00:00In their determination and form, we can see their determination and love for themselves.
00:07Their stories not only give inspiration but also show the true meaning of being true to yourself.
00:14You're right Joshua, because pageantry is a big help to share their experiences, successes and challenges in life.
00:23So live here in Rise and Shine Philippines, please all welcome some of the members of Tomboy Philippines in 2024.
00:32Welcome, welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:35We have here with us Sir Cowie, Kim, Abana, JC Jelly and Phau.
00:40Phau or Pow?
00:41Phau.
00:42Phau with H.
00:43Phau with an F.
00:45Phau.
00:46Alright Sir Cowie, what is Tomboy Philippines and what is your main advocacy?
00:51I believe this is the first or the inaugural year of the pageant, can you tell us more about this?
00:56Yes, thank you so much for inviting us.
00:59Our advocacy as the organizer of this pageant is of course for the kids to showcase their talent and for them to live a life in purpose.
01:11Because they are required to show their advocacy to each other because we all have different personalities.
01:20So this is the platform that will show in public or in general that just like our jingle,
01:28there is a misconception when it comes to tomboy that they are wearing a miyok.
01:32And not all of them are bald.
01:37But maybe some of you are wearing a bald head.
01:40Yes, bald head boys.
01:42It will look good there.
01:44That's why we said let's not stop there because our advocacy in society is big.
01:49For Kim, we heard that you grew up in a family that is part of the LGBTQ plus community.
01:57For you, in your perspective, how important is it to have a family that supports and listens to your personality?
02:06For me, it's very important to have a family that listens and supports.
02:15Because you are not accepted by others, what's important is that your family accepts you.
02:26Because of that, that's the reason why you fight in life to become a successful person.
02:37It's really different when your family supports you.
02:39Yes, and I think it's not all that grow up in a welcoming family.
02:45So it's a good thing for Kim.
02:47And for Bana, I heard that you are a travel consultant.
02:50And your dream is to have a restaurant.
02:52Why? Do you have an inspiration for being a travel consultant and having your own restaurant?
03:01It has always been my dream since I was young to have my own restaurant.
03:06I think for three reasons.
03:08First, because I came from a poor family.
03:11So we reached a point where we don't have food.
03:14So I have to make sure that when I grow up, there's always food on the table.
03:19And then the second reason is, I think this is being done in the other country as well.
03:25The customers can pay in advance for the meal of the others.
03:29For those who want to eat, but they don't have money to buy food.
03:36And then lastly, I wanted to create a work environment where there's no discrimination.
03:46So regardless of your gender preference, you are welcome to apply.
03:51As long as you can trust that you can do the job.
03:56That's a good idea.
03:59This is for JC.
04:00JC, we heard that you are a jail officer in BJMP.
04:03Yes.
04:04How's your three years experience? Tell us about it.
04:07In my three years in the service, I can say that being a jail officer is difficult.
04:14Secondly, it's challenging.
04:16And then thirdly, it's fulfilling.
04:18It's difficult because before we are called full-fledged jail officers,
04:22we need to undergo five months of rigid training.
04:26It's mandatory training.
04:28And then, of course, from morning to evening, it's physical conditioning.
04:34And before, when I was out as a jail officer, I weighed 72 kilograms.
04:42And when I finished my jail basic recruit course, I weighed 54 kilograms.
04:48So it's not really physical training.
04:49Yes.
04:50I've been meaning to ask this.
04:52Because personally, I also struggled with this.
04:55What do you guys prefer?
04:57When you are called ma'am, do you still get offended?
05:02Or do you prefer sir?
05:03No.
05:04What do you prefer?
05:05I'm not offended when I'm called ma'am or sir.
05:08Ah, okay.
05:09And if we can remember, there was an issue on how to address it.
05:14So at least we heard it from them.
05:17Yes.
05:18All right.
05:19Jilly, tell us, because I heard you are a senior recruiting coordinator
05:24to a member of an educational organization.
05:27At the same time, you're a candidate here in Tomboy Philippines.
05:30How do you balance that?
05:32Yes.
05:33Actually, I just came from work.
05:36Maybe the reason or what I do is my commitment to work and pageant.
05:44And of course, the support I receive from my family, the Pablo family,
05:50and of course, my leaders and workmates,
05:54especially my boss who is very understanding of what's happening now.
06:03If I need to go to an event, he supports me.
06:10That's good.
06:11Let's go to the business owner, Fau.
06:14Fau, what was your inspiration for your business?
06:16And can you tell us more about it?
06:18My business is all about using tomboys, chest binders.
06:23Ah, okay.
06:24Yes.
06:25And my inspiration for this is my family.
06:27I used to be a breadwinner, but I forgot about my family because of a woman.
06:34Because as a tomboy, it's very hard for us to find a real lover.
06:38So when I got a girlfriend, I devoted my love to her.
06:43I even got an apartment with my partner.
06:46But when she left me,
06:48Oh, that's a lot.
06:49Sorry, sorry.
06:50It just flowed.
06:51That's what they said.
06:52Yes.
06:53It just flowed.
06:54Yes.
06:55When she left me, I went back to our house.
06:58We were supposed to have dinner.
07:00But my mom and dad were fighting because we didn't have food.
07:04Because I forgot how to use a stand.
07:07So for me, that feeling was very heavy.
07:10I went home to the apartment that I was living in.
07:12I just cried.
07:13Then I said, I'll wake up one day.
07:15And now, I'm proud to say that I was able to build a house for my family.
07:19In a car, and they traveled to other places.
07:21Wow, congratulations.
07:23You did a good job.
07:24You inspired the story.
07:25As long as you love one person.
07:26Yes, that's them.
07:27It just flowed.
07:28Alright, Sir Cowie, what should we expect?
07:30Please invite everyone to the upcoming Philippines 2024.
07:35Yes, thank you.
07:37On October 5, we will have our preliminary for them to showcase their talent and swimwear.
07:43It will be held at 690 Entertainment Bar.
07:46Thank you to Sir Wilbert Tolentino for helping us to complete this pageant.
07:56And then on October 19, we will have our coronation night on Music Museum.
08:03October 19, 2024.
08:05Saturday, 6pm.
08:07Watch it because it's very beautiful.
08:09Aside from them, we have performers.
08:13We have Keikal, Bootsy, and many more.
08:17Yes, dancers.
08:18And the show is very beautiful because we prepared it.
08:22How many candidates are there in total?
08:24In total, there are 30 candidates.
08:26Oh, that's a lot.
08:27And then, will there be a winner?
08:29Will there be a battle?
08:30Or what are the after plans?
08:35We're receiving positive feedback.
08:37But again, this is the first time.
08:39Yes, so we have a lot to look forward to.
08:41Alright, good luck everyone.
08:43And thank you so much for visiting once again.
08:45The candidates of Tomboy Philippines 2024.
