, in the course of six months, this team
03:58got big.
03:59Yeah.
04:00Right.
04:01Well, I'll tell you about that.
04:02Kaleo.
04:03Where?
04:04Oh, wow.
04:05Good call.
04:06I'm just saying way to go.
04:07Captain.
04:08Obvious.
04:09No, I'm just saying, see any flashes from him though.
04:15Did you see some stuff you liked?
04:17Yeah.
04:18Yeah.
04:19Larson.
04:20Great hair.
04:21Great hair.
04:22Really?
04:23I saw that bouncing just now.
04:26It was like, it was very flowy.
04:28Yup.
04:29Get ready for that.
04:30Great.
04:31Pella Larson hair.
04:32You see anything in oppressive, uh, out of number nine, he had the best game.
04:35I think Pella Larson had the best performance in the, in the scrimmage yesterday.
04:39He led him in scoring.
04:40He was everywhere.
04:41He was making every shot, every cut.
04:42He took the only, he made the only defensive player of the scrimmage where he took a charge
04:46and dad got to stay true to who I am, baby.
04:52Uh, Pella Larson was awesome yesterday.
04:55I'm trying to think who's the, well, it would be, um, who do we have that?
05:02The nine of tangible took a lot of charges.
05:04Uh, Duke Lowry, Lowry was the, Lowry took a lot of charges, but so did, um,
05:09no, no, no, not PJ.
05:10You D uh, not yet.
05:11Yeah.
05:12Baddie.
05:13Yeah.
05:14Baddie.
05:15It was bad.
05:16It was in there.
05:17That's the name of his foundation.
05:18Take charge.
05:19Oh, it's not take a charge, but I don't know, but it's, it's okay.
05:24I mean, that was some slack minus one for nitpicking.
05:28Oh, now we minus one.
05:31Wait, now we nitpick him and you laugh frog boy.
05:36If I, last time I recall the slightest slip on the work, no, we just go
05:44so demoralizing to me, right?
05:46I don't know why I read this guy's, I don't know why I read this.
05:51I don't know why I read this guy's a comment in Tony Romo voice, but
05:54whoo, bam, corner three leagues in trouble, Jim.
06:01What about a number 12?
06:03You see anything cool out of number 12?
06:05Uh, yeah.
06:06So some great assist from Drew Smith.
06:07He had a nice, uh, basket off the glass.
06:09You don't even call him by his name.
06:11No more.
06:12Number 12.
06:13Great assist there by Drew Smith.
06:15He didn't have a great assist.
06:16I don't like what you're doing to Drew Smith.
06:18I'm going to tell you like this.
06:19Yeah.
06:20The Heat really liked Drew Smith.
06:23Spode loves him.
06:24Spode loves him.
06:25And so from that standpoint, I'm gonna ride with Spode.
06:29Can I tell you something I saw yesterday?
06:31What?
06:33I didn't get video of it, but suppose, suppose little kid, his son.
06:37Yeah.
06:38This kid's got the handles been in one mixtape guy.
06:41What?
06:42Oh my God.
06:43Look at this kid.
06:44I was like going behind the back.
06:46I'm like, he's not even the size of the ball.
06:48Okay.
06:49It was incredible.
06:51Spode's probably got him.
06:53We're not going to be tall.
06:54So we, we got, we got to do all the intangible thing.
06:57Ball handling.
06:58Shoot three.
06:59Kid was handling like Kyrie in kindergarten.
07:02It was incredible.
07:03I was, I was, I was very, very impressed.
07:06I was like, what is he like six or seven?
07:09Would you say that Kyrie has the best handles in the league?
07:12I mean more.
07:13Little Spode.
07:16But I would say, yeah.
07:19Probably.
07:20Yeah.
07:21Nice.
07:22Probably.
07:23It's definitely fun.
07:24I'd say Terry's got great handles.
07:26It's fun watching him go up the court.
07:28He does.
07:29But, but he has that thing that we only saw once.
07:32Where he can get hot and just make everything.
07:37The, uh, the heat also announced yesterday that they are honoring Pat Riley.
07:42They are honoring Pat Riley.
07:44They are naming the court after him.
07:47Uh, I got this for video audience here.
07:50This is courtesy of the Miami heat.
07:52They, uh, they put a little montage together and then here is a Mickey
07:57Harrison, surprising Pat, giving him the news.
08:00The Miami Heat are going to be champions of the basketball game.
08:06I think, uh, the fortunes of the team dramatically changed with Pat
08:09Caperboard.
08:10It was clear that the heat were determined to make a statement about
08:14who they were.
08:16I believe that we can go down and change the culture and we can turn
08:19it quick.
08:20Don't back up.
08:21Run to it.
08:22All of a sudden the Miami Heat had something it never had before.
08:25It had an identity.
08:26He immediately made us relevant.
08:29Wait.
08:30Oh, put the ball behind the alley.
08:31And a jab, body shot.
08:35We're going to play with a lot of pride and I think you're going to
08:38take great pride in watching us play.
08:43Pat.
08:46We're entering our 30th season.
08:48Nick and I have been talking about what would be the best way to
08:53commemorate really the tremendous effect you've had on our
08:56organization, the Miami Heat and the city of Miami.
08:59We came up with the idea of naming the court after you.
09:03I hope you enjoy it.
09:06Are you kidding me?
09:10That looks great.
09:11And we got the logo.
09:15Wow.
09:17Enjoy it.
09:18It's going to be there forever.
09:20That wasn't the goal, but I appreciate it.
09:23Congratulations.
09:25Thanks for the gift.
09:30Damn, dude.
09:31Man.
09:33I'm not crying.
09:34You're crying.
09:40It's hot in here.
09:42The Lord.
09:43Jesus.
09:45Wow.
09:48If Pat Riley could cry, damn it, I could cry.
09:50Damn, dude.
09:51Wow.
09:53Wow.
09:54Earned it, dude.
09:55Earned it.
09:56Absolutely earned it.
09:58Oh, my God.
10:00Pat Riley.
10:01Pat Riley Court at the Casaya Center.
10:04Man.
10:06And no matter who purchases, whether it's AAA, Casaya, that fake Bitcoin,
10:14it'll always be Pat Riley Court, man.
10:16It's amazing.
10:17I like the autograph thing next to it, too.
10:19That's cool.
10:20That's like, you know, because I think they said in the statement,
10:23the only other guy who has this is Red Auerbach in the league.
10:26I think in college.
10:28I know Coach K has it, I think.
10:30Don't they have it?
10:31Wooden?
10:32Wooden.
10:33Yeah.
10:34John Wooden.
10:35John Wooden.
10:36That's a really cool.
10:37Like, look, I know maybe people were talking about Pat Riley statue.
10:39It is.
10:40It is.
10:42Now that you think about it, a lot of people have statues.
10:47Yep.
10:49If somebody came a field or court after you.
10:53Right.
10:54It can't be missed.
10:56If you watch any basketball, it cannot be missed.
11:00That's good, man.
11:02Great job by Mickey.
11:04He got him, too.
11:06Oh, did you see him?
11:07They got him, too.
11:09Got him to a theater or something like that?
11:11Hey, what's this?
11:13Heat TV's got a little montage here, something.
11:15I don't know.
11:16You do this.
11:1730 years with the Heat.
11:19Awesome.
11:21Awesome.
11:22Pat Riley's definitely changed the game down here.
11:24Needless to say, well-deserved.
11:26Oh, unbelievable.
11:28Yeah.
11:29Definitely deserved.
11:31Here's the one person down here.
11:33If he gets in front of a mic, the room's full.
11:35Yep.
11:36No, he gets a whole contingent.
11:38Right.
11:39Pat Riley speaking.
11:41I don't care where they are.
11:43That room is full.
11:45They'll ask divisive questions.
11:47I didn't ask divisive questions.
11:48I didn't ask divisive questions.
11:50You're a part of his history.
11:52What do you mean a part of his history?
11:54Astrid will always remember you.
11:56Dude.
11:58Somebody said Pat thought he was going to see Inside Out 2.
12:02The Kansas court is named after Naismith.
12:05Oh.
12:07But yeah, that's more of a college thing.
12:09Yeah.
12:11It's pretty cool that the Heat are doing that.
12:13Really, really great job by Mickey.
12:15That's what I said.
12:16That's what I said.
12:18Go to break.
12:20It got dusty.
12:22It got dusty in here after that.
12:24Wow.
12:26Hey, the delivery caught me off guard.
12:28Right.
12:30Yep.
12:32Good job.
12:34Damn.
12:36Don't it make you just want to give Pat Riley a hug?
12:38Right.
12:40Yeah.
12:41Doesn't do it.
12:43Doesn't do hugs.
12:45How do you feel?
12:47Do you think they know it's his last season?
12:49Do you think they're doing it for a particular reason?
12:51I mean, 30 is obviously a big anniversary.
12:53He's turning 80.
12:55Do you think that there's any hint that maybe he's done?
12:57I think that sometimes you should be celebrated before the end.
13:04Yeah.
13:06And show your real appreciation rather than after it's done.
13:09So I don't know if this is his last year.
13:12No.
13:13But even being discussed, you want to honor him in some way beforehand.
13:20Yep.
13:22So it'll be interesting with every.
13:26We were here.
13:28Pat Riley Court in the Casillas Center.
13:30Yep.
13:32Right.
13:33Jackson, Jackson, you know, Jackson.
13:35I can hear Jackson, Eric now already.
13:37Yep.
13:39From the P.
13:40Wow.
13:42No, dude.
13:44How'd you make it weird?
13:46Minus one for ruining a.
13:48Why?
13:50Minus one for ruining like a tear jerk moment.
13:54You just made it.
13:56You made it weird, Pat Riley.
13:58Yep.
14:00I tell you what, that is also true.
14:02Dave Jones.
14:04Miami Heat world class organization from top to the bottom.
14:06Yeah, definitely.
14:08We'll show you.
14:09We may have complained.
14:11About some of the moves they made, but we have never questioned.
14:17The way and the manner in which they do things.
14:20Definitely.
14:21Ever.
