00:00what's up guys it's doo-doo poker here back for another video today we're going to be talking
00:10about a concept that i've actually really never heard anyone talk about before okay
00:16it's the fundamental difference between a two-tone board and a rainbow board so what do i mean well
00:27let's uh let's give ourselves a hand let's give ourselves nine of hearts nine of diamonds okay
00:33we're on the button we raise 2.5x small blind three bets and we call i'm going to give you a
00:41flop queen of spades seven of spades two hearts our opponent decides to bet one third we call
00:49on the turn three of diamonds he bets 50 we decide to call and on the river a flush completes
00:57okay so two-tone board flush completing on the river our opponent jams and we have a zero ev spot okay
01:04now there is a correct answer to this okay do you call full or fold in this spot okay so think about
01:16your answer and i'm going to go back and do another board that's exactly almost exactly the same as this
01:22board except it's a rainbow board and the flush complete is backdoor okay so deja vu we have the
01:31same hand small blind three bets we call instead now the flop comes queen of spades instead of a seven
01:39of spades we give them a seven of clubs two hearts goes one third we call turn is a three of spades
01:47that 50 we decide to call and the river is native spades and they jam and we have another zero ev spot
01:54okay first thing you want to know are these two spots the same is a rainbow flush complete the same as a
02:07two-tone flush complete that's the that's the question we're going to answer and also should we call
02:13right so let's go look at some data this is going to be mda three bet pot out of position pre-flop
02:23razor blinds versus button bet 30 bet 50 bet reg mda okay let's go to filters river third to flush two-tone
02:32flop almost a 2500 hand sample 33 week river third to flush rainbow flop a little over 1800 27 week
02:43what is going on how about this river busted flush two-tone flop 39 week river busted flush rainbow flop 34
02:54week 6 000 hand sample 5 000 hand sample these are huge samples look at the discrepancies between a busted
03:02flush on a two-tone and a rainbow why what's going on here can can anyone explain this
03:09you have to understand
03:13the reason the discrepancies are so large is based on how people construct their flop c betting range
03:24this is the manifestation of their flop c betting range okay so we have to go back to the flop
03:29now if i asked you what is more likely to bet on a on a two-tone board
03:40and a rainbow flop we're comparing right i'm going to give you ace of spades king x okay
03:47if the flop comes queen of spades nine of spades two of hearts are you likely to bet your ace of spades king
03:56x i would say yes right and then when the river completes the flush you would bluff with your ace of
04:04spades correct okay so i'm going to give you the same board with ace of spades king x but now the
04:12board comes queen nine two rainbow well maybe now you don't bet your ace of spades right so because
04:20they see bet their third to flush on the flop meaning he has the third suit on the
04:28two-tone board because they see bet it too often they bluff it too much on the river
04:37how about this one busted flush draw
04:41now when you flop a flush draw do you think you're likely to see bet or check
04:47well i would say c bet right so when you miss on the river you're more likely to bluff
04:55because you're invested in the hand okay that's why it's 39 week okay how about you flop
05:03a backdoor flush draw now you're less likely to see bet right so 34 week you're not going to see
05:10bet as much with a backdoor flush draw on the flop as a front door flush draw and this manifests itself
05:17on the river okay so back to the original question when you have
05:2699 in this spot and you see the backdoor flush draw what do we do now we know it's 27 week so what does
05:35that mean that means we have to fold we have to fold when the backdoor flush draw completes okay but
05:48what if i switch it what if i switch it to now we have the same hand but the board is queen of spades
05:59seven of spades two hearts bet 30 we call three diamonds bet 50 we call eight of spades
06:08jam now you call now you call your nine of hearts nine of diamonds because the front door flush draw
06:21completing on the river is six percent weaker than the backdoor flush draw so you fold the backdoor
06:30flush draw with your zero ev hands but you call the front door because of how they're constructing their
06:36flop c betting range it all comes back to flop right so we see this in the data now this is a very nuanced
06:43topic but it's a very real phenomenon because you can see it here huge samples huge samples same thing
06:51with busted flush draw busted flush draw on the two-tone flop is much weaker you still call both but it's
06:57much weaker with the two-tone all right guys so this is a i haven't heard anyone talk about this before
07:04i wanted to talk about it it's uh mda nuance but it's actually very important in the spot because
07:09it's the difference between a call and a fold when the backdoor flush draw completes you fold when the
07:14front door flush draw completes you call all right guys hopefully you enjoyed that and
07:20um we all learned something and i will see you in the next video
