00:00Not only did the number of Filipinos who were included in the POGO not reach half,
00:05but they also voluntarily downgraded their working visas according to the Bureau of Immigration.
00:11Those who did not reach the deadline yesterday were sent back to the country at an earlier time.
00:17Dano Tingkungco is back.
00:22The deadline of the Bureau of Immigration was passed yesterday, October 15,
00:26to voluntarily downgrade the working visas of all POGO employees.
00:32But according to the BI, of the more than 30,000 POGO workers,
00:36less than half or 12,000 only volunteered to exchange temporary visitor visas.
00:43Of those who downgraded, 17 were caught in a scam hub in Makati.
00:50According to the Bureau of Immigration,
00:52POGO foreign workers who voluntarily downgraded their work visas
00:56will be given time to finish any pending business in the Philippines.
01:01They automatically get 59 days to wind down their affairs.
01:05Those who voluntarily left the country and downgraded their visas
01:11may return to the Philippines if they have legitimate reasons to go back to the country.
01:16For example, those with families here already,
01:19those who want to apply on other sectors legitimately.
01:24Those who did not voluntarily downgrade their visas
01:27were automatically dismissed by the order to leave that is already recorded in their passport.
01:32This means that they need to leave the country as soon as possible.
01:37The BI clarified that even if this is not a derogatory record,
01:40it is permanently placed in the passport of a foreigner
01:43and can be a barrier for them to return to the country.
01:46If the immigration officers see this,
01:48there will be more scrutiny against them because
01:52we consider that to be a red flag because they stayed here for a long time
01:56without legally downgrading their visas.
02:00Once January enters, those who stayed in the country
02:04will be caught to be deported and blacklisted.
02:07We are monitoring their departure up until the end of the year.
02:11After the year ends, we consider all of that to be illegal
02:15whether they filed for downgrading,
02:18whether they did not file for it,
02:21as long as they remain inside the country.
