00:00If Steph doesn't have a ton of points, that does not automatically mean it's a bad game.
00:04Right.
00:05You want to know what I would love in 2025?
00:09Hard stop.
00:11Let's get rid of it forever.
00:16Let's blank cook.
00:18Oh, boy.
00:18Let him cook.
00:19Can we stop, please?
00:21That's not basketball.
00:23It's not anything.
00:24That's not basketball.
00:26Steph Curry was one of seven in the first half.
00:28He had three points.
00:30Right.
00:30He had six rebounds.
00:32Right.
00:33He had five assists.
00:34He was a plus 16.
00:35How many turnovers did he have?
00:36In the first half?
00:37Yeah.
00:38He had one.
00:40They had three, Mark.
00:42Then we're playing good basketball.
00:46Can we let Steph be the sous chef?
00:48Does he have to be the main chef all the time?
00:51Let Steph chop veggies.
00:53What great players do is they read the court.
00:55If we haven't learned this by watching Jimmy Butler play, I don't know who else is going
01:00to teach it to us.
01:01That's what great players do.
01:04It's actually what I've appreciated most about LeBron when everybody wanted him in his
01:09heyday to take every shot at the end and there are times where he would pass.
01:12By the way, Steve Kerr's most famous moment as a basketball player came when Michael Jordan
01:17did what?
01:18He passed.
01:19He passed in a huge moment.
01:20He was afraid to take the shot.
01:22Just call him out.
01:23You know what I'm saying?
01:24These guys are brilliant at that.
01:26I'm not saying that Steph was hot with his shot.
01:28He was not.
01:29But Houston's going to defend him in a certain way.
01:32They did.
01:32They often did it very, very well.
01:34If you've got somebody else who is literally in the zone, and they did last night, feed
01:41him.
01:42Feed that man his ball.
01:45Okay?
01:45That's what they did.
01:46And so this whole idea of like, well, it's game seven as a star player, then you cook.
01:52No, no.
01:52Go play the big game of basketball really, really well.
01:57Yes.
01:58Organically, at times, they're going to cook because they're great players.
02:02They're great players.
02:03But this whole idea of let blank cook.
02:07No, that's crappy basketball.
02:09Yeah, and that's what Stiney was saying earlier about like, Jimmy and Steph need to come out
02:13and they need to be aggressive.
02:15They need to come out.
02:15They need to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
02:18And the first quarter, Jimmy was one for two.
02:21He had four points.
02:23Steph was 0 for four.
02:24He had no points.
02:24I thought they were both great last night.
02:26When you left the first quarter with a lead, because like you're saying, Buddy had eight
02:30and Draymond had eight.
02:31So did Steph and Jimmy need to cook?
02:34No, they didn't need to cook.
02:36They were doing dishes and like bussing tables.
02:39And Draymond and Buddy were doing the cooking.
02:41And if you need them to cook, cook in the fourth quarter, y'all.
02:44And he cooked in the fourth quarter.
02:46The hell does that get you?
02:48It doesn't get you anywhere.
02:50It just gets you to the second quarter.
02:51Well, it gets you wherever it gets you if it's your time to cook.
02:55And in the fourth quarter, Steph had 14 on five of six.
02:59Jimmy had six and he was two of three.
03:03And Jimmy was very even most of the game.
03:05But it was good.
03:06Steph got to the fourth quarter.
03:07And the reason why Steph was able to cook is because Buddy Heald got Houston out of their
03:11zone.
03:12They couldn't play zone anymore because Buddy was killing them.
03:15So they had to go man to man.
03:17And then Steph Curry and Draymond could run their cute little Buddy, pun intended, pick
03:22and roll.
03:23I'll screen for you and you run around and you give it to me and I'll give it back to you
03:26and you run around and you shoot.
03:28It'll be fun.
03:28And Buddy's the one who got them out of the zone to make that work again.
03:32They were clean.
03:33That's all I ever hoped for with Warrior Basketball.
03:36Just be clean.
03:37Be as clean as possible.
03:38They only had one game in the regular year where they had seven turnovers or fewer.
03:42Wow.
03:43One game.
03:44Wow.
03:44Yep.
03:45Which game was it?
03:46Let me look.
03:47I got so many windows open.
03:49I know you do.
03:49I was looking at all their games and they had one game.
03:52They won the game, obviously.
03:54Yeah, I would think.
03:54But it was a game early in the year.
03:56They had seven turnovers.
03:57Tremendous.
03:58Just a tremendous performance in a game seven.
04:00Yeah, Grandy.
04:00What's up?
04:00I was just going to say on the topic of Steph, 22 points.
04:04No one's going to lose their mind over Steph scoring 22, but 14 in the fourth.
04:08And he played 45 and a half minutes at age 37.
04:11Got better the longer that he played.
04:13Who does that at age 37?
04:15Nobody.
04:16Or maybe LeBron.
04:17Like, you know what I mean?
04:19And I was all ready for what?
04:21By the way, this isn't what we would say because it's just different.
04:25We're here and we're the flagship station of this team.
04:28And so every market is more kind of tapped into their team and their city and all that
04:34than the national.
04:36But I promise you, if the Warriors lose that game last night, you want to know what the
04:40Stephen A world would be saying today?
04:43I mean, both the Lakers and Warriors went into their series.
04:47I know the Warriors were the seven seed, but both went in as heavy favorites in their
04:51series.
04:52The Lakers only won one game.
04:54And if the Warriors also gaffed a 3-1 lead, we're going to go right back to the, see,
04:59they are too old.
05:01We got fooled into thinking that they weren't too old, but they are.
05:06And so it's wonderful at age 40 and 37 that you can still go out there and have moments.
05:10But the idea of one of them actually making noise and contending in the playoffs is officially
05:17over with this loss.
05:20And then it didn't happen.
05:22And then it didn't happen.
05:23And the Warriors are in the final eight and they got a game tomorrow night in Minneapolis.
05:27And then you could ask, who's the new face of the franchise?
05:30Who's the new face of the league?
05:31Because LeBron and Steph are done and KD couldn't even make it in the playoffs.
05:36And so, you know, who is it now?
05:37It's Ant.
05:38It's Ant, but he doesn't want the role.
05:40Well, I mean, he would like the role, but you need to get the ring to get the role.
05:44Yes, you do.
05:44And you also have to, like, stop getting $50,000 fines to get the role.
05:50Like, I think Ja would want the role, but, you know, Ja's out there pulling air guns on people
05:54and he's also not advancing.
05:55Yeah.
05:57So, round two is already underway.
06:00The Pacers had a wonderful effort before the Warriors game last night.
06:03Yep.
06:04They're up 1-0.
06:05And then those other two series have a double dip tonight.
06:08Knicks and Celtics are getting started here in just over a half hour.
06:12And then the Nuggets and the Thunder later on tonight.
06:15That one's going to be fascinating.
06:18I don't think the Nuggets are going to win the series,
06:20but I didn't think that they were going to win the last series.
06:24But I think they'll give the Thunder, you know, some pause.
06:27I don't think there'll be a sweep by any stretch.
06:30The Nuggets are probably too good for that,
06:32but it'll be interesting to get some eyes on these series that get started here shortly.
06:36Thunder minus 820 in the series.
06:39To win the series.
06:40Bet 820 to win 100.
06:41The Nuggets are plus 570.
06:44And if you look at the over-under on total games in the series,
06:49it's 5.5.
06:50And the under, by the way, is heavily favored.
06:54Really?
06:55Yeah.
06:55The odds are that it would be five games or fewer.
06:58Oh, I think I'll take the over on that.
07:00Over 5.5.
07:00Yeah.
07:01Okay.
07:01I think the Nuggets can get two games.
07:03You do get odds on that.
07:04Yeah.
07:05And the other one would be...
07:06Thank you for letting me know.
07:07I think I'm going to go place that wager.
07:08Boston is minus 900 against New York.
07:12And New York is plus 610.
07:14And the over-under is also 5.5.
07:17Yeah, I'm not going to touch that one.
07:18Okay.
07:19I want to get eyeballs on that one first.
07:22That was an interesting...
07:23The Knicks-Piston series was interesting.
07:25Yeah.
07:25And I thought Boston was sleepy at times against Orlando, but it was okay because it was Orlando.
07:31Right.
07:31Like, some of these teams, Oklahoma City, Boston, Cleveland to a degree, I'm like, you got nothing
07:37out of the first round because it was just like, whatever.
07:39Like, you're playing a complete team that could not compete.
07:43It all changes now.
07:44Like, everybody's good now with these eight games, eight teams.
07:47Yeah, what's up?
07:47What's up, Grandy?
07:48Oh.
07:49Oh.
07:49You gave me a point.
07:50No, he pulled it down.
07:51I thought that he was raring to go.
07:52Okay.
07:53888-957-9570.
07:55Let's hear from you.
07:56How about Kenny G in Mountain View?
07:59Hey, Kenny, thanks for calling.
08:00What's up?
08:02Hey, long-time listener, first-time caller.
08:05Thanks, man.
08:05I just want to say right off.
08:07Yeah, I appreciate it.
08:07You guys are very entertaining and informative.
08:11Shane Goon, I don't like the way he runs.
08:13He runs like a guy coasting into the end of a 5K or something.
08:18It's just weird.
08:19But I want to tell you what happened Friday night.
08:21Yes.
08:22I'm with my son.
08:23He's 11.
08:24Just turned 11.
08:26And we're watching the game.
08:27It's bad.
08:28It's not good.
08:29Normally, on Friday nights, he and his friends play Roblox.
08:33So, I told him, I was like, why don't you just go see if your friends are online?
08:36This game's over.
08:37We're not going to win.
08:38It's bad.
08:39And he goes, well, it's not over until it's over.
08:41And then I'm having to explain to him time frames and, you know, what would need to happen
08:45for us to even get in striking distance.
08:47I was like, no.
08:48And he goes, well, what's next?
08:50And I was like, well, now we have to go to Houston.
08:52We have to play them in Houston.
08:54It's not good, man.
08:55It's bad.
08:56And the deck is stacked against us.
08:58Now, at some point, I don't know if you guys have kids or not, but...
09:02I literally have an 11-year-old, Kenny.
09:04I got three kids and a bunch of problems.
09:06You're going to understand exactly what I'm about to say.
09:10They go from being tiny idiots to, like, thoughtful, semi-thoughtful people.
09:16And he's heard me say this, but he didn't know he was quoting Rudy Tomjanovich.
09:20And my kid looks at me and goes, never underestimate the heart of a champion.
09:25And I almost lost it.
09:28Oh, my gosh.
09:29Kenny, what's your kid's name?
09:30Yup.
09:31Leon.
09:32Leon.
09:34I think I want to watch a game with Leon.
09:40Holy smokes.
09:41That's big.
09:43And, Kenny, thank you very, very, very much.
09:45Appreciate the call.
09:46I want to shout this out.
09:47It's almost become our thing.
09:49So I didn't feel bad about it.
09:51But the kids are all locked in on this stuff, man.
09:54They are locked in.
09:55And my 16-year-old daughter, Ella, she says, after we get home on Friday night and everybody's downtrodden and all crap,
10:05and, my God, all of a sudden, it's like we're facing the end of the season.
10:10Like, snap of a finger.
10:12You're facing the end of the season and you're an underdog.
10:15And she's like, well, you know, gosh, that game stunk.
10:20And I'm like, it totally did.
10:21And they're in trouble.
10:23They're in trouble.
10:24It's the same thing I texted you.
10:25Yep.
10:25They're in trouble.
10:27She's like, they can win on Sunday.
10:30I'm like, and you know exactly what I said.
10:33They're allowed to.
10:34They're allowed to.
10:35But I don't think they're going to.
10:37I really don't.
10:38Like, this is this.
10:39They have set themselves up now for very, very difficult.
10:43And she claps back.
10:45She does not like that.
10:46She does not want to hear Dad with the I can't because I don't have a whole lot of we can't in me anyway.
10:52So when they see it, they're like, Dad, what the hell is that all about?
10:56So she just, Dad, they can win this game.
10:58So last night, not only did we get to celebrate the win, but I get a healthy bucket of I told you so.
11:04Nice.
11:04Because this has become her thing.
11:06She was the one at halftime.
11:09I told you this story.
11:10Oh, I love this story.
11:11Niners are down 24 to 7 against the Detroit Lions.
11:14NFC title game at halftime.
11:16And she was, like, at a friend's house or something.
11:18And I went to pick her up.
11:19She hops in the car.
11:20She's a huge Niner fan.
11:21And I'm like, well, we better get ready to just start, like, acknowledging the idea that the Niners are not going to be in the Super Bowl this year.
11:29And she goes, no.
11:31No.
11:33They can come back.
11:35And then you all know exactly what happened.
11:37So now it's almost our thing.
11:38Now it's almost our thing.
11:39I'm going to purposefully be looking for things where I can naysay Bay Area sports and tell her, yeah, we got no shot.
11:46Got no shot.
11:47And let her drum it up because we've had some Houdini acts by these teams in the last few years.
11:53So go home tomorrow and just tell her, you know what, honey, T-Wolves in six.
11:57I hate to break it to you.
11:59T-Wolves in four.
11:59Totally.
12:00I mean, come on.
12:01And she will immediately clap back.
12:02Yeah, we're exhausted.
12:03We're not beating this team.
12:05Come on.
12:05And before we even get to Wolves in whatever or Warriors in whatever, I'm still in the same space as you are of, like, yesterday was unbelievable.
12:13And I had the stat earlier that nine of the last 14 road teams have won game seven.
12:19So it's not like it's been that much of an anomaly.
12:22But Bobby Fitz on the broadcast, and I was watching Fitz and Kalanit last night, and he said that home teams win 74% of game sevens.
12:31But I was kind of holding on to the reality that nine of the last 14 on the road have gotten it done.
12:37Yep.
12:38And I think I'm trying to remember Steph Curry's career.
12:43And game sevens.
12:46Because I can remember, let's see, obviously there was the game seven loss to the Cavs at home.
12:54There was the game seven win at home against Oklahoma City just before that.
13:00But memory serves, there were three road game seven victories.
13:08Is that right?
13:09You had last night, you had the first time in Houston when James Harden and company put up 1,000 missed threes.
13:16Right.
13:16That was a game seven.
13:17And then you had Sacramento a couple of years ago.
13:21Is that three road game seven victories for Steph Curry now in his career?
13:25I'm looking at the long right now, and the first one was on the road at the Clippers they lost in 2014.
13:31They lost, right, right.
13:31They did not.
13:31I was with Stineys in Dana's backyard for that one.
13:35That was the year before the dynasty began.
13:37Right.
13:37And then OKC at home, game seven win.
13:41Cleveland at home, game seven loss.
13:45And then Houston on the road, game seven win.
13:47Right.
13:48And then...
13:49Does it jump to Sacramento?
13:50It jumps to, I think, Sacramento.
13:53You're right.
13:54Yeah, there it is.
13:55So he's only played in a game seven five times.
13:59Yep.
14:00And he's 4-1 with three of them being on the road.
14:03My God.
14:04It's 3-2 because he lost to the Cavs and the Clippers.
14:07Well, no, no, no.
14:08I mean, yes.
14:09OK, right.
14:10I meant after, sorry, once the title runs began.
14:14But yeah, no, that's fair.
14:14So no, then four, four and two, four and two in game sevens in his career, and three
14:19of them are on the road.
14:21Dog.
14:21That's some serious action right now.
14:24No doubt.
14:24Let's go to Scott in Vallejo again.
14:27We're taking your calls on what's your game seven story, and when you look back at this
14:31series as a whole, what's your takeaway?
14:33Now that you've had a night of sleep and, OK, we can all take a deep breath, what's your
14:38takeaway from this one?
14:39Scott in Vallejo.
14:40Hey, what's going on, man?
14:41Thanks for calling Willie and Debbie.
14:42What's on?
14:45What's going on, Dibbs and Willard?
14:46How are you guys doing?
14:47Yeah, we're doing good.
14:49Awesome.
14:50You sound like it.
14:51I bet you are, especially after that win last night.
14:53But I'm glad that everybody got a chance to see what Buddy Heald can do, because nobody
14:58seemed to know much about him.
15:00But I can tell you this.
15:01I watched him play a lot of college basketball, and he carried his team.
15:04And I know that college doesn't always translate to the NBA.
15:08But it did last night.
15:10So, hey, all I know is Buddy Heald is a hell of a player.
15:15And if he can do this over and over again, you guys are going to like him a lot.
15:21No doubt about it.
15:22Look, Scott, for me, yesterday kind of gives him a forever get-out-of-annoyance free card.
15:30Like, for me, you have a game like that, and I'm willing to overlook a lot of other stuff.
15:38And I didn't not, and thanks, Scott.
15:40Appreciate hearing from you.
15:41I didn't not like Buddy Heald.
15:43But, yeah, like, he drives you nuts.
15:45He drives you nuts.
15:46And maybe I'm lying.
15:48I don't know.
15:49When the next time Buddy drives us crazy in a playoff game, if I will just calmly be like,
15:54it's okay, game seven, game seven in Houston, it's okay, maybe I will be annoyed.
16:00I don't know, though.
16:01I feel like I'm going to view Buddy Heald differently now going forward.
16:05And I do think that we all viewed Andrew Wiggins differently going forward after he did what he did in the playoffs.
16:11That's a good point.
16:11I mean, forever, Andrew Wiggins will be, in my mind, that guy who played amazing in the NBA Finals.
16:19And he might have been the NBA Finals MVP if it wasn't for Steph Curry going absolutely nuclear in the NBA Finals.
16:26So he was able to get to a spot where you think differently about him.
16:30And, you know, Kavon's a little bit different because he's so beloved and he's, you know, homegrown and all the rest of it.
16:36But what he did in that playoff as well is one that, you know, you wouldn't have won without Kavon Looney either.
16:41Agreed.
16:42And I think he already was beloved, but he wasn't beloved as much as he became in that year.
16:47So, you know, boy, he showed up again last night, I thought, in huge ways.
16:55And there's such a trust factor with him, even when he goes for months without playing any significant minutes.
17:01But these moments in the playoffs where clearly Steve Kerr, Draymond Green, Steph Curry look to him to go out there and do key things.
17:11And he seems to do it.
17:12He seems to do it certainly more often than not.
17:15Let's go to SF Bay Drummer.
17:16Thanks for calling.
17:17Drummer, what are you doing?
17:19Hey, fellas, what's going on?
17:21I just got my daughter from daycare.
17:22It's like storming out here, like raining bad.
17:25I guess it's like a decade's worth of Rockets fans' tears out here.
17:29But, you know, I'm happy for the win.
17:32Like, me and my daughter, we were locked in watching the game together.
17:37She kept kind of jumping and moving around because she's a four-year-old.
17:40But she said, go Warriors and everything.
17:43So, I'm teaching her the right way.
17:45Even though she was bored out here in Houston, she always said, let's go Giants, clap, clap, clap, go Niners.
17:50And then she said, go Warriors.
17:52So, I'm teaching her the right way.
17:53But, you know, I think the Warriors, they got the good vibes going.
17:58Hopefully, the bench can step up and get us some wins and everything like that.
18:02But, what I believe is, you know, the Warriors, as long as they, you know, pace themselves, they can do whatever they need to do.
18:10And then, also, I heard that the Rockets fans, they need to be CPR trained next season due to severe choking hazards that they have out here.
18:21Very good.
18:21Nice.
18:22Nice, Dropper.
18:22Very good, Dropper.
18:24With the Dibber laugh, too.
18:25I love that.
18:25I don't want to do that to teams.
18:26I feel like that takes something away from your team and what they did when you start calling the other team chokers.
18:33But, if you blow a 3-1 lead, I do think that it becomes more of an appropriate thing.
18:38I don't think that the Rockets didn't choke.
18:40That's where.
18:41I like the broadside shot that he took.
18:44But, when you're down 3-1 and you force a game seven, and then you lose to a team that has championship pedigree and a guy who, and let's be fair about Buddy Heald.
18:53If you look at his playoff career, this is really his first playoff series.
18:58That's right.
18:58He had a series in Philly where he had three games of garbage time, and then one game where they were desperate and he played and they lost.
19:06And then now, you're in a spot where you're actually going to play.
19:09Yeah, this is his first and most significant, like, real role in a playoff series.
19:15And, again, he showed up pretty nicely, in my eyes, more often than not.
19:21So, I will tell you this, and then we have an injury report for game one tomorrow night.
19:25Granny's going to share it with you in just a second.
19:28But, one thing I did notice, just the little snarky side in me, this was my favorite thing that I saw yesterday.
19:36Because Alpy, Alpy Shingun, after six games, was quoted at Rockets shoot-around as saying,
19:46I don't think the Warriors have beaten us at all in this series.
19:50Right.
19:51Not once.
19:53We beat ourselves.
19:54We miss free throws.
19:56We make mistakes.
19:57And this has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a Warrior fan.
20:00You and I have talked about this before.
20:02There are certain athletes, certain teams.
20:05I never like it when it's all, every game is only about them.
20:10There's never any credit to the opponent.
20:13It's either we played well and we won, or we lost because we played poorly.
20:17There has to be something bigger than that.
20:20So, when Alpy Shingun said, I don't think the Warriors have beaten us at all in this series,
20:26it was fun to quote-tweet that last night and ask, how about now?
20:31Right.
20:32Because there is no question that you guys got outplayed from beginning to end in last night's basketball game.
20:39Well, and you can say that they beat themselves.
20:41And, you know, if you want to, like, really make that a part of your narrative,
20:45then why don't you name-check the players on your team who are the reasons why you lost?
20:50Like Jalen Green in game one when he was three for 17.
20:54So, when you talk about how the Warriors didn't beat you, you beat yourself.
20:58Well, you're not talking about yourself, Alpy, because you were great.
21:01Game one through game seven.
21:03Game seven, you were a little shaky, and you missed some easy little jump hooks,
21:07and you didn't get the calls you wanted.
21:08I mean, he had a chance to win game four, and he didn't do it.
21:11He did.
21:11But, I mean, in general, he was the best rocket game one through seven.
21:15But if you want to talk about who actually beat themselves, it's Jalen Green, your young star.
21:21He was not, he was phenomenal in one game.
21:24He was the only one who I say, yeah, like, disappointing.
21:28Disappointing.
21:29Right?
21:29Like, Thompson was fantastic.
21:31Yep.
21:32Jabari Smith, smaller role, but played it well.
21:35Yep.
21:35I'm waiting for it.
21:36Dylan Brooks got into foul trouble, but played pretty well.
21:39Not in game seven.
21:40He played pretty well.
21:41He was a big old giant NF last night.
21:44He was a non-factor.
21:45I agree with that.
21:46He was a non-factor in game seven.
21:48I don't think he didn't embarrass himself, though.
21:50What was he from the field?
21:52I think three of eight.
21:53Yeah.
21:54I mean, whatever.
21:54Three of nine.
21:55Three of nine.
21:56I mean, you're Dylan Brooks.
21:58Go out there and make S happen.
22:00Like, go out there and do something.
22:02Well, what does that mean?
22:02You're Dylan Brooks.
22:03That means you're losing.
22:05Go out there and, like, stir it up.
22:07Yeah, but there's seven dudes on that floor more talented than Dylan Brooks.
22:11Right, but nobody's more ornery than Dylan Brooks.
22:14Well, there's one guy, but anyway.
22:15I mean, maybe.
22:17But let's go to Grandy for the injury report on game one.
22:21Before I do that, a little other piece of news from the NBA.
22:25Kenny Atkinson of the Cavs, head coach of the year.
22:28Of the year, yeah.
22:29Of course, former Warriors assistant, but that just came down from the NBA.
22:32Injury report for tomorrow.
22:34Gary Payton II, questionable with the illness that kept him out last night for Minnesota.
22:38Rob Dillingham, rookie guard.
22:40He's out with an ankle issue.
22:42Those are the only two guys on the injury report.
22:44Pretty healthy look.
22:46And I got to think.
22:47I mean, I know nothing about his illness.
22:48I got to think 48 hours later, the GP2 has got a good chance to be ready to go and play.
22:53I would think.
22:54Yeah, you would guess.
22:55But my only concern is who gets it next?
22:58Well, is it the same thing?
23:01I mean, when Pods got it, it was food poisoning.
23:03That's not contagious.
23:04Well, and then Kaminga got sick, right?
23:06Right.
23:06Well, that was a migraine.
23:07That's not contagious.
23:09I just wonder.
23:09You know what I mean?
23:10I have no idea what the hell is going on.
23:12Yeah, me either.
23:14Anyway.
