00:00Hello. Following some sunshine to start the week, it's a clear and in some places chilly night.
00:06Tuesday starts off with fairly low temperatures across the heart of England and Wales,
00:11under those clear skies and with light winds.
00:13But further north, we've still got a brisk breeze continuing overnight.
00:16We've still got one or two showers coming into parts of North Wales, North West England,
00:19but more especially Northern and Western Scotland, and a lot of cloud here as well.
00:23So I think towards the North West, temperatures holding up at 6, 7, 8 Celsius.
00:28It's further south where we've got those extensive clear spells.
00:31Watch out for the full moon as well.
00:33And some shelter from the breeze, 3, 4 Celsius typically,
00:37but in some shelter spots, low single figures or even zero degrees in one or two locations.
00:42So certainly a chill in the air as we start off Tuesday across a large part of England and Wales,
00:47into Southern and Eastern Scotland as well, bright skies but cool air.
00:51And then as we go through the morning, little change for England and Wales at least.
00:56Some cloud will build, but certainly in the south we keep long spells of sunshine.
01:00Elsewhere, the cloud tends to thicken across Western Scotland in particular,
01:05and here outbreaks of rain replace the early showers.
01:08Those outbreaks of rain perhaps just brushing the far north of Northern Ireland as well.
01:1213 or 14 Celsius for Scotland and Northern Ireland, 15, 16 Celsius further south across England and Wales,
01:19with light winds and sunny spells here after the chilly start.
01:23Actually quite a pleasant October afternoon to come.
01:26Into Tuesday evening, the cloud and the outbreaks of rain in the north-west tend to continue.
01:32On and off initially, but you can see here a large area of rain moving in as the night goes on,
01:38and that will push into Northern Ireland, much of Scotland, eventually north-west England and north Wales.
01:44Towards the south-east, clear spells continue and another cool night to come.
01:49Temperatures again mid to low single figures in some sheltered spots,
01:53but much milder towards the north-west because of all the weather that's going to be happening overnight,
01:57and certainly a wet start to the day for much of Scotland.
02:00Northern Ireland initially, but it does clear quite quickly here,
02:03and then that rain pushes into Northern England, Wales and eventually the Midlands by the afternoon.
02:08It really takes its time as it moves into central UK.
02:11It slows down and it turns more showery, so not a great deal of rain left on it.
02:15Brighter skies follow for Scotland and Northern Ireland, one or two showers,
02:18but otherwise sunny spells by the end of the afternoon, and there'll be some sunshine ahead of it as well.
02:22That's where the highest temperatures will be, 16 or 17 Celsius, again 13 or 14 towards the north.
02:29Now the cold front that slices the country in two is just the beginning of much more unsettled weather
02:35expected to arrive for later this week.
02:38You can see a couple of areas of low pressure out in the Atlantic waiting to move in.
02:42Some uncertainty about how the jet stream will pick up these and interact with them,
02:46so uncertainty on the details of wind and rain for Thursday and Friday,
02:50but either way the weather does look very unsettled as we end the week.
