00:00Christmas is just around the corner and many of us are searching for the perfect
00:04gift to give to our loved ones. Now those of us who love food and drink there are
00:09plenty of amazing gifts and gift sets out there that you can purchase and give
00:13to someone as a gift this Christmas. Scottish gin company Caroon Gin claim
00:18that they do actually have a perfect gift that you can give this Christmas
00:22and that gift is a personalized gin. Caroon Gin have kindly sent me my own
00:27bottle of personalized gin so I can really take a look at it and also taste
00:31it to tell you whether or not it is actually worth buying. I'm Holly Alton
00:36and I'm a food and drink writer for National World. Let's get into it.
00:40So Caroon Gin as I said is a Scottish gin company and it is actually
00:44award-winning and although I've never tried it I do have high hopes for this
00:48gin. The gin is created by using five locally sourced botanicals which
00:53includes Rowan Berry, Dandelion Heather, Cool Blush Apple and Bog Myrtles. It also
00:59uses natural Scottish water as well as six gin botanicals. Now this Christmas
01:04Caroon Gin have launched a personalized version bottle of their classic gin and
01:10here it is. So this is Caroon Gin's classic gin, they do have other flavours
01:15available but this is the original. It is £30 for a 70cl bottle which
01:22given the size of this bottle I actually think is quite affordable and I will go
01:28into how it tastes and if it tastes good then it will be worth it however I could
01:31end up not liking it so we'll see what happens with that. So while the gin
01:35lover in your life might appreciate a nice bottle of gin for Christmas what
01:39makes this one a little bit more exciting is that you can actually
01:42personalize the bottle with your name and as you can see on this label that's
01:47my name right there and a personalized message as well and as Caroon Gin kindly
01:52sent me this bottle to review they have popped Merry Christmas on the label with
01:56it being a Christmas gift I'm pretty sure lots of people will choose that as
01:59their personalized message however when you go on the website to personalize the
02:03bottle you can literally type anything you want. As I mentioned it is £30 for
02:08this bottle of classic gin which is 70cl and to add personalization there's
02:12actually no extra cost so I will say that is a great move from Caroon Gin
02:17personally to not put any more extra fees on top and make it free of charge.
02:22Now bit of a disclaimer Caroon Gin have recommended that this be
02:27poured with a tonic water and with a slice of red apple however I do think
02:32that I'm gonna consume it the way I would if it was given to me as a gift
02:36and I do always choose lemonade with my gin. Some people think that is disgraceful
02:42and that a J&T is all the way until people are totally on my side and they
02:45feel the same so yes I'm gonna be trying this classic gin today with a little bit
02:50of lemonade. Right I've poured myself a glass and we're going to go in and have
02:53a taste but before I do that I would like to mention that while I was pouring
02:57the glass I totally noticed the strong scent of the gin. Now this to me is
03:02actually a good thing because it proves that it is a good quality gin and the
03:06smell while strong wasn't off-putting so let's have a taste. That is actually
03:13really nice. I will say for me personally I'm over flavored gin type of person I
03:19don't tend to reach for a sort of original gin flavor and again you know I
03:24like the sweetness by adding lemonade and things like that but I think for
03:29those of us who love a classic J&T and want to taste a really high quality gin
03:35then this is a great gift personally. Yeah it tastes really nice and I think
03:42that the added touch of the personalized label is amazing. If we just take another
03:46look at the bottle once again I think it is a beautiful bottle and the gin it
03:51does taste nice so you've got that added bonus and yeah I think if somebody that
03:56you know really likes the gin then you can't go wrong with this. It doesn't
04:00taste awful it's definitely not one of my favorites out there but as I say I
04:03like unique flavors and things like that. The gin itself though is lovely I'd be
04:08interested to try Caroon Gin's other ranges like their flavored gins because
04:12that is more my thing but you know there's plenty of us out there who love
04:16your standard gins from Gordon's, Hendricks, Bombay Sapphire all of those
04:21brands so why not let Caroon Gin be in that sort of lineup of leading gins
04:27because that is a really really great gin. I'm really happy I've tried that and
04:32yeah definitely a great gift for the gin lover in your life this Christmas.
