00:00The country has maintained a low inflation in goods and services this January, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
00:07Like rice, where the lowest price of it was recorded, Bernard Ferrer of PTV in the news for the country.
00:17The country's headline inflation remains stable at 2.9% this January 2025.
00:23The same is expected this December 2024, according to the latest report of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
00:30The main contributors to the overall inflation are food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have 3.8% inflation and 50.3% share.
00:42Next is housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, 2.2% inflation and 16.5% share.
00:51And restaurants and accommodation services, 3.2% inflation and 10.8% share.
00:59Five of the main commodities that contributed to the overall inflation are tomatoes, 155.7% inflation.
01:08Restaurants, cafes and others, 3.3% inflation.
01:13Renting a house, 2.0% inflation.
01:17Pork, 8.4% inflation.
01:20Chicken, 8.4% inflation.
01:24Meanwhile, some products recorded a slower price increase.
01:29Corn, 3.6% inflation.
01:32Flour, bread and other products, 1.7% inflation.
01:37Fruits and beans, 6.5% inflation.
01:42A positive news is the expected negative 2.3% inflation in rice, which showed a decrease in price since December 2024.
01:51We are tracking three items, regular meal, wheel meal and special rice.
01:55For all the three items under rice, the inflation rate is negative year on year and month on month.
02:05In the National Capital Region or NCR, inflation decreased to 2.8% in January 2025.
02:12In the regions outside the NCR, the highest inflation was in Region 2 or Cagayan Valley, 5.1% to 4.6% in December 2024.
02:23The lowest inflation was in Region 12 or Soxargen, 1.1% to 1.2% in December 2024.
02:31National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said that a stable inflation rate is a proof that the government's programs are effective in maintaining the prices of goods in line with the target of the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.
