00:00Hi there, the heavy rain and thousands of lightning strikes that we saw across East Anglia and the south-east earlier in the day
00:07has cleared the humidity that we've seen so much of recently, much fresher air arriving from the west.
00:13Clear spells as well overnight for England, Wales, parts of northern Scotland
00:17and under those clear skies a more comfortable night for sleeping.
00:20But areas of cloud will drift in elsewhere, some showery rain
00:24eventually affecting west Wales and the far south-west as well as parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:29Temperatures dipping to 10 to 14 Celsius in main urban areas, single figures in some sheltered spots.
00:36And as we start off Friday, that fresh feel but plenty of sunshine for the Midlands, East Wales,
00:41Southern and Eastern England as well as Northern Scotland.
00:44Otherwise we've got those areas of cloud, some persistent rain in places, turning more showery
00:50and so scattered showers for the likes of Wales into the south-west.
00:54Those showers drifting away from Northern Ireland but developing across Northern England, Southern and Central Scotland
00:59where they will be of a heavy nature.
01:02The north of Scotland mostly staying dry with sunny spells and dry for the Midlands,
01:06south-east and east England with some sunshine and that fresher feel.
01:11So less humid, 24 or 25 Celsius in the south-east, 18 to 21 or 22 Celsius towards the north and west.
01:20The showers continue for a time, they tend to drift on Friday evening towards the north-east.
01:25They'll eventually ease away in many spots but we keep a lot of cloud down the spine of the country,
01:30eastern and into southern Scotland, parts of central and northern England.
01:35Clear spells elsewhere, some fog patches actually forming across south-west England as well as Wales.
01:41But away from the cloud, temperatures again dipping into the single figures in places,
01:45mid-single figures possible for parts of Scotland, perhaps Northern Ireland.
01:49Cool start to the bank holiday weekend.
01:52Not a bank holiday for Scotland of course but for many this long weekend promises plenty of fine weather.
01:58There will be one or two showers developing by day on Saturday.
02:02Away from those showers though, light winds, sunny spells and feeling pleasant with that sunshine.
02:07Temperatures up to the low to mid-20s.
02:10Similar conditions on Sunday and Monday of course as a full weekend forecast on the Met Office YouTube channel.
02:17But for now that's all for me and you can stay across all the updates on our social media channels,
02:23Twitter, Facebook as well as TikTok. Bye bye.
