00:00This world is full of wonders. Yet everywhere we go, we walk with death.
00:05Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're looking ahead towards exciting games that lie between
00:10indie and triple-a. These are our most anticipated double-a games of 2025.
00:18Suspect is now on foot. We need to end this now. He's running.
00:23But before we dive in, we publish new content all week long.
00:27So be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:32Kingmakers
00:42Sent back to Great Britain circa 1400 to stop a future apocalypse,
00:47Kingmakers has you side with England, Scotland, or Wales during a time of war.
00:53You also bring a variety of modern weapons and vehicles with you to help in each fight.
00:59Developed by Redemption Road Games and published by TinyBuild,
01:03the sandbox game will blend real-time strategy elements with third-person action.
01:08You'll be able to command troops and build defenses, but also barrel through enemy forces
01:13in a car and unleash all kinds of mayhem with shotguns, tasers, grenade launchers,
01:20even airstrikes from fighter jets. It looks like utter absurd fun.
01:26Kingmakers releases in early access in Q1 2025 and will hopefully bring the best of both worlds.
01:38The Altars
01:40When I took this job, I thought things would take a different turn.
01:45Stranded on a strange planet whose sunrise can kill you due to lethal radiation,
01:50this sci-fi survival game from 11-bit studios will task you with exploring,
01:55managing resources, and building a base that will eventually help you escape.
02:00While that sounds like a lot of games, The Altars has a unique element working in its favor.
02:05Your character will have help maintaining the base from several copies of himself.
02:10However, they really are alternate versions, created based on key decisions in his life
02:15that went differently, therefore having different personalities and skill sets.
02:20So players will have to choose which altar is right for which job,
02:24adding another layer to the gameplay hook.
02:27It's another one launching in Q1 2025, so survival fans will want to keep an eye out.
02:35Rematch
02:43If you, like many, have grown bored of traditional sports games,
02:47in this specific case FIFA, the upcoming rematch should definitely pique your interest.
02:53It looks to be a blend of football with the arcade-y style of Rocket League.
02:57It will place players in 5v5 matches, with less of the actual rules or recognizable teams,
03:04and more of a focus on the pure action of the game.
03:07It's being developed by Slow Clap, the same studio praised for its fluid movement mechanics,
03:12in the martial arts-centric Sifu.
03:15If the team can bring the same satisfaction we got from pummeling opponents into a competitive
03:20online sports title, we'll have another multiplayer game to soak up hours of our time come summer 2025.
03:27Eric Sholm The Stolen Dream
03:40With her brother being hunted by the city's police forces, Eric Sholm The Stolen Dream
03:45follows Hannah as she desperately searches for him.
03:48But, along the way, she'll uncover deeper, darker secrets at play.
03:52Published by Nord Current, it's the first release from developer River End Games,
03:57which consists of several industry veterans who worked on EA franchises
04:01like Battlefield and Mirror's Edge.
04:04The focus on stealth looks to make a puzzle out of each environment, accompanied by impressive
04:09production design and visuals that make up the 1900s, Nordic-inspired setting.
04:14The narrative teases already have us interested in the mystery, but we'll have to wait to learn
04:19more since only a Blanket 2025 release window has been given.
04:27Spine
04:39Another game focusing on a sister looking for her missing brother, and with a vague
04:432025 release window, Spine is otherwise entirely unlike Eric Sholm.
04:49Developed and self-published by Neki, it follows a street artist fighting against
04:53an AI regime in a cyberpunk setting.
04:56While dealing with run-ins with various gangs that have overrun the city.
05:00And she's able to do so through a sentient combat implant, the aforementioned Spine.
05:06The gun-fu gameplay looks quick, sleek, and brutal, in part thanks to the team's inspirations,
05:12the John Wick series, and the films of director John Woo.
05:16Additionally, early previews compared its combat to Sifu and the Batman Arkham series.
05:21That's a lot of name drops, and they each have us excited.
05:26The Precinct
05:35Set in the New York-inspired Averno City in 1983, The Precinct puts you in the role of
05:41a rookie cop attempting to clean up his home.
05:44Developer Fallen Tree Games proudly wears its early GTA inspirations on its sleeve,
05:49but the game sounds like it has a lot more going for it.
05:52Players will be confronted by procedurally-generated crimes while delving into the city's darker
05:58corners.
05:59And they will have a multitude of ways to respond to any given event, as well as what
06:04resources to use.
06:05Meaning, your playthrough can go in entirely different directions depending on what you
06:10decide.
06:11That level of choice, coupled with the gritty neo-noir narrative, has us interested to
06:16investigate further when The Precinct releases sometime this year.
06:23Mandragora
06:28Technically, Primal Games Studio is an independent developer, but with funding from publisher
06:34Knights Peak, known for Pathfinder Kingmaker, and a grant from Epic Games, the studio's
06:39upcoming Metroidvania sits nicely in the AA space.
06:43While that genre has grown incredibly popular, Mandragora looks like one worth seeking out.
06:48The dark fantasy setting has bred some incredible visuals, especially in world and creature
06:54design.
06:54It's also infused with some Souls-like DNA to provide a nice challenge, will feature
07:00a branching narrative based on your decisions, and comes with several unique classes to master.
07:06We can't wait to unearth what fantastical horrors lie in wait, and it's the only
07:11game on our list with a definitive release date, April 17th, 2025.
07:19Showa American Story
07:32When it comes to zombie games, developers have to get increasingly more creative to
07:37stand out amongst the horde.
07:39Thankfully, it looks like NECCOM Entertainment is doing just that with Showa American Story.
07:45It's set in an alternate version of the 1980s, in which Japan became a strong economic
07:50and cultural influence over the United States.
07:53We'll play as a young stuntwoman who was murdered, only to be revived under unknown
07:58conditions to find a zombie apocalypse has broken out.
08:02There looks to be a nice variety in enemy types and ways to dispose of them as we trek
08:07across the continent in search of our sister.
08:09What's with all these missing siblings anyway?
08:12Those who grew up in the 80s will likely appreciate the nostalgia, though the ridiculous
08:16violence and mystery at its core should also make for a fun action RPG.
08:29Subnautica 2
08:35The original Subnautica and its follow-up Below Zero are great survival games.
08:40Unless you happen to have a fear of open water or gigantic sea creatures trying to
08:45swallow you up.
08:46The new entry, set to release in Early Access in 2025, looks to expand on everything the
08:51other games did.
08:52One way it will do this is by introducing co-op multiplayer for the first time, with
08:57the option of up to four players.
09:00Another way is through a mechanic that was cut from the original game, which will let
09:04you alter your DNA for new abilities.
09:06We can expect even more in-depth underwater biomes to explore, though what dangers the
09:12developers have planned for us when we get there has us giddy with anticipation.
09:24Claire Obscure Expedition 33
09:28And everyone of that age vanishes into nothingness.
09:32With jaw-dropping visuals, what looks to be a dense turn-based combat system, and a
09:38stacked cast that includes Charlie Cox, Ben Starr, Jennifer English, and Andy Serkis,
09:44you'd be forgiven for thinking that Claire Obscure Expedition 33 is a AAA game.
09:50But it was actually only made by around 30 people.
09:53Set in a dark fantasy world, it will follow a group going up against a powerful sorceress
09:58who, upon writing a number in the sky, magically kills everyone of that age.
10:04Developer Sandfall Interactive set out to create a high-quality turn-based RPG, citing
10:10neglectfulness from AAA studios and inspirations from Japanese releases like Final Fantasy
10:16and Persona.
10:17Everything we've seen has us craving more.
10:21It looks remarkable, the premise is enticing, and the reactive elements like dodging and
10:26parrying brings a level of excitement to combat.
10:29Whenever it releases this year, we'll be sure to check it out.
10:41What AA game are you looking forward to the most in 2025?
