00:10That is why this is the Early Commission on Elections, or COMELEC, is already busy attending
00:16to various petitions and requests that will affect the available choices of voters come

00:27Now that the COMELEC has revealed some of the names of the aspirants for the 2025 national

00:38And one of these is from KOJC leader Apollo Quibuloy, who is now asking for the COMELEC
00:43to let him run for senator as an independent candidate.
00:47Based on the letters submitted by Quibuloy's camp, this to resolve the intra-party issue
00:52of the Workers and Peasants Party which first endorsed Quibuloy when he filed his COC.
01:08The party also filed a cancellation of Quibuloy's CONA last week, insisting his CONA was signed
01:13by an unauthorized representative, but Quibuloy said he will still support the party regardless
01:19of his choice to run as independent.
01:45For the Commission on Elections, there will be no effect for the aspiring senator's candidacy.
01:50Independent or not, he was already included in the list of qualified senatorial aspirants.
02:11Aside from Quibuloy, there was also a petitioner who filed for disqualification against the
02:16candidacy of former President Rodrigo Duterte, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Governor Matthew
02:22Marcos from Manotoc, Ilocos Norte, Senator Cynthia Villar, and Vice Governor Peter Cua

03:02Another who submitted an appeal to COMELEC was a group of senatorial aspirants who were
03:07not included on the initial list of those qualified to run for the 2025 polls.
03:12One of them is the former lawyer and also a nominee of a party list.
03:17He believes he should not be declared nuisance candidate and COMELEC should revisit and scrutinize
03:22their qualifications.
03:44The COMELEC admits their office has been receiving several petitions and appeals.
03:48As a matter of fact, some 246 have been received by their latest count.
03:53The COMELEC assures the public to resolve the petitions before November ends.
03:58Meanwhile, the COMELEC is also preparing for the polls and campaign period.
04:02Today, they signed a partnership deal with social media technology companies such as
04:07Meta, Google, and Bytendents, which handle TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube, and other social
04:14media sites.
