00:00He's caught! Touchdown! The New England Patriots select Drake May. He's got the ball! And that's
00:11the ball game!
00:14Okay, sometimes they change the way things happen when you're recording, and that just
00:18happened right there. Didn't see that one coming. Mike Giardi, Will Parkinson alongside
00:22the All-32 pod, Week 7 in full effect. Will fired up for it. A reminder to everybody,
00:28this show brought to you by PrizePix, the exclusive daily fantasy partner of CLNS Media
00:32Network. In game time, best tickets, best prices to get you into any event that you
00:37want to go. We use them all. We love them all. You should too. Let's jump right into
00:41this because, Will, we got a Super Bowl rematch. We have the Chiefs, who are undefeated, coming
00:46off a bye, and the 49ers. I mean, I don't know how you're not fired up for this game.
00:52Is there two good teams, even if maybe it hasn't, we haven't seen their best just yet.
00:56Yeah, both teams have kind of... San Francisco has lost some of the games that Kansas City
01:01probably should have lost, but they didn't. Both teams are pretty much what we thought.
01:06Both defenses are really good. Both quarterbacks are really good, obviously. Mahomes is on
01:10a different level, although he has not played great ball by any means. Chiefs got a lot
01:15of injuries. The Niners got a lot of injuries. But both these teams, you probably expect
01:19still at this point, if you told me this was the Super Bowl, I wouldn't be shocked. So,
01:25I'm excited for this matchup. I want to see where San Francisco's at. I think Kansas City's
01:29built themselves a little bit of a buffer. Everyone else in the AFC, even the really
01:32good teams, have lost games they probably shouldn't have. Kansas City's won all the
01:36games they should have, and probably some of the ones they shouldn't have. If they lost
01:40this game non-conference, it doesn't fully affect them too much. San Francisco obviously
01:45can go on the road in the playoffs. We've seen them do it. But you don't want to start
01:49falling further and further behind where you're now like, hey, we're going to win this division,
01:53probably still, but we're like the 4-seed or the 3-seed, or the NFC. God knows if that
02:00division will get to 8 wins. Do the Niners want to be the 3-seed playing the 6-seed Packers?
02:06Probably not. They'd probably much rather get to the 2. And can they handle the bad
02:13Cowboys team or something like that? This matters more to me for San Francisco, obviously
02:18also coming off the loss last year. They've really struggled. They've built these leads
02:24and it just starts to kind of crumble. Even last week, our friend Kyle Brandt was tweeting,
02:29he was like, I could not trust them to finish this game at any less. And again, they figured
02:32it out. But yeah, Kansas City, does it really matter what we see from them right now? My
02:39home says 6 touchdowns, 6 picks, and no one cares. That's where it's hard for me to like,
02:45for 500 yards and 5 touchdowns this week, Mike would go, wow, that was really awesome.
02:49And if he doesn't and he plays terribly, it would be like, they're probably still my pick
02:53for the AFC until proven otherwise. Yeah. Interesting. You mentioned the Mahomes thing,
02:58right? This is the fewest passing yards that he has averaged through six games since he's
03:05become the starter in 2018. They're running the ball for more yards than they've ever
03:09run with him as the quarterback. And this is sort of the morphing of the offense,
03:14especially with some of the bodies and obviously losing Rasheed Rice. Hollywood Brown was supposed
03:17to be a big part of this. They never got any of Hollywood Brown this year. The shoulder injury,
03:22Rice likely done for the year, be surprising if he's not. And the other thing is they're
03:27getting to the red zone, 18 red zone trips, just seven touchdowns. That is a 29th in the league.
03:34And that's one of those things where Kelsey doesn't have a touchdown. You just feel like
03:38that'll eventually change. He'll eventually develop some trust with some of these other guys.
03:42The Juju Smith Schuster, you know, come back from the dead, um, had a seven catch a hundred,
03:48I think, 130 yard game two weeks ago. Like they just find ways to get it done. And I'm
03:54curious to see how they're getting everyone. Like no one believed in me. It's like, dude,
03:58yeah, I love you, buddy. But like no one believes in your niece because yeah,
04:02yeah. I mean, look, we saw it up close and personal. I reported it before they even signed
04:06him. In fact, one of the reasons why Kansas city didn't really make a real effort to sign him two
04:10years ago when he was headed to free agency was because they knew what the knee was, but desperate
04:15times call for desperate measures. He knows the system. He comes in there and look, no,
04:20one's paying attention to him. Like that's he's, he's so far down the list of people that teams
04:25are worried about that he had a big game. So we'll see if he can sort of maintain that level.
04:29I highly doubt it, but again, they don't have a lot of pass catchers that my home's trust at
04:33this point. I'm also, you mentioned the 49ers aspect of this thing. Their offense has been
04:39different this year and it's, it's part of the growth of party, right? Where pushing the ball
04:44down the field more, he averages twice, uh, two times as many downfield passes, which is 10 or
04:51more air yards than my homes does, which again, you would, you go into the year and yeah, they
04:55have some weapons and they can do some things schematically, but you would never say Brock
04:58party's going to be thrown two times as many of those throws that my homes is, but that just goes
05:03to show you the, the, the trust that Shannon has in him. Um, and look, it's not always perfect.
05:09Occasionally, I know he's been accused at times by the San Francisco media of trying to play
05:13hero ball, but I think he's playing pretty well. Um, and if, you know, he's, he's not in that
05:19my homes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson conversation, but is he in the next year of quarterbacks?
05:25And I, and I always put it, Roger's sort of in his own sort of category here at 40 and,
05:29and, you know, he can still throw the ball as well as anybody, but he's he, to me, he's like
05:34in that conversation of someone that I trust. And I think they trust them. And I think it's,
05:38it's sort of borne out over how they've approached this, but to your larger point,
05:43it's a big game for San Fran. Don't be, don't be three and four. You know, they've, they've cost
05:48themselves some, some spots already this year and had some wins. And don't, you don't want to do
05:53that again. Let's move on to, uh, a team that's kept you awfully busy. We, you were on assignment
05:58on Monday, uh, which is to say you were in the stands for jet bills. I mean, we texted a little
06:07bit briefly afterwards. That was a, a disappointing loss, a bad loss. And then immediately the jets
06:12turn around and they trade for Devante Adams. So I guess I want to start there because we've
06:18had this conversation dating back to the summer. And then even more recently, when it's when I
06:23said, you know, it feels like they're not able to unlock parts of the field with Rogers because of
06:28some of the receivers in your mind is Devante Adams, his insertion in the lineup. And let's
06:34just assume he's the guy he was the start of this year in Vegas before the injuries. Is he that guy
06:39that's capable of doing that for this offense? Yeah. So a couple of different things, this trade
06:43by all reports, uh, I got home at, I don't know, two 30 from MetLife. We know, you know, the drive,
06:49I got a bunch of texts. He's on his way here. Um, be ready to pod in the morning. And I'm like,
06:53Oh, okay. That's nice. Um, apparently the deal was done before the game even started.
06:58He was already on his way, you know, to, uh, to Jersey slash New York. This has obviously
07:03been in the mix. The jets apparently offer two second round picks for him a year ago. At this
07:07time, the Raiders hung up the phone idiotic. Then it's even more idiotic. Now looking at the value
07:12they got, they paid Devante like 30 million in cash and got a conditional pick that the jets
07:17have to reach the title game. And Devante has to be an all pro he's missed three weeks. He's not
07:21going to be an all pro this year, unless he goes on some crazy run here. So the Raiders, I thought
07:26mishandled this totally. Um, and Devante had like, he clearly had a horrible time in Vegas. I mean,
07:32every, some of the commentary from Kay Adam show and his, his weekly presser with the jets now
07:38last week, it was like, they didn't throw me the ball. And when they did throw me the ball,
07:41they were trying to get me killed. You know, they're not a bad organization, but like,
07:46I clearly don't like the coach and hated the quarterbacks and hated the schemes.
07:50Again, it's a little, I'm not going to give him a total pass. He forced his way
07:55out in a sense, and the Packers weren't going to pay him and I don't blame him, but you know,
07:59he did, he got what he wanted. He went to play with Derek Carr. And, um, we got some interesting
08:03info that the chiefs were never involved, uh, which that was a big time rumor. It seemed like
08:07Buffalo, uh, you know, I had heard a week or two ago that a Mark Cooper would be a bill
08:11if there'd be a jet. And it's just a matter of time. We saw both those guys. I think Devante
08:15helps the jets a lot. Like I think the notion that he doesn't help and he's not some huge
08:19difference makers is insane to me. I understand the jets might not be quite as good as maybe I
08:25thought, or maybe you thought, or a lot of people thought we still have to see, you know, they've,
08:29they've lost three games now that they probably should have won. Maybe that'll even out over the
08:32year. You should, when your point differential is still good and no total yards and you know,
08:38all these different things like wouldn't indicate it'll write itself, but he now makes Garrett
08:43Wilson, your number two receiver, Garrett Wilson's on pace for a hundred plus catches,
08:471300 yards and nine touchdowns. Like he's now your second receiver. Bruce calls your third option.
08:52Now, you know, Tyler Compton's like your sixth option, these top 10 catches and yards for tight
08:57ends. Like I just, to me, the trust factor, the ability to open up the field Devante, I think
09:04should play that five to 15 yard, 20 yard window. Uh, maybe it's more than that, obviously on some
09:09of the goal balls, but generally speaking, those, those kind of in breakers and back shoulders and
09:14things, and that Garrett could kind of roam free and you can't just play man. The jets have faced
09:18the second most man coverage in the NFL. Uh, and they're 31st against man coverage. They are now
09:24going to be much, much better against that. Devante is probably the best man coverage beater in the
09:28league. So that's what it may be. Tyreek, I guess. Uh, but yeah, look, man, I just, I think
09:33this trade overall, the compensation makes sense. It seems like it's going to be at least a year and
09:36a half thing. Maybe it's two and a half depending on Rogers, but, um, I don't know about you thought
09:41about the deal, but to me, this was the biggest no brainer. And I just think it's crazy to undersell
09:47like a guy who's an all pro 12 months ago that all of a sudden he's like, who's going to have
09:51the game. That's going to age the best of probably any receiver. Very Jim again, just he's not Jerry
09:57Rice, but Randy Moss was washed when he, when he came over to new England in 2007 and he was,
10:02he was done and he was, you know, six months younger than Devante and went on to have what
10:07two 50, 4,530 touchdowns and like a calendar and a year and a half. Right. So, um, we've seen guys
10:14go to Oakland or Vegas and die before at the receiver position and come back to life with
10:18Hall of Fame quarterbacks. I expect the same with Devante. I thought it was interesting.
10:21It's just watching the press conference with Adams and him talking about, um, you know,
10:27he's like the Jimmy Garoppolo. Well, there's that, which, you know, I, I'm going to hold that against
10:32them because I'm just going to hold that against them. But in terms of the, the communication
10:37with Rogers and obviously they haven't played together since 2021 and Adams, for those who
10:42don't know, is currently staying with Rogers, staying at his house, like this whole thing.
10:46And they're going over there, the intricate hand signals that Rogers wants to have his receivers
10:51known. And Rogers is saying like, he already knows 95% of it before we were reviewing it,
10:56you know, like from the, from his memory, but talking about the on-field chemistry that they
11:00have and Devante said, like a subtle play here or there is the difference between being two and
11:07four and five and one. He's like, you know, and we, and we talked about it a couple of weeks ago,
11:12Lazard, the back shoulder drop in the end zone. Like there are plays that have been there to be
11:17made that just receivers haven't made. Uh, even as recently as this past game with Mike Williams
11:24and Rogers called them out for it on the last play, the interception not running the route
11:29properly. And you would assume that if Adams is healthy, he's going to pick that up quickly
11:35and they'll be able to get, if not exactly where they were in 2021, they'll be able to get somewhere
11:41close to that and fairly quickly. And can that make a difference for them? I think it can make
11:46a difference for them. The one thing you mentioned that right point, if they get back to even close
11:51to that and who knows, you know, maybe both guys are five to 10% worse. You know, maybe Adams is
11:565%, Rogers is 10% worse, which is fine because Devonte had like a top 20 receivers that season
12:02ever. And Rogers had one of the five best quarterback stats he's ever like, it's okay.
12:06If they're a little bit worse, Devonte has never played in an offense with this much talent. And
12:10I don't think that's hyperbole to say that we're not talking the 2010 Packers. I mean, the Packers
12:16always, at least for me, the last six, seven years were a bunch of, you know, Aaron Jones and somebody
12:24it was Robert Toney in, it was Mercedes Lewis in his late fifties. And now he's six, you know,
12:29and it was Devonte getting 220 targets a year. And then somebody else kind of being, having to
12:36be the second guy, like, is he played with next to a guy like Garrett Wilson? I don't, I don't,
12:40unless I'm missing someone, I don't maybe late, late, late on James Jones, uh, maybe, but I don't
12:46know. And James Jones and then went to the Raiders too. Like it, it just feels like there's so much
12:50talent that they should be able to Todd Downing, by the way, and we'll get to the, this game,
12:55Todd Downing was so much better than Nate Hackett has been at all in his jet's tenure.
13:01Good. What, tell me, well, that was the next thing on my list. What, why was,
13:05why was Downing better than anything that Hackett provided?
13:07So we talked about Garrett Wilson, Garrett, Garrett Wilson's route tree
13:12Monday night reflected a guy who we all thought was going to be a 1,510 touchdown guy,
13:17deep crossers, deep in some, some run action that got him freed up, getting him in the bat.
13:23He was in the backfield, a little CD land Mish, um, I think what do you have eight for,
13:27for a hundred plus. And, you know, obviously the touchdown, that was beautiful. Not sure how the
13:30ref, I mean, the refs were on Monday night where the worst, it was the worst referee gave you both
13:34sides. I mean, I definitely think it was, it was hideous, um, Downing you 72% plus motion. Uh,
13:41the jets had been using 47%. I mean, that is starkly different. They had some misdirection,
13:45got Breeze outside, got Breeze kind of going in the run game. Uh, it was his most productive game
13:50of the year. So they mix up some personnel packages. They just did a lot better stuff
13:54between the 20 specifically in the red zone. Um, like they went one for four. It's the reason they
13:59lost the football game, but Breeze Hall makes one guy miss. They win that game. Um, Tyron Smith gets
14:06called, doesn't get called for a hold five yards after five, five minutes after the play was over
14:10on a really innovative, cool, Braylon Allen was lined up as an IBAC and took a fullback handoff
14:16into the end zone. I thought that was a really innovative play call. We just didn't see that
14:18from the jets. So the mixture of Downing Rogers, look, you know, he's, he's really banged up right
14:23now. I mean, I don't think people, no one, no one cares cause everyone hates Rogers, but
14:27he's playing through an ankle sprain. I don't, he got, you know, he's been taking some big shots.
14:34Um, it's weird. He doesn't get hit a lot, but when he gets hit, it seems like he's getting
14:37demolished. He did a very good job of a Brady, uh, you know, on, uh, on Monday night,
14:42one sack, he saw a comment and was just like, no, I'm going to get down. Yeah. Good,
14:45good job, dude. That's live to play another play, but yeah, no, the offense has looked better.
14:50The jets run defense is putrid. It's still a problem. They fixed it momentarily. And now
14:54guys have gotten hurt again and they have not fixed it. So, um, that's a big matchup in this
14:58game. Uh, but I, I don't know about you, Mike, this game comes down to me of the jets making
15:04kicks because it's cost them two football games now. And it's the Steelers. Can TJ watt ruin the
15:10game? Because if he does, they'll go out of there with a win. Otherwise I starting Russell Wilson.
15:16I don't think the Steelers talent wise are that good. They're very 2022 jets,
15:20like scrappy, really good defense. And they're well coached on the defensive side of the ball.
15:24And that quarterback isn't turning the football over. I just, I don't get the rusting. I really
15:29don't. Um, I know fields isn't that good, but at least like there's some hope there and the jets
15:34can't defend running quarterbacks rust to me. What's the upside. I don't, I don't, I, am I
15:39missing something here? Like, I don't get it. Yeah. The only thing I could think of with Russ
15:43is well, twofold one, obviously he is a better passer than fields, even though, you know, the
15:50last couple of years he's, he's not the pastor that he, he once was. In fact, he's not even close
15:54to that. And then maybe they're thinking we just don't have an ability to bust a big play in the
16:02passing game, because that's not who fields is. If he's going to bust the big play, it's usually
16:06because he's going to have to either run around and scramble and make a play or run around and
16:09tuck it himself and keep it. And maybe they're thinking, okay, maybe he unlocks Pickens.
16:15Who doesn't have a touchdown this year. Maybe that's the, you know, maybe it's Austin. Maybe
16:20they just feel like there's more plays to be made out there that fields wasn't making fields. It's
16:25pretty hard on himself, by the way, we're recording this on Thursday afternoon. And he was like,
16:29wouldn't be a question. If I, if I played better, like he owned it, he's like, and I think he's a
16:35lot of people think he's played. He certainly played better than he did. He watched Zach Wilson
16:38is on draft class and said, I am not getting myself in hot water like that. Yeah. It's funny.
16:43Like he's definitely played better than what we saw in Chicago. There's been some maturity there
16:50as a, as a passer, but he still is lacking as a passer. So even if he's made improvements and
16:57gone forward in that direction, he's still not forward enough that you say, oh yes, let's build
17:01everything around this guy, which is what obviously Chicago was trying to do when they
17:05drafted him in the top 10. So I'm wondering if Wilson, they feel like that unlocked some things
17:10for them offensively. And then the other part of this is okay. Not that the jets won't prepare for,
17:16for fields. They have to, and that's, they've got six games of tape of fields playing quarterback,
17:22but let's just say it's going okay, but not great. And the jet struggled defending running
17:28quarterbacks. And all of a sudden in the second quarter, oh, look, who's under center for,
17:32and maybe it's for a series that maybe Tomlin's looking at like that to both of these guys.
17:36Like now that one of you is good enough to be the full-time guy. And if I have to try to cobble
17:40this together in some way that is a little unorthodox, then I'll do that. And maybe that
17:45causes problems and either foreign too. So you're, you're already in a nice little place.
17:50If you're the Steelers start thinking, can I steal a win here? Can I get a win there? And
17:54all of a sudden you've got another Mike Tomlin nine and eight season, and maybe here in the post
17:58season, which as you mentioned with the, with the offense built the way it is, it's probably,
18:05that's probably an overachievement for them, but that's how, that's how they operate. But
18:10so I feel like we talk about this every week. Who's the more desperate team.
18:15Well, the damn well better be the damn well better be the jets.
18:18Because it better be. And also the underrated thing here. One other trade tidbit, Mike Williams
18:25while he's not been treated yet. I would be shocked if he's not treated by the weekend,
18:29second straight day, DNP quote unquote, personal reasons, but was in the injury area.
18:35Obviously we know this is the, the means to an end look decent first couple of weeks and some
18:42go balls and back shoulders. It's looked horrible the last two weeks. And arguably it's been the
18:47jets worst player in the field and the most crucial moment. So the only other thing I want to
18:52kind of mention on the injury front, which do impact this game and Rogers with a full practice
18:56today, Michael Carter's likely going to miss DJ Reed likely going to miss as well. Everybody else
19:00on the jet side of things should be fine. Zach Frazier, Nick Herbig,
19:05Cam Hayward, Cam Hayward's arrest day. But other than that, like,
19:10they got a lot of offensive line problems, Pittsburgh, and this might be the Quinn and
19:14Williams. I I'm still an awesome player game. I think the jets win this game. I don't think
19:20it's a beautiful football game to watch as an observer. I don't think the Steelers are a bad
19:24team. I think they could still maybe sneak in as a seven seed, but this isn't must win for them
19:30for the jets between this and the new England next week, they get back to four and four. We're
19:35having a much different conversation about this football team. And if we're not heaven help you.
19:40Yeah, I, you will, you won't be able to find me on this podcast because yeah, we're not going to go
19:46there, but I don't know if that joke's kosher. So I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to eat it,
19:49but it was Nick, right. We'll be quite happy on Fox sports. He's, he's, he's doubling down again
19:56today. I ratioed, I ratioed them into oblivion and now he's doubling down that they won't have
20:00an immediate connection. It is, I respect it, man. I respect the Rogers goggles, uh, from the
20:07Mount Rushmore of Rogers haters. It is, it's special stuff. It is pretty impressive. Um,
20:13you know, it's not impressive the next game on our slate that's Patriots Jaguars in London, uh,
20:20Patriots Jags are already there. They've been there since last week where they lost to the
20:24bears and lost handily, uh, to Caleb Williams and company, uh, Patriots flying out on Thursday
20:29evening, uh, for London they'll practice there on Friday. And then of course the game will,
20:34for us will be early Sunday morning, nine 30 kickoff. Um, both teams are bad football teams.
20:40They're probably the two worst teams in the league now. Yeah, both one and five. Um,
20:44there's already been some talk this week from some of the local radio, like, Hey, is it better to lose
20:49this game? Because you want to have the best possible draft pick. Uh, I would say you have
20:54so many holes in so many different places that if you end up finishing third overall, uh, you can
21:00still find a player who can make your roster a lot better than it's been. This is for either team,
21:06but I guess I'll, I'll start. It's Drake made a second start. He popped up on the injury report.
21:11So it took exactly one week for the Patriots offensive line to, um, compromise the, the
21:16rookie quarterback. And one of the reasons why people were reluctant, at least certain sections
21:22of the population of the fan base didn't want to plan because they didn't want to be protected.
21:26I think the more I kind of got into the season, the more I was like, well, actually his mobility
21:30will probably help the offensive line than hurt it. And quite frankly, you're going to get hit in
21:34the league. Cause that's what the league is. And you can either chill, either survive it or you
21:39don't. And if you don't, that's just, that's how it goes. Right. Um, he did though. And some of his
21:47yardage and some of his bigger plays in the second half, you kind of call it garbage time,
21:51right? The Texans were playing with their food. They were up handily control the game for the
21:55most part, had the breakdown right before the half, get the long touchdown pass to booty.
21:59And then, you know, immediately turned May over to start the third quarter.
22:04But you sort of talk to the Patriots players this week and offense coordinator, Alex van Pelt. And
22:09it's like, clearly what may does is what we were just talking about with the jets and Devante
22:15Jacoby couldn't put the ball in places that Drake can do. He can't do the things athletically that
22:19Drake can do. So while maybe he's seen more, obviously he has seen more NFL football started
22:24a lot more games. There was a limitation to what van Pelt could do particularly behind that
22:29offensive line. And I said to him straight up today, I asked van Pelt, does he unlock things
22:33for you in the playbook that you, you had to put away? And he said, a hundred percent he's,
22:37he's mobile. He can run around and he obviously has the arm to make some of these throws. We saw
22:42there was a sidearm throw to pop Douglas in the right flat where he went through his progressions.
22:46He was off platform and he just, you know, again, it's not Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes with his
22:51arm strength. I want people to get carried away with that. But like he made a throw that a Patriots
22:56quarterback hasn't been able to make since Tom Brady was here by comparing May to Brady, just
23:00saying Brady never got credit for how strong his arm was. He could make some throws like that.
23:05May makes that throw that continues your, your drive right before the half and score the touchdown
23:10on the beautiful bomb to booty. So if he's, if he's at all limited by the knee injury,
23:15which it didn't appear, wasn't wearing a brace at practice on Thursday and was a full participant in
23:20practice both Wednesday and Thursday, if he's not limited, I think we see even a little bit more from,
23:26from van Pelt and some of the things that he wants to do. And I think you'll see them
23:30attack a secondary that is absolutely awful. They're allowing 276 yards passing that is dead
23:38last in the league. Most yards allowed. They play a ton of man Patriots. Pop Douglas went off
23:44six catches, 92 yards. That's the most receiving yards, a Patriots wide receivers had
23:48will since 2022. And it was mostly against man working, working underneath, working in the slot.
23:56You know, took the slant for a touchdown. It was a slant earlier in the game that
23:59may through behind him that, that pop made a nice catch on for 17. But same thing. If he,
24:04if he did as he did later in the game and put it right on him,
24:07pop probably scores on that one as well. No Patriots scored on that drive anyway. So it's,
24:10you know, you're not taking points off the board there, but for the point of like,
24:14he seems to, uh, and the numbers back it up, next gen stats, whatever, wherever you want to go.
24:19True media, pop excels against man coverage. Jacksonville plays man coverage. It's a hint
24:25for my prize picks. It's coming up, but I expect him to have a big day. And I expect some of the
24:29other receivers who who've scuffled a little bit to be a little bit more involved against the
24:33secondary. And look, I'm both teams need the wind desperately. I think if the Jags don't get the
24:39wind, Doug Peterson's not coming home on the team plane, I would, I would imagine he'd be fired
24:44because there'd be one in six. Um, after, you know, the owner said, this is the best team that
24:48we've had since I've been the owner here. Um, so I don't, I don't know how it plays out. I'm not,
24:54I'm not good at making predictions, but I think the Patriots have to me the feeling of a little
25:00bit of life, even though they're one in five and have lost five in a row where Jacksonville is one
25:05in five, one a couple of weeks ago, but then it got absolutely smacked by Chicago and just feels
25:10like a dead team walking. Yeah. They, this feels like Doug Peterson's last game as the Jaguars
25:14coach. Um, you're not going to fire the guy while you're in London. And I know Bill Simmons made the
25:20whole joke of, uh, they'll get, they'll get Doug 33 C on the way home and coach in the middle seat.
25:25Um, which was a rare, uh, rare, good one from him and cousin Sal, but listen, I, I'm going to be
25:31extremely optimistic about the Patriots here, which I, it might be crazy to me. They're going
25:36to win two of their next three games. And I know people, maybe it's blowing smoke and whatever.
25:42Tennessee's horrible. And we said they were going to be horrible. They're even worse than
25:46I think we all kind of thought the defense has gotten worse every week. I think they start to,
25:50you start to just, it's hard to play the same energy every week, knowing your quarterback is,
25:56is going to let you down. The Calvin Ridley, what do you have? Eight, eight targets,
25:59no catchers. I'm not sure. I think that's just as bad as it gets. Jacksonville is horrible.
26:05Um, I think everyone on their team has played badly, literally like no one's played well.
26:10And then on top of that, you know, I know they're at home a second week and then London and
26:14everything like that. But a lot of guys talking about quitting the culture, they're a team that's,
26:20you know, look, I, if they start to, if New England gets out and Jacksonville gets out to
26:24the lead early on, maybe they play differently, but this feels like a team that like the Patriots
26:28go up 10, nothing. They have a good first drive and they get points in the second, the game's over
26:32like that. It's just the reality of it. The Patriots are a mess. I'm not telling you they're
26:36not, I'm not telling you they're a good team by any means, but I feel like with Drake may.
26:40And again, I thought his debut was extremely encouraging, but I also think we're doing a
26:45little too much. I think there is a little bit of like, he had three touchdowns and it's like,
26:49okay, relax a little bit, but I also turned it over three times, but that's kind of what you
26:57want. And at this point with Drake, man, I got, I'd rather see the ball go in the end zone.
27:00I think you want the opposite of the Zach Wilson experience where it's like, oh,
27:03his act didn't have a lot of turnovers, but he had just, you know, his 18 touchdowns through
27:06his first 36 starts. Like I'd much rather Drake may be like, Hey, if we can cut back
27:1110% of the interceptions, he's a, you know, more of the Jordan love, like 25, 28 touchdowns,
27:1617 picks, as opposed to like, I don't know, the Patriots really want to be a guy that's like,
27:21they just had Mac Jones, right? Like I, you know, I don't think that's what they didn't draft Drake
27:24made it be that. So, um, I think the Patriots take care of business this week. And I think
27:29they take care of business against Tennessee. And I think they're like, there are four and
27:3216 or three and six team going against, right. There'll be three and six that there'd be three
27:36and six play in Chicago who I think, you know, people are going to, you know, I just think they
27:40could have make their season a little bit more competitive and maybe they win five games this
27:43year. And it does, that seems crazy at this point to say that, but I don't, this is the part of the
27:47schedule to get fat on. Like I thought, you know, they gave away the Miami game. They gave away
27:51Seattle. Um, is it going to mean anything in two years if they win five games this year? I don't
27:56know if Drake may is your best player in the field on Sunday, like you're feeling pretty damn good
27:59about it. So Jacksonville defense is terrible. Trevor Lawrence and this offense gives you nothing
28:05to like get excited about, frankly. And they're a team that looks like, I'm not trying to beat up
28:10on the Jags here, but like they're about to go into a rebuild and I don't know how, I mean,
28:15they spent more money than they spent. So God, you know, an incredible amount of money this
28:19off season, but you know, whatever that's, well, I'll do that. We'll do that topic when we, you
28:23know, we rebuild the Jags and Madden, uh, you know, on this podcast in three months. But for
28:28right now, if you're a Patriots fan, I think you're excited about this game. This is a game.
28:32Can we get fat in this game? Can we put up 24 points and hold Jacksonville 17, get out of there
28:3624, 17. Hey, we're coming home for the jets. I, you know, when we got the Titans after that, like
28:41let's do one of these two, let's start building a little momentum. Let's grow as a, as a team here.
28:45And again, this is all about Drake May. Like I, I just, I literally, this game you're watching for
28:51one guy and one guy only right now. And, and that guy's pretty exciting to watch football through
28:56his first start. Yeah. I'll just tell you. So in the post game locker room on Sunday,
29:00and it has carried over this week, you talk to some of the offensive players and they're smiling.
29:07You're one in five, you broke 20, you scored 21, which is a season high at 20 in the, uh, in the
29:13loss to Seattle. But it, there is a, there's a glimmer of hope. There is a realization that
29:21I'm actually alive on plays that I wasn't alive on for the first five weeks of the season because
29:25the quarterback had been beaten up and didn't have the arm to get it to us and to threaten
29:30those areas of the field. And like I said, they shelved some of that stuff. And now it's like,
29:33no, no, no, I can stay alive on this play. And as Kendrick Bourne told us on Thursday, you know,
29:39when we get in the scramble drill, he said, you're supposed to kind of stay in the quadrant
29:43that you're supposed to be working in originally. He goes, but with this quarterback, sometimes you
29:47might be able to go in a different place. He goes, not that they coached that, but that this guy is
29:52capable of seeing it and putting the ball reasonably close so that you can make a play on.
29:58And again, that's not something they had this year with Brissett last, whatever, three years
30:03with Mac Jones, Bailey Zappi and that crap fest. Like this is certainly not with Cam Newton. Holy
30:09crap. Like it's been a long time since they had someone that could do that. And actually in some
30:14regards, the ability to move around, they've never had that not as long as I've been covering the
30:18team and Brady was great in the pocket, but I'm talking about the ability to get outside the
30:22pocket and make plays that way. So yeah, it's an interesting one. I like your 24, 17 would be a
30:28great way for them and Drake plays well enough and get you in the end zone. But I think they're
30:33at the point where they take three, six, three, win 10 to nine. You just need to win. Like, I
30:38really think that the, the, the, the culture needs it. You're trying to reestablish a culture. It
30:44needs, you need to remember what that feels like. Cause it's been a long time now since you won a
30:48game and they kind of felt a little bit like happy about winning that first game. Like, Oh, like,
30:53Oh, we're here. And then no, you're not, you've lost five in a row. Like you've got to get back
30:57there and figure out how to do it. Um, that reminds me, we should bring in, uh, our great,
31:02uh, one of our great sponsors, uh, game time. Think about like going to a game, baseball
31:10playoffs, the perfect example is as your Yankees inch closer and closer to a possible world series
31:16than just the vibe. Like it's an awesome feeling to be in the game, the energy you get from the
31:21crowd. I don't know if you've seen some of the shots like Lindor for the Mets, when he hit the
31:25grand slam last week, there was all these different videos from the stands and people put your phone
31:30down for God's sakes, watch the game, but okay. You showed it to us. And it was awesome. Like
31:35there's people like hugging each other, the excitement, the energy of the stadium game time,
31:40they can get you there and they can get you there for the best price possible.
31:43They've got a new feature called game time picks. It makes getting tickets to see your favorite
31:46teams play live, even easier game time picks filters out the fluff to show you only incredible
31:51deals on great seats. So you don't have to waste time searching through thousands and thousands of
31:56tickets. I know you and I both have friends that use this. We've used it to get into games and get
32:02those great seats. Um, you see the seat view before you buy it. So you can see like, Oh, you know,
32:08I've never sat in this section of the stadium. What's it look like? And you click it on. It
32:12shows you. So that's cool. You're like, all right, yeah, I can handle that angle. I like, Oh, that's
32:17a better angle to watch a game that I've ever seen before. Um, so you customize your spot.
32:22You can do what you need to do here, where you want to sit, what you want to pay. And then the
32:27search just narrows it down, presents it to you. You don't have to keep fiddling with this thing
32:31and that thing. It just gets you what you need to do. So all you gotta do is download the game
32:35time app, create an account, use code CLNS for $20 off your first purchase terms apply again,
32:40create the account and redeem the code CLNS for $20 off download game time today. What time is it?
32:48Oh yeah, it is game time. And now we're back to our games. Lions Vikings. This one's a fun one.
32:55Very fun. Lions four and one Vikings five and O Viking coming off the by lions coming off.
33:00I just a stomping of the Cowboys, but Aiden Hutchinson, they're outstanding edge player.
33:08First pick in the draft, second pick in the draft, right? Three years ago, who has really,
33:13he was a good player. His first two years, he has taken the leap and become a great player,
33:17a game changing player. Um, he breaks his leg during the course of the game, late in the game.
33:22Uh, you could hear a pin drop at Cowboys stadium. Uh, they don't have him likely to be done for the
33:29year. Although Dan Campbell left open a little glimmer of hope, but I, I find that one hard to
33:33believe. How do the lions first and foremost, before we even talk about this game in particular,
33:41how do they overcome that loss? Because this is, you talk about the jets being a team that
33:45we built to win. Now the lines are clearly in that same mode built to win now.
33:51Yeah, it was, it was gross. Uh, it was a gross injury, obviously the emergency surgery. It's,
33:55you know, you, you feel horrible for the person, the rehab is going to be
33:59a lot. Um, you know, the, uh, it's like, there's just, you know, it's, it sucks, man. It's,
34:08you know, it's, that's a, that's a tough one. I mean, we see guys get hurt every week.
34:12It's a, it's a physical demanding sport, but when one of your best players goes down like that
34:17and it, you know, I mean kind of like a incidental leg whip from his own teammate, it just,
34:24and it impacts what we're talking about. It impacts wins and losses. It impacts the team
34:27that has real, uh, super bowl dreams now has to sort of recalibrate. How do we,
34:32how do we become the defense that, that he made us be without him?
34:36Yeah. I mean, it just, it's tough because he's such a heartbeat of that team. He's such,
34:42he's kind of like represents so much of what, you know, what Dan Campbell wants to be. And,
34:46um, you know, it's, it sucks. It just, it really sucks. And, you know, is he the one team that
34:53they take on Hassan Redick? You know, I see the Max Crosby stuff. I I'd be really shocked
34:57if that happens, but, um, you know, maybe, uh, you know, never know. But yeah, look, I think
35:04the things that I, I look at with Detroit in this game is this is the, is Minnesota really,
35:09really, really for real game, uh, two weeks to prepare Detroit's Harman right now. Um,
35:15you know, I was coming off just beating the dog bleep out of, you know, out of Dallas and,
35:20um, you know, Minnesota's kind of overcome every obstacle. The San Francisco game was the,
35:25was the check. And then it was, and you know, it's the, there's the Packers game and then
35:29it was the jets game and they've kind of started to progressively look a little bit worse in each
35:32week. They've gotten it done for sure. Uh, but they've kind of started to get a little bit worse.
35:37Um, so I, for me, uh, I'm thinking, um, you know, can this be the,
35:43is this the week that Detroit kind of says, this is our division still, you might be, you know,
35:49you might be undefeated, but you know, not anymore, not on our watch. That's just to me where
35:54I assume in simple terms, like what is this Minnesota team? Cause I think they're a playoff
35:59team, but if you told me they only, they went, I don't know, four and seven, the rest of the year
36:04and, or whatever, four and eight or whatever it is, and they just miss out. And it's like,
36:09it kind of came back to life. I wouldn't be tell you're crazy. And if you told me
36:13they went six and five, the rest of the year, six and six, and they're 11 win team. And they were,
36:17they're the five seed. Like, I wouldn't tell you're crazy either. I think Detroit's the best
36:21team in the conference, but you know, no aid in Hutchinson. This is a big, like if the defense
36:27still looks, they were able to still get a pass rush this week, which we'll see if they can,
36:33does that make them hesitate on making a real move for, you know, a replacement if they get gashed
36:38and it's like, Oh my God, like we cannot win a super bowl without the sky, which they very
36:42mild might not be able to, do they go say, I don't know, Vegas take three first rounders that
36:47we assume that are going to be at the bottom of the, you know, the picks 28, 29, 30 for the next
36:52couple of years, make us like, we're going to make you say no to that for Max Crosby. We're going to
36:58make the jets say no to, we really want to give up a second round pick for us on Reddit to give
37:02them the pick back they're losing. No, but do we think that we can bring in a sound Reddit for a
37:06year while Hutchinson's out and he'll win super bowl for us. I don't know. I'm just, my point
37:11being like, this is a big bleep or get off the pot game for Minnesota, in my opinion, because
37:17you'd be a division loss in momentum would start to kind of carry, you know, not great spot.
37:21And if you're Detroit, it's like, do how big of a move do we need to make? Whereas this is like,
37:26Hey, I don't know. You go, you know, trade for Brennan grant. I mean, like not actually
37:31Brennan grant, but like that level player where it's like, he'll make a little bit of a difference,
37:34but not much. Yeah. I was funny. I think on the part on Monday, I was just kind of
37:38brainstorming teams that are out of it or on the verge of being out of it. And where there are
37:42possible pieces that, you know, ranging from the Josh Huche type, who's literally just a
37:47pass rusher only guy. And he's not, not even the same size class or talent classes Hutchinson
37:53or someone like Jadavian Clowney. I mentioned Trey Hendrickson. Just again, we talked about
37:58this, I think two weeks ago, like if they were to lose a couple more games before the deadline
38:03and he wants a new contract and he's on the wrong side of 30, they just say, you know what,
38:07let's just take a second round pick for him, get off this. And, you know,
38:10we know we're at the shop and we're, we're sort of remaking our team on the fly in the off season,
38:14but there aren't, there aren't a lot of great names out there. Unless, unless you do your,
38:19to what you said in Max Crosby, if somehow the Raiders is that screw it, you know, we're a mess
38:23and we just need to start thinking about the future and go all in on a rebuild then. But I
38:29would, I still imagine I have to do something. They have to, because aside from Hutchinson,
38:34they've been looking for someone on the other side of Hutchinson. They signed Marcus Davenport
38:37in the off season that hasn't done anything. He's been hurt. Like they've been desperate to find
38:42another guy. Now you don't have Hutch. It feels like you need two guys. You're not going to do
38:46that at the deadline, but maybe you get one guy at least to try to mitigate some of the problems.
38:51The couple of things here with the quarterbacks, I'm talking about the Vikings being five and oh,
38:55I thought Sam was shaky against the Jets. Very shaky, probably as shaky as he's been
39:01got off to the great start in that game looked awesome. And then quarters two, three
39:07made some big throws late, which has been sort of his thing this year. He's in, in sort of tight
39:12games. He's made some money throws and he made some money throws in that game. But where is
39:17Darnold a couple of weeks now for teams to continue to gather tape on him? Is this real?
39:21Is it Memorex? What, what are we looking at here? That's an old commercial that probably
39:24nobody remembers. And the other thing is Jared golf versus the Brian Flores defense.
39:31Golf has been awesome. Awesome against the blitz this year, averaging 13.3 yards per attempt
39:37against the blitz that is league best. Of course, the Vikings blitz, according to next gen stats,
39:4241 and a half percent of the time that's third in the league. So he's going to get it. He's going
39:46to get the simulated pressure. He's going to get all that stuff. We know he, he can be sped up,
39:52or at least he has been in the past. Are we, is this a new Jared golf? Is there a more mature
39:57Jared golf that we started to see last year? Is he continuing to take that next step and thrust
40:02himself into the conversation of that next year of quarterbacks that we were mentioning earlier in
40:06the show, but it's, he's going to get challenged by floors. He's going to get challenged by that
40:09defense. And I, I think he has a lot of answers. I think that's part of it too. Will write like
40:14Jamison Williams. It took a little while, but Jamison Williams is making a lot of plays for
40:19them this year. Laporta is outstanding. Even though he's been dealing with some injuries,
40:22I'm on rock gets open, not a game breaker, but he gets open tight coverage. He can work tight
40:28coverage. So he's got more answers than he's had. And that's again, why the Hutchinson go back to
40:33the other side of the ball. That's why the Hutchinson injury hurts so much. Cause you feel
40:36like, man, they've got so many different things. It's just not great without Hutch. It's just like,
40:42yeah, it doesn't, it just doesn't feel the same. Like it just doesn't. I know it's
40:45their league average defensively with the offense humming. Can they, can they get to a Superbowl?
40:54Maybe, maybe, but the offense would have to carry a heavy load. We're talking 30
40:57points a game type stuff. What do you, what do you have? What is,
41:00what does the lines have to offer to the Raiders?
41:06Yeah. We just have to be picks, right? And if you're the Raiders, like, do you not consider it?
41:12Oh, I would. I mean, especially considering Max has hurt a lot. Now he plays through. Yes. I was
41:18going to say he's going to be playing so hard. He's going into his age, 28 year. Yep. He's owed.
41:25Once the last time he got paid, he's not a good chunk of money for sure. I know he's owed a lot
41:29of money. I just don't know when it kicks in. And I'm curious too, with that, because then,
41:33and look, he's going to need a new deal. Okay. Cause okay. He's only got two years remaining
41:40after this. The cat number, if he's traded this year, the Raiders take on 15 total million.
41:48He's got five, four or five dead years on this deal. After this year, his base salary is 22
41:53million and 18 million. The next two years, cat number in the mid twenties. Nick boast. Is it
41:59what, you know, if Michael wants 34, what's what's Max Crosby, who's a better player going to want.
42:04Right. So, I don't know. Does it take two runs and something maybe? I don't know.
42:12He has light. Yeah. It's but if you're Detroit, that's a tough one for Brad Holmes, but look at
42:18Holmes who was under the less sneak tree in LA. What did LA do? They traded for Jalen Ramsey.
42:26They gave up the farm for Jalen Ramsey. They gave up the farm or I gave up a good chunk for
42:31Von Miller to try to win a Superbowl. I wonder now if he looks at it and saying, well, I'm not
42:35really adding to that because I don't have Hutch and not having Hutch, you know, is that worth it?
42:42They might just, I could see them just saying, you know what, it's a fourth round pick for
42:45OJ or fifth round pick for OJ and a fourth round pick for clowny. And let's just see if that
42:51does what it enough for us defensively to put us into that. That's the smart move. I just,
42:57I wonder to myself, like Crosby's already getting mouthy with,
43:00I don't want to be here for a rebuild. They're clearly in a rebuild.
43:04The problem is they just paid, like, it's whatever. When I want to do the Raiders whole
43:08thing, they just, they spend money. Like, why did they bring in Kushner Watkins?
43:13Like he's owed. So, I mean, I guess it's a very front unloaded deal, but like,
43:18and then he gets hurt. Now you can't move him. Like, I don't know. I just, the whole thing is
43:23I, some teams should trade for Jacoby Myers, by the way. I don't know.
43:27Oh yeah. For a hundred percent. Like to me, he was, when you started talking about the receivers,
43:32we knew Devante was going to get moved. You had a pretty good idea. Cooper was going to get moved.
43:37He was the next guy. Like he could be the next guy.
43:42Unless DK Metcalf continues to act like he did in the game against San Francisco. He was a
43:47pouty pouty fella during that course of that game. He's got one more year left on his deal.
43:51I'm sure they don't want to do that. I'm just, you never know with some of these receivers and
43:54how volatile they are. If they just decide one day, they don't feel like playing for you anymore.
43:59We've seen it be a problem for other teams. Christian Wilkins, sorry, not Watkins, owed
44:03$33 million in the cap next year. Yeah. Jacoby Myers has one year remaining
44:10cap number of 14. They reduced it this year, but if he's traded,
44:17the Raiders have to eat pretty much all of it. So yeah, it's about a $5 million
44:20cap it next year. If you take out Myers, I'd be mad if I was a team that wanted another receiver
44:25or two or three and looked at my, I'd make that phone call. I'd make that phone call
44:30and keep making that phone call until they agree to what you want to do.
44:34So I think we both liked the lines in that game. Yeah, it was that way. Let's go. Texans Packers,
44:39another great one. Texas five and one Packers four and two. Jordan Love looked like the MCL thing
44:47is not much of a problem anymore. He looked great last weekend. Texans, as I mentioned earlier,
44:53scored 41 on the Patriots, played with the food in that one, got up comfortable,
44:57two touchdowns, never seemed like they were totally stressed in that game. In fact,
45:01I didn't mention it before, but the Texans didn't really throw a lot at May. I thought
45:06D'Amico Ryan's would throw a bunch of different stuff to put his head in the blender. And said,
45:10he was like, yeah, we're just going to blitz a little bit, but it'll be a man blitz. Now we're
45:14not doing anything crazy here because I just think he felt that comfortable about the level
45:19of talent he had on his side versus what they were bringing to the table. I know CJ, he threw
45:27another interception as sort of a kind of forced it in there. I think if he'd set his feet, maybe
45:33he could have made the throw, but I am impressed by him. Will, in the sense that he is like,
45:39it's calm, man. It doesn't, there's a rush at his feet. He takes a little half step back,
45:44still steps into the throw. He's incredibly poised. He's incredibly accurate. Seemed to put
45:50the ball where he wanted to put it, especially in moments where, as I mentioned, they get out
45:54to the 14-0 lead in the first few drives and he's spreading it all over the place and looks great.
45:59And then, oh, Patriots make it a little interesting on a touchdown before the half,
46:03they get the turnover and then boom, hits Diggs. Diggs gives him a little flash, bam, touchdown.
46:09He sees what the defense is doing to him and generally does a very good thing with the
46:15football when he does it. The Packers, we've talked a lot about, and they've talked a lot
46:20about sort of this remade defense under Jeff Halfley, the former BC coach who made the jump
46:24to the college ranks to be the DC for LaFleur there. And they're feeling good about themselves
46:30and how they're playing. This is a different sort of challenge for them because I think
46:35even without Nico Collins, that's a pretty dangerous passing offense. Tank Dell looked
46:39outstanding against the Patriots and he's chewing them up underneath.
46:42Yeah, this is a pretty intriguing four-game stretch for Houston. I think
46:47they probably feel like they could be 4-0, but it kind of feels like they're 2-2 through this
46:52stretch at Green Bay, home Indy, at the Jets, home Lions before they go to Dallas.
46:59If I'm Houston, if I'm Green Bay, I feel like this game matters more to me. I know they're
47:03both non-conference, but Green Bay obviously got off to a much better start considering the injury
47:09to Jordan Love. They obviously only tripped up once, and that was with Jordan Love, which is
47:13the crazy part. But I just feel like this game matters a little more to me. I'm at home. Houston's
47:19not fully healthy. I'm starting to play really good ball right now. The weather's going to suck.
47:22It's 50s and rainy and playing an indoor team out at home. A little bit of a statement like
47:29we're feeling good now. We're locked in and loaded. If Minnesota or Detroit trips up,
47:36you gain two games in a sense, especially if Minnesota loses. That's huge for Green Bay.
47:40They need Minnesota to keep losing, obviously, already having lost that tiebreaker. I feel like
47:45from a Houston perspective, it's keep doing what you're doing. Joe Mixon being back, he looks the
47:49best he's looked in years. We'll see if that lasts. But at the moment, he's looked great.
47:53Noniko has allowed a lot of other guys to get some burn. I just feel like Houston's a team that
48:00has been really impressive, but also not wowed you a lot. Again, they wowed you last week.
48:09Generally, if I'm Houston, this would be a pretty big statement. When they go into Lambeau
48:12like that and take care of business, move to 6-1, they're keeping pace for that one seed.
48:17And again, if you go ahead and lose, it's a non-conference game. Again, tough for Indy at
48:23home. You should take care of business. You're probably 6-2 going into that Jets game. Jets and
48:27Lions, worst case, you're 6-4. Best case, you're 8-2. This is going to be a fun one. Two really
48:35good young quarterbacks. Obviously, Weld is only in year two. Although, he's obviously far older
48:39than CJ Shaw. I'm very intrigued by this one. I think this might be the aesthetically best game
48:46to watch this weekend. Yeah, it sort of has that sort of vibe to it. I'm curious to see what the
48:51Packers do with Anderson and Hunter coming off the edge. Those guys were combined for four sacks.
48:57Anderson had three in the game. Patriots didn't maybe do enough with help to keep those guys out
49:07of Drake May's face or sticking their helmet in his back. Or there's the one shot where he's
49:11throwing the ball, and he's getting absolutely destroyed. And the elbow is going in the wrong
49:15direction. The shoulder is going in the wrong direction. And again, as we mentioned, he's on
49:19the injury report. Drake May is this week for the first time. It's a knee, not a shoulder. But it
49:23wouldn't surprise me if there was an okey-doke there either, because that arm didn't go that
49:27way. And he reached for his right arm after the strip sack by Hunter. So those guys are disruptive
49:33as hell. And as I mentioned, they didn't run a lot of games with him. So I'm curious if D'Amico
49:39comes up with a little bit more, gets out of the vanilla, and comes up with something a little bit
49:43spicier for Jordan Love and for that offense, which has been humming at a pretty good rate
49:48this season. A couple other ones that we want to hit before we get out of here. Actually, you know
49:52what I'm going to do? Prize picks. And while I'm reading prize picks, you better make sure you come
49:56up with your prize. I already got a few good ones. I got two good ones. I got two good ones for you.
50:00I found my third. So this is the CLNS Media Networks. It's our fantasy app. It's go-to.
50:08It is tremendous. Select between two to six players. You can win up to 100 times your money.
50:16And of course, we have this great deal going on. Download the app today. Prize picks. Use code
50:20CLNS to get $50 instantly after you play your first $5 lineup. Again, use the code CLNS to get
50:27$50 when you deposit just $5. You don't even have to win the $5. They're just sticking $50 in your
50:33account. That's fantastic. Just, I got to tell you, red hot. I'm just letting you know, red hot.
50:42Last week, huge. I got my picks coming up. You're going to want to tune in for that. Follow along.
50:47I can't promise you that you're going to win, but I'm just telling you, I'm feeling, I got the vibes.
50:51I got the good vibes going on prize picks. Mike, here's a good question. Here's a trivia
50:57question for you. Who are the top two guys in the NFL this year in PFF's big-time throw rate?
51:06If you had to guess, who had the most big-time throws? Who has the most big-time throw of the
51:11top two guys? I'm going to say Sam. No, they're more obvious than you think they are. One's
51:19obvious. The other one, I cover one of them. Rogers is one of the two, huh?
51:26Yeah. The other one's definitely the second best quarterback in football.
51:31Josh Allen. Yeah. Josh, 13. Rogers, 12. Would you have guessed Rogers was on there?
51:38I would not have. And look, I have not. I said it. He still makes every freaking throw.
51:47He's going to be able to throw the football until he's 65 years old.
51:49Probably, yeah. I feel like if you put Brady in there now, don't move, kid, but can you
51:55throw the ball like you normally? Can you drive that deep out or come back? Yeah, I think you can.
51:59Next week, we're going to do five minutes on the ridiculous rules Brady has.
52:05It's not worth it now. We'll get to the last couple. The one I want to hit on,
52:11which I think we have not talked a lot about because they're terrible.
52:15We got Browns-Bengals this week. It's not going to be a fun game to watch. The Bengals should
52:20take care of business there. They're on the road to being back, although they did not look good at
52:25all, I thought, on Sunday night. Defensively, they did, but we know who they were playing.
52:31That said, this has got to be Deshaun's last start, right? I don't think so. It should be.
52:37It should have been his last start three weeks ago, two weeks ago.
52:40Here's a better question. If you're the Patriots, would you say, give us a one,
52:45and we'll take on the contract, and we'll cut them? I would want more than a one.
52:51If you're the Patriots, you're like, we'll get Travis Hunter, and we'll take Mason Graham,
52:55and we'll start rebuilding this thing up real nice.
53:01Actually, somebody mentioned this too. We do a membership Q&A in Boston Sports Journal,
53:05and someone mentioned that to me. Would you do it? I was like, oh, I'd think long and hard about it.
53:09Their pie-in-the-sky thing was two ones and a two, or something like that. I can't imagine that
53:15that would happen, because not only are you setting back the franchise with the money that you're
53:18having to eat, and go find another quarterback, and all that stuff, but then you're giving away
53:23all your draft picks to try to build up the team. You're basically saying, we're going to suck the
53:27next three, four years, at the very least, and then the long-term damage losing top picks like
53:34that would do. You told me a one and a three. One this year, a three next year, or something like
53:40that. I look at my cap situation, where I think the Patriots, right now, they're $38 million under
53:46the cap, which we assume you're going to roll almost all of that over. Maybe somebody gets a
53:51late deal done, an extension at some point between now and the end of the season, but that's probably
53:57all going to roll over, and I think they would be around $100 million under the cap. Patriots
54:02are dying. People take their money. Why not buy another first-round pick? I would absolutely
54:07think about doing it, because again, when you start looking at the free agent list,
54:12it's not overwhelming. Their best path to becoming relevant again, and becoming a good
54:20team, and a playoff team, is to continue to build through the draft, and then you sprinkle in a
54:24signing here, and a signing there. Maybe build some veteran depth, which is one of the, like,
54:28if I have any, just go back to them real quick, if I have a bone to pick with part of their roster
54:34build this year, I mean, there's many bones to pick, but like, they have all this money,
54:38and when they got the cut down day, there was like 43 or 44 guys worth being on the roster.
54:44They could have plucked a few veteran guys here or there off the free agent market, that again,
54:49slight overpay, but for one year, I'm paying this guy $3.5 million. He's a $2 million player,
54:53but I know I have a better backup, or a guy who can at least give me 10 snaps
54:57at, say, off the ball linebacker, which has been a big problem for them this year,
55:01especially with the injuries, and like, they don't have that, and they're just shuffling
55:04guys off the street, and it's contributed to being one in five, but I would 100% think about doing
55:11that. Do you really think, if they stink this week, that he'll pull the plug on Deshaun?
55:17No, I think someone's going to have to force them to do it, and it's going to be ownership,
55:19and Andrew Barry, and I just don't think they're ready to do it yet.
55:22No, it actually, I think they'd rather go down and have the coach have to get replaced,
55:27which is insane.
55:27I think that's where, I think that's absolutely where we're headed.
55:30Yeah, and the other-
55:31Blended on the coach. They blended on the offensive coaching staff last year,
55:33which is why all those guys got fired, which is why, you know, part why Alex Van Pelt is the
55:37offensive coordinator in New England, and who's the next guy on the list? It would be Stefanski
55:44taking the bait for that, because they're only paying him, whatever, $10, $12 million a year,
55:47and they've got hundreds of millions of dollars guaranteed to Deshaun, just foist him on someone
55:53else, and hope that they can fix him. The other game we want to hit real quick,
55:56Giants and Eagles, again, probably not going to be that great of a football game.
56:00Eagles continue to absolutely flummox me. I don't, one week to the next, I have no
56:06idea what you're going to get. Jalen Hurst is not the same quarterback we saw two years ago,
56:10and he fooled me. I really did truly believe he was going to be a top five to eight quarterback.
56:16He's not that. He's probably not even in the second group right now, which I know probably
56:20bothers people, but I feel like you, a lot has to be right for him, but this is about
56:25Saquon Barkley playing his old team of the Giants. We saw the hard knocks in the off season,
56:33and the owner Mara being like, I don't know if I can stomach seeing him on another team.
56:39Well, guess what? You get to do it, and take more, take more on Saquon Barkley for everything,
56:47yards, touchdowns, receiving yards, touches, whatever you can get, take more.
56:51Yeah, I'll do this, and I'll lead myself right into our prize picks, because I feel,
56:55I want to beat you to it. I feel very good about my three. Yeah, I just think this is a game where
57:01the Giants have every right to be just as annoyed at Saquon as Saquon does at the Giants, and
57:04I mean, it's not popular. There'll be some bad blood in there. I'll be interested to see how
57:08the crowd reacts. Other than that, this game is kind of a poop fest, at least for the time being,
57:14until the Giants show they can kick field goals and score points, and you know, on the Eagles
57:18side of things, Sirianni is the most insufferable person in football right now. He has been for
57:23years, and it's even worse now. My three prize picks, Mike, I'm going to go more Jalen Waddell
57:29in yards. I'm going to go more Devontae Adams in total yards or catches, however you want to
57:35operate there. He's going to get peppered with targets. You know Rodgers is going to try to
57:38make him look good. I'm going to go more rushing yards on Justin Fields. I have a feeling they will
57:45use him in that Tim Tebow-ish role, and he'll run for, you know, X amount of yards, and we'll be
57:50like, why didn't they just start him? So those are my three prize picks. Yeah, I like those. I like
57:57those. So, Pop Douglas, more yards, 44.5. If you want to do, you can't use the same, you can't use
58:07two from the same team and one more. 4.5 in receptions is where I would go with Douglas. So
58:1544, more on that. Four and a half receptions, more on that. How about Chris Godwin? Mike Evans,
58:23all of a sudden on the interview report, more receiving yards, 72.5. And then, even though I
58:29was just criticizing Jalen Hurts, there's no question he's going to throw the ball to A.J.
58:34Brown, and A.J. Brown is good for at least one explosive, it seems like, every week when he's
58:40playing. 70.5, so more on 70.5. And that's it. I like it. I feel like there's money to be had there
58:49from the selections that we've just put forth. That's going to wrap up this edition of the All
58:5532. We will be back on Monday to break down week seven. And we'll get, look, we'll be a depressed
59:04person if the Steelers beat the Jets. And I remain hopeful that I will be able to write about something,
59:13write about a win. It's been very rare that I've been able to write about wins the last
59:18two seasons as the Patriots have lost 18 of their last 23. So that's going to do it. A reminder to
59:24like, subscribe, tell your friends, leave a review, all that good stuff as we continue to
59:28build the All 32 brand. But that is it for now. We'll see you on Monday.
