00:49Hello and welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Teresa Studios in Havana,
00:54Cuba.
00:55We begin with the news.
01:14Israel assassinated Hezbollah media spokesman Mohamed Afif in an airstrike in downtown Beirut.
01:19Lebanese authorities confirmed the bombing that hit the Baath party office building where
01:25Afif was located.
01:26Citizens warned that the attack was unusual since most of the attacks are directed against
01:30the south of the Lebanese capital.
01:33For their part, the Israeli forces assured that the attacks against Lebanon will continue
01:37on the excuse of targeting the defense infrastructure of the Lebanese resistance.
01:45The Palestinian government denounced a growing environmental and health crisis in Gaza due
01:50to the ongoing Israeli blockade.
01:52Authorities said Israel's refusal to allow gas into the occupied territory forced many
01:56families to use the tree branches for cooking and heating.
02:00According to data, this situation seriously affected the vegetation cover, which represents
02:04the lawns of the city and serves for improving air quality, causing high pollution rates,
02:10aggravating health risks, especially for children and elderly, exposing them to serious airborne
02:15diseases.
02:16Authorities called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene
02:20urgently to mitigate the environmental and health damage.
02:29In Gaza, Israeli forces killed at least 70 Palestinians early this November 17 in a new
02:33attack against Rafa and Burei's refugee camp.
02:36Dozens of Palestinians were killed or injured following an Israeli airstrike on a residential
02:41building in the besieged town of Beit Ahaya, which, according to local sources, sheltered
02:4670 displaced people.
02:48Initial reports suggest that the airstrike carried out by Israeli fighter jets caused
02:52extensive damage to the building, which collapsed, causing a significant number of casualties
02:57among innocent civilians, including children and women.
03:00The precise number of casualties is still unknown, as rescue teams are unable to reach
03:04the area of the attack due to the extensive destruction and continued Israeli airstrikes.
03:13And in Europe, several countries united in a massive demonstration to denounce the Israeli
03:17genocide against the citizens of the Gaza Strip.
03:20According to various media reports, thousands of people participated in rallies organized
03:25in Turkey, Norway, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Italy condemning the crimes against
03:30humanity committed by Zionist troops in Palestine.
03:34Participants also demanded a ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid into the country.
03:38Furthermore, they also called for an end to double standards and the need to bring the
03:42Israeli occupation to justice for its massacres against the Palestinian people, especially
03:47against women and children.
03:54The government of Abqasiyah warned that attempts by opposition forces to resolve the political
03:58conflict in the country by force would only lead to destabilization and a humanitarian
04:03crisis.
04:04President Aslan Sania said that a balanced solution, as pursued by the opposition, would
04:09lead to food destabilization, economic losses and a humanitarian crisis.
04:13The president pointed out that a peaceful solution, on the contrary, would create conditions
04:18for restoring stability, attracting investments and developing the country.
04:22On Friday, November 15th, protesters opposed an investment agreement with Russia seized
04:26the Presidential Administration Building and Parliament Building in Suzhoume to demand
04:31the resignation of the President of the Republic.
04:39The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost more than
04:4233,000 servicemen during the fighting in the Russian province of Kursk.
04:47The Defense Ministry said that during the incursion into Kursk, Kiev forces lost 231
04:51tanks, 137 infantry fighting vehicles, 285 artillery weapons and 40 multiple rocket launcher
04:58systems.
04:59Likewise, the Russian defense confirmed the strengthening of its positions within the
05:02framework of the special military operation in Ukraine.
05:05On their part, Ukrainian prisoners reported that troops on the front line are being neglected
05:10by the military commanders who do not provide sufficient information and abandon soldiers
05:15to be detained.
05:20And in Senegal, people were able to exercise their right to vote in more than 7,000 polling
05:24stations which opened their doors this November 17th.
05:29More than 7 million voters in Senegal were called to the polls for early parliamentary
05:33elections, which predict a rivalry between the former President Marquezal and the current
05:37Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
05:39In a press release, the National Council of Audiovisual Regulation asked the media to
05:43show responsibility and professionalism, to guarantee that the results broadcast are verified
05:48and come from authorized authorities.
05:50In the midst of a climate of violence, the Minister of Interior and Public Security Jean
05:54Baptiste assured that the voting will be free and transparent.

06:05English, where you'll find news in different formats, news updates, and much more.
06:09We'll be right back, stay with us.
06:18Welcome back.
06:19Haiti's new government, headed by businessman Alex Didier Fils-Aimé, was officially sworn
06:24in this November 16th, after a week of escalating violence in the capital due to armed guns
06:29that plagued the country.
06:30The new head of government stated that there is no time to lose, and that this government
06:34is taking office with a sense of urgency and gravity.
06:37The total number of ministers aided will retain the positions they held under recently dismissed
06:42Prime Minister Gary Corneille, while 10 will join the executive.
06:46The new head of government invited the ministers to fully appreciate the magnitude of the responsibilities
06:51incumbent upon them, and consider that only the participation and contribution of all
06:56can provide effective and lasting responses.
07:06Our mission is clear.
07:08We must give hope to our people by tackling with determination the major challenges that
07:12Haiti faces.
07:19Human security in all forms must be fought vigorously.
07:25Roads and major roads must once again become avenues of life and prosperity.
07:32And those who have had to abandon their homes must be able to return to their homes in complete
07:37safety.
07:41In Haiti, residents of the Solino neighborhood gathered to improvise shelters in the area
07:45of Bourbon in a desperate effort to assemble a camp where they can settle.
07:50The International Organization for Migration denounced that the gun violence in Haiti's
07:54capital caused the displacement of more than 20,000 people in a matter of four days amid
07:59escalating violence.
08:00The crisis has also disrupted critical supply chains and isolated the city.
08:04In this context, the closure of air traffic following the shooting of three commercial
08:08aircraft, restrictions on access to the country's main seaport, and insecurity on the roads
08:14have left the metropolitan area in a state of paralysis compounding the suffering of
08:18vulnerable communities.
08:24Haiti must hold elections to elect a new government.
08:27I can't lie to you, I have no idea how the government will be able to organize the elections
08:31because violence is dominating everything.
08:35And the government doesn't seem to have the will to solve the problem of insecurity.
08:40On Monday, November 18th, Nicaragua will be hosting the China, Latin America and the

09:13security and peace among the families of Latin America and the Caribbean.
09:21The president of China, Xi Jinping, declared on November 16th he is willing to maintain
09:25relations with the United States under the administration of Donald Trump on the right
09:29terms in a meeting with his counterpart Joe Biden in Peru.
09:33During the meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that contradictions and
09:37differences between two great countries like China and the U.S. are inevitable, but one
09:42side should not undermine the fundamental interests of the other.
09:46In that sense, Xi indicated that the one-China principle and the three joint communiques
09:50of China and the U.S. are the political basis of the relations between the two countries.
09:55Xi Jinping pointed out that they should always be respected.
09:58He also referred that the Taiwan issue, democracy and human rights, China's way and system,
10:03and China's right to development, are four red lines for China which must not be challenged or crossed.
10:15In a great scientific and technological revolution in full swing, neither dissociation or supply
10:21chain disruption is a solution.
10:24Only mutual and beneficial cooperation can lead to common development.
10:30The policy of small yard, high fence is not what a big country should pursue.
10:36Only openness and exchange can improve the welfare of mankind.
10:41As two big countries, China and the United States should keep in mind the interests of
10:46the whole world and inject more certainty and positive energy into a turbulent world.
10:52In this context, the President of China expressed his willingness and commitment to work together
10:57with the U.S. government.
11:03China is willing to work with the new U.S. administration to maintain communication,
11:08expand cooperation, and manage differences, to strive for a stable transition of the Sino-U.S.
11:15relationship for the benefit of the two peoples.

11:51In Argentina, the consumer price index with respect to the food sector has been growing
11:56for months at half the general inflation rate, a fact that the government celebrates, while
12:01all food and beverages items fall up to 25 percent in sales.
12:06The prices of the food basket after the devaluation order by Malay in December 2023 have reached
12:12unattainable values for the population, a report by the consultant firm PXQ, headed
12:16by the former Minister of Economy, Emanuel Alvarez, shows that in Argentina, food prices
12:22in dollars are among the most expensive in the world.
12:24The report also compares the values of textiles and durable goods with what they cost in other
12:30countries, showing some pricing figures.
12:36In the United States, authorities arrested at least nine citizens who expressed a rejection

12:50dressed as clowns, who were arrested for disorderly conduct.
12:54The local police department also added that members of the counter-protesters were verbally
12:58assaulting participants of the men's march and exclaiming that social ideals were not
13:02welcome in the city.
13:03Afterwards, local authorities did not immediately make it clear when the arrested individuals
13:08would be brought to justice.

13:42Welcome back.
13:52In Japan, authorities registered a 6.2-magnitude earthquake off the southern coast in the Kojima
13:56region.
13:57The European Mediterranean Seismological Center said the earthquake occurred at a depth of
14:0110 kilometers while the sub-center was located 151 kilometers south-southeast of the island
14:06of Kojima in the East China Sea.
14:08So far, no information has been released about possible casualties or material damage,
14:12nor has a tsunami warning been issued.
14:15Japan is part of the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the most active volcanic and
14:19seismic areas where 90% of all earthquakes take place.
14:27In the Philippines, more than 650,000 people were evacuated after Super Typhoon Manji made
14:32landfall on Saturday night.
14:34Super Typhoon Manji hit the island municipality of Cantanduanes, destroying houses and uprooting
14:39trees.
14:40This Sunday, the Super Typhoon Manji made landfall in the northern province of Aurora
14:43at 3.20 p.m. local time, with sustained winds of up to 185 kilometers per hour and gusts
14:49of up to 230 kilometers per hour.
14:52It's estimated that Manji could impact Luzon, the country's most populous island and economic
14:57powerhouse, crossing north of Manila and moving into the South China Sea by Monday.
15:04In a new report, the President of Honduras, Yomara Castro, informed that 74 municipalities
15:11in the country were directly impacted by the tropical storm Zara and more than 60,000 people
15:16were affected.
15:17The president emphasized that the rains, floods and overflowing rivers caused by Zara led
15:22significant damage.
15:23In descents, 63,920 people are in a condition of victims, while 3,720 are in shelters.
15:30Honduras' government, SINAGRE, COPECO and the Secretary of Risk Management and National
15:35Contingencies are currently working to save lives and provide protection to the population
15:40most exposed to damage and which has not yet been reached due to the severity of the weather
15:44conditions.
15:46In India, on Sunday, thousands of pilgrims gathered at the Ganges River to participate
16:02in their purification ritual that marks the beginning of the second half of the month
16:06of November.
16:07Hindu faithful purify themselves in the sacred waters of the Mother Ganges River to cleanse
16:12their souls and to receive blessings.
16:15According to the tradition, people immerse themselves in the waters of the river and
16:19drink from it, despite it being highly polluted.
16:22People also bring offerings and throw ashes into the river.
16:25The Ganges is one of the most important rivers in Asia for its length and its cultural and
16:30religious importance.
16:31However, its waters are highly contaminated by the industry, sewage and the cremation
16:37of humans and animals in its waters.
16:43And in India, the resurgence of retro records among music fans reflects a trend of skyrocketing
16:48vinyl sales from the United States to Britain and Brazil.
16:52The retro format has been embraced by retailers such as Walmart and presence around the world
16:57that produce these discs were shot through with severities such as Taylor Swift, Billie
17:03Eilish and Harry Styles.
17:05In India, this resurgence is much smaller, but younger fans are joining the trend in
17:10an industry that Sajid Pillai, founder and director of a press in Mumbai, says is challenging
17:15in a slowly growing market.
17:17This entertainable sound system and ten records cost fans between $600 and $1,180, which at
17:24the low end is more than double the average monthly salary.
17:28But for those who can afford it, the old system offers a new experience.
17:34You know, there is a particular kind of category of people who they still love their collectors.
17:41And then I realized all across the globe, it's really picking up.
17:45And we wanted to start a vinyl record plant in 2015.
17:51But then it was a very tough decision.
17:53People around us discouraged, you're going to spend a lot of money, burn your money.
17:58So don't take that risk.
17:59It needs a lot of old hands to run because the technology is pretty old.
18:05And I think a lot of people who sort of go down this route eventually realize that records
18:11do sound better.
18:12And another thing for me that specifically separates records from everything else is
18:16that records don't have a lot of fatigue, which means that your fatigue, which means
18:22is that I can listen to records for eight hours straight and feel no reason to shut
18:25off my system.
18:26Whereas if I'm streaming something via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, after 45 minutes, maybe an hour,
18:31I need to tone down.
18:34We have come to the end of this newspaper.
