00:00Also, the administration is talking about the film industry.
00:03We've seen all these tariffs, and now Donald Trump is saying there's a tariff on the Hollywood
00:07industry or the film industry if you go and you make a movie in another country.
00:12And there are ways to do this where you can use it with AI and with green screens.
00:16You can make it look like you're in Italy and just film your movie here in America so
00:20that our economies, our states, get to keep the money here in America.
00:24So Donald Trump is talking about this.
00:26Listen.
00:26The film industry has been decimated by other countries taking him out and also by incompetence
00:34like in Los Angeles.
00:35The governor is a grossly incompetent man.
00:37He's just allowed it to be taken away from, you know, Hollywood.
00:41Hollywood doesn't do very much of that business.
00:44They have the nice sign and everything's good, but they don't do very much.
00:47A lot of it's been taken to other countries and a big proportion.
00:51And I'm actually going to meet with some because, you know, there's some advantages, I guess,
00:55and I'm not looking to hurt the industry.
00:57I want to help the industry.
00:58So we're going to meet with the industry.
01:00I want to make sure they're happy with it because we're all about jobs.
01:04That's all what I'm, you know, it's very important.
01:06It's a big industry, but it's an industry now that's it's really left.
01:11It's abandoned the USA where it started.
01:15And we'll get it.
01:16We'll get it back.
01:17So, Brian, I guess there's a little bit of disagreement on the couch.
01:21Yeah.
01:21Because you say, look, they destroyed their own industry with all the woke policies and
01:25all that.
01:26But I think that this is America first in the sense you can still get out of California.
01:32You can go to Texas.
01:33You can go to Georgia.
01:34You can go to Nashville.
01:35South Carolina.
01:36South Carolina.
01:37Exactly.
01:37Or New York.
01:38Who was offering tax credits to have these movies there.
01:41They can change the scenery to make it look like another place.
01:44I don't think because some in the industry have become woke that you destroy the entire
01:50industry.
01:51One thing, when they bring up AI in the industry, they go crazy because if you can start generating,
01:55you can generate fake people and destroy the acting profession.
01:58That's one thing they want to strike with.
02:00Number two is when you have these other countries offer these extremely good packages, if you are
02:06trying to find the best deal possible, that's why you go to Egypt.
02:09That's why you go to Romania.
02:10Romania is like the hottest place to do movies.
02:13Isn't it more expensive, though, to take your whole crew to another country versus stay here?
02:17Judging by how much it's here, but with the insurance costs and with the unions that
02:22they deal with, even in other states, the prices are through the roof.
02:26Brian, that's the same argument that businesses make.
02:29They say, look, we can go make the product for cheaper in China, but they're using slave
02:34labor and all that.
02:35It's the same argument, just in a different industry.
02:38Well, they will play the going rates, let's say, in Romania.
02:41They're not going to impoverished nations.
02:42For example, they're shooting a movie about Saddam Hussein's days in captivity after he
02:47got caught.
02:48They're shooting in Egypt.
02:49It's a perfect backdrop.
02:50It's got incredible sights.
02:52And it is really affordable for them to go there.
02:54So if they want to go there and do a movie for less money, maybe give the actors more
03:00of the money, instead of Arizona, why should you stop them from doing that?
03:04I guarantee some of these governors are going to hear this now, and they're going to say,
03:07we will give you incentives.
03:09You won't have to pay taxes.
03:10That's already happening.
03:10They know about it.
03:12Believe me, they'll go to the highest bidder.
03:13Do you think that any of these American actors want to go spend three months in Romania?
03:18But it's so financially beneficial, and it's so hard to make a profit on movies, as you
03:23know, there's no back end with the streaming stuff, that they have no choice.
03:26I think what he's got to do, Jon Voight met with him, that spurred this whole movement,
03:30just like Nick Saban spurred the NIL talk.
03:32So find people who are experts in the business, say, why are you in Romania?
03:36Why are you shooting over in Morocco?
03:38And so the Middle Eastern countries especially, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, why are you shooting over
03:43there?
03:44What can we do to bring you back here?
03:45But stop with the non-binary key grip, or else you don't get an Oscar.
03:50You can't hire the best people because you've got to make sure everybody's diverse enough
03:56and politically correct enough.
03:58And Hollywood did this to themselves.
04:00But now it's almost impossible to be here.
04:02And we wrote the clip in during the day of Rob Lowe.
04:04Rob Lowe, who lives in Los Angeles, has to shoot the floor in Ireland because it's cost
04:10prohibitive to shoot it here.
04:12So meet with the people in the eye of the storm.
04:14Is there not a way to, I mean, say to all the governors, what is your bid?
04:19This is what Ireland's bidding.
04:20And this is what, these are our costs.
04:22I need it to be less than Ireland.
04:24And one of the governors you don't think would say, shoot it here.
04:27We'll use all of our people in our state to build you a set where it looks like it's in Ireland.
04:31It's going to be a fascinating debate.
04:32I'm Steve Ducey.
