00:00Lawyers for former Prime Minister Najib Razak told the High Court today that they are considering
00:07calling convicted former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng to testify for the defence in the
00:121MDB trial.
00:14Lead lawyer Shafi Abdullah informed Justice Colin Lawrence-Sekera that a letter had been
00:19extended to Bukit Aman, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Attorney-General's Chambers
00:25for this purpose.
00:27Shafi said that Ng is a potential witness and he will be attending a meeting on the
00:31matter next week.
00:33Ng was sentenced by a New York court to 10 years in prison after a jury found him guilty
00:39of corruption in March last year.
00:42He was repatriated to Malaysia in October 2023 to assist local authorities in the recovery
00:48of 1MDB assets.
00:51Inspector General of Police Raza Rudin Hussain said Ng was still in custody as the police
00:56looked to secure more information from him.
01:00Najib is standing trial on 25 counts of money laundering and abuse of power over the alleged
01:05misuse of 1MDB funds amounting to RM2.28 billion.
