00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Wednesday morning. It's been
00:03a lively night, a mild one, outbreaks of rain. Things change though through today.
00:08We do have a northwesterly wind now kicking in across the western side of
00:11Scotland, turning the air colder. You can see this rain continues across the
00:15north central parts of Scotland, more persistent bursts down towards the
00:19southeast northern areas of England. At the same time a wind warning expires at
00:238 a.m. this morning. We've seen some very strong winds overnight. Eventually they'll
00:28ease just a little bit, still going to be a windy day though. Now across England
00:31and Wales there's a lot of clouds, showery bursts of rain, particularly for
00:34Wales, northern England, but some filaments extending towards the
00:38Midlands as well as the southeast. In fact you'll see some wet weather as we
00:41head through Wednesday and into the early hours of Thursday morning. Before
00:46that though, this rain across the central swathe of the country tends to fizzle out
00:49as we head through to around mid-morning, late morning. The cloud then breaks up, we
00:54could even see some sunshine. Showers move in on this cold northwest wind as
00:59more cloud thickens from the southwest and this will bring some outbreaks of rain
01:04which could turn heavy as we head through into evening rush hour, certainly
01:08for the likes of Plymouth, Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham, even Liverpool and
01:12Manchester through into evening time. The winds will pick up towards the south as
01:17well, so some lively conditions down here, wet and windy weather as we enter
01:21evening rush hour. But look at these temperatures, highest temperatures in
01:24Scotland will be in the morning through the afternoon, taking a bit of a dive as
01:28the air comes in from the north-northwest. Hang on to milder
01:32conditions across much of England and Wales through the afternoon, but
01:35certainly you'll see cloud and also outbreaks of rain. So all in all the air
01:40is going to turn colder, but before that on Wednesday evening, this evening and
01:44overnight, we will see that rain continue across much of England and
01:47Wales and it will be heavy in places. Strong winds as well, particularly along
01:51the south coast as the rain gradually recedes from the north through the early
01:55hours of Thursday morning. That cold air then digs in, the showers in the north
02:00are likely to be wintry and even with a touch of frost in shelter across the
02:04glens of Scotland. Through into the early hours of Thursday morning, the remnants
02:08of that rain just hangs on across Essex and Kent, but it will clear as the sun
02:12rises and then some of us seeing some sunshine. There will be some showers just
02:16moving in on this cold northwest wind. Temperatures will struggle wherever you
02:19are, but some brighter weather as well just coming and going. That's the picture
02:23on Thursday. It quiets down a little bit in terms of wind through Thursday night,
02:28still the risk of a frost into Friday morning before showery rain moves in, yet
02:32again the winds pick up and temperatures recover just a little bit. I'll see you
02:36later.
