Air passenger traffic in 2024 reached 97.1 million, marking a 14.3% year-on-year increase and signaling continued recovery in the aviation sector, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Speaking at a press conference at the Transport Ministry on Wednesday (Jan 15), Loke attributed the growth to a surge in Asean and international travelers, which recorded increases of 19.8% and 38.9%, respectively.

He noted that all major airports in Malaysia experienced growth last year and highlighted projections from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom), which estimate air travel traffic to rise to between 105.8 million and 112.9 million passengers in 2025.
