00:00All right, welcome in to another episode of the Ryan and Goodman podcast.
00:24We are without Gary Tanguay again.
00:27This is two straight weeks, I'm wondering if he's on a beach somewhere, Bob.
00:31I don't know.
00:32No, he's in front of the camera.
00:35Much better.
00:36Much better.
00:37Trying to get in front of the camera.
00:39So that's what he's about.
00:40He's otherwise occupied today.
00:42All right.
00:43But I'm sure he's with us in spirit, don't worry.
00:45That's right.
00:46That's right.
00:47That's right.
00:48All right.
00:49Anyway, the podcast is sponsored by PrizePix, the exclusive daily fantasy partner of CLNS
00:54Media Network.
00:56Pick more, pick less with PrizePix.
00:59All right.
01:00Let's get to it, Bob.
01:01The season's not that far away.
01:03Not that far away.
01:05You know this with these preseason games.
01:08Last night, it was strange watching Klay Thompson in another uniform than the Golden
01:15State Warriors, but he played for Dallas.
01:19I think he scored about 10 points in the first half, played a bunch of minutes, and you know.
01:24And guess what?
01:25It was two for four on twos and three for five on threes.
01:28Ain't nothing changed, folks.
01:30No doubt.
01:31Dallas will take that.
01:32He could be a really good component, and you know he'll play well.
01:38You know what I mean?
01:39He'll be a good teammate.
01:41He'll be an influence in the locker room, I'm sure, as well as on the court.
01:46That's a really good pickup for them, I think.
01:48Yeah.
01:49Yeah.
01:50Very good.
01:51He should be a good influence.
01:52He should.
01:53It's quiet, but you wonder how, you gotta figure, even Luka and Kyrie, who have two
01:59pretty good-sized egos, should have a lot of respect for a guy who's won at that level
02:05like Klay.
02:06He can flash the four rings.
02:08Exactly.
02:09Yeah, that should do it.
02:10Right?
02:11Yeah.
02:12By the way, he's wearing number 31.
02:15He couldn't get his standard 11 because Kyrie has it.
02:19And so he chose 31 in honor of Reggie Miller.
02:22Ooh, interesting.
02:24Well, you know, the great godfather of the three-point shooters, right?
02:28So he's a member of the Klan, you know?
02:32So he chose Reggie Miller, 31.
02:35He played 10 minutes, 18 minutes, and he had 10 points, as I said.
02:41So it's new era.
02:42That's it.
02:43And that'll be worth bare watching.
02:46You know, it'll be interesting, too.
02:47Obviously, he's gotten older, but he's a few years removed from the injuries.
02:51So you wonder if maybe he becomes more consistent in a way, having Kyrie and Luka.
02:57You know, he can just kind of stand out there, Bob, and, you know, he might get some uncontested
03:02threes.
03:03Well, yeah.
03:04Oh, no.
03:05It's okay.
03:06Luka will find him if he has to.
03:07And you know, if Kyrie's in the right mood, you know, he might, you know, well, we don't
03:12know about that.
03:13But, you know, that's what...
03:14Hey, come on.
03:15Take it easy.
03:16Kyrie was good last year.
03:17Yeah.
03:18He's talented.
03:19Look, he's one of the most gifted guards ever played in the NBA.
03:22We know that.
03:23He's got raw talent up the wazoo, you know, but sometimes he gets a bit distracted.
03:28But anyway, no, they're going to be interesting.
03:30So it's, you know, I wish Klay Thompson well.
03:35So I told you this last week when we did our pod, I ended up seeing Jalen Brunson a few
03:40hours later down at College of Charleston and had a chance to chat with him for a while
03:46while we were watching practice over there.
03:48And then he talked to the team for probably about 15, 20 minutes afterwards.
03:52And the first question I asked him, Bob, I'm like, why the hell did you leave $100 million
03:57on the table?
03:58And he looked at me and the beauty of Jalen Brunson is like, he's just so honest.
04:05You know, first of all, like, that's just who he is.
04:08And the first thing he says to me, he's like, well, I wasn't eligible for it now.
04:13You know, he's eligible for it next year.
04:15But, you know, he goes, he goes, well, part of it is just kind of taking care of my future
04:20and stability and everything like that.
04:22And my dad only played nine years in the NBA, so he didn't get the same perks when it came
04:29to like, I guess they get like, lifetime, maybe health benefits for media family or
04:35something like that.
04:36If you get 10 years in, this takes me to 10 years in, like, think about that concept and
04:43what he's thinking about and giving up, again, a boatload of money because he's saying to
04:50himself, and I said this, I said, you know, Jalen, like, think about this.
04:54If I had told you this five years ago when you were at Villanova, that you would get
04:57this type of money, forget about what you could have gotten next year and leaving $100
05:01million on the table, getting whatever it is, $40 million a year, something like that.
05:05You know, what would you have said?
05:07And he looked at me, he's like, yeah, I would have said you were crazy.
05:10Well, he's got great perspective.
05:12And, you know, I still have to say it every time.
05:17I was wrong.
05:18I loved him.
05:19I wanted him myself.
05:20But when the Knicks got him and paid him what they paid him, I said, wait a minute.
05:25He's an auxiliary player.
05:27This is overpaying.
05:28I'm sorry.
05:29I like him.
05:29But come on.
05:30Well, mea culpa a thousand times over on that one.
05:33He's a great player.
05:35And he's been a godsend to the Knicks, and they're very lucky to have him.
05:39It was their first practice with Karl-Anthony Towns that day.
05:43And he said, he goes, yeah, he goes, I got the ball in the post and was backing somebody
05:50down, you know, what he does, right?
05:52He posts up the only guard in the, you know, like he's been doing that since Villanova,
05:56probably since high school days.
05:58And he said, I get the ball in the post and they doubled me.
06:01And I look out there and I see one of the best shooting big men in the history of the
06:06game out there wide open.
06:08And he's like, this is going to be fun.
06:11Oh, they're going to you're going to have to honor him.
06:12I mean, this is a plus minus.
06:14We know there's areas where he's not so great, but the man can shoot the basketball and he
06:19will enhance that offenses.
06:21No, I don't see any way you can say otherwise.
06:23You know, they they might be looking for him at the other end to do some stuff he's not
06:26used to doing or usually does.
06:27That's their they know that you think they're stupid.
06:29That's stupid.
06:29They know they know what the what the plus minus is on him.
06:34But boy, he's going to be it's going to enhance them.
06:37There's no no question about it.
06:39You know what the beauty to of listening to him talk to to the players of College of
06:44Charleston, obviously those kids were completely locked into him.
06:49You know, some of the things he said were interesting, you know, the mental side of
06:52the game, more important, the physical side.
06:54But, you know, just listening to him when they were asking him questions, most guys,
07:00you know, they rattle off an answer right away.
07:02And Jalen Brunson, like, took a few seconds to come up with a thoughtful answer, wasn't
07:09just like thrown around like some canned answer that he's been asked.
07:14He was actually thinking through this thing of how to help these kids, because let's
07:19face it, he was in a situation.
07:21He was highly recruited coming out of high school.
07:23But he said he's like nobody said he goes, I'm not the fastest, not the biggest.
07:29I'm not the most athletic.
07:31Like nothing about me jumps off the page.
07:34But I knew my role in college and I embraced it.
07:37I didn't fight it.
07:39I embraced my role in college.
07:40And eventually I was able to show people that I could do more.
07:46Yeah, no, he's one of those guys.
07:47He just knows how to play capital letters.
07:51And and there's got some guys who like that are six, five, some are six, nine.
07:56But he happens to be maybe six, two.
07:59If we stretch him a little.
08:01And but boy, he's a basketball player.
08:04And so it's so good to hear this good, nice to have people like that around.
08:09Like one of those guys that's not going to change.
08:11Like I can I can guarantee Jalen Brunson is is not going to change.
08:16And his dad, Rick, was there.
08:17The Salem High School product.
08:20Yeah. You know, it's kind of kind of fun to watch him, too.
08:24He was certainly very tough on Jalen when when he was, you know,
08:29coaching and working him out when he was when he was younger.
08:31All right. Let's get to
08:34I think the most interesting thing, you know,
08:37there's a lot of preseason games going on.
08:40You know, you try to get what you can from some of these things.
08:43I'm looking at the rookies as much as anything, Bob.
08:46You know, the Steph Castles in San Antonio, the Shepherds in Houston
08:50and just kind of seeing how they're they're doing.
08:52But there's an annual GM survey
08:56that comes out before every every season.
09:00This one from NBA dot com and a lot of things in there.
09:06A lot of questions.
09:07A lot of questions. So, you know, we can't go through them all.

09:59Prize picks run your game.
10:02All right. So let's start with let's start with a big one.
10:05Eighty three percent of the GM's
10:09holding this pick the Boston Celtics to repeat to win again.
10:14Now, that didn't surprise me, Bob.
10:16That didn't surprise me.
10:18What did surprise me was who was number two.
10:21The Oklahoma City Thunder at 13 percent.
10:25So 96 percent of the people polled pick either the Boston Celtics or
10:32Massachusetts native Mark Dagnall's Oklahoma City Thunder.
10:37Mark, who coached at Holy Cross.
10:40He was a I think he was basically a I don't even know
10:44if he was a full time assistant. He was a great.
10:46Well, it's a very quickly for people don't know.
10:48And I love the story.
10:50He's a UConn grad.
10:51And and he was going to go to grad school.
10:54That was his plan.
10:55And it was.
10:57And George Blaney talked him into going into coaching
11:00and taking that as that grad assistant deal that launched his career.
11:06And here he is.
11:08Yeah, that they have.
11:10I have a question since we got him, but their first exhibition
11:14was against a New Zealand team, New Zealand breakers.
11:16OK, they had a one 1789 something.
11:19He only played eight guys.
11:22Yeah, I just what's up with that?
11:23That's very odd in the exhibition, unless he was going to play
11:26in a different eight the next night, fully, you know, maybe.
11:29I don't know if he's done that.
11:30But the Celtics, by contrast, played 17 guys in the first exhibition game.
11:35I think part of it is
11:38maybe maybe these guys at Oklahoma City are so young
11:41that he's not worried about minutes with the time.
11:43I know, but I just thought that was unusual for an exhibition
11:46because you're used to seeing.
11:48Is there anybody else, Bob?
11:49Bob, would you go?
11:51I mean, I assume you're picking the Celtics to repeat.
11:54Maybe you're not.
11:56Who's their biggest competition?
11:57Is it Oklahoma City?
11:58I'm just not. You don't know yet.
12:00But we've got two teams in the east that I think have improved themselves.
12:04And we and I believe in themselves, the Knicks.
12:08Or maybe they're going to be overhyped.
12:09You know, that's been known to happen in New York City in any sport.
12:13And I'm not being parochial about this.
12:15I'm I grew up in 60 miles from New York.
12:18But I know really.
12:19But the press gets hyperventilated at times and in any sport
12:24and with the Knicks, with the with the New York teams.
12:26OK, but I'm I'm one of their boosters.
12:29I like this this lineup.
12:32I like the sufficient depth, I think.
12:34And and I certainly respect Tibbs, Tom Thibodeau.
12:38So I think they're going to be a formidable challenger.
12:40I think that they're they're going to win 50s over under and very likely 55.
12:46So there's going to have, you know, going to have to match that
12:48just to win the division and the Sixers with George and some
12:53good pieces.
12:54They added some depth and that they needed to.
12:58So I think now the next question, of course, is in the middle,
13:01you know, right now because of, you know,
13:05they think they answered it with Carl Anthony Towns.
13:08And certainly he's going to help their offense.
13:11And and maybe when Mitchell Robinson gets healthy,
13:14which won't be apparently until January at earliest,
13:17they'll have a formidable, you know, a nice one, two combo of contrasts
13:23because Robinson is a defender and a and a alley oop guy.
13:28And Towns is a is a skilled offensive center, really, as there isn't a league.
13:33Frankly, well, I shouldn't say that.
13:35It's all Nicole's out there.
13:36It's just, you know, he's right.
13:38He's on the next tier.
13:39Jokic is out by himself.
13:40OK, now we draw a line.
13:42We got Embiid.
13:42We got towns who have similar offensive strengths.
13:45Anyway, the Knicks and the West, there's a lot of OK teams.
13:49But I think, you know, the Minnesota, I think they
13:53they showed us something last year.
13:56And we'll we'll see about them.
13:57But but, OK, see, yeah.
13:59But but that is an overwhelming
14:01attribute to the Celtics, the respect that they've earned.
14:05Yeah, I agree.
14:06I mean, they're the prohibitive favorites.
14:08And, you know, it's as I said, it's where I keep saying
14:11I got to do the homework and I haven't done it, but I can't.
14:14I don't know of any other team that championed a champion
14:17who returned as many impactful players and lost.
14:21But it's like, I'll go the other way.
14:23Didn't lose anything, anything that mattered, nothing that mattered.
14:27And and and still young enough.
14:30You know, that's the way right now.
14:32They did your people get like Tatum and Brown are now in their prime.
14:38Your prime start at 25 to 30, 31.
14:41They're now in their prime.
14:43The guards are a little, you know, a little older.
14:45Holiday is definitely older and white is but an hour, of course.
14:49But but Prisingas is in his prime.
14:51So when did I get him?
14:52They're in their prime.
14:53Does the door is open, baby?
14:56How many? I'm going to I'm going to put you to it here.
14:59And I know it's hard because we don't know what the rosters
15:02are going to look like for whatever teams are going to be on.
15:04But how many titles?
15:05You're you're a guess.
15:07How many titles does Jason Tatum finish his career with?
15:12How many titles is Jalen Brown finish his career with?
15:14And you have to take into account.
15:16It's a little bit of a guessing game here because you got to take into account, too.
15:19Did they both stay with the Celtics long term?
15:21Like your best guess is what?
15:24Who? Two apiece.
15:27Yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:29And if they don't do it this year, it'll be reminiscent of the of the last
15:33big three who had a three year window and it could have won all three.
15:36Except for injury.
15:37You don't know if they're both healthy and breathing when,
15:40you know, in the final start or when the playoffs start.
15:43OK, well, we'll know.
15:44But everything's contingent on that for everybody.
15:46We know that. We know that.
15:47Historically, you go right back to the 1958, for Christ's sake,
15:50with Russell being hurt.
15:52So, you know, it's it's.
15:54But I think I could I'd like to say three.
15:56I'd like to say.
15:57But I mean, I just respect the competition.
15:59It's hard to win.
16:00And there's a lot of good coaches out there.
16:03I just I I'm just
16:07being a little bit on the pessimistic side with two.
16:10No, I think you're being realistic because a lot of people would be like,
16:12all right, they already won one.
16:14They're in their prime now.
16:15They're going to win three or four.
16:16Well, you know how hard it is to win three or four titles?
16:19Oh, yeah. We've had a team just do it.
16:21We have two of them in the last 20 years that have done it.
16:23Or three with the Lakers.
16:25It's been done.
16:25But but yeah, but it's it's it's hard.
16:28So that's all I'm just taking them year by year.
16:31I'm not going to get ahead of the game.
16:33I'm not. But that's that's the way I'm I'm always cautiously optimistic.
16:37I'm not generally totally optimistic about anything.
16:40So let's run through a few of these.
16:41I'm just going to run down until.
16:43Yeah, so we had some interesting ones.
16:47If you were to start a franchise today and could sign any player
16:51Victor Wimben Yama, no surprise there.
16:53Who's the best point guard?
16:55Luka gets the edge over Shea Gildas Alexander.
16:59Best shooting guard, Anthony Edwards over Devin Booker.
17:02Best small forward Jason Tatum by a landslide.
17:06I guess who's number two?
17:08Yeah, a non a non small forward.
17:10Yeah, but to me, he is.
17:12I still can't my head.
17:14I can't I can't call him a guard at all.
17:17I know he's got the ball all the time.
17:19I never thought of it.
17:21I can't believe I couldn't believe it when people were talking about.
17:23Don, he's to me, he's a forward who have who handles the ball,
17:27but he's got the ball all the time. I understand that.
17:29And but, you know, I guess when I think of point guards, you know,
17:32I think of, you know, tiny Archibald, right?
17:34I think of Bob Cousy and Bob Davies.
17:36I think I think of Isaiah Thomas.
17:39I, you know, but I don't think of a six, seven Slovenian, you know,
17:42and who who isn't that fast or anything else.
17:45He's talking about knowing how to play guy, you know.
17:48OK, but how about that fact that he does?
17:50He faces second in the voting for small forward and a first.
17:56So does he have to pick one position for him, Bob?
18:00Well, that's what he is.
18:02He's beautifully positionless.
18:04It's nice. All right.
18:06What stands out to you? Is there something I'll give you one for me?
18:10There weren't there weren't a lot of huge, huge moves over the offseason
18:13that were like, I mean, there were there were some impactful moves, obviously.
18:17Yeah, we're going to Philly.
18:18Yeah. Cal Bridges to New York Towns going to New York.
18:21We talked about.
18:22But the most underrated player acquisition I thought was interesting.
18:25And it is Oklahoma City.
18:28Alex Caruso.
18:29How about that?
18:30He finished his fifth in that in that, you know, and you know, I remember
18:34who was it was the Wall Street Journal is the guy who alerted me to him
18:38a few years ago.
18:39It was Jason Gay.
18:40I pretty much I mean, if it wasn't Jason, it was somebody that they have about
18:44this guy.
18:46He doesn't look like it looks like, you know, he's your accountant.
18:51YMCA player.
18:52But yeah.
18:54And the stats, the metrics, favorite basketball metrics
18:59and favorite him, not not conventional statistics.
19:02But he is a three point shooter.
19:03But but that that his presence on the court was very impactful at the time.
19:09And you didn't realize this at the time.
19:11And he's a he's a he's a he fools you.
19:15It's a complete because you look at him, you still can't take him seriously.
19:18You know, it's so good defensively now, too.
19:21He's so good.
19:22But he makes threes and he makes the right play.
19:24And he is. Yeah, that's a bad.
19:26Well, the one that right away, the number one question I went, oh, really?
19:30The number one pick for
19:33MVP is SGA.
19:35Yeah. Yeah.
19:36Wow. I was a little surprised at that.
19:38I want to go back with Joe Kitsch until everybody likes Oklahoma City.
19:41Evidently, evidently, that's the hip, you know, that's
19:45Mark Daniel, the pride of Lemonster, Miss.
19:48I know we we still got to get him on.
19:50We I know I've texted with him.
19:53Yeah, he said he was we needed to probably do it in the offseason.
19:56But we'll see. Yeah.
19:57Maybe get him on at some point here.

21:43Rookie of the year, Bob.
21:45Wide open.
21:46I think they have three guys.
21:47Reed Shepard.
21:48First of all, since most people don't even know who the number one pick was.
21:51Right, right. Literally, literally.
21:53And so, yeah, I'm trying to find who was it.
21:58Reed Shepard got 50 percent.
22:00Reed Shepard was second and Steph Castle third.
22:04I like Castle.
22:05I'm a big Castle guy.
22:07But Reed Shepard.
22:09I saw somebody put out something last week that I kind of laughed at.
22:12And they were like, Reed Shepard
22:14has the best chance to be the next Steph Curry.
22:17And I'm like, no, don't do that.
22:19Well, that's that's.
22:20Don't do that.
22:21That's you know, that's inevitable.
22:23Things like that.
22:24And that happens.
22:26People get those labels and because they're, you know, hey,
22:30you know, he's a shooting guard and it's yeah, fine.
22:33OK, OK. Yeah, Castle.
22:37Who have been best player in five years?
22:39Reed Shepard, again, by a big margin.
22:42Stephon Castle, Zachary Resacher.
22:44I have to have you pronounce it.
22:46Resacher, Resacher.
22:47Resacher Nasser Al-Maul.
22:49I should know better.
22:50Bob Carrington, who I know nothing about.
22:52He's not going to pit.
22:53He's a six five big combo guard, more of a point
22:57who only played one year at Pittsburgh, was like a top
22:59hundred player coming into college.
23:02He's got huge upside, huge.
23:04But I love that five years ago, the pick was Zion Williamson.
23:08Yeah, five. OK.
23:10And OK. How about this one, Bob?
23:12Bob, ready for this one?
23:13Yeah, because at his age, who is the best perimeter defender in the NBA?
23:17Drew Holiday, 43% of the votes.
23:20How about that?
23:21That's good. 33, right?
23:22At least 34.
23:23Right. I mean, that's crazy.
23:26Yeah, here it is. OK.
23:27Best player, defensive player in general, Wimbayana.
23:29And then Bam Gobert, Holiday for Giannis A.D.
23:35Yeah. And the very underrated, unknown Herb Jones.
23:38And I love him.
23:40Nice. Love her.
23:41Classics. Yes.
23:43Auxiliary player, if you will.
23:45Yeah. OK. Here's one for you.
23:47Ready? You ready for this one, Bob?
23:48All right.
23:49Who's the best coach in the NBA?
23:52Spolstra got 69%.
23:55Mark Dagnall, second at 17%.
23:58Yeah. Ahead of Steve Kerr.
24:00Yeah. Amazing, right?
24:03Yep. Colston, you know, he can get that speech
24:07ready for Springfield any day now that he's going to make in a few years.
24:10I can tell you that.
24:12Let's coach makes the best in-game adjustments.
24:15Tyrone Lue. Interesting.
24:17That's close with Spolstra and Daniel right up there.
24:20Number three.
24:23Best offense, Rick Carlisle.
24:25Joe Mazzola, second.
24:27OK, of course, it helps.
24:28It helps when you've got everybody.
24:30We can put five guys on the floor to make threes at a time, but that's OK.
24:34We don't mind that.
24:35Defensive scheme, Spolstra, Chris Finch.
24:38Oh, very close with Tibbs and Finch.
24:41Joe's fourth.
24:43Yeah. Yeah, pretty good.
24:47Best assistant coach.
24:49Sam Cassell.
24:50Sam Cassell.
24:51Yeah. It's about time for him to get a job, get a job.
24:55By the way, Maine Central Institute product.
24:57If anybody wants to know, I didn't know that.
24:59I didn't know about that.
25:00I know that because a
25:03son of one of our best friends played against him during this year.
25:06It was his backcourt mate in college.
25:12I know I should know.
25:13Go ahead, Bob Sura.
25:15Oh, Bobby. Oh, oh, wow.
25:17Yeah. Right.
25:19Yeah. I remember him six.
25:20Yep. Six, five.
25:21He's a very athletic.
25:23Yes, he could jump.
25:24He could absolutely jump.
25:25All right.
25:27OK, let's we'll move on.
25:29We'll move on.
25:29And, you know, not a ton going on right now.
25:33We'll wrap this up certainly in the next couple of weeks
25:36once the games start to actually count.
25:38Yeah, but we don't want to we don't want to go without.
25:41I know you wanted to give somebody a little bit.
25:45I wanted to shout out to a guy with a nice career
25:50that was one of those guys that people
25:54you people want to get them and then they're not afraid to lose them.
25:57Either way, you know, you mean that?
25:59But he helps you.
25:59Danny Green retired.
26:01Danny Green was 37.
26:03He broke in and oh, nine, nine, ten.
26:08And was a member of three championship teams.
26:11But one of the few people with different, different ones.
26:14I think that's who the other one is.
26:15It's only one person can say that.
26:17And San Antonio in 14, Toronto in 19 and the Lakers in 20.
26:22And here's something I didn't realize until I was doing my little research.
26:25He was a starter on all three of those teams.
26:27Wow.
26:28Now, the most minutes he ever played in a season
26:31per game was twenty eight for Toronto in twenty seven point seven
26:35and nineteen and the twenty eighteen nineteen.
26:37OK, he had three years of double
26:41figure scoring, his career is eight point seven, but he was a defender.
26:45His high games were thirty three points, twelve rebounds, seven assists.
26:50But he was a solid, useful player,
26:54you know, and and could enhance and help any team at any time.
26:58And he had a nice career.
27:01He's got nothing to be nothing to apologize for.
27:03I remember the day when he was at Carolina,
27:06where PC was playing them very well, really, really tough.
27:09And he took over the game.
27:10He took it over and won the game.
27:11That's that's why I was introduced to Danny Green, the pride of Babylon,
27:14Long Island, by the way.
27:16I saw him play in high school.
27:17I saw him play.
27:18Of course, but in the St.
27:20Mary's, he put it St.
27:21Mary's for Tim Cluse, who went on to be a longtime coach at Iona.
27:26Oh, yes, I remember him.
27:28But yeah, Danny Green was just he was just a winner
27:31and he wasn't the most athletic dude, but he knew how to play.
27:34Became a great defender.
27:36Because again, his IQ was was completely off the off the charts.
27:41An NCAA college basketball champion, a three time NBA champion,
27:46and he'll be a good NBA TV analyst as well.
27:51OK, yeah.
27:52So we get getting ready to bounce that ball first time at 22nd of 22nd of October.
27:58Is that what is the 22nd?
27:5922nd, the Knicks come to town.
28:01And I feel like the preseason is longer this year than normal.
28:06I'm not sure that I don't know.
28:08I don't know what feels it.
28:09And I know where I want that.
28:11We can't even imagine.
28:12And I and even I go back to 1969.
28:15And it's still it was a fascinating story.
28:18Even then, the number of exhibitions they played in the old, old days.
28:22Yeah, we're talking 18 or 20.
28:24Wow. Around New England.
28:26The Celtics, I mean, yeah, they play an incredible number of exhibitions.
28:30And and, you know, now, you know, obviously in my day to place eight.
28:36You know, back in the in the 70s, they play eight.
28:39And we travel, you know, a lot.
28:41And but but never, never anywhere as exotic as Abu Dhabi.
28:45I must say that
28:47uptown Pennsylvania has is the lure, but not not not not quite the same.
28:51No, no, I'm not.
28:53You know, I'm not sure they're sending that many people
28:56to cover the Celtics in Abu Dhabi.
28:59No, no, no, no.
29:02But but so all we just keep waiting.
29:06Nothing's changed. Nothing new with them since we last convened.
29:09No, no, no.
29:10And again, we'll we'll we'll ramp this thing up next week
29:14when we get Gary back.
29:16And and I'm sure some news will will happen,
29:19especially now that Shamshirani is at ESPN.
29:23He's already getting credit for breaking the Danny Green story
29:26already the first day on the job.
29:27He's going to own it all.
29:28He's going to own it because Woj is out.
29:31I don't know how long Woj says he's retired, Bob.
29:35I don't know what that means.
29:37I think he retired from that job, but I still
29:41read the general manager at St. Bonaventure going to the alma mater.
29:45Yeah, I'm not sure that lasts more than a year.
29:47We'll see. We'll see.
29:48Well, listen, you don't retire right now
29:51and go to college basketball and become the general manager
29:54because those jobs, they suck right now.
29:57They're about raising money, raising NIL.
30:00That that will have, honestly, more pressure, more hours
30:04than than Woj thinks.
30:06By the way, I see that the transfer portal time is being reduced.
30:11Thirty, thirty days.
30:13Thank you, Ben.
30:15Did that make me happy when I saw?
30:17That's good.
30:18I'd like it reduced to seven days, Bob.
30:20Bob, if they could cut it to seven days,
30:24that would be perfect.
30:25Happy to leave you with a smile on your face.
30:27That's all right.
