00:00Hello, good morning. The first day of November brings something a little colder into the
00:05far north of the UK as wet and windy weather sinks south across central Scotland. The winds
00:12change direction, northerly winds bring a chill in the air first thing and a few showers
00:17but otherwise brighter skies actually compared to the last few days. Meanwhile, we've got
00:21this rain pushing south into central Scotland, later it will move into Fife, Edinburgh, the
00:27Lothians as a diminishing area of light and patchy drizzle. Some drizzly showers for Northern
00:34Ireland, North West England, North Wales as well, a lot of cloud elsewhere. Some mist
00:38patches in the south first thing, they tend to lift. 13 or 14 Celsius, not quite as mild
00:43as recent days but still a lot of cloud and light winds in the south so not a particularly
00:50chilly one. Now, in the far north, we'll keep that chilly air going into Friday night
00:56and Saturday. In fact, it sinks a bit further south and on the whole, it's a colder night
01:00compared with recent nights, temperatures in many places dipping into the single figures,
01:05low single figures in the far north and northeast. But the front that I mentioned that's sinking
01:11south, well that pivots and so it's going to bring a lot of cloud across Scotland first
01:14thing Saturday, eastern England as well and some light showers here. It then starts to
01:20move north again so returning the rain to Shetland and Orkney before eventually clearing
01:25and bringing milder air across much of the UK. So by Saturday afternoon, it's grey skies
01:30for most, a few drizzly showers in the northeast and the east as well as the south but many
01:36places staying relatively settled and high pressure remains in charge for the start of
01:42next week. With that high sitting to the east, we're going to have a southerly airflow. That
01:46means it's going to stay mild but also means we might see some cloud breaks more extensively
01:51across southern parts of the UK for the start of next week.
