Are you or your company an easy mark for cybercriminals or scam artists?

You’re not alone. Some of the smartest leaders and best-run companies in America have been caught off guard—and most don’t want to talk about it.

In this episode of The Mason Duchatschek Show, I speak with Christian Espinosa, CEO of Blue Goat Cyber and author of The Smartest Person in the Room: The Root Cause and New Solution for Cybersecurity.

Christian shares 5 simple and effective things every business should be doing right now to reduce their cyber risk. We also unpack the human element of cybersecurity, communication breakdowns, and how even tech-savvy teams can get blindsided if their mindset isn’t right.

About Our Company

Alchemy was the medieval forerunner of chemistry, based on the supposed transformation of matter. It was concerned with attempts to convert base metals (like lead) into gold. WORKFORCE ALCHEMY is kind of like that—except with people and businesses.

We provide various skill, attitude, and personality-based psychometric assessment tools and training to help employers with employee selection, engagement, and retention.

00:00So what I always tell people when they ask where to start, I always say the basics.
00:03So if you don't know what's on your environment, you don't know if a cyber criminal is on the environment,
00:06and you don't know all the devices you have to update.
00:08The second thing is multi-factor authentication.
00:11Third thing is any device you put on your network, make sure it's secure.
00:16Just taking an IoT device out of the box and installing it doesn't mean it's securely configured.
00:23The fourth thing is simple patching and updating.
00:26And then the last thing I would say is to train your users.
00:30On phishing emails, but not just that, on the impersonation attacks where someone tries to pretend they're the CEO.
00:38Because my company gets these all the time.
00:39People are trying to pretend they're me, asking someone on my team to pay an invoice or something.
00:43Just educating your team on these sort of attacks is important.
