00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Low pressure still very much in charge of our weather as we head through the second
00:07half of this week. Situated out to the northwest of the UK, it's slowly bringing frontal systems
00:11across the UK as we head towards the second half of this week, meaning some showery conditions
00:16continue. A ridge of high pressure then develops through Friday and Saturday, but it doesn't
00:20last long, with low pressure awaiting in the wings to bring further wet and windy weather
00:24through the second half of the weekend.
00:27Back to the here and now though, and those showery conditions that we've seen overnight
00:30will continue through much of today. Pushing in from the west are those heaviest showers,
00:34always confined to western coasts and southern coasts as well, where we could see some heavy
00:38downpours and perhaps hear the odd rumble of thunder through this afternoon.
00:41Parts of Scotland, northern England and south-east England always stay in the driest though,
00:45plenty of sunny spells here through this afternoon, but perhaps not feeling too warm in that sunshine
00:49with blustery winds, and temperatures generally around average for the time of year, so 10
00:53to 12 degrees across the south, and generally in the high single figures across the northern
00:57half of the UK.
01:00Through Thursday evening, particularly for the southern half of the UK, those showery
01:03conditions likely to continue into the start of Friday morning, slowly pushing their way
01:08eastwards through the early hours, and again they could be heavy at times and we could
01:11hear the odd rumble of thunder overnight. But for the northern half of the UK, generally
01:15those showers starting to ease with plenty of dry and clear weather around, so those
01:19clear skies and with light winds that could mean those temperatures drop out down to the
01:22single figures, perhaps even just below zero across parts of Scotland with a touch of frost
01:27to start on Friday. Holding up a little bit milder though across the south with temperatures
01:31around 6 or 7 degrees.
01:33So a cloudy and damp start for many across the southern half of the UK on Friday morning.
01:38Those showers will slowly clear their way eastwards through the morning, leaving a nice
01:42dry day for most of us, plenty of sunshine around, still a few showers across parts of
01:46northern Ireland and into western Scotland, but many of us seeing a much drier day, and
01:50with lighter winds perhaps feeling a little bit more pleasant in that sunshine too. Temperatures
01:54around 11 to 13 degrees across the south, but still holding up into those high single
01:58figures across parts of Scotland.
02:02Showers will gradually start to ease overnight, so leaving a chilly start to the weekend,
