00:00The biggest Commandag Exercises 2024 of the Philippine Marine Corps has now begun
00:07with the allies of the country.
00:09The aim of the exercise is to address the disaster response
00:13and maintenance of regional security in the Indo-Pacific region.
00:17Patrick de Jesus is returning.
00:19I hereby declare the Commandag 08-24 open effective this day.
00:49I hereby declare the Commandag 08-24 open effective this day.
01:12The aim of the exercise is to address the disaster response
01:17and maintenance of regional security in the Indo-Pacific region.
01:22The exercises will be held in Palawan, Central Luzon,
01:26and in Ilocos Norte and Batanes in the north of Luzon
01:30where live fire drills will be held.
01:33Recently, the People's Liberation Army of China conducted military drills
01:39around Taiwan.
01:41In the midst of this, the Commandag exercises had nothing to do
01:45with geopolitical situations and not showing force.
01:50This exercise basically focuses on our main objective
01:56which is to foster good relations, to enhance interoperability,
02:06and of course to strengthen our ties with our partner nations.
02:13And so this exercise, regardless of what's going on geopolitically,
02:17is going to happen.
02:18And it's to benefit really the Philippine Marine Corps,
02:22our partners and allies in the region,
02:24to come together to get better,
02:27to respond to anything such as the humanitarian crisis.
02:31Even so, one of the scenarios is to evacuate,
02:35like the Filipinos in Taiwan, if necessary.
02:39Any crisis occurring in Taiwan would involve our concern
02:46to our OFWs in Taiwan.
02:51And I think it's more of a preparing our forces
02:58whenever there will be repatriation of our OFWs.
03:03We are not exercising to join the fight,
03:10if there will be any fight in that part of the...
03:13In the expansion of more countries,
03:15which will show the established interoperability in the Commandag exercises
03:20and other exercises that continue to be improved,
03:24aside from the Philippine Marines,
03:26some members of the Philippine Coast Guard and PNP will also join.
03:31Patrick de Asus for Pambansang TV in Pagong, Philippines.
