00:00Haters are gonna hate. But will Taylor Swift be able to shake it off after getting booed
00:04at Super Bowl 59?
00:06It's just a lot of a lot.
00:08Yeah, it's really hard to say, especially considering how brutal it actually was. It
00:13wasn't just a few people scattered here and there throughout the crowd. It was a pretty
00:17united condemnation of the superstar billionaire when she showed up on the Jumbotron screen.
00:22As the camera remained on the singer-songwriter and the boos continued, she eventually seemed
00:26to notice the crowd's reaction, but she didn't really seem to get that it was directed at
00:30her. Or did she?
00:32One user seemed to think so, quipping,
00:34"'It was in that moment she realized that everyone doesn't love her.'"
00:37An ex-commenter refused to believe that Swift didn't realize the boos were all for her.
00:42They wrote,
00:43"'Is she really so oblivious? The NFL fanbase isn't her fanbase. Why would people cheer
00:47for her?'
00:48Then there were those who gave Swift the benefit of the doubt and reckoned that she legitimately
00:52didn't know what was going on. As one user said,
00:55"'I assume she didn't know she was on screen, which is probably why she was confused.'"
00:59This could be the case, especially since she's mentioned before how she doesn't always know
01:03when she's on screen. In her 2023 Time Person of the Year profile, the pop star talked about
01:09all the attention, sometimes negative, that she gets while attending Travis Kelce's NFL
01:13games. She pointed out,
01:15"'There's a camera like a half mile away and you don't know where it is and you have no
01:19idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast. I have no awareness of if I'm being
01:23shown too much and f---- off a few dads, brads, and chads.'"
01:27But internet users have another theory to discuss. It could have a little something
01:32to do with President Donald Trump. When the Jumbotron camera panned to the president,
01:36he seemed to be getting more cheers than Swift. As one user wrote on X, formerly known as
01:40Twitter,
01:41"'Trump cheered, Swift booed. What a time to be alive!'
01:44"'I mean, it really is.'"
01:46Trump has long made his jealousy of Swift crystal clear. In one of his many hate-filled
01:49posts on Truth Social, the divisive politician put it bluntly,
01:53"'I hate Taylor Swift!'
01:54Unsurprisingly, Trump took to Truth Social shortly after the game to pour salt on the
01:59wound and gloat about the negative reaction, writing,
02:01"'The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She
02:05got booed out of the stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving.'
02:09If it feels kind of unfair that the President of the United States is publicly targeting
02:13a private citizen over her political views, you're not alone. Former Ohio Senator Nina
02:19Turner summed it up perfectly on X,
02:21"'Americans can't afford housing or health care, and our president is publicly beefing
02:25with Taylor Swift!'
02:26It could also simply be that the crowd was more heavily skewed towards the Eagles, and
02:30so Swift, a high-profile supporter of the Chiefs, would understandably be a target of
02:34hate.
02:35And let's be real here — Eagles fans have a pretty bad reputation when it comes to booing
02:39and just generally being awful. Hip-hop artist Flavor Flav touched on this, referencing another
02:45infamous boo attack that happened way back in 1968, saying,
02:49"'Eagles fans will boo anyone. Remember when they booed and attacked Santa Claus? Santa
02:54Claus! The only person who might bring more spirit and joy to people than Taylor Swift.'"
02:58He also advised Swift to just shake it off. But given that the Grammy winner has built
03:02a massive, billion-dollar empire, she was likely looking at the crowd and thinking to
03:07herself,
03:08"'You need to calm down.'"
