Everton’s forward line has struggled significantly across the last few Premier League campaigns. Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks a shadow of his former self, not notching double figures since 2021.
What does the manager have to change to get the forwards firing once again?

00:00Looking at Everton, we've spoken about the conundrum that Sean Dyche faced in terms of
00:09the attacking department. What could he do to change it? There seems to be a bit of lack
00:14of potency up front, whether it's Calot-Lew in Beto, obviously McNeil's had a few good
00:19games so far, but what needs to change to unlock that going forward and scoring more
00:25goals?
00:27Yeah, it was pretty toothless. 0-0 draw going to West Ham. Not too many
00:34guilt-edged chances. They did have a couple of chances at Southampton the week before,
00:39but are Everton consistently carving out enough goalscoring opportunities to win games,
00:47especially when you think back to that Fulham one as well before it? Probably not, and as you say,
00:51supporters do want to see a bit of a change. I think the one that they're calling for is
00:58moving Ilhan Mendy into the No. 10 role. He's been really good since he arrived from Marseille
01:05in the summer, mainly played out on the left wing. Supporters want to see him playing off
01:11the striker. I asked Sean Dyche about it last week at his press conference, and he suggested
01:17to play a No. 10 role. It's not just about roaming free in the opposition half. He needs
01:24to do the defensive duties as well, and maybe Dye hasn't got that trust from Dyche yet in terms of
01:32on the back foot. I mean, there's an argument to make that if you play him in the No. 10,
01:37then you'd be more on the front foot. Nathan Paterson in on the right-hand side,
01:41maybe move Ashley Young to the left because Vitaly Mikhalenko is a good defensive fullback,
01:48but he doesn't offer you an awful lot going forward. Ultimately, Sean Dyche has been without
01:55two strikers since the start of the season. Yousef Chimiti, who has a good pre-season, to be fair to
02:01him. He had foot surgery just before the campaign started, and then Armando Brogia was brought in,
02:07and he hasn't played a game so far. Just because he arrived with an Achilles issue,
02:14he's back in training at the minute. Everton are going to start stepping things up, I think,
02:18in the international break, but it'll be a few weeks in the under-21s, you're thinking. He's
02:25probably played twice at a minimum there, so Everton are going to be waiting for him to get fit.
02:32And I think, to be honest, if you're Dominic Calvert-Lewin, you may be looking and thinking,
02:36I haven't had any supply line here whatsoever. He's missed a couple of chances this season,
02:41one-on-ones, but in recent weeks they haven't really been giving him the service. So how
02:46does Everton improve the service for the strikers? So definitely a lot of things to think about for
02:51Sean Dyche, because he did say after West Ham that Everton are lacking a little bit of development.
02:56Well, ultimately, it's up to the managers to remedy that.
