00:00The country has a big role of giving hope to the public whenever there is a calamity.
00:06We often hear different terms as a reminder to our fellow countrymen.
00:11What does this mean?
00:15Rod Nagusad will tell you in detail.
00:20Six typhoons hit the country in just one month.
00:25Because of this, a lot of people were affected by the heavy rainfall in many places.
00:31The most rainfall was caused by Hurricane Christine, the first of six typhoons.
00:36Based on the data of Pagasa, 586.3 mm of rainfall was recorded in Legazpi from Hurricane Christine.
00:44This is equivalent to more than a month of record-breaking rainfall for the Bicol Region.
00:49This is the highest amount of rainfall that we have recorded since Pagasa started to record the rainfall.
00:59For Hurricane Christine, because we are still transitioning from Habagat to Amihan,
01:05during that time, there were still some moisture left in the Philippines.
01:12Aside from the typhoon, there was also a southwesterly wind flow.
01:18This was also a factor in the rainfall during Hurricane Christine.
01:23The rainfall from Bagyong Loyon to Pepito is a direct effect of the typhoon.
01:28The reason for this is that the rain was falling in different parts of the country.
01:32Whenever RAINFALL ADVISORY announces Pagasa,
01:36we often hear different terms for the possible strength of the rainfall that can be experienced in one place.
01:42For example, if it is moderate to heavy, it is possible for the rainfall to be strong, especially if the place is low.
01:49If it is heavy to intense, it is possible for the rainfall to be strong to medium or low.
01:54If it is intense or torrential, it is possible for the rainfall to be low to deep.
02:00But there are other things that can be affected, such as the topography or physical feature of a place.
02:06And next to the typhoon parades,
02:09the hot sea near the country is the source of the next typhoons that pass through the country.
02:15The only system that is affected by that time is the high-pressure area here in the east of the Philippines.
02:21Because the drought has not started yet,
02:25and usually when there is a drought, the high-pressure system in the northwestern portion also gets stronger.
02:32That did not happen during the time of Christine until Pipito,
02:37that is why almost all typhoons pass directly to the northern portion of our country.
02:42Meanwhile, the possibility of a drought is at 50%,
02:47but it continues to decrease because of the continuous passing of typhoons.
02:51Because of this, the cold of the sea near the country is expected.
02:56Rod Laguzad, for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
