00:44And moving day.
00:46Sounds really good.
00:47For Jamie's precious.
00:49There, that's it.
00:56In Northern Alberta.
00:58Crikey, that wind's cold.
01:04Sub-zero temperatures plunge the region into a deep freeze.
01:09We can get to minus 60.
01:12It's brutally, brutally cold.
01:16A thousand kilometres from home.
01:19Outside Grand Prairie.
01:21Lots of black ice.
01:23Jamie Davis's new 50-tonne HR100 is on a long haul.
01:31You've got to take a truck to the coast, you know, through mountain passes and storm warnings on all of the forecasts,
01:37so it could be a bit of a nightmare trip.
01:41With the rotator down, basically we're struggling with what equipment we have.
01:46But I'm glad I got the 50-tonne.
01:54Just over a year ago, Jamie's prized LA rotator returned to home base.
02:02That's where it got hit.
02:04Bang, right there.
02:05Wow.
02:06Damaged after a brutal crash.
02:09It's worth painting, it's worth fixing.
02:11We'll make it good as new.
02:20Today, Jamie's counting on HR100 to make the 11-hour journey back home.
02:28There's nothing better than getting in the truck, heading out and turn the tunes on and you've got nothing to worry about.
02:40Let's eat then.
02:41But three hours into the drive...
02:45Smell it burning, something burning.
02:49Jamie senses trouble.
02:51Temperature in the engine's going right up. I'll have to pull over.
02:56If I blew an engine in this truck right now, it'd be catastrophic.
03:00If I push it too much, we overheat, I could lose an engine.
03:06Hot, hot, hot.
03:10That's a big deal.
03:12This don't look good.
03:15Unbelievable.
03:40An hour east of the Rocky Mountains...
03:44Might be one of them long days.
03:46Jamie's Alberta long haul...
03:48We just blew a fan belt.
03:50Is heating up.
03:52So the belt went off and it started to get hot.
03:55Basically, your cooling system is going to overheat.
03:58We're in a pretty remote area here, minus 38, so I have to try to just get off this highway.
04:06But with over 700 kilometres to his yard in Hope...
04:11Hopefully, we can let the engine cool down and limp it into the next closest town and get repaired.
04:17Jamie looks to take advantage of the freezing weather.
04:23Cold air and the cool temperatures are actually helping me keep the truck cool.
04:27The engine should cool down pretty quick.
04:29Wait a few minutes. We've got no cab heat now.
04:32But it's a 37 kilometre run from here into the nearest town.
04:40I've got no heat in the truck now, so I'm going to just get suited up a little bit.
04:46But even at minus 40 degrees...
04:51With a wind chill...
04:53We're getting up to 200 degrees on the engine oil now.
04:56HR100's engine continues to heat up.
05:00I'm trying to get as far as I can, and hopefully I don't need to get towed.
05:05My air's going down.
05:07Oh, now I've got two troubles.
05:11The California wrecker...
05:13I'm having problems with the brakes, too.
05:16The weather's beating me up.
05:18Is no match for the Alberta cold.
05:21I have no air now, so I can't go anywhere. The brakes are locked on.
05:24You know, I'm stuck.
05:28So there's a blockage somewhere in the line, maybe some condensation.
05:33Winter's challenging for everybody.
05:35The air compressor's not building air, so we're at zero.
05:39Everything becomes two to three times harder than it should be.
05:44Unreal.
05:47It's getting pretty bleak.
05:49It's getting pretty bleak.
05:52Locked brakes in sub-zero temperatures...
05:56We've done everything we can do.
05:59...are the final straw.
06:02We're in cold weather. The water pump's gone.
06:05I have no air.
06:07I was lucky just to get to the side of the road.
06:10I gave it a valiant effort, but I waved the white flag.
06:16Hey, what do you got for gear?
06:19Jamie calls a local tow company.
06:22Usually you're the person out helping people.
06:25Heavy wreckers on her.
06:28But in this case, I'm needing help.
06:30Same fitting? Straight on. Perfect.
06:33I'm happy that I'm not in the ditch or having any kind of worse problems.
06:38But repairs to the wrecker will take days.
06:43In the long-haul business, 99% of the time we're on time and we get it there.
06:48But this is going to take a while.
06:51The tow truck's picking up the tow truck.
06:55Well, that sucks.
07:17This is a wet pavement.
07:20850 kilometers southwest...
07:24That's an understatement.
07:27...in B.C.'s Fraser Valley...
07:32...an aggressive towing rotator heads to an unusual call...
07:37It is raining!
07:40...with lead operator Chris Mervin.
07:44We're going to head over to Pitt River.
07:46We got a call from a company we do business with.
07:48He's got a sunk boat or something.
07:51Assisting Merv tonight...
07:53I definitely think we're going to get wet.
07:55Jayden did.
07:56This is my first marine salvage job.
07:59Watching Merv do something like this is pretty interesting.
08:01He's got lots of experience.
08:04Arriving at the banks of the Pitt River...
08:08Let's see what we got.
08:10Merv and Jayden...
08:12It's an old wooden scow.
08:14...are met by the marine salvage crew...
08:18The bow's floating.
08:20...prepping for tonight's unique recovery job.
08:24We got the wooden scow about 80 feet offshore right now.
08:29What are you pulling out?
08:31Yeah, a boat.
08:35The wooden scow was used for transport along the river...
08:40...but abandoned for years.
08:45It became submerged.
08:49Leading the salvage operation...
08:51So the thing's, I don't know, it's probably around 40 feet long.
08:55Map Props Marine's owner and manager, Jeremy Birch.
09:01It's been a neglected site for years.
09:04Quite a few items have already been removed.
09:07This is basically the last item that's been left there.
09:10We've got our two docks.
09:12You're hoping to land it on that?
09:13Yeah.
09:14Once you get it up and on, you're done,
09:16and then we'll wait until the flood tide and we'll get it out of here.
09:19Try to just get it in one shot, get everything from the area.
09:26OK, grab one, Kai.
09:28Let's go.
09:29To reach the wreck, Merv will need to extend his winch lines over 150 feet.
09:37For the distance, we're trying to keep it as a single line,
09:39just to try to get it closer to shore.
09:43But rigging to the sunken wreck must be done by boat.
09:50We're relying on Jeremy and his guys to hook up to something
09:54that's going to put up with the amount of strain we're going to put on it.
09:58Leaning on the Marine crew's experience...
10:01OK, drop it down right there.
10:04They make use of every advantage they can get.
10:08It's low tide, so got more exposure, more area to grab.
10:13OK, get it clear.
10:19With two single lines cast from the rotator to the scow,
10:25they'll winch the wreck onto docks,
10:29then sail it away for removal.
10:35OK, Merv, you want to start taking it in?
10:38Merv...
10:39OK.
10:40...starts reeling in the wreck.
10:47It's coming.
10:52Wow.
10:59Just keep coming.
11:02But getting the 40-foot scow up onto the docks...
11:07It's getting pretty heavy right there.
11:10...is pushing the 50-ton rotator to the limit.
11:15There's a lot of unknowns when you can't see what this is pulling up against.
11:19It's a big old scow.
11:22And we can't tell if it's stuck in the mud or if it's full of silt.
11:26It's generally a big guessing game.
11:37They're off the ground on the passenger side.
11:47He's rolling the rotator over.
11:49OK.
11:51You don't generally see the wheels of a rotator come up off the ground.
11:54They pretty much sit and they stay sat.
11:57It's such a high leverage point, right? Big lever.
12:02If we keep pulling this thing up, we're going to be in trouble.
12:04That's about all she's going to go here, boys.
12:16On the Coquihalla, just north of Merritt...
12:27...a catastrophic collision between semis.
12:35On route, a reliable 35-ton.
12:40It is slushy and icy and everything else.
12:44Heavy operator Bob Potts is back in the saddle.
12:50I love going out there and doing my recoveries.
12:55It feels great to get back to work.
12:58But the highway...
13:00Actually, where we are right now, this is where someone rear-ended me.
13:06...is also a painful reminder of Bob's own crash.
13:12What happened to me, I was in shock.
13:19There's parts everywhere.
13:22Weeks ago...
13:24Wow.
13:26Bob was rear-ended while hauling a wreck.
13:28Glad you're okay, Bob.
13:30Oh, me too.
13:33Tonight...
13:35I just hope where we're going, no one else is hurt.
13:39Trauma is hard to shake.
13:41And each individual deals with these things differently.
13:45Following behind in a highway tractor...
13:49Bob's a really interesting character.
13:52...Merritt Regional Manager, Lane Perry.
13:56I worked with him at a different tow company when I was younger.
14:00Ironic, I'm his boss now.
14:03I'm quite pleased to see Bob back to work.
14:07Perfect time, because we definitely need him.
14:11Arriving on scene...
14:17Oh, wow.
14:19Looks like truck is destroyed.
14:21Lane and Bob take in the devastating rear-ender.
14:26Excuse my language, but...
14:29It's friggin' rigged.
14:32Didn't look like a truck anymore.
14:36I'm just blown away that the driver was able to get out of there.
14:51They're just going to move the trailer now.
14:54As the other semi involved is removed...
14:58We may be able to just yard it out.
15:01I'm just trying to jump in and get this road opened.
15:05Bob and Lane focus...
15:07Okay.
15:09...on the demolished tractor and its trailer.
15:13We're going to pull it out together.
15:18Yeah, to the frame.
15:21Yeah, perfect.
15:27Just tell me when.
15:31Tighten it up.
15:34Okay, see how it responds to tugging on it.
15:45It's moving.
15:51Yeah, boy.
15:54I like it.
15:57A little more.
16:01Hang on, Bob.
16:04The trailer is now on the road.
16:07We could probably just take the one line of the snatch and move it over here.
16:12We're going to try and pull the front of the tractor up onto the road.
16:15But rigging to the mangled cab comes with risk.
16:21If you do a bad hookup, it could hurt you.
16:24It could hurt somebody else.
16:29We'll pull on mainly on the truck here anyway.
16:32Okay, I'll do that right now.
16:34I've been there, and I don't want to get Lane hurt or myself.
16:40Wow.
16:44Everything's just so brittle.
16:46It's definitely going to be a challenge to get it up onto the road.
16:53Wow, holy.
16:58It's going to be a challenge.
17:00It's going to be a challenge.
17:02It's going to be a challenge.
17:04It's going to be a challenge.
17:06It's going to be a challenge.
17:07It's going to be a challenge.
17:21300 kilometers southwest.
17:25We're off the ground on the passenger side.
17:28No way.
17:30On the Pitt River.
17:33That's about all she's going to go here, boys.
17:35Team Aggressive's sunken scow...
17:38Okay, yeah, you moved it up pretty good.
17:42...is hung up.
17:45Usually we just drag them to shore and then Bob's your uncle,
17:48but we were trying to land it on top of barges.
17:51It is a little bit more resistance for us dragging it up and out of here.
17:55Yeah, if we can force it under there, it might help pick a little.
17:59Yeah, you betcha. Okay.
18:01We are going to have to re-rig so Bertha is going more to a lift than she is pull.
18:05You know what? We'll cut a hole in the bottom.
18:08Do it a helping hand.
18:21With a new pull point, they'll re-rig to the underside
18:26to help lift the scow onto the docks.
18:33Merv's going to give her another go here.
18:40We're going to keep trying to do what we can.
18:43Giving up's never really an option.
18:48Moving a bit.
18:50Happy?
18:56Yeah.
19:04Be careful of them lines.
19:06With just single lines, we're operating with really low working load limits.
19:13That's sinking pretty good, Merv.
19:15Doing some landscaping.
19:17Judging by the way Bertha's standing up on her side,
19:20we're obviously a little above that working load limit.
19:23That's a lot of pressure.
19:24Merv.
19:26I'm letting out on one, pulling on the other.
19:28Changes tactics.
19:30We're trying to pop back on her and help her over.
19:33Yeah.
19:40Whoa!
19:44Make sure you guys got your water weights.
19:47On the pit river.
19:51Whoa!
19:54A submerged scow.
19:59I think the strap might go.
20:02Refuses to resurface.
20:05Broken.
20:07Pretty crazy saying it's broken.
20:09It's not supposed to be like that.
20:11It's supposed to be like that.
20:14Not something we tend to see.
20:16Whacked the truck pretty good.
20:18Decent cable park in here.
20:21Bertha.
20:24We've come to the end of the maximum safe working load of this strap
20:28and it sent everything back to Bertha.
20:31Paddle scops.
20:34And we are struggling.
20:37The team pauses.
20:39I just don't know why the ascent's so heavy.
20:41To reassess the recovery.
20:44Oh, man.
20:46For making no headway and running into the night.
20:49They make the decision.
20:51Okay, well, why don't you let it go?
20:54Shut her down.
20:57To call it a night.
20:59In the interest of safety and brain cells,
21:03we'll shut her down and try it again.
21:08For some reason, that thing just isn't acting the way they usually do.
21:15But the crew will be back tomorrow.
21:19We're definitely not walking away defeated.
21:21We've just got to enact another plan.
21:24And then we're going to come back and give her our best again.
21:35285 kilometers northeast.
21:38There she goes.
21:41On the Coquihalla.
21:43Wow.
21:45Holy.
21:47A slip chain.
21:49Did that break?
21:51It let go on the bumper.
21:54As Lane and Bob racing to clear the highway.
21:59An accident as bad as this one, rigging is always tricky.
22:04I'm just wrapped right around the frame now.
22:08All right, tighten it up, Bob.
22:10With the hook reset.
22:13See how we do.
22:15They try again.
22:22Hopefully it works.
22:31The total tractor.
22:35Right on.
22:40Is finally back on the road.
22:44Wow, there's nothing left of this thing, man.
22:48We got the truck out of the ditch.
22:49And now we have to separate it.
22:57Given how structurally compromised this truck is.
23:02Definitely makes things a little harder.
23:09Okay, I'll try that.
23:12We have to make this safe to tow down the highway.
23:15Because if something falls off.
23:17Because if something falls off, it could hurt somebody.
23:20Okay, now boom up.
23:26Okay.
23:30With a totaled unit removed.
23:36Lane backs in with his tractor to take away the trailer.
23:41It's a lot of work for something to prep to go down the highway.
23:44Good job, Lane.
23:49As the team prepares to leave.
23:52Off we go.
23:56The image of the destroyed tractor weighs on everyone's mind.
24:03When I got into the accident, I could have been crippled.
24:06Never work again.
24:09I feel really lucky.
24:11I'm just so happy that everybody gets to go home at the end of the day.
24:17All cleaned up again.
24:19On to the next.
24:23It's our whole teamwork together.
24:26And that's key.
24:27And that's key.
24:50The next morning on the Pitt River.
24:54It's a beautiful day for victory.
24:57Mad props marine salvage.
25:00All right, let's do this.
25:02And aggressive towing are back.
25:05We're going to have to get squared up to it.
25:07For round two with a stubborn scow.
25:11We're just looking to get this thing pulled back to land now.
25:17We've removed the docks from the area.
25:19It makes more sense to haul it up right where it's at.
25:22So if we can get one chain in a loop around that end where the blue is.
25:28Definitely a lot nicer working during the day.
25:31We can actually see what we're pulling on.
25:33With the rotator positioned straight on for more leverage.
25:38We're going to put some snatch blocks in lines and some big old chains.
25:42Merv can now double his pulling capacity.
25:46Grab my remote, please.
25:48See what we can move.
25:53Okay, Merv, you want to start taking it in?
25:55Yes, sir.
25:58Let's go.
26:00It's moving.
26:02Oh, today is a good day.
26:05Merv makes landfall.
26:10Okay, let's back up a few feet here, I guess.
26:13But now on shore.
26:15Pulling the 40-foot scow.
26:18Come on.
26:20Comes with new challenges.
26:23The resistance we're running into, more or less, is just drag against the bank.
26:28It's heavy-duty creosote lumber.
26:31Built in the old days, so they built things real heavy, heavy-duty.
26:37There we go.
26:39But the rotator and the snatch blocks come through.
26:43Looking way better.
26:45It's crazy how deep it was.
26:48Holy.
26:49As the scow emerges from the river.
26:52There's a lot of boat down there, buddy.
26:55It's more than the team bargained for.
26:58Well, it turned out to be 72 feet.
27:02Boat for days.
27:04But the bigger boat.
27:06If that chain lets rip, that block's in perfect distance to pick somebody's head off.
27:10Will test the limits of their rigging.
27:13Pretty worried that something's going to break or something's going to snap.
27:16Watch yourself, buddy.
27:17Watch yourself, buddy.
27:19I don't want to buy you a new head.
27:30Abort.
27:33Boat for days.
27:36On the Pitt River.
27:38Watch yourself, buddy.
27:40I don't want to buy you a new head.
27:42Aggressive shoreline haul-out.
27:48Abort.
27:50Is suddenly sidelined.
27:59Was it the chain?
28:03Yeah.
28:05You're obviously pulling pretty good when you can send a snatch block flying through the air.
28:10Garbage.
28:12Is that the tail end of it right there?
28:14The entire wreck is now on shore.
28:19It's a lot bigger than I thought.
28:22But they've run out of room.
28:25We really don't have too much of an area to put it.
28:28So the team...
28:30They'll have to cut section off. They'll make it lighter.
28:33Improvises using an excavator Jeremy brought on site.
28:44Okay.
28:46They'll work in sections...
28:50To bring it up the bank.
29:00We're winning.
29:07All we can do is just keep pulling it up as far as we can.
29:14Yeah, we'll stop her there to give them some room to work.
29:16Yeah, you bet.
29:20And then crush that section and re-rig and pull it back up some more.
29:25Work our way through it.
29:29Here she comes.
29:31As the last section of the scow makes its way...
29:36It snapped her right off.
29:38The two-day mystery...
29:40It's an old piling.
29:41Breaches the surface.
29:43That's it.
29:45This is what was holding us up last night.
29:48Pilings are used for mooring tie-ups...
29:51For scows and log booms.
29:54Surprise!
29:56Designed to be immovable...
30:00The piling ultimately buckled against Merv's 50-ton rotator.
30:06Just the fact that we managed to exert enough force to shear that piling off and still drag that barge to shore is a pretty amazing feat.
30:16We got all kinds of surprises down here.
30:20The scow fully on dry land.
30:23Aggressive's job is done.
30:26It's great. Always is. And until the next one, buddy.
30:31There's no such thing as can't working with Merv.
30:33He doesn't give up easy.
30:34So, we've got a lot in common that way.
30:37You're the go-to guy.
30:39We've won this one. Off to the next one.
30:41Bertha definitely has a couple war rooms from this job.
30:44But, in the end, I think it's still a win-win.
30:50Nice work.
31:00850 kilometers northeast...
31:03In Hinton, Alberta...
31:06Thank you very much. Thanks for looking after us.
31:09Yeah, you bet.
31:11See you later. Thank you.
31:13Jamie's long haul...
31:15I'm picking up the truck from the breakdown.
31:18Is back on track.
31:24We got the 50-ton fixed up.
31:27I'm happy to be back doing business again.
31:29I'm happy to be back doing business again and getting things on the go.
31:35Feels good to get back in her again.
31:38Jamie Davis, don't call me.
31:44Three hours down the road...
31:47Spooky. Really spooky.
31:50Jamie approaches a familiar stretch of highway.
31:54We're just coming along the area where I hit the black ice and...
31:56wrecked the rotator last year.
31:59That's where it happened, right there.
32:08It was a sheet of ice.
32:11One year ago, Jamie's L.A. rotator crashed...
32:16on this same stretch of highway.
32:19Holy... cab blown right off the back end.
32:22Really disappointing and just a bad day for me.
32:26Oh, that sucked.
32:30Pulled over to collect himself...
32:33Jamie makes a phone call.
32:37Hello?
32:39Hey.
32:41You'll never believe where I just drove by.
32:44You know, where I crashed the rotator?
32:47It just gives me butterflies every time I get a call.
32:50It gives me butterflies every time I go by there.
32:53More goes on up there than you really think after you have a crash.
32:57And it takes a long time to get over it.
33:00Got out of bed this morning early and I'm driving early again,
33:03you know, when the black ice is still on the road and I'm thinking, oh no.
33:06Sherry and I talk about things that aren't going right or problems.
33:09We rely on each other when things are bad.
33:12And, you know, that's important.
33:15I'm glad that at least you got to drive by it and not go back in there.
33:18Yeah.
33:20On the tough days, we just talk about things and try and get through it.
33:25Nice to hear your voice.
33:27Yeah, you too. Have a good day.
33:29Bye.
33:33Back on the road,
33:36Jamie heads for home.
33:39It's hard to put the crash behind me.
33:42Yes, it's fading, but I don't know if I'm going to ever get over that.
33:48It scares me, I'll tell you that. It really does.
33:58How's that road looking behind you there?
34:01In eastern B.C.
34:04She's slippery.
34:06On the doorstep of the Rocky Mountains,
34:10a Jamie Davis-towing 12-ton heads to a back-road job.
34:16I don't know really what we're going into here.
34:19With operator A.J. Case.
34:22That's kind of why I over-packed on my chains.
34:25Really cold overnight, but where we're going today is going to be pretty dang icy.
34:33A truck hauling firewood, sidelined on a delivery.
34:40We're kind of in a remote area.
34:42We're kind of in a remote area.
34:45If you don't get firewood delivered, you're not going to have heat.
34:48Oh.
34:50Also unseen.
34:52Yeah, they got up that far and then started sliding down and spinning and probably panicked a little.
34:59The truck's owner.
35:02How much firewood you got in?
35:041,300 pounds.
35:06This thing looks really good, like there's no damage whatsoever.
35:09But with little room on the narrow road.
35:13Snatch block through that tree to the front and pull and anchor the back.
35:19A.J. turns to his surroundings.
35:23I'm anchoring and redirecting off of the tree.
35:26That should be good.
35:28I'm going to go across the way to a tree with a snatch block coming back towards the front of the truck.
35:39And I'm going to run my passenger sideline directly across down to the rear of the truck.
35:46And basically slingshot it right out of the ditch.
35:51There we go.
35:54Using a handheld remote.
35:57I just hope we don't pull that tree out of the ground.
36:00A.J. must coordinate both of his windshields.
36:04I'm going to pull that tree out of the ditch.
36:07I'm going to pull that tree out of the ditch.
36:10I'm going to pull that tree out of the ditch.
36:13I'm going to pull that tree out of the ditch.
36:15The catch lines for the 10,000 pound pull.
36:21There's a lot on the line. You've got to pay attention to what you're doing.
36:25Things can take a turn really damn quick.
36:29My main goal is to get it out of here without doing any further damage.
36:37I'm watching the customer's truck to make sure it's not binding on anything.
36:45There we go.
36:59Finally.
37:00Perfect.
37:01The firewood truck is back on track.
37:04And he's coming right out, which is really good news.
37:08And on its way to its next delivery.
37:12Recovery went really well.
37:13No damage done to the customer's vehicle.
37:16And getting this load of firewood out of the ditch and to the customer is pretty ideal
37:20so the people can stay warm.
37:22Be safe, man, we'll catch you another day.
37:29Beautiful sunny day.
37:32To the southeast, in Hope, B.C.
37:36Oh, it's nice to be getting in here, you know.
37:41After a thousand kilometers, and delayed for days.
37:45It'll be good to be in my own bed tonight and relaxed.
37:50Jamie and his 50 ton are finally back to base.
37:54It's really nice to get the truck back.
37:57Nice to be back home.
37:58Hey.
37:59Nice to see you.
38:00I made it.
38:01I'm really glad that he made it home.
38:04Give me another one.
38:05Okay.
38:06You know, everyone's safe.
38:07Well, come on out of the seat by the fire and relax.
38:11I need to just sit and zone out for a while.
38:15After the accident, it's taken more than a year to shake it and get your game on again,
38:21get your nerves back.
38:22Yesterday was a bad day, tomorrow's a new day.
38:26I'll sleep good now, I'm home.
38:27Yay.
38:28Anybody tell me how the number three eastbound is tonight.
38:37As night falls on the Crow's Nest Highway, a Jamie Davis towing special envoy heads
38:47out.
38:48We're on the way to highway three.
38:51With AJ on a final mission for the day.
38:55We're well below zero degrees tonight.
38:58But tonight's job.
38:59I think we're coming up on them pretty quick here.
39:03There'll be a step in a different direction.
39:06Pedestrian walking on the southbound side.
39:10Is there an accident or something?
39:15On highway three.
39:18Nope.
39:20AJ hones in on his target.
39:24Are my eyes deceiving me?
39:28A veteran on a special mission.
39:31How you doing?
39:34Good, brother, how you doing?
39:37Getting cold, but I'm still kicking.
39:40What's the story here?
39:41Pedestrian walking on the southbound side.
39:48For weeks, Marcus Jefferson has been on a march across Canada to raise
39:57awareness for mental health.
40:00I was serving in the military.
40:03That's where I found endurance sport.
40:05It alleviates my mental stress.
40:07And I just want to share that with the world through physical activity.
40:10A long ways to go.
40:1322,000 more.
40:16Tonight, AJ's keeping him company.
40:20One of the things I really respect about what you're doing is, as a tow truck driver and
40:25being, sometimes you're first on the scene to an accident.
40:29We see some pretty gruesome stuff.
40:31And it's okay to talk about it, right?
40:33With first responders, you guys, anybody that's seen anything traumatic in their life,
40:38a lot of people don't want to open up about it.
40:40It's a stigma.
40:41And I just want people to know that they can get over their traumatic events.
40:45Talking about it's the only way to get through to that.
40:48Real experiences and connecting with people.
40:51If you can share your stories with somebody that's experienced something similar,
40:54that's helped me a lot.
40:56I'm glad I had the pleasure of coming down to talk to you.
40:59The pleasure's all mine, brother.
41:01Before saying goodbye, AJ leaves a parting gift.
41:06You know what? I've got more of these at home.
41:08So, I'll give you this one.
41:10Oh, man. Right on, brother.
41:12I feel better knowing that he's going to be seen.
41:16Man, I appreciate this.
41:18This is going to go a long ways, bro.
41:19Yeah, man.
41:20You have a good one, buddy.
41:21I honestly do wish him the best.
41:23And that this does raise awareness.
41:38Not bad at all. It's pretty clear.
41:41The next day,
41:44in the Fraser Valley,
41:46Jamie pays a visit
41:49Looking real good.
41:50to his prized LA Rotator.
41:53The Rotator's, you know, had its repairs done,
41:56and it's ready now to go to the body shop.
42:05Sounds really good.
42:10When I see the rebuilding of the Rotator,
42:14it's kind of the brightness of the sunshine in my day.
42:17Loading it onto a tilting trailer.
42:21There?
42:22That's it.
42:24Jamie is sending it off
42:27for its next stage of repairs.
42:30It looks like hell to most people right now,
42:33but I can see we're all beautiful and back together again,
42:36and I just can't wait.
42:39It's made me realize that,
42:41yes, there's bad days,
42:43but there's also good days.
42:46Don't lose any sleep over your bad days,
42:48because the good ones are just around the corner.
42:54Yee-haw, there's Jamie, dude.
42:58Another lovely day in DC.
43:03Next time, on Highway Through Hell.
43:06Be ready for it to shift.
43:07Mangled metal.
43:09Reliable makes the cut.
43:11Whoa!
43:12Give it a little tug and see what happens.
43:14A sideways semi.
43:15Oh!
43:16Has Otto
43:17That sucks.
43:18over the edge.
43:20Coming down.
43:21Oh, there's a car right there.
43:23And training day.
43:25Watch yourself when you get to the end.
43:27With the twins.
43:28No, no.
43:29You're going to go in the ditch.
43:30Watch yourself when you get to the end.
43:32With the twins.
43:33No, no.
43:34You're going to go in the ditch.
44:00You're going to go in the ditch.
