00:00what is up guys it's doo-doo poker back for another video okay so today we're going to be
00:09talking about the theory of bluff catching and we can see this in the solver output outputs okay
00:15so this is a small blind versus big blind hand okay i'm going to give us pocket nines okay we
00:23pocket nines in the small blind all right so we raise up big blind calls flop comes good flop for
00:31us jack of spades 10 of hearts eight of clubs okay now we're mostly checking nines here that
00:41might surprise you but this is not what the video is about so we decide to check okay this is about
00:48river bluff catching theory okay so we decide to check okay now our opponent is very good he
00:55realizes that this is an overbet spot when you stab okay so he stabs 125 now we have an open and
01:04straight draw pocket nines we never fold of course so we call now turn is a four of diamonds okay
01:13nothing else to do with our pocket nines we always check to the big blind now the big blind
01:20is putting more pressure on us he's betting another 125 pot he knows that sizing really well he does that
01:28again now here we decide to call okay now this is going to make a very interesting river decision
01:36okay so we decide to call with pocket nines again all right now the river is a blank deuce of clubs okay
01:44we have pocket nines we check to the big blind the big blind jams okay now before i show you the outputs
01:55i'm going to ask you a question
01:57what hand do you think is a good bluff catcher here would you rather have a hand like i'm going to
02:08give you three hands okay i'm going to give you ace jack pocket nines and nine eight okay
02:14of those three hands which hand do you want what's the best bluff catcher between ace jack
02:22nine nine and nine eight all right think of your answer okay all right he jams we have a decision
02:32we have a decision okay look at theory nine nine is a terrible terrible call almost minus four big
02:44blinds nine eight is around minus one big blind ace jack is called depending on suits but mostly called
02:55okay so why is this what's going on in the river here okay so we have to understand how bluff catching
03:08works from a theoretical point of view okay when you bluff catch you do not care about blocking value
03:25okay what we care about is unblocking bluffs okay nine nine blocks nine seven suited blocks queen nine
03:34okay we don't care about that why because it blocks value bets uh bluffs sorry it blocks bluffs
03:41heroes uh big lines bluffs is nine six suited nine five suited nine three suited okay you're double
03:50blocking bluffs and what do we know about theory we know you're supposed to have
03:58for every one bluff you're supposed to have two value bets so unblocking bluffs is more important
04:08than blocking value this is a very important concept okay so let's let's do the theoretical um
04:15value to bluff ratio we know if we bet a hundred percent pot that you're supposed to have two value
04:25bets to one bluff right so if you bet eighty six percent pot
04:29you do eighty six plus eighty six plus a hundred okay so that's two seven two you're supposed to have
04:37around thirty two percent bluffs okay so
04:41if i'm double blocking bluffs and bluffs are more valuable than value then it's a bad bluff catching
04:53hand okay this is why you fold nine nine and you fold nine eight but you call ace jack because ace jack
05:03unblocks bluffs with not having a nine or a queen in his hand because that's the most viable bluffs
05:10and also blocks value it blocks jack eight it blocks jack 10 okay so you don't want nine nine because it
05:19double blocks is bluffs and you want ace jack because it blocks value it unblocks bluffs okay so
05:26it's a very important concept we don't care about blocking value we do not care at all about blocking
05:31value okay you want to unblock bluffs that is the first priority because bluffs are more rare than value
05:38for every two value bets if you bet pot you get one bluff all right so i thought this was a cool hand to
05:45illustrate this concept um please subscribe if you haven't subscribed already appreciate you guys in
05:52the comments section even uh the negative comments help me and i will see you guys in the next video
