00:00:00It is caught! Touchdown!
00:00:04The New England Patriots select Drake May.
00:00:08He's got the ball! And that's the ball game!
00:00:12Here we are, playoff edition of the All-32 Pod, Mike Giardi with Will Parkinson.
00:00:17As always, not only are we going to break down all the games,
00:00:21but we obviously are in the middle of the coaching and GM search season,
00:00:25so we're definitely going to hit that as well.
00:00:27And just a quick shout-out to the Notre Dame-Penn State game.
00:00:30Maybe the college playoffs have not been awesome,
00:00:33but if you watched Thursday night's game in Miami,
00:00:37what a freaking football game.
00:00:39Two teams laid it out on the line.
00:00:41You were texting me, it was like old-school football.
00:00:43They beat the crap out of each other.
00:00:45Just a freaking awesome football game.
00:00:47I need some of that this weekend.
00:00:49They got my blood flowing for this weekend.
00:00:51Give me some of that on Saturday and Sunday.
00:00:55First half, horrible.
00:00:57You're like, dude, this is tough.
00:00:59These teams suck.
00:01:01Second half was special.
00:01:04It was exactly what you want in a Final Four-level game.
00:01:08It was Marcus Freeman showing why I think he's a superstar.
00:01:12And I really, truly believe this.
00:01:16And again, I don't know if anyone's going to do it,
00:01:20but every team that has an opening should be requesting Marcus Freeman
00:01:23and saying, let's just at least try.
00:01:26Peter Scherger had the report about the Bears' job.
00:01:29He did redo his deal about three or four weeks ago,
00:01:32but I believe, if I'm not mistaken, the buyout's not,
00:01:34I think it's about $9 million.
00:01:36An NFL team very much should be, I don't know.
00:01:40He, to me, is like, you want to talk about culture builder
00:01:42and all these different things.
00:01:44Dude's 38 years old and took a program who no one took seriously
00:01:47for the last, what, 15 years in terms of big games?
00:01:51They have five top 10 wins, or top 25 wins this year.
00:01:54More than James Franklin or whatever has in whatever amount of years.
00:01:58One in 15.
00:02:00Why was Raheem Morris on the sideline for Penn State?
00:02:02I know, it's really weird.
00:02:04Did you see there's also a shot of, and I know they were there for the game,
00:02:06but Lee Corso was literally at one point in the game standing directly behind.
00:02:10There was a lot of weird things going on yesterday,
00:02:14but great football game, and yeah, we've got a lot to get into.
00:02:18This show, as always, the All32Pod brought to you by PrizePix,
00:02:21the exclusive daily fantasy partner of the CLNS Media Network
00:02:25and GameTime Best Tickets, Best Prices,
00:02:27to get you to see any event that you want to see.
00:02:30Well, you mentioned Freeman, and I think it's a great point,
00:02:33and Peter Schrager did have the report about Chicago being interested
00:02:38in sort of being, Chicago's going through,
00:02:41they're talking to a lot of different people,
00:02:43and I wonder if maybe they're taking their time here
00:02:46because maybe Marcus Freeman is a little higher up.
00:02:48Or Ryan Day.
00:02:49Yeah, right, on the board than we think.
00:02:52But let's get into some of the news that happened
00:02:54since the last time we talked.
00:02:56The Raiders fired Antonio Pierce, which we thought should have happened,
00:03:00and they delayed it a little bit.
00:03:02And then a day later, they fired Tom Telesco.
00:03:05The general feeling is, hey, they want to get both the GM and the head coach
00:03:08on the same schedule in terms of contract and everything,
00:03:11which makes a ton of sense, in my opinion.
00:03:13A lot of teams aren't doing this, including one in my backyard
00:03:16that we'll talk about in a little bit.
00:03:20But Tom Brady's influence here, I think, is pretty important to note,
00:03:25and I think, for instance, Ben Johnson taking four interviews,
00:03:28virtual interviews this week, one with the Raiders,
00:03:31and considering his desire to have a quarterback,
00:03:35they don't have a quarterback, and where they're picking right now,
00:03:38they're going to have to do some movement to get up
00:03:40in the quarterback draft.
00:03:42I think that the only reason Ben Johnson has taken that
00:03:44is because of a belief or a respect for Tom Brady,
00:03:48and maybe all of a sudden now the Raiders are a little bit more serious
00:03:51than they've been in previous years.
00:03:53How do you feel about that?
00:03:55I actually feel the opposite.
00:03:57I think that the Raiders and Titans, and the Titans we'll get to in a second here,
00:04:03have gotten a huge free pass in a lot of the ways they've operated,
00:04:07especially the Raiders have 11 coaches over a long stretch of time.
00:04:13Okay, that's not too bad.
00:04:15Mark Davis is going to be paying four coaches, four GMs,
00:04:22all at the same time.
00:04:24They've had four different guys on the job,
00:04:26and then maybe even a fifth if you count interns or placeholders
00:04:33since 2021 or 2022.
00:04:36It's gotten to the point where you're not in that job longer than,
00:04:40I think the average is 30 games you have that job.
00:04:44Like the Gruden thing, yeah, you couldn't have foreseen that,
00:04:46and sure, you know, you give them a break there.
00:04:48Okay, man, hey.
00:04:50They go to Josh, and it's like, okay, probably should have gotten fired,
00:04:54but still it's like, well, it's a pretty short lease.
00:04:57You go to Pierce, and you're like, you shouldn't have retained them,
00:04:59and they still do it, and then you fire them anyways.
00:05:03I think anyone β I told you this offseason,
00:05:05go back and look at the games they won last year with Pierce as the intern.
00:05:09It wasn't actually β it wasn't like this well-coached team.
00:05:12It was like, hey, we hated Josh McDaniels so much
00:05:14that anybody we would have played harder for,
00:05:16and I'm sure Pierce has good qualities as a leader,
00:05:19but he's not a next-to-his-nose guy.
00:05:22He's not an experienced coach.
00:05:24He wasn't good with the clock, wasn't good with fourth downs
00:05:26and different things.
00:05:27Like there was no real redeeming quality, and the pressers,
00:05:29he's liking stuff on Instagram.
00:05:31Disaster.
00:05:32The Telesco thing is where I'm frustrated.
00:05:34I think it's BS to have a guy who actually had a really impressive draft last year
00:05:40lose his job after a year.
00:05:42If you were going to fire him after a year, why did you give him this long contract?
00:05:46There's just things there, and I understand the organizational alignment,
00:05:50but if you're an owner β I mean, if you're a GM or a head coach,
00:05:54what's appealing about this job other than Tom Brady and Vegas?
00:05:57Those are big appeals.
00:05:58That's great.
00:05:59This roster, you're probably going to trade Max Crosby, and if you don't,
00:06:02you're extending a guy who's β I don't know that's going to age the best,
00:06:06if we're being honest.
00:06:07The way he plays feels like a guy who you get as much as you can out of him
00:06:11in a short stretch.
00:06:13Bowers is great.
00:06:14They have some nice, young, offensive linemen.
00:06:17Christian Wilkins' contract kind of sucks.
00:06:20What else is there on that team?
00:06:21Robert Spillane is a nice backer.
00:06:23I don't know that you feel great about the actual roster.
00:06:26The division is extremely difficult, and frankly,
00:06:29if you don't do well over a 12 to 24, you're going to get fired.
00:06:33So I get all of that, but I just β there's red flags to me.
00:06:38So this is where I think it's β why I'm wondering if it's changing
00:06:42because it feels as though, even though Mark is clearly impetuous
00:06:47and makes rash decisions, that he might have better checks and balances
00:06:53with Brady being more involved.
00:06:55And there's Richard Seymour.
00:06:57There's different people in there, but Brady to me is the big one,
00:06:59and it's the big draw.
00:07:00Yeah.
00:07:01I mean, Trask referred to Seymour and said that he's going to have
00:07:03a very big influence in this as well.
00:07:05So I don't see Ben Johnson taking this interview unless he β
00:07:09I mean, there's obviously back-channeling going on, as we know,
00:07:12that he has an idea that, hey, maybe the worm has turned there,
00:07:16and this job is more attractive than it should be.
00:07:18You mentioned the Titans.
00:07:21So a year after they fire Mike Vrabel because they didn't feel like β
00:07:24well, there were a lot of things there, but the collaboration.
00:07:26They were really pushing a collaborative nature
00:07:29with first-year GM Rand Carthlin.
00:07:32They let Brian Callihan stay, but they fire Carthon
00:07:36after just his second season.
00:07:38I've said it all along.
00:07:39I think the roster is a goddamn mess.
00:07:41It's like it makes β
00:07:42Bottom three in the league?
00:07:43Yeah.
00:07:44It made no sense.
00:07:45Like, hey, let's pay Ridley.
00:07:46That's great.
00:07:47He's a good player, and they have some older players.
00:07:51The roster just didn't make any sense,
00:07:53and I don't think they put Brian Callihan in the best position,
00:07:56and I don't know if he can coach or not.
00:07:58Quite frankly, I think that team is a mess.
00:08:01Amy, Adam Strunk, the owner, talk about rash and impetuous,
00:08:06one bad decision after another there.
00:08:10I mean, look, there's only one of 32 jobs,
00:08:12but even now they're structuring hours different.
00:08:14Is it even really a GM job?
00:08:16So that's my big issue here is that I don't even β
00:08:19I think we all β
00:08:20Anyone you ask around the league, if they're being honest,
00:08:24Ren Carthan did a less than stellar job.
00:08:27I know it's two years.
00:08:28I know two years for a GM is very different than two years for a coach.
00:08:31All these things are true.
00:08:32I understand the optics of it.
00:08:34They got the number one pick, and like, hey, you know, he hired the coach,
00:08:38so why β those are all fair.
00:08:42If you have β
00:08:43This is a bigger issue, and I don't β
00:08:45We don't have β
00:08:46It's playoff time, and we'll get more into this in the offseason.
00:08:48We have football operations, the president of football operations,
00:08:52the team president, these different roles that a lot of these organizations
00:08:56and frankly a lot of the bad ones have.
00:08:59There's good examples, right?
00:09:00A Chris Spielman in Detroit who works hand-in-hand with the owner in terms of
00:09:04helping culture build, hire, and then get out of the way, right?
00:09:09Those are the good guys, quote-unquote, in the league.
00:09:14There's also the Rich McKays.
00:09:17There's also, in this case, Chad Brinker.
00:09:21Chad Brinker has final say over the 53-man roster.
00:09:26What's the GM's job?
00:09:29You don't report to the owner.
00:09:31You report to a guy above you.
00:09:33That guy above you isn't a general manager but yet has decision.
00:09:38Mike, let's just say the Titans go, we're going to trade back from one.
00:09:41We can get a haul.
00:09:42The Raiders, the Giants, they want you to work really badly.
00:09:45I don't agree with it, but let's just say they do.
00:09:48He goes, no, I'm good.
00:09:49I don't want to do that.
00:09:50You can't.
00:09:53That's to me.
00:09:55If you're going to this job, I think Diana Rossini reported Reggie McKenzie
00:09:58as the favorite for this job.
00:10:00I love the list the Titans put out, by the way.
00:10:02They requested some great names, names that I would have.
00:10:05Borgonzi, Dodds, et cetera.
00:10:07You're like, wow, the Titans, they're an attractive job because it's Nashville
00:10:12and the first overall pick.
00:10:15I don't think it's an attractive job because it's really an assistant GM job
00:10:18because you don't have finals, say, over the 53.
00:10:20Mike, that is a huge, huge problem.
00:10:23I honestly don't understand why you would have a structure that goes that way
00:10:28when we see the NFL, the best organizations, that's not the way it works.
00:10:33I'm honestly mind boggled that this is still a thing.
00:10:38One hundred percent, and just to clarify the role,
00:10:42and people actually had to do digging on this,
00:10:44and this is from Jonathan Jones, I believe, to CBS Sports.
00:10:47The NFL reviewed the description of the Titans GM position,
00:10:50and the two sides have agreed that the vacant position
00:10:52will be the primary football executive post.
00:10:55Non-GMs cannot be blocked by their current teams
00:10:58from accepting the interview request.
00:11:01But again, that you have to go through this thing
00:11:03and clarify what the role means just proves the level of dysfunction.
00:11:08I have good friends down there who work for the team.
00:11:11I have good friends who cover the team.
00:11:13And all I get from them is it's a bleep show.
00:11:16It's been a bleep show.
00:11:18And as they like to call her Miss Amy, Miss Amy has screwed this thing up.
00:11:23They were aβthink about this.
00:11:26And really for the entirety of Rabel's tenure,
00:11:29even though the final two years there was a drop-off in wins,
00:11:33they were a relevant franchise.
00:11:35And even when they were losing the last two years,
00:11:38they were competitive in losing.
00:11:41And now they're 3-14, they're getting their doors blown off left and right,
00:11:46and they're aimless.
00:11:47It isβit's a hot mess.
00:11:49The one thing I want toβjust last thing here.
00:11:52I'm going to give you a quiz here.
00:11:55How many people do you think are considered football executive leadership
00:11:58for the Titans?
00:12:00They're listed on the Titans website.
00:12:02This is not inside info.
00:12:04I'm saying it's a stupid number.
00:12:06It's like eight.
00:12:07It's one.
00:12:08It's just Chad Brinker.
00:12:09Oh, just Brinker.
00:12:10Okay, so it's the absolute worst.
00:12:11What about on the business side?
00:12:14Well, maybe that's where they have the absurd number.
00:12:17You guessed it right.
00:12:18You justβeight people on the business side,
00:12:20and then one person on the football side.
00:12:23Again, the Jets have this issue, and we'll get to the Jets in a second.
00:12:28When you prioritize, and it feels like you prioritize business over football
00:12:33and you trust the wrong people, I justβI'm not saying all president
00:12:37of football operations guys are bad.
00:12:38I think it's really important for a first-time GM to have a person
00:12:41that is a parallel to them.
00:12:45They can lean on, can help build out departments, can help build out scouting
00:12:48and analytics groups and all these different things.
00:12:50But anyone that's seen Game of Thrones, the character Littlefinger,
00:12:54I'm so serious when I use this example, those guys exist in every organization
00:12:58if you let it.
00:12:59And these owners and these billionaire owners end up sometimes trusting
00:13:03their own people.
00:13:04And when they do that, we see a lot of organizational failure.
00:13:07When you look at the Hunts, I'm just using the Chiefs as the example
00:13:10because they are the model organization, at least on-field product in the NFL.
00:13:15You know, Brett Veach and Andy Reid make the decisions.
00:13:19The ownership's not perfect there, but you know what they do?
00:13:22They don't have Littlefinger that's a guy that's above Brett Veach,
00:13:26that's telling Brett Veach and Mike Borgonzi what to do on draft night,
00:13:29but then, you know, saying it's your fault and if you don't win, you're fired.
00:13:33That's the stuff Iβwe talk to the Patriots and all these things.
00:13:36That is such a pain point for me that I justβI'm telling you,
00:13:41look at the organizations that struggle.
00:13:43It's all the same owners that meddle or owners that have henchmen that meddle,
00:13:49and it doesn't ever end well.
00:13:51Where are you with the Jets search currently?
00:13:55Obviously, both head coach and GM.
00:13:58So I know I went on a tangent there.
00:14:01I'm just telling you, it's just one of those things that we don't talk about enough
00:14:05in the league, and it's always like these fancy titles.
00:14:07It's like, hey, why did this guy get fired right away?
00:14:09It's because, you know, Trent Bahlke has the owner's son's ear
00:14:14and the owner's ear, and that's why he's survived 800 times.
00:14:18From a Jets perspective, quickly, they've had now in-persons, Mike Borgonzi,
00:14:22Mike Greenberg, probably the two favorites from the GM perspective.
00:14:25Nick Calabi as well from the Eagles.
00:14:28In-person GMs, they've complied with the Rooney rule.
00:14:31Ray Farmer and Louis Riddick have interviewed there, and again,
00:14:34not to be that guy, but, you know, in order to make a decision around anybody.
00:14:38Borgonzi, I didn't think would take the interview.
00:14:41He has, Northeast guy.
00:14:43It would be a huge get for the Jets if they were able to get this
00:14:46across the finish line.
00:14:48Seems like he's the top candidate.
00:14:50From a head coaching perspective, they've interviewed pretty much anybody
00:14:55that's ever coached football in their life for both these positions.
00:14:59Vrabel obviously looks like he's going to be the Patriots' next head coach,
00:15:02which we'll talk about here in a second.
00:15:04I would say Aaron Glenn's probably the favorite.
00:15:07He told Rich Cimini or back-channeled to Rich Cimini this was his dream job.
00:15:11Again, this is a guy that played for the Jets' first-round pick.
00:15:13Was a part of this massive turnaround for fans old enough to remember
00:15:16when the Jets got traded for Parcells and stuff.
00:15:19Aaron Glenn, first-round pick in 1994, was here for the Jets,
00:15:24becoming pretty relevant and good for a long stretch of, you know,
00:15:281997 through 2011, where they were a very respectable franchise.
00:15:31I'm sure Pat's fans and Dolphin's fans and Bill's fans would even admit
00:15:34they were in the playoffs at least every other year.
00:15:38Glenn also worked as a scout for the Jets for quite some time
00:15:40before going to, you know, New Orleans and then obviously to Detroit.
00:15:46He'd probably be the odds-on favorite at the moment.
00:15:50I would say other names just to keep an eye on.
00:15:52Brian Flores obviously as well.
00:15:56The other kind of rogue one, and I texted you about this,
00:15:59there's a chance here Josh McCown's the Jets' next head coach.
00:16:02And I know in the grand scheme of things it seems like, well, that is insane.
00:16:09I don't know if it's insane.
00:16:11In some ways, I almost think he'd be a better head coach right away
00:16:14than an offensive coordinator because he's never called plays.
00:16:18And while he was high school, he was a high school head coach.
00:16:20And he has that leadership quality, Tim, and sometimes it's not about β
00:16:25we talked about Mike Tomlin.
00:16:26I think you brought up the example last week, earlier this week,
00:16:30about Mike Tomlin.
00:16:31And I'm not, by the way, I'm not by any means saying
00:16:34that Josh McCown's Mike Tomlin yet.
00:16:36But everyone knows he was going to get that Texans job
00:16:39until Flores sued the league four years ago.
00:16:42That was his job.
00:16:43He was getting it.
00:16:44They were going to give it to him, and they end up hiring David Cully
00:16:47and then Levy Smith and then D'Amico.
00:16:50But I don't think people would roll their eyes around the league
00:16:54as much about Josh being the Jets' head coach, next head coach,
00:16:58because I just think some guys have it, and he seems like a guy who has it.
00:17:02Whether he's going to be successful and the Jets will be patient enough
00:17:05with him and all these different things.
00:17:07But I would say right now, if you told me percentage-wise,
00:17:10I'd say 50% Aaron Glenn, 20% Flores, 15% McCown, and then β what am I at there?
00:17:1970%, 85%.
00:17:2115% maybe Matt Nagy is probably the other one, just because experienced guy.
00:17:25If they hired Borganzi, would he bring over Nagy?
00:17:28But, yeah, it'll be interesting.
00:17:30They've interviewed a lot of people.
00:17:31They can make a hire at any time.
00:17:33But, again, a lot of the guys, Greenberg, Borganzi, Glenn, Flores,
00:17:37are all in the playoffs still, so nothing really can be done anytime soon.
00:17:41Yeah, I would just β when you mention Borganzi as probably their top choice,
00:17:46it just immediately leads me to Nagy.
00:17:48And, look, 34 and 31 in Chicago, when we consider the dumpster fire
00:17:55that they've generally been both before and after,
00:17:58maybe we didn't give him enough credit for that.
00:18:00He just seems so freaking uninspired to me.
00:18:05But if Borganzi's been with him for a while now,
00:18:09if Borganzi feels like he's ready for this round two and he's going to be better,
00:18:15then he's got certainly some institutional knowledge there.
00:18:18Let's get on to the Patriots.
00:18:20Actually, you know what?
00:18:21Let's do this first.
00:18:22Let's talk about prize picks because we're in playoff football

00:19:15All right, let's do Pats now.
00:19:18Mike Vrabel had his in-person interview in downtown Boston
00:19:22with Robert and Jonathan Kraft.
00:19:25He's not technically the GM.
00:19:26I forget what his title is.
00:19:27Elliott Wolfe, who's essentially the GM,
00:19:29and his right-hand man, good buddy, Alonzo Highsmith.
00:19:32Those were the only four people in the room with Vrabel.
00:19:36It concluded around 5 o'clock yesterday.
00:19:39He obviously is the odds-on favorite.
00:19:42I would say it's a two-horse race.
00:19:44We're taping this Friday.
00:19:46It's 1048.
00:19:47Ben Johnson is scheduled for his virtual interview today.
00:19:50They requested Aaron Glenn.
00:19:52Aaron Glenn said thanks, but no thanks,
00:19:54because Aaron Glenn is a smart man and realized,
00:19:57A, they didn't ask me before,
00:20:00and then they got some crap about the two candidates they interviewed
00:20:03to fulfill the Rooney rule, which were Pep Hamilton and Byron Leff,
00:20:06which both guys have been out of football for two seasons,
00:20:09and said, I'm not doing this.
00:20:12Like, you guys got some back?
00:20:14It's kind of like the New Jersey defenders and Byron Leff,
00:20:17which who has not coached since.
00:20:19I talked to people around the league, and they were like,
00:20:22and look, I think generally the consensus is it's Mike Vrabel is the odds-on
00:20:26favorite to take the job.
00:20:28But they were like, you want to make a mockery out of the Rooney rule.
00:20:32That's exactly how you do it.
00:20:35Go request Brian Flores.
00:20:37Go request Aaron Glenn.
00:20:39Real quick, just some kind of breaking news.
00:20:42We have not talked a lot about the Cowboys.
00:20:44It seems as though, per Tom Pelissero,
00:20:47after several days of discussion, Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy remain open
00:20:50and moving forward together.
00:20:51The Suns are expected to open talks on a new contract today.
00:20:54So that looks like that's not going to open.
00:20:56I just wanted, before we, Cowboys fans, I didn't want to ignore you.
00:21:00It felt like it was going to head that way when they denied the request for
00:21:04the Bears to interview him, like, okay, we're going to figure this out,
00:21:07and we're going to get you.
00:21:08It's probably going to be a shorter interview.
00:21:10I just want to make sure we hit on that.
00:21:12Yep, 100%.
00:21:14So, Aaron Glenn, look, I'm not taking a part of this sort of sham thing.
00:21:21I think that Patriots are open to the idea that Ben Johnson could make an
00:21:27incredible pitch today and all of a sudden say, hey, this two-horse race
00:21:32that Mike's a couple horse heads ahead, now all of a sudden it's a little
00:21:37closer, and maybe we do put the brakes on this a little bit and see if we can
00:21:42get Ben Johnson in person and see if we have that same vibe in person that we
00:21:46did on Zoom.
00:21:48But I still think this comes down to the notion that Rabel is the right guy at
00:21:54the right moment for this franchise.
00:21:56They have been unstable, even at the end of the Belichick era and certainly
00:22:01through the circus and clown show that was the Gerard Mayo brief era here in
00:22:06New England.
00:22:07They need to raise the floor, which he certainly, Mike Rabel raises the floor
00:22:13on this football team.
00:22:14He will give them a real identity and a real culture.
00:22:17I think the notion of Ben Johnson as a play caller and the fact that he does
00:22:21have a lot of experience, he's coached wide receivers, he's coached tight ends,
00:22:24he's been around the league, he coached in college as well.
00:22:26That's where he started at BC.
00:22:28Like, there's more experience there than some of these other hot shot, tight
00:22:34pants wearing offensive coordinators.
00:22:36However, I still think that's a big risk, and I'm not sure that they're willing
00:22:41to take that risk at this point.
00:22:43So again, I think the general feeling here that I've gotten is, yeah, if Ben
00:22:47Johnson is so awesome on Friday, maybe we slow our roll.
00:22:51But generally, my feeling is Mike Rabel is going to end up being the head coach
00:22:55of this football team, and I think it's the right thing for the football team.
00:22:58Yeah, it feels like Rabel's announced Monday, unless Ben Johnson or Presser
00:23:03Monday are announced Monday, unless we hear that Johnson totally dominated.
00:23:08One thing you've heard about Ben Johnson is that he doesn't interview great.
00:23:13We hear that a lot of times when guys don't get jobs, they don't interview well.
00:23:17And let's face it, the Zoom thing, if you don't interview great and you're
00:23:22trying to do it over Zoom, I mean, there's that slight delay.
00:23:26It's like you can't read body language necessarily.
00:23:29That's a tough thing.
00:23:30When do you jump in?
00:23:31When do you not jump in?
00:23:33No, it seems like Patriots fans, at least a lot of people I interact with on
00:23:38Twitter and things like that, a lot of people want Ben Johnson.
00:23:42It seems like Rabel was like, it's almost too easy.
00:23:44So now they want β now people are looking at Ben Johnson.
00:23:47I get the β at the end of the day, I think people are like, hey, we've never
00:23:51had a real coaching search in 25 years.
00:23:53This is the hotshot offensive coordinator.
00:23:55We haven't had an offensive coach in forever.
00:23:57We finally β I feel like we have the heir to Brady in a lot of ways of the
00:24:01franchise quarterback we could really compete with.
00:24:04Why not get the hotshot offensive β I get all of that.
00:24:08And I think in a lot of ways, Ben might be successful with the Patriots if he's
00:24:11going to be successful anywhere because he would have the quarterback to do so.
00:24:16I have my reservations about Ben Johnson.
00:24:18I continue to come back to this.
00:24:20I think it's very weird that for the third year in a row, or really fourth year,
00:24:25but third year in a row, it almost felt like looking for a reason to not take
00:24:30those jobs.
00:24:31He almost got on the flight, but then didn't.
00:24:33Then the next year, it's like he almost gets on the flight, then he doesn't.
00:24:36Then now it's like he needs the perfect organization.
00:24:39I understand.
00:24:40Like he's the highest paid offensive coordinator, one of them in the league.
00:24:43He's in a great situation.
00:24:45All that's fair.
00:24:47His mentor is Adam Gase.
00:24:49And there's just 10% of me that's like, is he just maybe an awesome offensive
00:24:55coordinator and like not the best leader of men and stuff?
00:24:59Variable is kind of the direct opposite.
00:25:00I think he's good with scheme, but I think a priority is culture.
00:25:06I think the Patriots have a culture problem right now.
00:25:08I think that very similar to the reason I wanted him for the Jets was because I
00:25:11think both teams are kind of in that like we spiraled and we probably hired the
00:25:17wrong guy last time.
00:25:18We need to reel it in quickly.
00:25:22Mike, I guess my one question for you would be a lot of talk is Josh McDaniels
00:25:28now if people are kind of transitioning your colleague, Greg Bedard, you know,
00:25:31with BSJ is kind of talking about Josh McDaniels and feels like is Robert
00:25:36Kraft going to give variable to 15 to 18 million.
00:25:40It seems like it's going to require to get them.
00:25:42And then the 4 million or so to Josh McDaniels and the 3 million to Shane.
00:25:46But like, is Robert Kraft up for that?
00:25:48I guess is my question for you.
00:25:51Well, when you have the McDaniel situation,
00:25:53considering he's being paid still about 40,
00:25:55he's got about $40 million left on his Raiders contract,
00:25:58the Patriots do love to get guys that already have contracts with someone else
00:26:01so you can offset money.
00:26:03Yeah.
00:26:04You know, I don't know what the actual language is,
00:26:05but I would assume that he's not going to cost them 4 million,
00:26:08that that's going to be a little bit cheaper than that.
00:26:11Obviously he's he McDaniel still lives here.
00:26:14He lives close to the stadium.
00:26:15Hasn't left.
00:26:17It's just an easy transition.
00:26:19I did.
00:26:20And I wrote this on Thursday in the Boston Sports Journal is.
00:26:25One source said they should, you know,
00:26:28like Drake may is not making the decisions.
00:26:30Although I don't think Drake is.
00:26:32In fact,
00:26:33I know Drake's not all that pleased that Alex van Pelt got treated the way he
00:26:36did in this.
00:26:37He still hasn't been fired, but we all assume he's fired.
00:26:41That Josh can be abrasive.
00:26:43And that's not what Alex is.
00:26:45Alex is not abrasive.
00:26:46And I mean,
00:26:47you talk to anyone who's ever played with Alex or your coach with Alex,
00:26:51and they'll tell you that.
00:26:52And Josh can get on you and Josh will grind you to a nub.
00:26:56And then some, I mean, we've seen in his head coaching jobs,
00:26:58but talk to the guys that worked here, you know,
00:27:01and played for him here.
00:27:02He is.
00:27:03You're in the building for a long time.
00:27:05And I don't know.
00:27:07I don't say that as a bad thing.
00:27:08I just say it's different.
00:27:10This isn't 2008 anymore.
00:27:12We've got a different kind of athlete.
00:27:13It's a different kind of way of doing things.
00:27:15And has he adapted enough?
00:27:17He did obviously did a,
00:27:18he did a relatively nice job with Mac Jones who hasn't been the same
00:27:22player since Josh walked out the door between the Patricia judge,
00:27:26Bill O'Brien.
00:27:27And now obviously what we've seen in Jacksonville,
00:27:29but that's an interesting one to me.
00:27:30Bowen is another name.
00:27:32You mentioned Jane Bowen currently the defensive coordinator with
00:27:34giants.
00:27:35We're a little bit surprised that day ball kept his job.
00:27:37The defense wasn't very good.
00:27:40John Mara ripped the defense in his press conference said like,
00:27:43I'm sorry to watching teams go up and down the field on us.
00:27:46Does that mean Shane Bowen is going to be the one who becomes the fall
00:27:49guy there?
00:27:50And if that's the case again, that'd be offset language.
00:27:53So if you were to hire him as he was rebels DC for, well,
00:27:57for three years officially, but.
00:27:59Technically he was the defensive coordinator for four years.
00:28:01He just didn't have the title.
00:28:03So there are things lining up and shaping up for him.
00:28:07And one last thing on this whole search.
00:28:10And I referenced it in my story on Tuesday.
00:28:14The push and pull between this previous coaching staff and the front
00:28:18office and the front office,
00:28:19laying blame at the feet of the coaches saying we gave you better
00:28:22players.
00:28:23You didn't develop these players, especially the young players.
00:28:26A lot of pushback this week.
00:28:28Not just from that side of it in the story I did,
00:28:30but then later in the week when other people did the same story was more
00:28:34of that line of thinking like, well,
00:28:36Jalen Polk was plug and play what like that's not Jalen.
00:28:38That was them.
00:28:39You know?
00:28:40Oh, we,
00:28:41we think Caden Wallace is going to be a really good tackle in this
00:28:43league.
00:28:44That was them.
00:28:45So you have a lot of that right now.
00:28:48And I would just say, and again,
00:28:51my belief is that Mike's going to have his own people when all said and
00:28:54done.
00:28:55But if they're trying to force that down Mike's throat,
00:28:58and if that is a potential sticking point,
00:29:00that should be a potential sticking point.
00:29:01If I'm Mike Frabel,
00:29:02I'm not taking Elliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith without my guys being in
00:29:07the building or at all.
00:29:09So just something to consider as we,
00:29:12again,
00:29:13we're taping it's Friday,
00:29:14it's 11 o'clock.
00:29:15They're still doing their interview with Ben Johnson at this moment.
00:29:17But if you start to hear maybe some potential reservations or you're
00:29:22wondering why isn't this done yet,
00:29:24or the way you start to get some national people saying this,
00:29:27that,
00:29:28and the other thing about,
00:29:29well,
00:29:30don't pump the brakes on,
00:29:31on Vrabel.
00:29:32That could be one of the reasons why the brakes might get pumped.
00:29:35And again,
00:29:36I still expect it to get done.
00:29:37I would just,
00:29:38just keep it in mind,
00:29:39keep that in the back of your head.
00:29:41If things end up falling apart,
00:29:43because I think there's definitely,
00:29:44especially based on Vrabel's last stop and how it went sideways in his
00:29:48last stop between ownership and the general managers,
00:29:51because John Robinson at the end and Vrabel sort of separated as well.
00:29:55That's something to keep an eye on.
00:29:57We talk about prize picks.
00:30:00Prize picks.
00:30:01Let's talk about game time because we've got playoff football.
00:30:04We're full fledged in the NBA NHL seasons as well.
00:30:08You want tickets,
00:30:10use game time.
00:30:11It's,
00:30:12it's,
00:30:13it's simple.
00:30:14It's easy to filter out all the fluff to show you incredible deals on
00:30:16great seats.
00:30:17You don't have to waste time searching through thousands of tickets to
00:30:19find the best value.
00:30:20They have the full cashback guarantee.
00:30:24Like if you find a better price elsewhere,
00:30:27they'll meet it 110%.
00:30:29In fact,
00:30:30download the app today,
00:30:31use the code CLNS to get $50 off instantly.
00:30:33That's not the right ad.
00:30:35That is the,
00:30:36I just,
00:30:37I just did the combo platter game time.

00:31:02They are the best.
00:31:03Even if I am the worst,
00:31:05let's get to the games.
00:31:07I don't love this game at all.
00:31:09This is going to kick off the slate on Saturday,
00:31:11four 30 kickoff chargers at the Texans LA one,
00:31:15their final three games.
00:31:16Will the Texans one in two over their last three,
00:31:19including a 31 to two home loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
00:31:23When the entire world was watching.
00:31:25I just don't.
00:31:26Texas were a great story last year.
00:31:28We,
00:31:29we have talked a lot about their flaws,
00:31:31especially offensively this season.
00:31:33Now you don't have tank Dell.
00:31:35You haven't had Stephon digs for a good portion of the year.
00:31:37I just don't think they have enough horses offensively to beat what is a
00:31:41very well coached,
00:31:42very disciplined charger football team.
00:31:44Yeah.
00:31:45I'll keep this one short and sweet.
00:31:46A couple of things,
00:31:47you know,
00:31:48I think I don't know if we nailed it exactly.
00:31:51I have to go back and listen,
00:31:52but I'm pretty sure we thought the Texans were going to win 10 games and
00:31:55win the division and the charges win 10 or 11 and do a playoff team.
00:31:58I think I had them as the five or the 16th.
00:32:00So I feel good about how that ended.
00:32:03I think the Jesse mentor versus Bobby slow.
00:32:06It can match up is going to determine this football game.
00:32:09Can the Texans protect CJ Stroud?
00:32:12Can Stroud avoid some of these critical mistakes if they can,
00:32:16and they can run the football with Joe Mixon.
00:32:18I think it's a,
00:32:19this will be a good football game.
00:32:20This feels to me very much like chargers,
00:32:23comfortable 24,
00:32:2413 win or the Texans eke it out.
00:32:28And we're like,
00:32:29well,
00:32:30like did we misread them?
00:32:31Oh my God.
00:32:32You know,
00:32:33did they get on track last week against the bad Texans team?
00:32:35They got their mojo back.
00:32:36This is the team we saw.
00:32:37And we thought we were going to see going into the year.
00:32:39This doesn't feel like the chargers went close.
00:32:41This feels like either it's a comfortable,
00:32:43not a blowout,
00:32:44but like,
00:32:45never really in doubt type of game where Herbert's good.
00:32:48And this is a big game for Herbert.
00:32:50I'm,
00:32:51I think he's a top five quarterback in the league.
00:32:53I think he deserves all the praise,
00:32:56but at some point you do want to see him win a playoff game.
00:32:59And I feel like this is a great spot.
00:33:01You want to play off game,
00:33:02potentially be going to Arrowhead next week and they've played well there.
00:33:06And Hey,
00:33:07could you keep it close?
00:33:08So,
00:33:09um,
00:33:10I don't think it's as big of a deal.
00:33:12So,
00:33:13um,
00:33:14I don't think it's as big for Stroud.
00:33:15He got the playoff,
00:33:16you know,
00:33:17he had the big win last year,
00:33:18you know,
00:33:19against Cleveland.
00:33:20And obviously in hindsight,
00:33:21was that win that great?
00:33:22Probably not,
00:33:23but it doesn't matter.
00:33:24You know,
00:33:25Trevor Lawrence had the playoff win over Herbert.
00:33:26And like now it's like,
00:33:27we don't give him as much of a hard time.
00:33:28So,
00:33:29uh,
00:33:30this feels like chargers comfortable win or Texans close win.
00:33:32I'm,
00:33:33I would heavily lean chargers comfortable win just because I think D'Amico is
00:33:37a nice coach and I liked D'Amico,
00:33:39but I think defensively.
00:33:42Bobby's folks had a really rough year.
00:33:44I,
00:33:45you know,
00:33:46I know he's been requested for some jobs and,
00:33:47and whatever.
00:33:48I don't know that if this doesn't go South,
00:33:51he has a job with the Texans next year.
00:33:53This feels like a,
00:33:54you better not,
00:33:55you know,
00:33:56he hasn't evolved this year.
00:33:58He just hasn't,
00:33:59hasn't evolved.
00:34:00He,
00:34:01I don't,
00:34:02quite frankly,
00:34:03he stopped.
00:34:04Yeah.
00:34:05He stopped evolving the late last year.
00:34:06And that's when we did the off season pods.
00:34:08We're talking,
00:34:09I'm like,
00:34:10I don't,
00:34:11he didn't show me.
00:34:12Yeah.
00:34:13It's like,
00:34:14you do.
00:34:15It's like hard to,
00:34:16it's hard to like,
00:34:17there,
00:34:18there wasn't like that.
00:34:19You didn't get this feeling of like they do anything.
00:34:21That's like,
00:34:22once a league figured out how he called games,
00:34:25how he schemed it,
00:34:26they solved them.
00:34:27And he hasn't had a counter punch for that.
00:34:30And if you don't have a counter punch,
00:34:32this is what happens.
00:34:33There is two things I wanted to quickly mention.
00:34:36You talked about Herbert 23 TDs this year,
00:34:39three interceptions.
00:34:40And yet when you watch him,
00:34:42it's not like he's Mr.
00:34:43Safe,
00:34:44check down guy.
00:34:45He's,
00:34:46he's pushed the ball downfield.
00:34:47I think it was an elite year for him,
00:34:49regular season wise,
00:34:50despite really truly only having one good receiver.
00:34:54And that's Ladd McConkie.
00:34:55They're the,
00:34:56they're the Tyler Warden team though.
00:34:58Would make a lot of sense.
00:35:00And we know how we know how Harbaugh feels about his tight ends.
00:35:03And the other thing,
00:35:04just an awesome matchup up front.
00:35:06If you're into line play,
00:35:07Rashawn Slater,
00:35:08Joel versus Daniel Hunter and Will Anderson on the outside,
00:35:12that that's going to be a lot of fun.
00:35:14If you think it hit the quarterback and Houston can run the football,
00:35:17the Wizards game,
00:35:18if they can't do,
00:35:19if they can only do one of the two,
00:35:20they're not,
00:35:21they're just,
00:35:22they're not going to win.
00:35:23Turn them over.
00:35:24A couple other things quickly.
00:35:25Both JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards dealing with ankle injuries.
00:35:28Both were limited in practice on Wednesday,
00:35:30Thursday.
00:35:31So just something to keep in mind for a Saturday game.
00:35:34Let's go to the nightcap.
00:35:36This game is going to be glorious in its ugliness.
00:35:40I think Steelers at the Ravens for the third time.
00:35:44I mean,
00:35:45not a great matchup.
00:35:46Did you see the Russell Wilson video?
00:35:48I know I try to avoid Russ at all costs.
00:35:51Russ,
00:35:52Cam Hayward's coming off the field.
00:35:53I'll do my best Russ impersonation.
00:35:55Cam Hayward's coming off the field and typical Russell Wilson fashion.
00:36:00Of course,
00:36:01he's mic'd up for hard knocks.
00:36:02He's like,
00:36:03come here,
00:36:04we're going to win four in a row.
00:36:05Ignore that.
00:36:06We're going to win four in a row.
00:36:07Look at me,
00:36:08look at me.
00:36:09And Cam Hayward just like,
00:36:10dude,
00:36:11I will choke slam you through a table so fast.
00:36:13We've lost four in a row.
00:36:16And you just literally choked away this game.
00:36:20If you tell me to look at you one more time,
00:36:22I will break your jaw.
00:36:24It was,
00:36:25I will send it to you after this pot.
00:36:27It was,
00:36:28it's tough.
00:36:29It's a tough,
00:36:30it's a tough 20 seconds.
00:36:31I need to see it for some,
00:36:32for some comedy.
00:36:33It's tough.

00:51:24It's tough.
00:51:25It's tough.
00:51:26It's tough.
00:51:27It's tough.
00:51:28It's tough.
00:51:29It's tough.
00:51:30It's tough.
00:51:31It's tough.
00:51:33Jaylin Hertz hasn't practiced.
00:51:34He's practiced once.
00:51:35And yeah, that's important.
00:51:38I know this sounds insane and probably disrespectful.
00:51:40AJ Brown has not practiced yet.
00:51:43And if AJ Brown's not even close to AJ Brown and you're Green Bay, you're like, we're
00:51:53selling out against the run, and we are going to make you actually throwing Devontae Smith
00:51:57the football 12 times.
00:51:58Is he going to do it?
00:51:59Maybe.
00:52:00but I don't, Jordan Love we've seen in big moments,
00:52:05he has played really good football
00:52:07and they're not playing great football right now,
00:52:09but I do weirdly feel like as much as they were playing
00:52:14good football last year down the stretch,
00:52:16it was more like Love was playing, I don't know.
00:52:18Green Bay's weird, I just, can't you just see like
00:52:24another team where, I talked about Baltimore
00:52:25and Pittsburgh like this and it's very different,
00:52:27but these two teams played each other earlier in the year
00:52:29and Love got hurt and like the Eagles escaped
00:52:31and Saquon beat, you know,
00:52:32single-handedly took over that game.
00:52:35But when you see a team twice like that,
00:52:38I think LeFleur's a better coach than Sirianni.
00:52:40Does he have something up his sleeve of like,
00:52:42hey, I know we didn't win, but I saw something.
00:52:45I found two or three things, a chink in their armor,
00:52:48I found something with Fangio I can take advantage of.
00:52:52There's a lot of pressure in this game
00:52:54and I just, we talked about Baltimore
00:52:56and that's more about the quarterbacks to me.
00:52:58Who can make Dermott lose his job?
00:52:59Maybe, theoretically, Harbaugh's not going anywhere.
00:53:02Again, those are, something about Philly,
00:53:06there's just, there's so much pressure
00:53:07and it'll get really loud there or really quiet early
00:53:13and I don't know, I know you probably talk yourself
00:53:16into all the underdogs in these games, it's very easy to,
00:53:18they're all playoff teams, they're all good teams.
00:53:21Green Bay, I just, they're too talented
00:53:23to go out one and done this year.
00:53:25Something about it to me is like,
00:53:27there's no way this team that we thought might win 14,
00:53:2915 games is gonna be, have survived the NFC North
00:53:34and yeah, they're the seventh seed,
00:53:35but 11 win team, like they're gonna go out like this.
00:53:38I don't know, I like Green Bay in this game.
00:53:40I can't really tell you why other than
00:53:42Jordan Love was awesome.
00:53:43This is funny because I think you're,
00:53:45you make valid arguments for it.
00:53:47I think Josh Jacobs is certainly capable
00:53:50of somewhat close to matching what Barkley does,
00:53:54such a physical, such a good runner.
00:53:56I think they've been a better team
00:53:58with him in the backfield and we'd love Darren Jones
00:54:00and all he did, but like been consistent presence for them.
00:54:03I love the physicality with which he runs.
00:54:06This was the game that I felt most confident about
00:54:10as I looked at the games.
00:54:10Then again, if I could pick games for a living,
00:54:14I wouldn't be doing this.
00:54:15I'd just be picking games and making money
00:54:16and hanging out on a beach somewhere in Bora Bora.
00:54:20But I don't know, I just looked at it and I said,
00:54:22I just don't like the vibe I'm getting from Green Bay
00:54:24at this point.
00:54:26I don't like the way Jordan is played.
00:54:29I don't really like anything about what Green Bay's doing
00:54:30other than like preconceived notion
00:54:32that they should be able to figure it out.
00:54:34I mean, cause their roster is talented.
00:54:36They're a team that can certainly punch.
00:54:37No Watson too.
00:54:38Yep.
00:54:39It's like almost everything's going against them
00:54:41that you're like.
00:54:42I love, I love Jaden Reed.
00:54:44I think Jaden Reed's been invisible for like six weeks.
00:54:47Yeah, I think nothing's going right.
00:54:49Wix has had crazy drops all season long.
00:54:51It's like, I just don't feel good
00:54:53about pretty much any aspect of their game.
00:54:56Other than maybe Josh Jacobs and their run defense.
00:54:58And I don't know, we'll see.
00:55:01This could be, even though I said,
00:55:05this could be the most entertaining game.
00:55:06I could see both these teams putting up in the high 20s
00:55:09and we just have a nice 27, 24
00:55:11come down to the wire type football game.
00:55:14I mean, I'm here for it.
00:55:15That's what I want.
00:55:15I want some competitive football games cause I'm worried.
00:55:1744, 29.
00:55:18One thing to remember in that game,
00:55:21both quarterbacks, Hertz was bad.
00:55:23I thought in that game.
00:55:25That field was a mess.
00:55:26Remember?
00:55:27The field was a mess.
00:55:28Love wasn't good either.
00:55:29And I'm just curious.
00:55:30It'll be interesting to see both quarterbacks
00:55:33turn the ball over a lot in that game.
00:55:34It felt like, I know it was only three combined picks
00:55:36but it felt like a lot.
00:55:39We'll see.
00:55:40Packers had a chance to win it there in the end
00:55:41and Love got hurt.
00:55:42Kind of changed their season a little bit.
00:55:44Does he get a little bit of revenge on Sunday?
00:55:48Last one in this game is Monday night.
00:55:51Wait, did I miss one?
00:55:53No.
00:55:54No, I got it.
00:55:55Monday night.
00:55:55Yeah, we didn't miss one.
00:55:56Washington, Tampa.
00:55:57Oh, duh.
00:55:58See, I knew it.
00:55:59And then we'll do Minnesota Rams on Monday after we-
00:56:01Yeah, good call.
00:56:02Good call.
00:56:03Got a little slap happy there.
00:56:05What did I do with my notes?
00:56:06I don't even need my notes.
00:56:08Commanders at Tampa Bay.
00:56:13You like Washington, I feel like.
00:56:16So I did.
00:56:19I talked myself out of it.
00:56:20Yeah, me too.
00:56:21All week long, I'm thinking like, this is the upset.
00:56:23This is the upset.
00:56:24First of all, I don't think either team
00:56:25can stop each other.
00:56:26So I think we're getting points galore in this game.
00:56:29I just wonder, Washington,
00:56:32and I know Jaden's been awesome this year,
00:56:33rookie quarterback, first playoff game.
00:56:36Believe it or not, the Tampa Bay environment can be tough.
00:56:39I feel like Tampa Bay is playing with some swagger
00:56:42right now, not that Washington isn't.
00:56:45I don't think Washington can run the ball on Tampa.
00:56:49So I think it's really going to fall upon Jaden Daniels
00:56:52to go in to throw for 275 and rush for 100.
00:56:56And not that he's not capable of it,
00:56:58but I just, the more I thought about it,
00:57:01I don't love either coach, Quinn or Boles.
00:57:04She's going to say, this is a,
00:57:05their coach, it's the same guy coaching against each other.
00:57:07Yeah, yeah.
00:57:08So, I mean, I don't want to say it's a strong feeling
00:57:12that Tampa's going to win.
00:57:14I wouldn't, you know, if we sit here on Monday
00:57:16and we're like, oh, well, Washington, you know,
00:57:17but Daniels took over.
00:57:18I just, the experience I think matters
00:57:21a little bit too here.
00:57:22And I'm just going to,
00:57:23I'm just going to say it's Tampa and a close one.
00:57:25I think the key to this game is,
00:57:28I don't want to say it's pretty simple,
00:57:30but if you're Tampa Bay, you have to tackle well.
00:57:33I thought they tackled well, mostly in the opener
00:57:35or as opener, right?
00:57:36Yeah, mostly in the opener.
00:57:38The only game Jaden Daniels, by the way,
00:57:40said he was nervous for.
00:57:41Told Chris Stems that the only game this year
00:57:43I felt nervous for was the opener.
00:57:46I think that if two things,
00:57:49one, if Tampa tackles well, they'll win this game.
00:57:53Just because I, a lot of, you know,
00:57:56a lot of Kingsbury stuff is being able to tackle
00:57:59his guys in space.
00:58:00And, you know, Jaden likes to get his guys out,
00:58:01you know, get the football and Jaden himself,
00:58:03if you can wrap them up and tackle them and,
00:58:05you know, hit them early on.
00:58:07Baker's got to take care of the football in this game.
00:58:11He's been really good this year.
00:58:12He's been really, really productive.
00:58:14No question about it,
00:58:16but this needs to be like a Baker, three touchdowns
00:58:20and maybe a pick game, not like four touchdowns,
00:58:22three picks, Brett Favre, you know,
00:58:24type of Jordan Love Against the Vikings,
00:58:27like week three type of game where you're like,
00:58:29yeah, you put up 28 points,
00:58:30but you turned the ball over three times
00:58:32and you gave them three possessions back.
00:58:34And we also couldn't really stop them.
00:58:35It can't be one of those.
00:58:36So I like Tampa slightly.
00:58:39Bowles likes to choke big games away,
00:58:42but so does Dan Quinn.
00:58:44It'd be really nice if commanders,
00:58:46for a story for the commanders,
00:58:47hey, we went, you know, year one of this thing,
00:58:49and we went and won a playoff game.
00:58:51I'm just, do they have a little,
00:58:54we're happy to be here vibe?
00:58:56Maybe not.
00:58:57I hope they don't,
00:58:59but it wouldn't, I wouldn't like blame them if they did,
00:59:01because it's like, hey, you know,
00:59:04we weren't even expected to be here.
00:59:05We didn't really beat very many good teams.
00:59:08I mean, they beat Atlanta at the end of the year.
00:59:11They beat Philly.
00:59:12That was cool, but they also beat Philly
00:59:13without hurts the second half.
00:59:15Tampa beats good teams,
00:59:18and they're pretty bad against bad teams.
00:59:19So I like Tampa, but I'm not,
00:59:23unfortunately with this game,
00:59:24it feels like this might be one of the only games
00:59:27on the slate.
00:59:28This and Chargers-Texans, where like next week,
00:59:33you're not really super pumped about the game they're in.
00:59:36Maybe we're wrong, but I just,
00:59:38they don't give you like,
00:59:40they don't give me, they could go on a run.
00:59:42Tampa, I felt that way a couple of weeks ago,
00:59:44but no Godwin and some of the injuries
00:59:46and last week's performance
00:59:48just gives you a bad taste in your mouth.
00:59:49Yeah, the no Godwin thing is big to me.
00:59:52And I think maybe one of the things
00:59:54that sort of had me tilting in their direction though,
00:59:56was last year and at least having
00:59:58a solid representative performance
01:00:00being tough in the postseason.
01:00:01Like, okay, now we have that sort of in our DNA
01:00:04a little bit.
01:00:05Can we carry that over this year?
01:00:07So that would be my thing.
01:00:09You mentioned we will talk Vikings and Rams on Monday
01:00:12when we reconvene for the All-32 pod.
01:00:15It is however time for prize picks.
01:00:18I have three of them for you.
01:00:21I'm gonna go less on Ladd-McConkie's receiving yard, 75.5.
01:00:26I think Ladd-McConkie,
01:00:28they've done more with Derek Stinley.
01:00:30They played a little bit more, man.
01:00:32They moved him around a little bit.
01:00:33I think D'Amico will have a plan for Ladd-McConkie.
01:00:36I don't think it will matter in the end,
01:00:38but I think he will be less than 75.5.
01:00:41Mark Andrews has been a touchdown scoring machine lately.
01:00:44So I'm gonna take the more than a half a touchdown
01:00:47for Mark Andrews in this game.
01:00:49And I will also say,
01:00:51because I think now you're into that mode
01:00:53where it's like win, go on, lose, go home.
01:00:56I think a lot of these quarterbacks
01:00:59start looking at their rushing numbers.
01:01:00The guys that are mobile and explosive
01:01:02and I will take Lamar Jackson
01:01:04more than 50 and a half yards rushing.
01:01:08Ooh, interesting.
01:01:09All right, well, I don't know.
01:01:11I've gone back and forth here because
01:01:16I would know CJ Stroud less than 235 passing yards.
01:01:21I feel like this could be a 19 for 32, 210
01:01:26type of game for him.
01:01:27Two picks.
01:01:29A touchdown or two and a couple of picks.
01:01:31And you're like, you just go in the off season,
01:01:33you're like, ugh, that wiped the season away.
01:01:37I guess I hinted at it.
01:01:39Jordan Love, more passing yards, more than 220.
01:01:42I know Philly's defense is really good,
01:01:45but Love's still there for 260
01:01:46and a pretty bad Jordan Love game week one.
01:01:50So that one to me is like, I don't know,
01:01:53220 doesn't feel like overly ambitious.
01:01:58I'll give you a random one here.
01:02:01Pat Firemuth, more than 43 and a half receiving yards.
01:02:05If they have any shot of winning this game,
01:02:07Firemuth and Pickens have to be top of their game,
01:02:11which God knows what that even means.
01:02:14But again, 43 and a half feels about,
01:02:19could he be five for 60 in a touchdown in this game
01:02:21where you're like, oh, this dealer's kept it close.
01:02:23Firemuth had one, Najee got one down by the goal line.
01:02:26We kicked two field goals and all of a sudden
01:02:28it's 20 to 20, 23 to 20, two minutes to go.
01:02:31That's really their only path to victory.
01:02:33So Firemuth more, Jordan Love more,
01:02:36and our boy CJ Shredd less.
01:02:38I sound like such a hater of CJ Shredd.
01:02:40I really am not.
01:02:40No, you're such a, you absolutely can't stand him.
01:02:42No, it's just.
