00:00Joe Lumberg, as we get you ready for next week, of course, last week at this time we were talking about how the severe weather would be much less.
00:08That certainly has been the case. Areas that got flooded out have been mostly dry this week, Joe.
00:14Yeah, and it looks like that's going to continue by and large as we go in the next week.
00:18I think the highlighter for next week is that here we go again. It's like deja vu all over again.
00:23Two more shots of Arctic air or some really cold air will work their way down through the Mississippi River Valley on to the eastern seaboard and all the way down to the Gulf Coast as well.
00:33There is a severe weather threat on the table for Thursday and maybe into Friday as a cold front comes across the country with that second surge of Arctic air or cold air behind it.
00:42Good news in the West, warm and dry with lots of sunshine to enjoy.
00:45Here's the pattern as we go into next week and you can kind of see there's a split of the jet stream.
00:50Let's focus on the northern branch in here and you can see the first shot of colder air is in here.
00:55This is for Wednesday, if you will. You can see the second little piece of energy coming in here.
00:59You have to keep an eye on this upper level low off the southern California coast as it rolls inland.
01:03Probably not a lot of weather with it, but what it does is helps to push a lot of warm air up into the middle part of the country for the midweek system.
01:10And therein lies the problem. When that warm air comes in and that disturbance comes in, guess what?
01:15You've got a problem in here and that front may generate some severe weather.
01:18I know many from the lakes toward the east are tired of this pattern now.
01:23Yes.
01:23You know, you and the long range team talked about this back in February that there would be frequent shots coming into the northeast.
01:30Well, two shots this upcoming week.
01:33Yeah, if you just look at it, the first one just comes through and this is by Wednesday behind the departing cold front.
01:39By Wednesday, it's fully entrenched across the eastern seaboard.
01:42And I think as high pressure comes in these areas, you're probably having a frost and freeze potential one more night once again.
01:49Thankfully, it's one night, but maybe Wednesday night it's in the western Carolinas.
01:52And that moves eastward.
01:53And as you go into Friday, you can see here comes the makings of the next one.
01:57Storm system will be working its way through the eastern Great Lakes in here with enough cold air around.
02:01Believe it or not, there's some snow possible across portions of the upper Great Lakes and Midwest.
02:06And then by the time we get to Easter Sunday, the cold air is fully entrenched across the east.
02:10The good news is once we get past this, we're going to finally start to see some change in the weather pattern going forward for the end of April.
02:18Of course, as we go through April, severe weather becomes more prominent.
02:22We do have a threat here Thursday and the Friday.
02:24Yeah, I mentioned, Bernie, that there's warm air that will be in place across the Plain States and into the east ahead of that cold front.
02:32Disturbance coming throughout.
02:33And it's a pretty potent disturbance, so anywhere from, say, Oklahoma City up towards St. Louis on Thursdays, that front approaches and moves on through.
02:40That'll spread toward the eastern seaboard fairly rapidly.
02:42I don't think it's a big outbreak, but it's a concern.
02:45Really quickly, one thing to get ready for by the end of the month.
02:49Finally, a pattern change, a welcome one at that.
02:52You're going to see the jet stream dip in the west.
02:55There'll be some cooler air.
02:56The storm track will come from the eastern Rockies up toward the Great Lakes, warmer air ahead of it.
03:00Keep in mind, though, with that storm track, there may be some more severe weather concerns late in the month.
