The afternoon is grey across most of the country, with the cloud being thick enough to produce some brief spells of drizzle in Wales and Northern Ireland. Meanwhile some sunny skies will be present in northern Scotland and in parts of the southeast of England. The cloud persists into the evening and there may be some rain in places in southwest Scotland - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 05/11/24. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Alex Deakin.

00:00Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. Rather misty and murky again
00:04today. But a few more places breaking the cloud and seeing a little bit more
00:08sunshine here and there. But overall grey is the colour but dry is also the main
00:12theme. The radar picking up a little bit of patchy rain across eastern Scotland
00:16earlier and some rain just trickling northwards could get into Northern
00:19Ireland this afternoon. So we may see a little bit of light rain and drizzle
00:23here. But for most places it is dry. Most places are also cloudy. But a few breaks
00:27in the cloud over Wales, parts of eastern England and especially northern
00:31Scotland. Some good spirals of sunshine likely here. The cloud thick enough at
00:35times over the hills of Wales and southwest England to see maybe a little
00:38bit of light rain and drizzle. But as I said most places dry. In the west
00:42temperatures 15 maybe 16 Celsius with a bit of sunshine. Further east 12, 13 close
00:48to average for the time of year. But feeling pleasant enough for Windsor
00:51Light and particularly if we do see some sunshine as we will across northern
00:55Scotland. As we go through the evening and overnight it's not a great deal of
00:58change. Maybe some of that light rain and drizzle just working into southwest
01:01Scotland. So maybe a bit damp here. But for most places it's dry if you are
01:05heading out to a firework display and even at 7, 8 o'clock this evening
01:10temperatures for most in double digits. We'll see the temperatures dropping a
01:14little with the clearest skies over northeast Scotland. But in northwest
01:17Scotland cloud thickening. Some more rain and drizzle working in here and the
01:20winds also picking up a touch. But for most the winds stay light which means in
01:24eastern England in particular where we have clear skies could see some fog
01:28patches forming through the early hours and for first thing on Wednesday morning.
01:32Here temperatures likely to dip into single digits but for many certainly in
01:36the west will stay in double figures through the night. So another pretty mild
01:39night and another pretty grey day to come on Wednesday. Again most places will
01:45be dry. Some rain across northwest Scotland initially that should edge away.
01:48May see some rain and drizzle over parts of southern Scotland particularly the
01:52southern uplands. But we may also see a few more breaks developing in the cloud
01:56over northern England, north Wales and again northern Scotland favoured for a
02:00bit of blue sky. But otherwise grey will again be the predominant colour. Misty
02:05murky conditions persisting into the afternoon in some spots also particularly
02:09over hills. Temperatures though a little bit higher tomorrow above average even
02:14where it stays cloudy 13, 14 with a bit of brightness we could easily get up to
02:1815, 16 degrees Celsius. So again pretty mild on Wednesday evening and staying
02:23mild overnight as we head into Thursday morning. And again most places staying
02:27dry just the breeze starting to pick up a little more in western areas during
02:31Wednesday and into Thursday. That's all for now but you can get much more on
