00:00The country's headline inflation is still stable at 2.9 percent.
00:24The country's headline inflation is still stable at 2.9 percent this January 2025.
00:32The same number is expected this December 2024, according to the latest report of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
00:39The main contributors to the overall inflation are food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have 3.8 percent inflation and 50.3 percent share.
00:51Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels have 2.2 percent inflation and 16.5 percent share.
01:00Restaurants and accommodation services have 3.2 percent inflation and 10.8 percent share.
01:08Five of the main commodities contributing to the overall inflation are tomatoes, which have 155.7 percent inflation.
01:17Restaurants, cafes, and others have 3.3 percent inflation.
01:22Renting a house has 2.0 percent inflation.
01:25Pork has 8.4 percent inflation.
01:29Chicken has 8.4 percent inflation.
01:33Meanwhile, some products have a slower price increase.
01:38Corn has 3.6 percent inflation.
01:41Flour, bread, and other products have 1.7 percent inflation.
01:46Fruits and peanuts have 6.5 percent inflation.
01:51Negative 2.3 percent inflation in rice is also a positive news, which shows a decrease in prices since December 2024.
02:00We are tracking three items, regular meal, wheel meal, and special rice.
02:04For all the three items under rice, the inflation rate is negative year on year and month on month.
02:13In the National Capital Region or NCR, the inflation rate was 2.8 percent in January 2025.
02:20In the regions outside the NCR, this is the highest inflation in Region 2 or Cagayan Valley, 5.1 percent from 4.6 percent in December 2024.
02:31The lowest inflation in Region 12 or Soxargen, 1.1 percent from 1.2 percent in December 2024.
02:40According to the National Economic and Development Authority, Secretary Arsenio Balisacan,
02:44a stable inflation rate proves that the government's programs are effective in maintaining the prices of goods
