00:00For its 47th edition, the Dakar Rally will return to Saudi Arabia for the sixth consecutive
00:09year.
00:10Dakar 2025 will wind back the clock, with terrain and stages designed to evoke the spirit
00:16of the rally's early days in the 1980s.
00:19Let's take a closer look at the race.
00:23This year, the start camp will be located in Bisha, where competitors will spend nearly
00:27a week.
00:28Scrutineering for all participants will take place on January 1st and 2nd.
00:33The rally will officially begin on January 3rd.
00:37Following the podium ceremony, the vehicles will proceed towards the prologue, a short
00:4229-kilometre loop around the Bevoac camp in Bisha.
00:46The first two stages of the race begin in Bisha and feature a groundbreaking 48-hour
00:51chrono stage in Stage 2.
00:53This unique format, covering over 1,000 kilometres across two Dakar days, makes its second appearance
00:59in the rally.
01:01Competitors will enter the stage on the morning of January 5th and, by 5pm, must stop at the
01:07next rest area at the encounter.
01:09There are six rest areas along the route.
01:13On the morning of January 6th, the remaining portion of the timed stage must be completed.
01:18Afterward, competitors will head north to Al-Henakia, before embarking on the first
01:23leg of the marathon stage, which will finish in Al-Ula.
01:27The second leg of the marathon stage will take them east to Hayim for a well-earned
01:31rest day.
01:33The second week of the race will take competitors south to Al-Douadimi, which will serve as
01:37the base for Stage 7.
01:40This is one of five stages in Dakar 2025 where two-wheel and four-wheel competitors
01:46will follow divergent paths.
01:49Car crews will need to navigate without relying on the tracks left by the elite riders, especially
01:54since split courses will also make up the majority of the route from this point onward.
02:00Stage 8 will take competitors east to Riyadh, followed by a short journey south to Harad,
02:05where the massive sand dunes of the Empty Quarter Desert will begin to appear in the
02:09horizon.
02:11The final three days of the rally will be raced exclusively in this region, home to
02:16sand dunes as high as 250 metres.
02:20The rally will finish in Choubaita on January 17th, where the convoy will gather for the
02:25final stage and a mass start, creating a spectacular desert scene before racing toward the ultimate
02:31finishing line.
02:33In total, Dakar competitors will cover nearly 8,000 kilometres over 14 days, including more
02:39than 5,000 kilometres of timed specials.
02:44The Dakar Classic category was a huge media success and captured the hearts of people
02:49both within the Saudi bivouacs and beyond.
02:52These new trailblazers with their vintage vehicles have paved the way for a growing
02:57number of Dakar enthusiasts who have embraced the Classic.
03:01Nearly 95 vehicles are set to start the fifth edition of the Dakar Classic.
03:06The Dakar Classic is a regularity race in which crews must maintain a specific average
03:10speed.
03:12Competitors face three types of tests, regularity, navigation and dunes.
03:19Dakar 2025 will feature a total of 807 competitors, including 209 participants in the Dakar Classic
03:27and 439 vehicles.
