Evan Marinofsky and Conor Ryan are back with another episode of Bruins Beat! Today, they discuss the Bruins suffering another tough loss on Black Friday, continuing a string of heartbreaking defeats. Despite generating plenty of chances, the team still struggles to score, which remains a major concern as the season progresses. One glaring issue is the power play, which ranks among the worst in the league—addressing that could go a long way toward boosting the offense.
Meanwhile, questions remain about Jeremy Swayman’s form, as he hasn’t quite looked like himself recently. The Bruins will need him to return to his previous high level of play if they’re going to turn things around and stay competitive in a tough Eastern Conference.

00:20Terms apply.
00:21I am Evan Maronofsky, that is Connor Ryan.
00:24Connor, what is up?
00:26Evan, I'm doing well.
00:28I sound like I'm doing better than you are.
00:31You are.
00:32I have, I caught something.
00:34We talked on Poke the Bear on Tuesday or Wednesday, and I could feel something coming on, but
00:41I'm like, maybe it's, you know, I golfed all day Sunday and it was cold out and there
00:46was a dog over Saturday and I'm kind of allergic to dogs.
00:49You know, maybe it's that.
00:51And it wasn't.
00:52It wasn't.
00:53I just got sick that time of year.
00:55So that's the fun part.
00:57Had a good Thanksgiving, good food, good family time, a lot of emergency, which love, you
01:05know, how about you?
01:06Doing it's damnedest.
01:07It's like Osmosis Jones, just fighting the good fight right now.
01:11It is.
01:13How was your Thanksgiving?
01:14It was good.
01:15Low key.
01:16Went out to a, went out to a restaurant.
01:19We had people kind of all over the place, it was a hectic kind of holiday, but it was
01:22good.
01:24I don't I don't mind going out to a restaurant and have a nice steak.
01:26I'm not a big turkey guy anyway, so like good for you for taking a real stand.
01:31I feel like I'm always I always say I don't love turkey, but I still eat it.
01:34Yeah.
01:35I don't give a shit about that bird.
01:36Big turkey.
01:37It's ugly.
01:38Makes a lot of annoying noises.
01:40It bothers people.
01:41It attacks people on the green line.
01:42Like it's not it's not a good bird.
01:44Not celebrating.
01:45I'm not celebrating that little shit bird.
01:47No.
01:48And turkeys, by the way, are carried on Thanksgiving, like stuffing mashed potatoes, gravy, like
01:52exactly.
01:53You don't need I mean, you can do gravy on chicken, but chicken stands alone.
01:58Steak stands alone.
01:59If you put anything on steak, people get offended because steak is supposed to have a lot of
02:01flavor and it usually does.
02:04But turkey, not much to it.
02:06I know people say, oh, that means you cook a bad turkey.
02:09And it's like, no, man, I've had a lot of turkey from a lot of places.
02:12It's always not that great.
02:13Just doesn't taste good.
02:14Always mid.
02:15Yeah.
02:16Yeah.
02:17It is mid.
02:18It's not inedible, but it is mid.
02:20But anyway, I was back to the Bruins here.
02:22I was I was optimistic heading into the Black Friday game.
02:25I think a lot of people were Wednesday night's game Bruins trounced the Islanders 6-3.
02:31They hang with them all game and then, you know, sort of turbocharged by them in the
02:35third.
02:36We have said all along they need a big goal game.
02:39They finally get it.
02:40Zaka gets to Poshnok gets three assists like everybody seems to be chipping in.
02:45So going against Pittsburgh, I'm like, oh, this is it.
02:48Black Friday game big, you know, on TNT, Coyle scores on Jari less than two minutes
02:53in.
02:54I'm like, oh, boy, here.
02:55These are the races.
02:56Yeah.
02:57These are the floodgates we talked about on Wednesday.
02:58They are thrashing open and they didn't score again and they lost two to one and all the
03:04same problems.
03:05Weird.
03:06They're ugly, ugly heads.
03:07What do you take away from it's tough because we never really talked about Wednesday's game
03:14because of where it came.
03:16But it's sort of what have you done for me lately and what they did for us lately was
03:18lose two to one on Friday.
03:19I think that's a little more relevant at this time.
03:21Right.
03:22Yeah.
03:23No, I mean, where have we seen this before, Evan, where the Bruins have one or two games
03:27would feel like things are turning in the right direction and they take a major step
03:31back.
03:32And I think like when we spoke last, right, it was after that Vancouver game where or
03:36was it before the Vancouver game?
03:37No, it was after it was OK.
03:40So after that game, they lose, they lose to nothing.
03:44And like, again, I think we were kind of mapping out as like, well, that sucks.
03:47That's really frustrating.
03:48But they're playing the right way.
03:50Like they play and, you know, have a seventy four to thirty five edge and short attempts
03:56and hold an 18 to two edge and high danger chances.
03:59Again, the floodgates are going to open somewhere.
04:01You play that way.
04:02You're going to win most of your game.
04:03So I think we were kind of spinning a positive and that builds into, you know, Wednesday's
04:08win where they break through, get six goals, really control a third period.
04:13And where does all that go on on Friday against a really bad Pittsburgh team, Pittsburgh team
04:18that I think the only time they've allowed less than two goals was I think it was like
04:23losses to like Montreal and the Ducks, I believe, of the two teams have done that.
04:27Not good.
04:28Like, no, not good.
04:29If you're in that company in terms of ineptitude against scoring against Chisholm Jari.
04:33So, yeah, I think all across the board, it's just a step back because the defense kind
04:39of like how it was for spurts during that Islanders game, way too loosey goosey, way
04:43too many rush chances for Pittsburgh, way too much, you know, them generating what they
04:49want to do, which Mike Sullivan team wants to get up and going.
04:51And they did that way too much in that game.
04:54And then, yeah, the lack of finishing.
04:55But it even wasn't even like previous games where the Bruins are putting everything on
04:59net and the underlying numbers are lopsided towards the Bruins.
05:03You're like, all right, like shit, this finishing just finally breaks through.
05:07They're almost there.
05:08It's just a flat, bad game kind of across the board where the Bruins had all the momentum
05:13against a really, really bad Pittsburgh team and completely squandered it.
05:18And at this point of the year, and, you know, I think hopefully we've gotten past the point
05:22where in early November, late October, where guys like Marcian were saying like, oh, it's
05:26still time.
05:27This is the time we start banking points because like, yes, like that win against the Islanders
05:31put you into third in the Atlantic.
05:33And you're lucky that like the rest of the division is kind of middling right now and
05:37not.
05:38And they have games on everybody.
05:39Yes.
05:40Like, you're lucky that you're even in third right now, based on the way you've played
05:43and the fact that no other team's really taken off.
05:46But these are the games you look back on in March where this team is trying to make a
05:50push and all of a sudden, Tampa Bay's got two games, you know, they've got six or seven
05:56points ahead of you.
05:57You're looking back at a game like this being like, why did they show out so flat in that
06:01game?
06:02Yeah.
06:03Like, as much as we've seen spurts of this team playing the right way, playing, I think,
06:07more to identity, which I think is what they've been doing under Sacco.
06:11You're still in the same spot you are, where you're taking one step forward, two steps
06:14back.
06:15And it feels like this was another really frustrating step back for a team that desperately
06:19needs to get some traction here and get on a roll, especially at this point of the season.
06:25Yeah.
06:26It's tough because like, even look at, you know, the Penguins out high danger chance
06:31them like 13 to seven, I think if I'm on five, 15, 10, when you incorporate all situations
06:36and that first period, the Bruins, you know, they were just trading rush chance.
06:40I mean, it was a, it was an entertaining, actually entertaining.
06:42Yeah.
06:43And then the Penguin sort of took over in the second and they took over for the first
06:46half of the third.
06:47But then again, like you even look at the second half of the third period for the Bruins.
06:51And I think it was Latang who stopped, was it coil on an open net?
06:57And then Carlson did something similar late in the game with, was it geeky?
07:01I believe so.
07:03Yeah.
07:04So like they have these chances that should go in and they don't, so they can't finish.
07:10They are getting a little unlucky at the moment.
07:12Jari made some huge saves on a couple of chances.
07:15Lindholm had a chance in front that he kind of turned around and slapped at it and Jari
07:18got, you know, got a piece of it.
07:21But again, like we said this after the Vancouver game, if it's just one game and you can't
07:25finish, it's like, ah, shucks happens, but this continues to happen.
07:30And yeah, I mean, you know, Wednesday was great.
07:33Six goals, you know, five goals that weren't an empty netter on the Islanders is terrific.
07:38That's awesome.
07:39You know, and you score early and Martian was had to, and could have had a hat trick
07:42by the end of the third, but that's an outlier like that.
07:45We can safely say that for what we've seen, that game is an outlier.
07:50And the norm is what happened against Vancouver, what happened against Pittsburgh on black
07:53Friday.
07:55That's a scary thing.
07:56And you know, I just, the chances are there.
08:01You're not finishing them.
08:03And you know, again, I think what's concerning the game against Pittsburgh is you gave up
08:07a lot of chances to, and Swayman played well, we'll get into a little bit later because
08:11I still think he's not, sorry, he's still not quite up to a hundred percent.
08:16And quite frankly, neither am I, but I just, it's the, the chances aren't there.
08:23And to me, the biggest thing, the biggest thing is that power play that big stinking,
08:28terrible, no good, horrible, very bad power play just continues to haunt them.
08:34And it should have been the difference in a game like the game against the penguins.
08:38Like that's where you cook, that's where you should cook.
08:42And it just doesn't do anything.
08:46I mean, yeah.
08:48And like to your point of like, you can look at like Jari had a few good saves and you
08:52know, that's right.
08:53And you even look at that game against Vancouver where Kevin Lankerton has been like a machine
08:58on the road this year.
08:59He's like eight and oh, nine and oh on the road.
09:01So like, listen, like there's that, but he loves it.
09:06He loves going to, you know, he's your house.
09:07He was hyped up.
09:08He wished the last resort was still there.
09:10Like he was going to do the whole thing, walk the freedom trail.
09:13But you can look at like this team getting goalied all the time, but it's kind of like,
09:17you know, what's that phrase?
09:19Like you go and meet everyone in life and everyone's an asshole.
09:22Maybe you're an asshole.
09:23Like if you keep on getting goalied, maybe it's your problem that you can't put the puck
09:26into the net.
09:27And as you said, that power play is just killing them right now where I mean, if this power
09:32play was, we're not, we're not asking them to be a top five unit to be operating 27%
09:36to something like that.
09:38But can you imagine like with a soon be if they had like five more power play, three
09:42more power play goals on the year, like they have like two or three more wins.
09:46It's killing them right now.
09:48And I want to talk power play changes, uh, because I think that we're, we're not at the,
09:54we're at a point where you need to make drastic, uh, changes to it.
09:58And I want to get into what those might be.
10:00But we're talking about PPS kind of the only thing that's better than a good power play
10:04is prize picks because it's prize picks time.

10:46I did pretty well, especially in that night game, Dolphins Packers.
10:49I did.
10:50I did pretty well.

11:29It's on TV.
11:30You know, you're watching like, you know, Canucks Predators on tonight, man, open up
11:34prize packs, um, power play.
11:38I think you need drastic change.
11:40You need, you need like all time changes to it.
11:44And obviously you're not going to, you know, make a trade, you know, Chris Kreider's not
11:48going to come in and revitalize your whole power play.
11:50Although it would help.
11:51Um, I think it starts with the top.
11:54Um, this sounds insane, but I tried David Pasternak as the quarterback.
12:00I do.
12:01I'm at that point.
12:02Oh my God.
12:03That's insane.
12:04Everyone there.
12:05Every team is shutting down his one timer that one time where it's coming.
12:08Yeah.
12:09That one timer is irrelevant at the moment.
12:11Put him at the top of the key, put him up top and let him cook.
12:15Or you do everyone moving around and you have different people at the top consistently.
12:19Um, I think that's one change you could make.
12:22You also could run things through the half wall.
12:26I remember, uh, this is a long time ago, but I think Claude used to have Ryan Spooner,
12:30uh, run it through the half ball.
12:31And it wasn't necessarily amazing.
12:33Like I'd much rather it run through the top, uh, through the point.
12:37But you're at that point, man, where nothing's working and you got to just throw stuff against
12:42the wall and hope it sticks.
12:44Yeah.
12:45I mean, it's like right now you keep on going to the one play, which is Pasternak, you know,
12:49the one timer.
12:50And it's like, it's like if Mariano Rivera kept on throwing his cut fastball, which you
12:54all know that's what he's throwing, but it was hittable.
12:57And so you just keep on teeing off against it because there was two or three times where
13:01the puck, you know, it goes back between McAvoy.
13:05He hesitates, doesn't shoot.
13:06And then it goes right back to Pasternak.
13:08And what do you know what's there when Pasternak let's go with a shot, there's a guy like sitting
13:13like a Kate Winslet in Titanic, ready to block the shot.
13:16Like there's two or three times where that's happened, where they know they know what's
13:20coming on that play.
13:22And there was, you know, and then there was another one late too.
13:25I think it was the one right at the tail end, like five minutes ago, where it was really
13:30dumb penalty by Pittsburgh, perfect opportunity for you to bury, bury Pittsburgh, get back
13:36into the game, tie it up, at least get a point, try to draw something out of that game.
13:42And that only even got a shot on goal there.
13:44It's like way too predictable, way too much.
13:48You know, it's going to happen.
13:49You know, they're going to be, you know, moving over to cover Pasternak and take away that
13:53one time shot.
13:54So like we saw even in the first few games with Sacco, where they were generating a lot
14:00of shot volume on the power play, it's because they were more unpredictable.
14:03You had a lot more pucks going through the bumper.
14:05You had a lot more Martian getting involved at the net front.
14:08And those changes were, even if they weren't leading to goals, they haven't had like a
14:12a two for three showing on the power play, two for four showing shit, like anything like
14:17that, any step in the right direction.
14:19You had them, what was it like that game against Utah?
14:22They had like 18 shots on goal on the power play.
14:25Granted, it was seven penalties.
14:26So but they were they were generating looks and there was that was a step in the right
14:30direction.
14:31Now it's the same.
14:33Go back to what's working for you, but it's not working for you because everyone knows
14:35what's happening.
14:36So like, I agree, like at this point that you have to move a guy like Pasternak around.
14:40If if he's not going to be capitalizing on that one timer because the players are taking
14:44that away from him, move him around like you need to add more unpredictability to that
14:49group.
14:50So if you move Pasternak and the shots are coming from a different area or it means that
14:54guys like Zaka or Lindholm or Marchand are getting more involved and PK, you know, penalty
15:00killers have to be more aware of those guys down low in high danger ice.
15:05I think you have to you have to do something.
15:06You can't keep on rolling out the same group that has the talent when the results are just
15:11not there right now.
15:12Because again, where would this team be with just a few more of these power play goals
15:15right now?
15:16Killing them when you look at how small the margin for error is for this team, especially
15:21just offensively.
15:22I mean, again, like you could even like we can get an X's and O's.
15:27You could move Pasternak even to the bumper.
15:30The question is then who is who's at the one timer spot?
15:34Who's at the point?
15:37I would assume Zaka and Marchand are sort of either, you know, next to Pasternak in
15:43the bumper, along the half wall, and one of them is down low.
15:48And then, you know, does Lindholm go to that one timer spot?
15:51Does Lindholm go deeper?
15:53You know, does he go more towards the net front and you just completely eliminate a
15:56one timer?
15:57Is McAvoy the guy at the point?
15:58I think there's a lot of things you can try.
16:02It's just not working.
16:03And their zone entries are terrible, too.
16:05Like that's another area where like, they can't get anything going.
16:08How many times do you see them dumping it on the power play?
16:10And it's like, oh, like that's when you know you're screwed when you are throwing pucks
16:16in deep into corners and trying to win 50-50 pucks when you're on the power play.
16:21And so many of their zone entries just, you know, even if they do get over the blue line,
16:26they stop right at the blue line and corner themselves and then have no play.
16:30So that to me is why you need to rethink it.
16:32And you also need to rethink your breakout, too.
16:35Like they can't just be McAvoy comes up, drops it to Pasternak and Pasternak bowls up ahead
16:40because teams have been shutting that down.
16:43They're getting in his way.
16:44Nothing's coming of it.
16:45You need to try something different.
16:47Is that Zaka bringing it up?
16:49Is it McAvoy just taking it?
16:51Is McAvoy, you know, is it low ride?
16:53Do you take McAvoy off it completely?
16:55Because again, right now, like you can change the personnel all you want.
16:58If Pasternak's in that one-timer spot and McAvoy's at the point, same stuff's going to happen
17:05because it ain't working.
17:06It just, hey, we thought going into the year, like I thought, oh, Lindholm being in the bumper.
17:10That's going to, you know, probably is going to be so much stuff.
17:13Yeah, it hasn't at all.
17:15It has not at all.
17:16So I think there's, you know, I think it's not so much the personnel.
17:20It's sort of the placement of the personnel that needs to just be completely overhauled.
17:25And, you know, Sacco talked his introductory press conference of like, we can't change everything today.
17:29We're not going to try to.
17:30And I get that.
17:31That makes sense.
17:32You know, you walk into something new, you're not going to be like, oh, we're doing this, this, this.
17:35I get that.
17:36But power play should be number one of, all right, let's just completely rethink it.
17:40Let's, you know, let's just blow this whole thing up and start from scratch, because that is what Mark Castling in the bumper.
17:48Yes.
17:50Yeah.
17:51Why not?
17:51That'd be great.
17:53We can get into sort of swayman.
17:55We get into sort of where this team is headed.
17:57But first, there's nothing like watching an NBA or an NHL game live.
18:02The energy in the building, the sounds on the ice or the court, the memories.
18:05You make with family, friends and other fans.
18:07It is unmatched.
18:08And the coolest part is when strangers sitting around, you become your best friends or your enemies.
18:13You can make these memories with game time.
18:15Game time has a new feature called Game Time Picks that makes getting tickets to see your favorite teams play live even easier.
18:21And it filters out the fluff to show you only incredible deals on the great seats.
18:25So you don't have to waste time searching through thousands of tickets.
18:28Curation makes it easier to save more on sports, concerts, comedy, theater.
18:33When I use game time, I also have the flash deals, which help me get discounted prices on really good seats.
18:38Plus, who doesn't love seat views, which give a panoramic view from your seat in the app before you buy?
18:43And I must admit, Connor, I was watching that game on TNT on Friday night and it sounded like a library in there.
18:49But that's TNT, right?
18:51Like the gate. It actually sounded good in there.
18:53Yeah, it did. Yeah.
18:54I mean, as yeah, as exciting as it could be there, it was loud, though, when it needed to.
19:00But I did hear that the audio wasn't on that great.
19:02Also, it doesn't help that they broadcast about seven minutes after after the actual goal.
19:08I tweeted out the coil goal, like real time.
19:10And I got like four replies.
19:11Like, thanks. Thanks, jerk.
19:13Yeah, I was like, all right. Sorry, guys.
19:15I'm sorry. TNT has it like a year behind you guys.
19:18It was very behind.
19:19Didn't realize we had Tuck Everlasting here.
19:20And I was like, I was I was way back.
19:23But it was it was behind.
19:25And my favorite part was with twenty eight point five seconds left in the Bruins,
19:29just batting away at the puck around the net.
19:30The app just crashed like the street crash.
19:34So I was like, perfect.
19:35And then, of course, I see the Bruins tweet like to one loss.
19:39But I'm sick of that.
19:40I'm sick of that. And you should be sick of that, too.
19:41So take the guesswork out of buying tickets with game time
19:44and skip past the app issues and just go to the game.
19:49So download the game time app, create an account and use code CLNS for twenty dollars
19:54off your first first purchase.
19:55Terms apply again.
19:56Create an account and redeem code CLNS for twenty dollars off.
20:00Download game time today.
20:01Connor, what time is it?
20:03Game time.
20:05Kodas is game time.
20:07That's what it is for Spanish speaking on this podcast.
20:10I hope I said that right.
20:10Kodas, I think that's what time is it?
20:13So I have to look at my my AP Spanish.
20:15I feel like a fraud right now, but I never took AP Spanish.
20:18I should have.
20:20I wish I did. Now I wish I did.
20:21I wish I had more Spanish.
20:22I can speak a little bit, but I had to do
20:25a when I first got into BU, like we had like the orientation,
20:29like like a couple of days we had to go on campus and sign up for classes.
20:34And like you had to stay overnight.
20:36I don't know if you did that at UMass, like in the middle of the summer in July.
20:39And one of the things you had to do was you had to sign up
20:41for like your first round of classes.
20:43And so like freshman and sophomore year, you had a certain amount of like
20:46core class you had to do.
20:47So I did like a math class, which sucked.
20:49Like I had to do like a language class.
20:51But you could have you could have avoided getting into the the language class
20:55if you showed enough proficiency in the language from like taking an iSchool.
20:59I was like, oh, yeah, I did like AP Spanish and I did like the test.
21:01And like I clicked one button and it's like you have to take the class.
21:05I was like, oh, Jesus.
21:06So I don't know what I forgot what I did, but I probably was so egregiously wrong.
21:10All that Spanish.
21:11I wrote like I wrote like I wrote like Bonjour.
21:13And they were like, no, you're like, goodbye.
21:17Yeah. Yeah.
21:18I remember those days.
21:19I didn't take this.
21:20I didn't take AP Spanish, but I took sophomore year of college.
21:23I took a Spanish class to solidify the requirement.
21:25It was beginner Spanish.
21:27And the teacher, the professor was like, oh, that's interesting.
21:29You know all this stuff already.
21:30I was like, I don't know.
21:32You know, I watched it on TV a couple of times.
21:34As you can look right through it, that I was completely BSA.
21:38But speaking of Spanish, not really.
21:41But Jeremy Swayman, Jeremy Swayman, he's not Spanish at all,
21:45but had to segue it some way had people were getting pissed.
21:48He were getting pissed that we were not talking like Spanish college.
21:52No, I don't want to hear this.
21:53Thanksgiving sides just like the steering wheel.
21:58Swayman, I think it's interesting
21:59because he did have a good night against Pittsburgh, which he needed.
22:03But he still doesn't look 100% back there.
22:05There are still pucks he's not tracking.
22:07Well, I think it was that first goal he was on his stomach for.
22:11There's that second goal.
22:13He's fighting with Drew O'Connor, right?
22:15Drew O'Connor. Yep.
22:16By the side of the net.
22:17It was like Tim Thomas in the 2010 Winter Classic
22:19when he's like punching Scotty Hartnell and the puck goes through his legs.
22:23Not quite this kind of reminds you of Jordan Bennington a little bit,
22:26which you don't want to be compared to that guy losing the cool
22:28and chasing the play instead of stopping the puck.
22:31But it's yeah, it's funny because Jeremy Swayman is so chill
22:34in these commercial breaks and he looks so chill back there.
22:36But then like the minute someone comes near him, he, you know,
22:39turns into like Cinderella man.
22:41And it's like I just watched the movie, actually phenomenal.
22:44But it's like, you know, and then you add on to the fact
22:47that he just doesn't look himself back there.
22:50And even big saves that he's making,
22:54he's making some, but they're not as smooth.
22:57Rebound control is an amazing.
22:59I think there was a shot last night
23:00that went right to his glove and came right back out.
23:04There's these little things that I know, like I was talking to Pete Blackburn
23:06last week and he's like, you need to let him play through this and you need to.
23:09You know, that's how he's going to get acclimated to the net.
23:11It's like, sure.
23:12But you're also fighting for a playoff spot.
23:14Like if he's not going to be your best chance to win and he wasn't
23:18why you lost to Pittsburgh, but
23:21he hasn't been the reason you've really won anything either.
23:24And so I think that's the tough part where like when we're in,
23:28we're basically in December.
23:30When is that Jeremy Swayman we saw last year going to appear?
23:34Because technically he does not look as technically sound as he was
23:38in previous seasons.
23:39Yeah, no, not yet.
23:41And again, I think he's getting better.
23:42He's not getting.
23:43Yes, he was during like the tail end of Montgomery's tenure here.
23:47So like, again, two goals should be enough to win you most games.
23:51But that's also an indictment on like the state of the team
23:54where you need both the goalies, both Swayman and Corpersolo,
23:58whose expectations have now been raised based on how he's played so far
24:01that these guys have to be nearly perfect to keep you in these games,
24:05which isn't fair.
24:07But if you're in Swayman's case and you're the franchise guy,
24:10you have to be at that standard right now.
24:12And again, that's a little more, you know, you don't have a lot of room
24:15for error there at all, which isn't necessarily fair.
24:18But until the guys start scoring in front and giving you some breathing room,
24:21that's kind of where you have to be, which is just about flawless.
24:25So, yeah, I agree.
24:27Like he's getting better, I think, from where he was early on in the year.
24:30It's not like these games are completely getting away from him.
24:33But, you know, like that game in Dallas down there where it's like,
24:37you know, three goals and it was like four minutes in the second period there.
24:41Like the things aren't getting away from you like that.
24:43But again, when you're the franchise guy, got the new contract in hand,
24:48you again, kind of the same as like the Bruins are just waiting
24:51for like the the two goal to assist post or not game.
24:55Like they desperately need that.
24:56You need like a timely shutout at some point from Swayman here,
25:00which again, it's not like, hey, just get a shutout. Easy.
25:03But when you look at where the team is going right now,
25:06you just really like again, Swayman is now one of your guys
25:09like with Pasternak, with McAvoy, like you need a takeover game from him
25:14at some point here and get him on a roll, because otherwise, like
25:17if you're just hoping for the Bruins start scoring in bunches.
25:20I think we had that optimism going into Friday.
25:23And where did that where did that get you?
25:25You felt really good about where they were after that oil,
25:27that not Oilers, that Highlanders game.
25:30You don't score a lot of goal against knowing them.
25:32They would probably score like a goal against Skinner and the Oilers
25:35the way they're playing as well.
25:36But yes, but that was a game where it felt like momentum is in their favor.
25:42And it shows you right now, like I think you operate on a game by game basis
25:46in terms of what you're projecting for this team's scoring capabilities.
25:50And until that you start seeing a trend, you start seeing some consistency
25:53in terms of guys pulling on the rope offensively.
25:56It's going to have to fall on your goalies and your defense
25:59to really kind of keep you in these games.
26:00And I think as a whole, they they have since Sacco has taken over.
26:04It's been a lot of low scoring games.
26:06Yeah, but you have to be almost perfect right now
26:09because right now the offense just isn't clicking at all.
26:12It isn't.
26:12And again, so it makes 34 saves against Pittsburgh Friday night.
26:16And I do wonder, like if they if the Bruins had won three to two
26:19and Swayvon, you know, carries them to a win at OT or something like
26:22maybe that we're looking, oh, you know, Swayvon did so well.
26:24But I still look at a lot of those saves that he made
26:28and the two goals that went in.
26:29And I'm like, like, not quite there.
26:33Yeah, he's close, but not quite.
26:36Often it's much further than just close.
26:38And the power play is far, far away.
26:42Connor, what can the people look forward to from you
26:45over at the globe and Boston dot com?
26:47Yeah, well, I've covered every step of the way, including
26:50the Bruins Centennial celebration on Sunday.
26:53The vibes aren't exactly sky high going into the game, but no,
26:57I know that they've been, you know, the staff and the people
27:01that do the game game events presentation.
27:03I've been working really hard going to Sunday's game.
27:06So it really should be a great spectacle for anyone there.
27:10Anyone watching on TV, it's going to be like an hour long ceremony.
27:12So tune in for that.
27:13And they've got a lot of videos and other things planned
27:16that I think will be really, really interesting to watch throughout that game.
27:20Hopefully they ended with a win against Montreal.
27:22But whether it's coverage of that or any game the rest of this year,
27:26you can read all my stuff over at Boston dot com and the Boston Globe.
27:29And if you want to follow me on Twitter, you can at Conor Ryan underscore 93.
27:34Go do all that.
27:35Go do all that. Have fun on Sunday.
27:37I will not be there.
27:38I will be recovering from my yes.
27:40Please have more emergency.
27:42Some of our shoes. Yes.
27:44Yeah. You see me at the centennial celebration.
27:47Walk away, get away.
27:50I will not be there.
27:50But anyway, Conor, thank you for joining.
27:53That's kind of right.
27:54I'm Evan Marinovsky.
27:54Brewsby listeners have a great rest of your week.
27:59Have a great rest of your week.
