00:03:56we got away with it. They, they kept making some of the same mistakes. They improved in some areas,
00:04:03uh, but you take it when you get it. And it's like, yeah. And over time we went against Toronto
00:04:09off of with Brad Marshan's first goal of the year. Yeah. That's fine. At the end of the day,
00:04:15very, very, very happy with the results and the contents of this game.
00:04:22I didn't necessarily expect them to come out and just pipe down Toronto either. Like it was always
00:04:29on the table because that's just who they are. Like they, they just absolutely love to make a
00:04:34mockery out of the Toronto Maple leafs. And that would have been cool and whatever care way more
00:04:40about just getting back to looking like a professional hockey team, which they did.
00:04:46Like it looked like they had like an organized break in. They had like a four check. Uh,
00:04:54that was maybe the most stunning part of this game to me is that they just looked like they
00:04:57had a game plan that they were executing. And that's, it is strong hockey, strong hockey,
00:05:03winning battles, Rob winning battles for the park. Rob on one of the power plays, they look good.
00:05:11Not so much the others, but they capitalized on it. So, Hey, we'll call it progress. There was
00:05:16progress being made in this game. They had generally moving in the correct direction.
00:05:21Like they didn't solve all their issues within this what 62 ish minutes. That's fine. Like it's,
00:05:29we're playing the flyers next and they are just not a good hockey team right now. So
00:05:36this is a great chapter. We've talked, I talked about the chapter thing last episode,
00:05:40breaking this season down into chunks and just looking at like, okay, if they can get through
00:05:44this chunk with this many points, this chunk with this many points is a great way to start off.
00:05:48Or we'll actually close out the first one really is. I think the consensus we came to, we said,
00:05:52we're going to make a graphic. We didn't make a graphic. We'll make a graphic, but we haven't
00:05:56made the graphic yet. You keep saying we, it was mostly you. I was like, yeah, this sounds good.

00:07:50sitting next to at the game was a man. Like clearly he's a coach of some sort in the whole
00:07:55game. He's like, you can't break out through the middle right there. You can't do it. There's too
00:07:59much pressure coming on you. Like, and I was just like, yes, sir. You got it. And at one point they,
00:08:05I think, uh, coil got flagged for a penalty and I was like, you can't do that. He's the
00:08:09mayor of Weymouth. And he was like, you should get two penalties for that. And I was like, yeah,
00:08:13yeah. That's how watching the game with pops is a lot of the time.
00:08:20Oh, I, I would love to experience that. Yeah. It's like, well, you see what happened there,
00:08:24right? Yes. Yes, dad. Yes. You know what? It's wrong, right? Yes. And then they explained it
00:08:31anyways, as if you didn't just say, you understand it's pointless. It's like
00:08:34rhetorical question to get you going. It's like what I went to Regina's with my dad

00:09:32confidence. The fourth line played about 18 minutes this game. It really, really felt like
00:09:39every time there was a line change or play resuming, it was the fourth line out there
00:09:46or even the third line. My buddy and I, we were laughing. We're like the fourth line again.
00:09:52Like, wow, he's really not trusting the top six in the latter half of this game.
00:09:57Uh, and then I was completely wrong. I mean,
00:10:00kept getting less than 10 minutes on it is stunning to me. That was very surprising.

00:10:08I think it's also, I think it's just that they have proved themselves so much that they just
00:10:14demand our attention. So you notice they're out there and your ears perk up a little bit,
00:10:18but that's why it feels like they're always out there.
00:10:20It's like how I didn't notice geeky played in almost 10 minutes, which is pretty short
00:10:25for Morgan geeky. But did you see what Montgomery's comment was about him today?

00:21:26Swayman because when he lived with the stick and the puck stayed, Swayman like was tracking the
00:21:31movement. So he kept going, but the puck stopped moving and he's just like popped it in like
00:21:37against the grain on Swayman. So it looks like it couldn't have been a better play for them.
00:21:42But it's like, are you mad that Matthew Potter stick lifted off of Matthews? Awesome. Matthews,

00:23:29Love it. I mean, very well documented how much he loves beating Toronto. It's another good excuse to
00:23:35bring up the not today, Justin. Um, but just, uh, classic brew. That's what a bruise power play
00:23:43goal looks like to me. It's like moving around, get it to Boston, like one time or bank back then
00:23:46that there you go. One, one, uh, Riley's goal. This is all Mitch Marner. Mitch Marner was a
00:23:55force this game, not one of the three stars for some reason. Uh, Matthews was number two,
00:24:00Marner assisted on all three Toronto goals. And this one was some incredible skating from him,
00:24:06uh, to get some distance from Patra and just sauce it up to Riley who in motion
00:24:13drops to a knee and takes a shot. Uh, just a pretty goal. Not that there's, you know, it is,
00:24:20that's it. I don't even want to, but no, it just is. That was a good goal. And you move on to one
00:24:27Toronto and then not too long after that, uh, they shuffle up the lines a bit and you get,
00:24:35uh, Trent Frederick, Matt Patra, and Justin Brazzo. And I don't, I don't know if you
00:24:41experienced this as well, but when I'm at the game, I have a much, much easier time keeping
00:24:47track of like who is on the ice and like what the lines are. I'm way more vigilant about it.
00:24:52Every time there's a line change, I say the exact opposite way. No, I say out loud to myself,
00:24:58like who is coming on to the ice. And I was like, Oh, okay. That's so immediately you see
00:25:02Freddie Patra or Brad's like, that's new. That's not what we've been doing this game. That was not
00:25:06the line. Yeah. Um, immediately they score. And this is the goal that I think you said it was
00:25:11like, that's a hockey goal. Yeah. It's a coaching goal, like state, like staying high in the slot,
00:25:18covering up, like staying high to, to cover in the four check and collapse on opportunities.
00:25:26Like the one that Braz did, like it's hockey school would take this, this clip and, and,
00:25:33and go nuts with it. Yeah. I like, I mean, notice Patra a lot, this game, including here,
00:25:39like the puck bounces away from Toronto and he just protects it with his whole body. He like
00:25:44puts his body between the puck and the Toronto player, but like waits for it to move a little
00:25:48bit more towards the net before putting it on. And then just gets a good enough balance where
00:25:53it ends up. I think Friday gets a go at it. And then Brazzo puts it under the bar in and out.
00:25:58And I'll tell you, this was on my end of the ice. Cause I was at the end, I was like basically

00:26:53from Beecher here is getting all of the love that it deserves. And that makes me very happy,
00:26:58right? This, the, in the corner backhand blind pass into the front to cast like tape to
00:27:05tape, tape to tape, nothing still. I was going to doubt about it. Nothing. Oh, that feels so good.
00:27:12What's so smart about that play is that Beecher realizes that on the two on two that like this,
00:27:20this play generated from the left D I don't know. I don't know who was on the ice for, for Toronto
00:27:27overcommitted across to their right side of the ice. And then they didn't switch like both
00:27:36defensemen. Like I'm sure Beecher knew both men are on me right now. And one goes to very slowly
00:27:44get back out in front. But I think Beecher's thinking there is like, fuck it. I'm going to
00:27:51go for this on the off chance. I hit them tape to tape because Castellic's out there alone and
00:27:57they don't seem to be in a rush to get back out there and cover them. Cause I don't think they're
00:28:01expecting me to just whip it back in. No look sauce from the corner and just a flawless execution,
00:28:08but also Castellic to stand there and be there and be a presence in front of the net. Even when
00:28:13the puck's in the corner and be like, trust his guys that if they know I'm here, they're going
00:28:18to get me the puck. So I love this line so much is just how in a hurry they get the puck down low
00:28:25and how would they get it on net? Like they play like there's 15 seconds left on the clock
00:28:31every shift and it keeps working. It does. Castellic totally alone there. Like they're
00:28:38not even, no one on those five guys aren't even looking at Castellic until that puck hits them.

00:36:09as you can like that's where we're at in the game but he didn't he just let it go and re-watching it
00:36:14brick said the same thing i was like me and brick we're in the same guy same guy i can do a job it's
00:36:18fine uh and then him not doing that ended up leading towards the matthews goal but also steve
00:36:25dangle point out it's like you know how bad the ruins are and then he like took a screenshot
00:36:29of austin matthews being the only one below the circles and being like do you see who this is by
00:36:35himself it's austin matthews uh yeah so it's i mean it's it's insane because like
00:36:42even i guess looking at him no one's looking at him chuck realizes when he's in the fucking crease
00:36:48and is like oh i should do something about that but there is certainly a moment that you can grab
00:36:53from this where the bruins are just playing defense as if austin matthews is not behind them

00:37:46but they're the kind of saves that when you look at you're like that's so easily could have gone
00:37:49five oh that's so easily could have gone in but it didn't it's not like the desperation save it's
00:37:55just the aggressive at the right time right position and just he's such a good goaltender
00:38:00and i the other side of me so i had the old coach on one side and the other side
00:38:05was a big old dummy uh after the matthews goal again all alone austin matthews tipping it in
00:38:14uh the guy next to me goes great eight more years of this 8.25 million just fucking great
00:38:24and i mean i like i looked past my buddy and i looked at him and i looked at my friend i'm like
00:38:29oh he's just dumb like that's a dumb thing to say that's a dumb thing to say for a lot of reasons

00:38:41austin matthews was all alone the second best player from arizona in this game world in this

00:42:29other so buffalo toronto detroit montreal and boston are all four four and one that's crazy
00:42:38actually and then ottawa is four four now so they have a chance if ottawa plays monday night

00:48:30picture of them uh definitely at a hospital and they're they also you know that was not relevant
00:48:35though that was this their hospital trip where they dress up they also had their own and they
00:48:41dressed up for the haunted they dress up a bunch they didn't dress up for the haunted house you
00:48:44think they dressed up as scary people for the haunted house i don't know that doesn't make
00:48:48a sense actually no they didn't they they were working on a house oddly you don't even need to
