It's a mixed picture this week but many places will be dry with the showers mostly scattered across the south. Where it's sunny temperatures will be above average, but it'll often be cloudy in the east and cool.

00:00Hello, welcome to your week ahead forecast from the Met Office.
00:04Not a lot of heat in the forecast this week,
00:06but not a huge amount of rain either.
00:08There'll be a lot of dry and fine weather
00:10with some sunny spells.
00:11The mornings will be fairly chilly,
00:13and at times, particularly from midweek onwards,
00:16it's going to be fairly cloudy and quite cool
00:18across parts of the east.
00:20Some thunderstorms around, though,
00:21to start off this week ahead forecast
00:24from this area of low pressure across the south.
00:26High pressure is dominating further north,
00:29so we're going to have a north-south split again
00:31on Tuesday with much of Scotland, Northern Ireland
00:34set fair, these weather fronts across England and Wales
00:36providing quite a lot of cloud.
00:38Some showery rain along the south coast early on,
00:41and a zone of dull and damp weather
00:43over the Midlands, parts of South Wales.
00:45But both areas of rain should fizzle out.
00:47There is the chance, again, of some heavy showers
00:49developing across parts of the south in the afternoon.
00:52But much of North Wales, Northern England
00:54should brighten up.
00:55And as I said, Scotland and Northern Ireland largely fine
00:58here.
00:58It will be cloudier, perhaps, along the northernmost coasts
01:01with a bit of a breeze coming in from the north.
01:03That's why it's not especially warm.
01:05But we could still get across southwest Scotland
01:08up to 24, 25 degrees Celsius.
01:11Cooler on those North Sea coasts and cooler
01:13where it stays predominantly cloudy across the south.
01:17The big picture for Tuesday night to Wednesday
01:19shows the high pressure toppling more in
01:22and bringing more of an influence of our weather,
01:24bringing more dry weather.
01:25But this weather front's never completely clearing away.
01:29So the threat of some cloud and rain across the southeast
01:31from that.
01:32And with the northerly flow, always a lot of cloud
01:35coming in down this eastern side of England,
01:38some sunny spells for the west, some chance
01:41of one or two afternoon showers for Wales
01:43and southwest England.
01:44But again, much of Scotland, Northern Ireland
01:46will be dry and bright with some sunshine and temperatures
01:49climbing into the 20s here, where
01:51it's cloudier with that breeze again off the North Sea.
01:54Quite a cool feel across a large part of eastern England,
01:57particularly if we still have some showery rain
02:00across East Anglia and the southeast.
02:02By the time we get to Thursday, the high pressure
02:04is definitely the dominant feature.
02:06Not many isobars across the charts.
02:07The winds are going to be light.
02:09There's not going to be much around to shift the clouds.
02:11It could be quite a grey day in some places,
02:14particularly again down the eastern side.
02:16And there will, again, just be one or two showers
02:19or really light spits of rain here and there
02:21across parts of the east and maybe the odd shower
02:23elsewhere.
02:24But for much of the UK, it should
02:26be a dry and a fine day on Thursday.
02:29And again, with some sunshine after a cool start,
02:31temperatures likely to climb up into the 20s.
02:34But where it stays grey and with the breeze off the sea,
02:37it will be pretty chilly once more in parts of the east.
02:41It's a similar story as we head into Friday.
02:43Notice there are weak weather fronts that are just
02:46showing their hand out in the Atlantic.
02:48But there's also this feature out in the North Sea.
02:51Some uncertainty about the timing of that.
02:54So a bit of a squeeze going on across the UK.
02:56Again, many places will probably be dry and fine.
02:59But if this weather system is a little further west,
03:02we could see some showery rain across the east.
03:04And as that weather system starts
03:06to push in from the Atlantic, well, late in the day,
03:09there could be some rain into the southwest.
03:11One or two showers, again, possible.
03:12But for much of the UK, at this stage,
03:15Friday also looks dry and fine with temperatures
03:17climbing into the low or even mid-20s,
03:20where we see some sunny skies.
03:23As we head towards the weekend, there's
03:24still that low in the North Sea.
03:25But it looks as if the one out in the Atlantic
03:28will start to make further inroads across the UK.
03:31These weather fronts around bringing more cloud
03:33and a greater chance of some showers
03:35as we go into the weekend, some of which could be heavy.
03:38Doesn't look like it'll rain all weekend.
03:39There will still be some dry and bright spells.
03:42But certainly cloudier as we go towards Saturday and Sunday.
03:46Details day to day could vary.
03:48So make sure you stay up to date with the latest
03:50from the Met Office.
