00:19Haiti's new government, headed by businessman Alex Didier Fils-Aimé, was officially sworn
00:24in after a week of escalating violence in the capital.
00:31In the Philippines, more than 650,000 people were evacuated after super-strike full-man-G
00:36made landfall on Saturday night.
00:44Hello welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Teresa Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:49We begin with the news.
01:07The Palestinian government denounced a growing environmental and health crisis in Gaza due
01:12to the ongoing Israeli blockade.
01:13Authorities said Israel's refusal to allow gas into the occupied territory forced many
01:18families to use tree branches for cooking and heating.
01:22According to data, this situation seriously affected the vegetation cover, which represents
01:27the lungs of the city and a source for improving air quality, causing high pollution rates,
01:34aggravating health risks, especially for children and the elderly, exposing them to serious
01:39airborne diseases.
01:40Authorities call on the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene
01:45urgently to mitigate the environmental and health damage.
01:54Also in Gaza, Israeli forces killed at least 70 Palestinians early this November 17th in
01:59a new attack against Rafah and Burei refugee camp.
02:02Dozens of Palestinians were killed or injured following an Israeli airstrike on a residential
02:06building in the besieged town of Beit Lahaya, which, according to local sources, shot through
02:1170 displaced people.
02:13Initial reports suggest that the airstrike carried out by Israeli fighter jets caused
02:16extensive damage to the building, which collapsed causing a significant number of casualties
02:21among innocent civilians, including children and women.
02:25The precise number of casualties is still unknown as rescue teams are unable to reach
02:29the area of the attack due to the extensive destruction and continued Israeli airstrikes.
02:38And in Europe, several countries united in a massive demonstration to denounce the Israeli
02:43genocide against citizens of the Gaza Strip.
02:46According to various media reports, thousands of people participated in rallies organized
02:50in Turkey, Norway, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Italy condemning the crimes against
02:56humanity committed by Saudi troops in Palestine.
03:00Participants also demanded a ceasefire on the entry of humanitarian aid into the country.
03:04Furthermore, they also called for an end to double standards and the need to bring the
03:08Israeli occupation to justice for its massacres against the Palestinian people, especially
03:12against women and children.
03:19And in Brazil, citizens mobilized in the city of Rio de Janeiro in solidarity with the people
03:23of Palestine within the framework of the meeting between the heads of states of the G20.
03:28During the activity, the mobilized people raised their voices for the thousands of victims
03:32killed by Israel in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
03:36They also held the G20 member countries responsible for the massacre for not taking concrete measures
03:42to demand a ceasefire and to guarantee the stability of the region.
03:45Citizens also expressed their solidarity with the peoples of Syria, Lebanon, Cuba and Venezuela
03:50in the face of the imperialist pretensions of the West.
03:58And Spanish citizens demonstrated in Madrid to demand self-determination for the people
04:02of Western Sahara.
04:03More than a thousand people took part in the demonstration on Central Street of Atocha,
04:08accompanied by banners condemning the Moroccan proposal that rejects the independence of
04:12Western Sahara and limits itself to give autonomy to this territory.
04:18In turn, the spokesman of the United Left, Enrique Santiago, pointed out that the government
04:21of Pedro Sánchez betrayed the Sahara with people and violated international law by handing
04:27over Western Sahara to the Moroccan government.
04:29In this regard, he asked to guarantee the right to self-determination of the Sahrawi
04:33people by holding a referendum that would allow them to decide on their independence.
04:42And in Iran, the government announced that it will take new measures on its nuclear program
04:46if the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency issues a resolution against
04:52the country.
04:53During a televised interview, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that there are
04:57still limited opportunities for nuclear negotiations with the West regarding the nuclear deal.
05:02Araqchi also stressed that the country still believes in the possibility of resolving differences
05:07through diplomacy, but this will only be achieved if there is real will on both sides.
05:12This comes after the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael
05:16Grossi, declared that the nuclear agreement with Iran needs to be reformed.
05:25And in Libya, the first stage of the municipal elections proceeds normally and in an organized
05:30manner according to the authorities.
05:31Twenty-nine municipalities in the Western Region, twelve in the Eastern Region and seventeen
05:35in the Southern Region participate in the first stage of these elections.
05:39Also following the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's bombing of Libya in 2011, no electoral process
05:44to elect a president has taken place.
05:47Finally, the second phase of the municipal elections is scheduled for next January 1.
05:51It should be noted that more than 210,000 citizens are called to go to the polling stations
05:57in 142 constituencies in the West, East and South of the North African country.
06:08And in Senegal, the people will be able to exercise their right to vote in the more than
06:117,000 polling stations which opened their doors this November 17.
06:15More than 7 million voters in Senegal are summoned to go to the polls for early parliamentary
06:20elections, which predict a rivalry between the former president, Macky Sall, and the
06:24current prime minister, Roussef Monsonco.
06:26In a press release, the National Council of Audiovisual Regulation asked the media to
06:29show responsibility and professionalism to guarantee that the results broadcast are verified
06:36and come from authorized authorities.
06:39In the midst of a climate of violence, the Minister of Interior and Public Security,
06:42Jean Baptiste Tinet, assured that the voting will be free and transparent.
06:50And we now have a short break coming up, but first, remember you can join us on TikTok

07:01more.
07:03Stay with us.
07:14Welcome back.
07:15Haiti's new government, headed by businessman Alex Didier Fils-Aimé, was officially sworn
07:19in this November 16 after a week of escalating violence in the capital due to armed gangs
07:23that plagued the country.
07:25The new head of government stated that there is no time to lose, and that this government
07:29is taking office with a sense of urgency and gravity.
07:33Of the total number of ministers, eight will retain their positions.
07:36They hailed one of the recently dismissed prime ministers, Gary Conneal, while ten will
07:40join the executive.
07:41The new head of government invited ministers to fully appreciate the magnitude of the responsibilities
07:46incumbent upon them, and consider that only the participation and contribution of all
07:53can provide effective and lasting responses.
08:02Our mission is clear.
08:04We must give hope to our people by tackling with determination the major challenges that
08:08Haiti faces.
08:10Insecurity in all forms must be fought vigorously.
08:21Roads and major roads must once again become avenues of life and prosperity.
08:28And those who have had to abandon their homes must be able to return to their homes in complete
08:33safety.
08:35In Haiti, residents of the Salino neighborhood gathered to improvise shelters in the area
08:41of Bourbon in a desperate effort to assemble a camp where they can settle.
08:45The International Organization for Migration denounced the gang violence in Haiti's capital
08:51caused the displacement of more than 20,000 people in a matter of four days amid escalating
08:56violence.
08:57The crisis has also disrupted critical supply chains and isolated the city.
09:00In this context, the closure of air traffic following the shooting.
09:04All three commercial aircraft, restrictions on access to the country's main seaport and
09:08insecurity on the roads have left the metropolitan area in a state of paralysis compounding the
09:13suffering of vulnerable communities.
09:19Haiti must hold elections to elect a new government.
09:23I can't lie to you.
09:24I have no idea how the government will be able to organize the elections because violence
09:28is dominating everything.
09:30And the government doesn't seem to have the will to solve the problem of insecurity.
09:35In other news, the president of China, Xi Jinping, declared on November 16 he is willing
09:40to maintain relations with the United States under the administration of Donald Trump on
09:45the right terms in a meeting with his counterpart Joe Biden in Peru.
09:49During the meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that contradictions and differences
09:55between two great countries like China and the U.S. are inevitable, but one side should
09:59not undermine the fundamental interests of the other.
10:02In essence, Xi indicated that the one China principle and the three joint communiques
10:06of China and the U.S. are the political basis of the relations between the two countries.
10:11Xi Jinping pointed out that they should always be respected.
10:14He also referred to the Taiwan issue, democracy and human rights.
10:18China's way and system and China's right to development are four red lines for China
10:23which must not be challenged or crossed.
10:25In a great scientific and technological revolution in full swing, neither dissociation or supply
10:31chain disruption is a solution.
10:33Only mutual and beneficial cooperation can lead to common development.
10:37The policy of small yard, high fence is not what a big country should pursue.
10:43Only openness and exchange can improve the welfare of the people.
10:49As two big countries, China and the United States should keep in mind the interests of
10:53the whole world and inject more certainty and positive energy into a turbulent world.
10:59In this context, the President of China expresses willingness and commitment to work together
11:04with the U.S. government.
11:06China is willing to work with the new administration of the United States.
11:10China is willing to work with the U.S. government.
11:13China is willing to work with the U.S. government.
11:17China is willing to work with the new U.S. administration to maintain communication,
11:24expand cooperation, and manage differences, to strive for a stable transition of the Sino-U.S.
11:31relationship for the benefit of the two peoples.
11:34In Argentina, the consumer price index with respect to the food sector has been growing
11:39for months at half the general inflation rate, a fact that the government celebrates while
11:44all food and beverage items fall up to 25% in sales.
11:48The prices of the food basket, after the devaluation order by Malay in December 2023, have reached
11:54unattainable values for the population.
11:56A report by the consultant firm PXQ, headed by the former Vice Minister of Economy Emanuel
12:01Alvarez-Ayes, shows that in Argentina food prices in dollars are among the most expensive
12:06in the world.
12:07The report also compares the values of textiles and durable goods with what they cost in other
12:12countries, showing surprising figures.
12:20In the United States, authorities arrested at least nine citizens who expressed their
12:24rejection of men's anti-abortion demonstrations.
12:27According to local media, the anti-abortion mobilization attracted counter-demonstrators
12:31dressed as clowns, who were arrested for disorderly conduct.
12:34The local police department also added that members of the counter-protesters were verbally
12:39assaulting participants of the men's march, and explaining that social egos were not welcome
12:44in the city.
12:45Afterwards, local authorities did not immediately make it clear when the arrested individuals
12:49would be brought to justice.

13:33Welcome back.
13:34In the Philippines, more than 650,000 people were evacuated after Super Typhoon Manji made
13:39landfall on Saturday night.
13:40The super typhoon hit the island municipality of Catanduanes, destroying houses and uprooting
13:45trees.
13:46This Sunday, the super typhoon made landfall in the northern province of Aurora at 3.20
13:51p.m. local time, with sustained winds of up to 185 km per hour and gusts of up to 230 km
13:58per hour.
13:59It is estimated that Manji could impact Luzon, the country's most populous island, and economic
14:03powerhouse, crossing north of Manila and moving into the South China Sea by Monday.
14:13In a new report, the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, informed that 74 municipalities
14:18in the country were directly impacted by Tropical Storm Zara, and more than 60,000 people were
14:23affected.
14:24The president emphasized that the rains, floods, and overflowing rivers caused by Zara left
14:29significant damage.
14:30In descent, 63,920 people are in a condition of victims, while 3,720 are in shelters.
14:38Castro's government, SINAGER, COPECO, and the Secretariat of Risk Management and National
14:44Constituencies are currently working to save lives and provide protection to the people
14:48most exposed to damage, and which has not yet been reached due to the severity of the
14:52weather conditions.
14:54China began construction of the world's largest offshore solar park in Shandong Province.
15:02The state-owned China National Nuclear Corp. is in charge of the project.
15:06The park is 8 km off the coast of the city of Dongyin and can generate 178 billion kWh
15:12of power each year.
15:14That amount can power the consumption of 2.6 million urban residents.
15:19The farm is designed to house almost 3,000 panels of 60 m long and wide.
15:25It will cover an area of more than 1,200 hectares.
15:42Salvador makes history by inaugurating the first Palestinian museum in Latin America
15:47located in the Salvadoran Arab Club.
15:49The first Palestinian museum in Latin America was inaugurated on November 16.
15:53The space will tell the history, culture, traditions, art, and heritage of that country.
15:58The space contains a lot of emotional value, historical value, but above all the contribution
16:02of the Palestinian people.
16:04It will also have guides and tours toward each area.
16:07The museum will serve as a bridge of fusion between the Salvadoran and Palestinian cultures,
16:12positioning itself as a meeting place for all those who wish to know more about the two nations.
16:23It is very important in these times when they are trying to eliminate or annihilate the Palestinian identity
16:28to be Palestinian.
16:30That people who are more than 10,000 km away from Palestine bring a fragment of Palestine,
16:34bring pieces of Palestine, bring coins, documents, maps and museum mounts,
16:39so that the present and future generations do not forget about Palestine.
16:42It is very important.
16:48You will find in the text the true history of so many civilizations that passed through the Holy Land.
16:55You will find books.
16:57You will find gastronomy.
17:00You will find a person who will guide you in every detail,
17:04in every curiosity that you can find.
17:08We have tried to highlight the most relevant symbols that show us struggle
17:13and hope for our future
17:16and what we are going to leave to the new generation and the next one.
17:21In India, the resurgence of retro records among music fans reflects the trend of skyrocketing vinyl sales
17:27from the United States to Britain and Brazil.
17:30The retro format has been embraced by retailers such as Walmart
17:35that produce these discs,
17:37which were shot through with celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and Harry Styles.
17:41In India, this resurgence is much smaller, but younger fans are joining the trend,
17:45an industry that Sajeep Ghai, founder and director of a press in Mumbai,
17:50says is challenging in a slowly growing market.
17:53At decent turntables, some systems and tent records cost fans between $600 and $1,180,
18:00which at the low end is more than double the average monthly salary.
18:04Well, for those who can afford it, the old system offers a new experience.
18:11There is a particular kind of category of people who still love their collectors
18:17and then I realized all across the globe, it's really picking up.
18:22And we wanted to start a vinyl record plant in 2015,
18:28but then it was a very tough decision.
18:30People around us discouraged, you're going to spend a lot of money, burn your money.
18:34So don't take that risk. It needs a lot of old hands to run,
18:38because the technology is pretty old.
18:41And I think a lot of people who sort of go down this route eventually realize
18:46that records do sound better.
18:49And another thing for me that specifically separates records from everything else
18:52is that records don't have a lot of fatigue,
18:56which means that you're fatigued.
18:58What that means is that I can listen to records for eight hours straight
19:01and feel no reason to shut off my system.
19:03Whereas if I'm streaming something via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi,
19:06after 45 minutes, maybe an hour, I need to tone down.
19:10We are coming to the end of this news brief.
