00:22More than 300 delegates came together
00:25for the 59th Conference of Directors-General of Civil Aviation, or DGCA,
00:32from the Asia and Pacific region.
00:36Their goal is to exchange knowledge in the aviation industry.
00:40This includes the discourse on the effects of climate change on air transport.
00:45Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista attended the conference.
00:49He emphasized the importance of helping leaders in the aviation industry.
00:55We have made a lot of investments in the aviation sector, especially in airports.
01:02We have completed since June 2022.
01:07More than 50 airports have been improved.
01:13Of course, safety is always a major topic for discussion.
01:20We will look at sustainability, what are the practices that will allow us to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions.
01:32According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, or CAAP,
01:36they are now pushing for sustainability, resilience, and inclusivity
01:41so that programs focused on environmental, operational, and social priorities can be achieved.
01:49Our simple tree planting, we started a month ago.
01:54How many trees did we plant? Over 14,000, something, close to 15,000.
02:00And this will go on for so many years.
02:04Because we are not rich.
02:07We don't have, right now, we don't have sustainable aviation fuel.
02:13What do we need? Trees.
02:16Coconut is one.
02:18Other countries have palm oil, palm trees.
02:21We don't have any.
02:22So we have to make use of what we have.
02:25So what we need to plant is the trees that we will get from the South.
02:32This is the fourth time that the Philippines has hosted the Directors General of Civil Aviation.
02:39This will show the dedication of the Philippines to improve the aviation industry
02:44together with the solidarity of the country's neighbors.
