00:00Prepare to be shocked because masturbation addiction is much more harmful than you probably
00:06can imagine.
00:07Many people have had a masturbation habit since they were young, and they think it's
00:12just a harmless habit that is helping them to soothe and feel good.
00:17Well, what you might not know is that masturbation addiction is correlated with one really devastating
00:25physical health issue.
00:27I'm Dr. Trish Lee.
00:28In this video, I'm going to share that with you, and I'm also going to share how masturbation
00:35addiction can impact your mental and cognitive health, your physical health, and your relationships.
00:41So stay tuned all the way through this video so I can explain it to you and help you to
00:47figure out how to move forward.
00:49As a certified brain health and sex addiction recovery coach, I want you to know the devastating
00:55impact that a compulsive masturbation habit can have.
00:59So many people think masturbation is harmless, but what they are not considering is the compulsive
01:05nature that masturbation has for so many people.
01:09That is a discerning factor.
01:11So if you have had a long-standing, consistent, frequent, and especially if it's associated
01:18with porn consumption or fantasy, that becomes a higher level of intensity in terms of your
01:25masturbation habit.
01:26Likely, that's compulsive masturbation, meaning that not only do you want to do it to feel
01:33good, but you have to do it to not feel bad.
01:37Compulsive masturbation can lead to mental and cognitive health issues, namely anxiety,
01:44depression, difficulty with focusing.
01:46It also can lead to physical issues due to neurochemical and hormone imbalances because
01:53of arousal dysfunction in the brain.
01:56What this can lead to is difficulty becoming and staying aroused.
02:02So the number one physical issue that masturbation addiction is causing in men young and old is
02:10erectile dysfunction.
02:11I refer to it as SAD, sexual arousal dysfunction.
02:16This also can include DE and PE.
02:19So if you're struggling with sexual arousal dysfunction, your masturbation habit is likely
02:25at play.
02:27The fatigue and emotional strain of addiction or compulsion also wears on you.
02:32It also can wear on your relationship.
02:34So if you're looking for a relationship or you're in a relationship and the pull or the
02:40urge or the craving back to masturbation is there for you, we know that can lead to
02:45lower sexual satisfaction, especially within a partnership.
02:49All of this happens due to the hijacking of the dopamine centers, the reward centers in
02:56the brain and the reward pathways.
02:59Science has documented when masturbation goes unchecked, it can hijack these reward centers,
03:05making it so that you want to go back to higher level physical and mental stimulation for higher
03:12levels of dopamine.
03:14Dopamine is known as the molecule of more motivation and pleasure.
03:18And you know what it does?
03:19It motivates you back for more masturbation to feel good and to not feel bad.
03:26The downward spiral of masturbation can include the fact that you're using masturbation to feel
03:33good and to offset negative feelings.
03:36It's not even about sex.
03:37Most times it's about mood regulation.
03:40So you want to feel better offset stress or boredom.
03:43So you masturbate.
03:44But ultimately what that does is it leaves your brain in a dopamine deficit state when you go
03:51back into your life.
03:52So ultimately it leads to more stress, more fatigue, more need for stimulation.
03:59So I want you to know that if you have an unchecked masturbation habit, and especially if you feel
04:06like it is compulsive in nature, you find yourself going back to it frequently, consistently, and
04:13with any level of intensity, that this is impacting your mental health, your physical health, especially
04:20sexual arousal dysfunction, namely erectile dysfunction, and it can create strife in your
04:27relationship.
04:28And it's all due to dysfunctional brain pattern at the core of that hijacked dopamine system.
04:36So if you want to learn more about how your brain is hijacked by masturbation and what you
04:42can do to overcome masturbation addiction, please go over to drtrishlee.com for more information.
04:50And as always, control your brain or it'll control you.
