00:00On the grid they are all equal, but each driver is motivated by their own desires and aspirations.
00:12They're all on a journey to the same place and each victory has its own story.
00:18It can be an opportunity to make a statement.
00:22There was a massive question mark over the future of this young Kiwi superstar.
00:28Well now there are no questions. The Giz is the Klipsal champion of 2013.
00:34It can elevate you to become one of the greats.
00:38And this is one for the record books. The people's champion today becomes the all-time race winner.
00:45Craig Lowndes, 91 career victories. And now he sits at the top of the list.
00:51It's a chance to fulfil a dream.
00:54This youngster is being compared already to the great Craig Lowndes.
01:00Look out. There's a new kid in town in the V8 supercars.
01:04His name is Scott McLaughlin. He's on the champions list.
01:08Even if that dream takes a little longer than you expected.
01:12He's done more than 180 races. And today in a brand new format.
01:18Fabian Coulthard wins the 60-60 race at Simmons Plains.
01:24Awesome work fellas.
01:26His first in V8 supercars.
01:28It's a feeling that never gets old.
01:32And his first win of season 2013.
01:34Here comes the defending champ again.
01:36And it's a memory that stays with you forever.
01:40Entire V8 community, farewell. One of the great guys, Jason Richards.
01:44Well today the tears will flow.
01:46They're on their feet because sometimes it is about so much more than winning.
01:54History is made in these moments.
01:56And there are many more to be written in 2013.
02:00Debude back in 1996.
02:03When the kid took this category by storm.
02:06Three times he's won the championship.
02:09Five times he's won the Bathurst 1000.
02:12He's a multiple Barry Sheen medalist.
02:15Crowds love him.
02:17This would be one to save it for Craig Lowndes.
02:20The V8 supercars.
02:23On seven.
02:24Well it's always great to be back in the west.
02:30Especially on a day like today.
02:32The city of Perth is shining again.
02:34What a spectacular backdrop.
02:36To another day of racing.
02:37Our venue 50 kilometres north of the CBD.
02:40Barbagello Raceway.
02:41It's already been a record breaking start to this weekend.
02:44So what drama will unfold.
02:46On the final day of the chill Perth 360.
02:48Hi everyone I'm Matt White.
02:50And welcome to the V8 supercars on seven sport.
02:52An incredibly busy day ahead for you.
02:55Two Dunlop races featuring Casey Stoner.
02:57We've got V8 Utes and Touring Car Masters as well.
03:00Then in the main game.
03:01Two qualifying sessions.
03:03Two 100 kilometre races.
03:05To finish off what has already been a big weekend.
03:08Here at Barbagello Raceway.
03:09Welcome to our expert commentators.
03:11Mark Scaife and Neil Crompton.
03:12A lot to talk about boys.
03:13But let's start with that headline act from yesterday.
03:15Craig Lowndes into the record books.
03:17All time race winner.
03:1991 victories.
03:20Yeah fantastic.
03:21Hi Matt.
03:22It was really special.
03:23He's an evergreen.
03:24Aging well.
03:25Craig Lowndes.
03:26Looked at some numbers last night.
03:27481 career race starts.
03:29For 91 victories.
03:31As we've been talking about through the course of the weekend.
03:33That's a strike rate of about 20% in terms of his wins.
03:36And in the early years at HRT Maddy.
03:39Four years there.
03:4049 wins.
03:41He's winning one in every two races he was contesting.
03:44Then he went off to Ford.
03:45Gibson Motorsport.
03:46Ford Performance Racing.
03:47Went through a lean patch.
03:48He was there for three years across that period.
03:50Sorry.
03:51Four years only.
03:52He got three wins.
03:53Now he's paired up at Triple Eight Race Engineering.
03:55As you well know.
03:56Eight year partnership.
03:58It's been an absolute ripper for him.
04:00They've given him everything that he needs.
04:01You know how important that is.
04:03And the yield's been 39 race wins.
04:05So the question for me.
04:06At 38 years of age.
04:07How much further can he go?
04:08He's going to get 500 race starts under his belt this year.
04:12It's pretty impressive stuff.
04:13Well Neil it certainly is.
04:15I mean I don't know.
04:16I mean 500 starts.
04:17He might make a hundred wins.
04:19I mean it's certainly possible to win a hundred of those.
04:21Under that smiley face is a very very competitive guy.
04:24Let's have a look at the highlights.
04:25Because yesterday was a record breaking day for Craig Lowndes.
04:29But lots of drama to unfold before he got to the finish line to win that.
04:34So the first part of the 60-60 was a bit of a wink up fest.
04:39Because great start.
04:40Was able to get around there.
04:42And have a look at the big slide from Lowndes.
04:44Turn one.
04:45Right out wide.
04:46Round the back of Jason Bright.
04:47There's a good battle there.
04:48Good battle through the field.
04:50That's Wall and Engel making contact at turn seven.
04:53Craig Lowndes was able to get down the inside of Jason Bright.
04:56And he basically at that point didn't really look like he had wink up speed in the first part of the race.
05:03Some drama there with Webb and Tanda.
05:05Webb's been penalised 15 championship points for that.
05:08Webb then into the back of Murrow Engel.
05:11And there was lots of chaos.
05:13Todd Kelly tire failure and off the road he goes.
05:16Look at the dirt and corruption in the front of the Nissan Altima.
05:20And then we saw one of the monster moments throughout the weekend.
05:24There was some drama as I said through the field.
05:26There was bumping and barging.
05:28Young Chas Mostert did a great job.
05:30He qualified in the top ten.
05:32He got fed off the road at the end of the straight.
05:34And then have a look at this.
05:36Scott Pye off the road.
05:38At almost 250 kilometres an hour.
05:40Look at this.
05:43Mark Larkham is going to take us through this.
05:45But it was a massive moment for young Scott Pye.
05:48And look at the reaction of the guys down at Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport.
05:54And he's had a couple of big moments in the first part of the year.
05:58We made a point of that yesterday.
05:59And we love the theatre of this rolling start in the second half of the race after halftime.
06:04And Jamie Winkup got a beautiful jump in the turn one from his teammate Craig Lowndes.
06:09And there was a lot of push and shove up the hill for the first time.
06:11That's Scott McLaughlin, the move that he pulled on Shane Van Gisberg.
06:14And this is on board with David Reynolds in the bottom low forward.
06:17As they all elbowed past the giz.
06:19But Lowndes had tremendous speed.
06:21We wondered whether or not he had a different configuration in terms of the way he used tyres.
06:25Or had they just smartened up the car.
06:27Whatever the case, he was very, very strong.
06:29Now, Garth Tander's been in the wars this weekend.
06:31200th event start in Western Australia.
06:33That's him bumping into Will Davison.
06:35Here's Fabian Coulthard off at turn number seven.
06:38We thought that he locked up and went off.
06:39But in fact, that flat tyre was what sent him into the sand in the first instance.
06:43Problem also for Rick Kelly.
06:45I think they're having troubles on the kerb at turn five with the front left corner of the car.
06:50We're seeing quite a few punctures here and there.
06:52So Craig Lowndes just wheeled away from the pack.
06:54This was a nice job.
06:56Although I held my breath as always when he bags her up at the end.
06:59But it was a great performance.
07:00Big pressure at the end of it there in the battle for second and third.
07:03Jeremy Moore and the rest of the boys from Red Bull Racing Australia justifiably proud.
07:07And Lowndes goes into the record book.
07:09There he is with Mark.
07:11And it's a tremendous performance.
07:1291 V8 supercar wins.
07:14So the podium was Lowndes Wincup and Mark Winterbottom.
07:17The championship point score looks like this.
07:19Wincup gets the lead back from Will Davison.
07:21Lowndes is now 67 points behind in third.
07:24Fabian Coulthard drops three spots down to eighth.
07:27And Mark Winterbottom moves into the top ten.
07:30So another 200 points on offer today for races 11 and 12.
07:34Well, I said the headline act yesterday was Lowndes, of course.
07:37But the highlights reel was dominated by what we just saw there.
07:40The Ecole Commodore flying through the air on the hill not too far from where we're sitting now.
07:44It was one of the most extraordinary incidents we've seen in a long time.
07:47Yeah, so last night we all went into the paddock to try and gather information about it all.
07:51I spoke with Garth Tander and with Rick Kelly.
07:53The bottom line to their story was they were squeezed.
07:55Nowhere to go.
07:56Rick's certainly in the middle.
07:57Absolutely nowhere to move.
07:58And Garth was limited by the track on the right-hand side.
08:00But you had a chat with Scotty Pye, who I imagine was still trembling at the time.
08:03He did.
08:04A very frightened face.
08:06And at that point he said, look, I didn't know where he was.
08:09And he thought he was clear of Rick.
08:10So he moved over.
08:11Certainly wasn't clear of Rick.
08:13And it was a massive...
08:14I mean, we said it.
08:15Almost 250k.
08:16You get spun around.
08:17It's wild.
08:18It's amazing that he didn't flip over.
08:19And it's a good thing because he would have rolled for a long, long time.
08:22So exactly where did it happen?
08:24Exactly how did it happen?
08:25And what type of numbers are we talking about here?
08:27Well, we sent Larco up the hill to find out.
08:30Now, I said to you in yesterday's telecast,
08:32let's get up here on the hill at Barbegello Raceway
08:34and understand just how far that car of Scotty Pyes flew through the air sideways.
08:40Now, before I do, let's just acknowledge Scotty.
08:42This kid's a star of the future.
08:43He's just been in the wars a little bit lately, but keep your eye on him.
08:46He's not going anywhere.
08:47Great young bloke.
08:48Got a future in our sport.
08:50Now, over here behind me, this is the main straight.
08:52This is the hill.
08:53When they get to the bottom of the hill just over here,
08:55they're doing about 255, 260km an hour.
08:59Where Scotty departed the circuit over here behind me,
09:02pick a number, probably around 240, 245km an hour.
09:05Now, see the witch's head up there behind me?
09:08There's a lip there.
09:09I've been up.
09:10There's a witness mark there where you can see where Scotty's car has taken off through the air,
09:13flown through the air, and look, here on the ground,
09:15you can see the witness marks here as well.
09:17Here, you can see where the underbelly of the car has dug all the earth out here.
09:20I've stepped that out 45 metres.
09:24Now, remember, that's nearly an Olympic swimming pool.
09:27That car has been in the air sideways at nearly 230, 240km an hour.
09:33Very lucky because there's an apron over here behind me,
09:35a concrete apron that it didn't trip and roll down the road.
09:38So, he's a lucky young lad.
09:39I spoke to him this morning.
09:40Yes, he's sore.
09:41The car's repaired.
09:42It's not great.
09:43But, Scott said, remember that incident in Tasmania a few weeks back
09:46where he had that frontal impact and that hurt him?
09:49Well, he said, this one hurt more because his legs whacked the tunnel,
09:52the centrepiece in the interior of the car.
09:54But, good on you, Scott.
09:56He's back out here on the track today.
09:57So, well done, mate.
09:58Absolutely.
09:59And the car is looking quite good.
10:00It's just a couple of garages down from where we're sitting.
10:03It's extraordinary how they piece them all back together again.
10:05Bit of a breeze coming through today.
10:07It's a little bit cooler to start the day,
10:09but it will pretty much end up a carbon copy of yesterday.
10:11So, 27 degrees and no sign of rain to bother us.
10:14Like we said at the top, it's a very busy day, folks.
10:17So, settle in for a long one.
10:18You'll see it all here on 7 Sport.
10:20Coming up after the break, back-to-back qualifying sessions for the V8s.
10:23Are we in for another golden day like we had yesterday?
10:28Baby, you're making it all the better, faster.
10:32I've got to hear the change for the lead here as Lowndes goes up the inside.
10:36So, Lowndes diving through.
10:39He's got good car pace.
10:41I know I've got to be right now.
10:43This could be the day that Craig Lowndes eclipses Mark Skate's all-time career race-winning record.
10:50He loves this circuit.
10:54There's only four laps to go between Craig Lowndes, this circuit and a place in the history books.
11:00One ball at night, 2.0, car behind.
11:03And Jeremy Moore is willing on Lowndes.
11:06And this is one for the record books.
11:09The people's champion.
11:10Today he becomes the all-time race winner.
11:14Craig Lowndes, 91 career victories.
11:16There's no doubt there's a rivalry, but there's a lot of ego as well.
11:33We've been racing hard since we were 10 years old.
11:36And that's exactly what it is.
11:37It's hard racing.
11:44I got done.
11:45Got done in the last corner.
11:46So, yeah, that burnt.
11:48That burnt pretty hard.
11:49That stayed with me for a long time.
11:51They definitely have held a grudge.
11:53Triple eight.
11:54Whether it's Jamie or the team, I'm not sure.
11:56This is a chance.
11:57And down there, they've hit.
11:59They run into each other.
12:01He's pushed Winkup off.
12:03The move at Sandown that I pulled.
12:04You know, I caught the bloke from five seconds.
12:07Past him.
12:08He lost one position.
12:09We had contact, but he lost one position.
12:10In my opinion, you know, big deal.
12:12You know, you get respect off people.
12:14And other people don't give any respect.
12:16They're both at the race.
12:17Contact.
12:18And around goes Winnebottom.
12:20Disaster.
12:22He made a clumsy move and belted into my door.
12:24And we just can't have people, you know, thinking they can belt into us
12:28and get away with it, you know.
12:29So, yeah, I had to sort things out in the next race, which we did.
12:32Oh, it's on again.
12:33It's on again.
12:34And this time, Winkup.
12:35Big lunge.
12:36Squeezes through.
12:37Debris on the track.
12:38This is going to be a very tricky one for them to deal with upstairs.
12:41You know, it's up to Mark now.
12:43If he wants to continue this weekend, there's no drama.
12:45I don't mind it.
12:46I can go blow for blow.
12:48It is the modern day rivalry in the V8 supercars between Jamie Winkup, our championship leader now,
12:57and Mark Winterbottom as we get set for the first of back-to-back qualifying sessions here
13:02on the final day of the Chill Perth 360.
13:05And a fascinating scenario unfolded in qualifying yesterday that resulted in Winkup starting on a pole position.
13:11So, let's get the thoughts of our pit lane reporters on this one because it was quite unique when Winkup and Winterbottom end up going head-to-head.
13:18Once again, welcome to you, Greg Murphy, filling in for Mark Beretta.
13:21Larko, what did you make of all that?
13:22Well, mate, as you know, this has been a bit of a topic over the dinner table and down here again this morning.
13:27And just listening to Frosty's words there, Winkup's words, if he holds a grudge against Winkup,
13:32I'd hate to see if he actually liked him.
13:34We just thought that was, frankly, a little soft yesterday, Murph.
13:37There was some big words just spoken, and yesterday, you know, perfect opportunity that we thought for a professional foul, you know.
13:43So, you know, Winkup's sitting in his position here where he is now, ready to go out, with two minutes to go on the clock,
13:49and Mark's just backed off and let him drive in, which gave him the opportunity to get the lap in that he needed to put the car on pole.
13:56It was unbelievable.
13:57Yeah, and I've got to say, I did a bit of a survey of some pre-drivers and some current drivers in the pit lane this morning
14:02and asked them what they would do in the same circumstance.
14:05And it'd be eyes forward, your bumper on the guy in front of you, and get out of there.
14:09Not worried about you, mate.
14:10If I can do you over, great.
14:11Absolutely.
14:12And the team.
14:13I mean, I would have thought that FPR would have been more on the game there.
14:16That, you know, they've got a championship leader in Will Davison.
14:19Opportunity there to try and make sure that you do the right thing and give your team the number one shot,
14:24not give someone else the shot.
14:25A little bit of passion over this issue, as you can see.
14:27Excellent.
14:28Now over.
14:29So we're just about to get qualifying underway.
14:31Thanks, boys.
14:32Let's have a look at the theatre for today's action.
14:34Just a little over 2.4 kilometres.
14:36Barbagallo Raceway, Wanneroo.
14:38We're 50 kilometres to the north of Perth, as Matty said at the top of the program.
14:41This is a place we've been visiting successfully for a long period of time.
14:44Seven corners.
14:45It's got a top speed of just over 250 kilometres an hour on that run down to turn seven,
14:50which is a great rollercoaster ride.
14:52We've already seen a pile of action there this weekend.
14:54Average speed just under 160 kilometres an hour.
14:57It is hard on tyres.
14:58It is hard on brakes.
15:00It's pretty smooth other than where you clobber the kerbs, and it always produces good racing.
15:05And because we're going into qualifying, we will make reference to the three sectors.
15:09The first of them just past turn five, and the second of them at the crest of the hill on the run down to turn seven.
15:14And Larco and Murph touched on that fascinating scenario that unfolded between Winkup and Winterbottom.
15:21The other big ticket item out of qualifying yesterday was David Wall.
15:25And boy, this was scary stuff.
15:28Coming down here, down the hill, down towards turn seven.
15:32So this is the on-board vision that takes your breath away.
15:40Wow.
15:41That is fast.
15:42That was 255 kilometres an hour, and he made contact with Ingle and a slight bump with Courtney.
15:48Even a day later, in replay, it stops me just looking at it because it's very quick as we just detail on the track, Matt.
15:57And once you're on the grass, you can't control the car.
15:59Totally out of control.
16:00And Russell Ingle got the five grid spot penalty for the next race as a consequence of weaving and being in the way of a fast car on the qualifying run for David Wall.
16:11David Wall was on a run, on a lap, that would have put him in the top five.
16:15So very unfortunate, but got away with what could have been a massive accident.
16:20And this has been something that's been spoken about on occasion.
16:23In fact, this weekend's pit reporter Greg Murphy had an occurrence in Adelaide last year where he got together with Jonathan Webb.
16:29And it's the business of the disparity of the speed of the cars as they come out of the pit lane and then try and find their space.
16:35These guys at the head of the field come out and they want to get on with it.
16:38And there are those that are still trickling at the back and we've seen plenty of congestion at different tracks.
16:43In particular, the shorter tracks becomes an issue.
16:46So Winkup got the job done yesterday.
16:48He's been looking very good in qualifying and they're clearly beginning to get their act together at the moment.
16:53There's the dual world MotoGP champion Casey Stoner who will be driving in the Dunlop Development Series again this weekend.
17:00Alberto on the fastest first sector, also now fastest second sector.
17:10So he'll pop to the top to Winkup Van Gisburgh and Winterbottom Lowndes Webb.
17:15Winkup's on quite a good lap also now.
17:17So this will put Alberto to the top with a 56.65.
17:21What you'll find is the tyre usage.
17:23Neil's been making the point through the weekend that the economy of how you use the tyres through the weekend is quite complex.
17:29You've got six sets, 24 tyres.
17:32And today with two 100k races, the guys probably need to stop in these races for fresh tyres.
17:38So to get through what has been qualifying yesterday for the 6060 Super Sprint
17:43and now two qualifying sessions back to back will be really indicative of what tyres they've got left.
17:49Winkup used an extra set yesterday to put himself onto pole position.
17:54Copy that.
17:55As Greg Murphy and Mark Larkham said, that was quite controversial.
17:57That was a bit of a free kick for Jamie Winkup when that happened.
18:03And he did a very, very good lap yesterday.
18:05He's currently at the top of the time sheets with a 56.38.
18:08Yeah, and a good indication of that tyre management you're talking about, Scaife.
18:12Lee Holdsworth in the Irwin Mercedes AMG just went out behind me.
18:17He went out on used tyres, came in, put another set of used tyres on and has gone out again.
18:21There's a little bit of that going on.
18:23Some new tyres just starting to come out on the pit lane.
18:25Remembering we've got another qualifying session coming on.
18:28Management of this very, very critical as we saw yesterday.
18:30A lot of cars will wait white to the death where there's some rubber goes down on the track
18:35looking for the optimum grip at the end of the session.
18:38I quite like the fact that they're a little bit tyre poor this weekend
18:41because it's really introducing a big question mark over it
18:44and I think how they roll out in the 100k races is going to be fascinating
18:47because it's right on the cusp.
18:49You might roll the dice, depending on track position, to try and stretch it
18:53but you could well be the walking wounded at the end
18:55or you come in and freshen it up, take the time penalty of the stop
18:58but then be very quick in the back half
19:00and of course the wild card and all that, as always, is the safety car.
19:03No evidence of it, you fed his STP safety car yesterday, Scaifey,
19:07but you'd be a brave man to say that you'd get through today's racing without it.
19:10Although the probability of intervention of the safety car here,
19:13it's a little bit lower than...
19:15We had a little chat amongst ourselves as we arrived at the circuit.
19:18We thought, oh yeah, this is a place where it's highly regular
19:21but it's about 50%.
19:22It's not that... not as much as you would think.
19:24I agree.
19:25Yeah, just backing up with Larko just sitting there.
19:27It's interesting, just talking to Barry Ryan from Erebus there
19:29and those guys are going to try and save a set of green tyres
19:32for one of the races this afternoon.
19:34So they've only got one set per qualifying session,
19:37new sets of tyres per qualifying session for this morning.
19:41Craig Landers has just gone out on a set,
19:42so he went out quite early on a brand new green set.
19:44He may have two sets per qualifying session,
19:47depending on if he chooses to try and save one for a race,
19:50a new set for the race or not.
19:52This is a pretty good lap now, Murph, that Jason Bright's on.
19:55He'll go to the top.
19:5744.51, second sector.
19:59He's got to beat a 56.3 and he does with a 55.70.
20:04Now that's the first, what I would call,
20:06proper indicative green tyre lap.
20:09That's not a bad number that he's punched out.
20:11Here's Will Davison responding in car number six.
20:14Jason Bright said yesterday that he had really good car pace,
20:17but once he found himself bottled up, there was nothing he could do.
20:19He had a big crack at Jamie Wynn Cup, but he said,
20:21I used too much of the tyre.
20:22He said, clear air's the key.
20:24Only look at Craig Lowndes' result for the evidence of that.
20:26He's also got a bit of a snuffle this weekend.
20:28The air filter's blocked.
20:29He's got a bit of a cold,
20:30but it didn't harm him too much yesterday when it came to lap speed.
20:35And Bright's going on with that second time around.
20:37So Craig Lowndes joins the list of 55.7, puts him in second.
20:41Chas Mostard on debut this weekend in the main game,
20:44slots into the top five as well.
20:47Let's see what Bright has done here.
20:49So that'll hurt that final sector and ruin that lap.
20:52And possibly...
20:53In the last corner, sorry.
20:55Hitting this map.
20:57No, you're right, mate.
20:58You're another tenth and a half up there,
21:00so that was looking good.
21:01So that's the right decision to pit.
21:03So we'll just sit now.
21:05Dean Fiore, one of the local competitors,
21:07is also now inside the top five.
21:09So qualifying for race 11,
21:11the first of back-to-back queue sessions,
21:13continues after this.
21:14We'll go back as qualifying continues here in the break.
21:23It's been an FPR attack on the timesheets.
21:26Alex Davison leads the way in the Gelbwen Falcon.
21:3055.4 has him on provisional pole.
21:33Then Mark Winterbottom, Will Davison and David Reynolds.
21:36So all four Falcons out of the FPR stable are top four
21:40with just under six minutes to go in this session.
21:46Todd Kelly last night.
21:48In our host position,
21:49James Moffat's doing a really good job.
21:51He's the fastest of the Nissans all weekend.
21:53I walked over and said to Todd,
21:54what you should do is grab all the stuff out of that one
21:56and put him in that car.
21:58Already, already he's 12th.
22:00I'm sure they've got whatever it is
22:02that James Moffat and Alex Somerset have been working on.
22:05It's definitely improved that car.
22:07We were laughing about it last night.
22:09Well, the FPR boys, three cars sitting at the moment.
22:11All three, Will Davison, Mark Winterbottom and Alex Davison,
22:14all going for a second set of greens.
22:17If they're going to use them now, I'm not 100% sure
22:19are they going to wait for the next session,
22:22but they look like they're ready to go.
22:23Lowndes, he's got another set of greens on as well,
22:26and we'll wait to see if they push back and go again.
22:28Yeah, and we're seeing this same trend, Murph,
22:30that we saw yesterday.
22:31Nearly the whole field now sitting in the pit lane.
22:34Obviously, everyone's going to wait, wait for the track.
22:36The thing that's being offset by that at the moment,
22:38there was shade on the track a little while ago.
22:40It'll be heating up as Craig Lowndes just departs pit lane.
22:42Had a quick look at their tyre stocks.
22:44Both Lowndes, Winkup and the FPR cars
22:46all have two more green sets each to use in the next
22:49qualifying session.
22:50So, great game.
22:52And just to explain for those of you that are not regular viewers,
22:55green tyres in the V8 supercar business equals brand new.
22:59So, don't get an ice cream headache over that one.
23:01So, they're all bright and shiny.
23:02It means they've got a lot of grip available to them.
23:04And how they are dealt out this weekend,
23:06in particular with today's two qualifying sessions
23:08and two 100km races where you may need a tyre stop,
23:12is going to be the big talking point.
23:14So, it looks like Lowndes has got some bright shiny stuff on there
23:17at the moment based on the way in which he is wriggling that car around,
23:20looking to make temperature not only on the tread face of the tyre,
23:23but also through the carcass of the tyre as well.
23:26And he'd be trying to squeeze some temp out using the brake pedals
23:29so the heat radiates from the wheel rim out through the tyre carcass
23:33so that he optimises temperature and pressure at the moment where he needs it.
23:38And as that temperature increases, then the pressure comes up.
23:42So, the second run there, you'll find a lot of the teams
23:45will have slightly changed the pressures from front to rear,
23:48maybe even just brought them up half or one pound
23:51to get the best run you can possibly get.
23:54Each tyre on the car will be a different pressure
23:56so that by the time you start your lap, just like you see Craig Lowndes now,
24:00you want the tyre pressures to be stabilised and the temperature to be up
24:04so that the green tyre grip is maximised.
24:07Lowndes is going to be hurt here.
24:09This is bad!
24:10That is bad.
24:11That's Slade who's just caught Lowndes.
24:14I need it to be out of the way then.
24:16Slow it right up.
24:17Yeah, lots of people out there who have no eyes.
24:20That was Jeremy saying lots of people out there who have no eyes.
24:24Yeah, well hopefully I have a close spot on the tyre.
24:27Yeah, and I've got to say that was the real danger.
24:29When all the cars were sitting in pit lane then
24:31and Craig Lowndes went out at the head of them,
24:33you always run the risk of going around
24:35and as you start your flying lap,
24:37the whole field is departing the pit lane,
24:39which is pretty well what happened.
24:41You've got to manage that stuff.
24:42No doubt, Larko.
24:43This is the replay.
24:44So this is turn four
24:45and Lowndes almost speared the back of Slade.
24:49So Slade was in the way.
24:50He needed to be off the throttle
24:51and allow Craig racing room to get over the hill by himself.
24:55This is going to be chaos.
24:57We saw it yesterday.
24:59I mean, I just don't understand why you wouldn't go one or two minutes earlier
25:03and have less traffic.
25:05There's only one car in the pit.
25:07Todd Kelly.
25:08And about 120 seconds ago, it was the other way around.
25:11Look at this.
25:12So everyone's off line.
25:14What I don't grasp is why you would drive on the race line at road car speed.
25:19I don't get that.
25:21If you're going to trickle along,
25:22well, I know why they're doing it because it's dirty on the other side,
25:25but for me it's just not the place to be.
25:27It almost needs to be regulated.
25:30Amongst all that traffic,
25:31James Moffat's found a way to get into the top ten.
25:34He's eight.
25:36Lowndes has got a sector split going
25:38that looks pretty handsome here at the moment.
25:40So maybe he's answering the question about the tyre
25:42because we thought it may have been flat spotted.
25:44Winkup up to the top at 55-4.
25:48Will Davison also on a very good lap.
25:52Minute and a half to go.
25:54And he goes to the top.
25:55Will Davison with a 55-2-9.
25:57That's a very smart lap.
25:59Maybe done here with Lowndes.
26:02Ooh, 55-3.
26:04So Lowndes up to second.
26:05That's a very, very good lap time.
26:07That's the fastest we've seen for the weekend.
26:0955-2-9.
26:10Lowndes, winkup.
26:11Alex Davison hasn't improved from the previous lap.
26:14He was warming up.
26:15So get ready for this
26:16because this last minute
26:17there'll be a flurry of change.
26:20As Matt said,
26:21James Moffat's gone from eighth now.
26:22He's 10th.
26:23He's actually 11th.
26:24McLaughlin's popped up into 10th.
26:26So Davison Lounge, Winkup,
26:28Alex Davison,
26:29Winnebottom,
26:30Courtney Reynolds,
26:31Van Gisburgen,
26:32Brian McLaughlin.
26:33So Winkup goes on with it here.
26:35We'll watch what happens
26:36as he crosses the control line.
26:37He's third at the moment.
26:39No improvement in the final sector.
26:41And Van Gisburgen's gone out on green tyres as well.
26:44Here's Will Davison,
26:45the provisional pole sitter at the moment.
26:46He's on a 55-2.
26:47That lap was a tenth slow.
26:49Now Bright's done a very good sector split.
26:51Watch for Bright here in the final sector.
26:53There he is on screen to the top.
26:55And Bright, he's done a 55-2-9
26:57for provisional pole with 30 seconds remaining.
27:00His teammates coming too on the timesheets as well.
27:03Fabian Coulthard was quick to the first sector.
27:05Will Davison also.
27:07Coulthard, no.
27:08He has so much trouble with the last corner, Matt.
27:1055-4-5.
27:11He was up at the second sector.
27:13Jason Bright is 47 ten thousandths of a second.
27:18That is a really good lap time.
27:20Fast for the weekend.
27:21So 55-2-9-0-1 plays 55-2-9-4-8.
27:2747 ten thousandths of a second clear.
27:31Bright to Davison.
27:32That's millimeters.
27:33Tiny little fraction of time between them.
27:37And if you converted it to distance,
27:38you'd be barely able to measure it.
27:40So the clock struck zero.
27:42The chequered flag is out.
27:43There are those still completing laps,
27:45including this man.
27:46Had a problem yesterday when the tire went flat
27:49down here at turn seven.
27:51Fabian Coulthard to Kiwi.
27:52This is his bogey corner.
27:54He's had trouble all weekend here.
27:56He would have been up on Bright on the previous lap
27:59and just can't make it break and get it turned.
28:01He's having brake stability issues.
28:03He goes to fourth with a 55-3-9.
28:06And displaces Wincup in the process.
28:08So punches Jamie back one position.
28:10So it's Bright, Will Davison, Lowndes, Coulthard,
28:13Wincup, Alex Davison.
28:14And there is the pole sitter.
28:16Nice job.
28:17Third pole for the season for Jason Bright.
28:24So that's qualifying, remember, for race 11.
28:26And they will come out pretty soon as well
28:29and do another qualifying session.
28:31In all the years that he's been coming here,
28:33Jason Bright, he's won here three times.
28:36First started racing here in 1998.
28:38This is his first pole here, Larko.
28:40Righty, yeah, first pole here, mate.
28:42We, funnily enough,
28:43we weren't probably watching you there, mate.
28:44And pop, whack pole position.
28:46Pole position, well done.
28:47You weren't watching.
28:48No, I wasn't watching you.
28:50Yeah, the car's been good all weekend.
28:52I wasn't really happy with second yesterday.
28:53I felt as though we could have done better than that.
28:55And we had good race pace.
28:57We just sort of lost a bit of track position there.
28:58So I think we've got a good car.
29:00Just got to make a good start now.
29:01And I think we can have a good race.
29:03Great job, mate.
29:04Good job, mate.
29:05Yeah, good job.
29:06And Will Davison on the front row for the first time this year as well.
29:09So Holden and Afford to start on the front row for race 11.
29:14There's your top 10.
29:15Alex Davison continues this good run.
29:17He qualified fifth yesterday and finished the race in that position.
29:20Chas Mostert just outside the top 10 with Scott McLaughlin.
29:24So the two youngsters just on the fringe of the top 10.
29:28Russell Ingle in 25th.
29:30Tim Blanchard and Alex Primer at the rear end.
29:32Scott Pye back out there in 24th.
29:34So another qualifying session.
29:36It's a quick turnaround.
29:37Back after this.
29:45So it's Jason Bright who takes the cash as the Armourall pole winner for race 11.
29:50Later on today.
29:52Before today, he'd started on the front row of the grid here at Barbagallo five times.
29:57And this is his first in position one.
30:01So $1,500 in it goes.
30:04And it continues a run of Holden starting from pole position here at Barbagallo Raceway.
30:10Eight straight now.
30:11Back to 2011.
30:15So they do it all again.
30:1615 minutes.
30:17Out they go again for race 12 qualifying.
30:23Hey guys.
30:24Yeah, just in the GR input.
30:26Alex Primer's car ran on to seven cylinders in that session.
30:28So he obviously didn't have a great qualifying session at all with where he was in the time.
30:32So they think it's a coil pack issue.
30:34So they're not rushing to look too panicked in there at the moment.
30:37So hopefully they've rectified that issue and he'll get back out there pretty soon.
30:40Might not hurt him too much, Murph.
30:42I remember years ago, Bridie dropping back onto seven cylinders in a race here.
30:46And because of that terrible tire degradation we talk about and the importance of getting power to the ground,
30:51it actually didn't hurt him, if I recall.
30:52I think he still ended up on the podium.
30:54Just talking about tire strategy we talked about earlier, it's playing out straight away.
30:58So Craig Lowndes sitting in his garage right now with a fresh set of rubber on.
31:02I saw all the Ford Performance racing cars go out with green rubber on.
31:05Alternatively, Jamie Winkup went out on used rubber.
31:08So you can see it playing out already.
31:10Yeah, it's a good point, Larko.
31:12We said at the start of the previous qualifying session that the way the teams use the 24 soft tires for the weekend.
31:21And some have got two sets for this session that they've kept.
31:24Some are keeping a green set, a brand new set for the race.
31:28That orange or amber light in the front window of all the cars indicates the soft tire.
31:35And that's the soft tire with a white sidewall marking, the Sport Max marking on the Dunlop control tire.
31:41And green, the reason they're called that is because they actually come out of the mould.
31:46You need to put mould release on the tire to get the tire out of the mould.
31:51And it has a shiny surface.
31:53And in the weird motorsport jargon, we've got the green label from day one.
31:59And as I said, using those tires now will be ultra important in terms of getting a clear lap.
32:05And all of the FPR cars have gone out, as the guys have mentioned, on the green tires.
32:10So Dave Reynolds, fast to the second sector.
32:14Alex Davison pops the top.
32:16Fabian Coulthard, good first run.
32:17And the troubles aren't done with yet for Alex Premmer.
32:20He's now under investigation for leaving pit lane without approval.
32:24I don't know what that means.
32:30That's what it means.
32:31The car has to be released by the category technical manager.
32:33So it's in the middle of a qualifying session.
32:36So Frank Adamson basically hasn't released it.
32:38And they will have taken it straight out to the transporter, I guess, to start the work on it to investigate what the issue.
32:43We'll put it back in the garage, taken out of the pit lane, put it back in the garage without the release.
32:48Scott Pye into the top five.
32:51He's just done a 56-2.
32:53And just on that, that's what happened to Russell Ingle here last year, if you recall.
32:56And there was a big clue about it as well for the same thing.
32:59And remember Russell had that grid penalty for his involvement in the David Wall issue.
33:06So he finished 25th, but he will start race 11 from the back of the grid.
33:11So that's on five positions.
33:12What do you do?
33:13Use your luck.
33:16Do you start with a medical car or what do you do?
33:19What do you do?
33:20We saw that at Sydney.
33:21That can be very risky sometimes.
33:23So there goes Craig Lowndes, yesterday's race winner.
33:26So he's just departed the pit lane for the first time now on green rubber.
33:30That's fresh rubber that Skatey was talking about.
33:32Now he's going to try and do a time now.
33:34If it's good enough, they'll park the car and keep this other set of green rubber I'm looking at now for the race, as Mark was talking about.
33:41Well done, Mark.
33:42So this will be interesting to see what they're prepared to do.
33:46Will they be happy with second?
33:47Will they be happy with third?
33:49Interesting play.
33:50On all this tyre analysis that's going on, one of the other things that was studied last night was the overview of the field,
33:56the way the tyres wore and tapered through the course of the racing yesterday.
34:00And as a group of cars, if you just take them in a bulk lot, it was the Ford Performance racing cars, which the core of them essentially in the field, they had pretty good numbers.
34:10So they were degrading their tyres less than some of the other key runners.
34:13So we'll watch for that today.
34:15Mark Winterbottom in the meantime has done a 55-3-0.
34:18Remember we saw a 55-2-9 for Jason Bright a previous session.
34:23So that is a real marker.
34:25That will take some beating because they were very high quality laps at the end of that session.
34:30We saw Will Davison and Jason Bright 47 ten-thousandths of a second apart.
34:35Winterbottom now 55-3-0.
34:37Dave Reynolds, Alex Davison 55-5-1.
34:41James Courtney a bit better job 55-7-1 has come up into fourth.
34:45The local Dean Fiore is fifth with a 55-7-6.
34:50Young Chas Mostert on debut in sixth position.
34:53We were riding on board with Chas just a minute ago.
34:56So Winterbottom currently leads.
34:59This is a great session.
35:00I love the last five or six minutes of this.
35:03So guys will come in shortly.
35:04They'll put their last set of tyres on.
35:07Have a look at this.
35:08Mark Winterbottom.
35:10He's in the box seat right now.
35:1155.3.
35:12That's fast.
35:13It'll take some beating here at Barbagallo.
35:20But we said that Mark Winterbottom's 55.3 would take some beating.
35:25It looks as though Craig Lowndes is prepared to take that challenge.
35:29Final sector of his lap.
35:30Two green boxes.
35:32And he goes to the top of 55-2-4.
35:36He won't be happy with that because that last corner was average.
35:40He missed the apex by a mile.
35:43So he will do a 55-1 if he did a good job.
35:47Scott McLaughlin in the meantime.
35:5055.3-2.
35:51Very good job from young Scott.
35:53He's still on a flying lap.
35:54This is not quite good enough to beat Winterbottom.
35:57I don't think.
35:58It's currently two hundredths of a second away.
36:01But Lowndes was on an absolutely perfect run.
36:04And braked for the last corner.
36:06And couldn't get a turn.
36:07He ended up running right out over the exit kerb.
36:10So Craig would be kicking himself a little bit.
36:12He knows that if he did a really red hot lap.
36:15That car would do a 55-1-5.
36:18Certainly a tenth better than where he finished.
36:20And the downside to that scapey.
36:22As we alluded to earlier.
36:23I see the new set of tyres.
36:24His remaining set have just come onto the pit lane.
36:26So he's not going to get to be able to save those for the race.
36:29Probably is a consequence of that little mistake.
36:31Yeah I think what will happen though.
36:32As we all know in qualifying.
36:34You just keep throwing solutions to the problem.
36:36And you'll deal with the race problem a little bit later on.
36:39Here's the boys inside the garage at Team BOC.
36:41So that time that you spoke about Mark of Craig Lowndes.
36:44Is just that whisker faster than the time achieved by Jason Bright.
36:47In the previous qualifying session.
36:49We've seen some wild images on the exit kerb at Turn 7.
36:52The last corner this weekend.
36:54There's a protective striker plate beneath the transaxle gearbox.
36:58and diffing these cars.
37:00And gee.
37:01They need to be made out of unobtainium.
37:03Because there's to be an inch thick and bulletproof.
37:06Because the amount of load that's bashing through the cars at the back on occasion.
37:11Is just staggering.
37:12More and faster.
37:13So very solid.
37:14If you could just put together the same sort of first sector as before.
37:17I think it's just that we're on cold tires.
37:19So yeah.
37:20We've got a plan for that now.
37:22It's Phil Key.
37:23Talking to Fabian Coulthard.
37:25And as we said.
37:28This has been the difficult corner for him.
37:30He really needs to use more road on the entry.
37:33Needs to be wider at the turning point.
37:36He can't keep the car stable.
37:38He's really struggling on the turn in there.
37:41This is Mauro Engel.
37:42Who's been the fastest in terms of qualifying of the Mercedes guys through the weekend.
37:47He was ninth yesterday.
37:48Doing a really good job.
37:50These guys have got engine upgrades for the weekend.
37:53They've changed the inlet manifold.
37:54They haven't got the fly-by-wire throttle system on them.
37:57With two throttle bodies.
37:58They've got eight individual butterflies.
38:01And a cable system that operates that manifold.
38:06That's a good job.
38:07Up to tenth.
38:08Fifty-five.
38:09Six-nine.
38:10Proving that yesterday's form was no fluke.
38:12So it's not too bad.
38:13There's Dave Stewart.
38:14Team manager at Erebus Motorsport V8.
38:17Ryan Madison to his left.
38:18And Ross Stone to his right.
38:21Betty Clemenco in the background.
38:23Owner of the team is Scott Pye.
38:26So massive amount of damage on that car.
38:30We haven't really talked a lot about that.
38:32But damage to the front rail.
38:33Damage, obviously, to the suspension.
38:35Crushed all the exhaust headers.
38:37Just ripped and tore stuff everywhere as it landed.
38:40Oh, he missed the apex at the last corner.
38:45It's such a cruel, it's such a cruel circuit this because you're on a great second sector.
38:51And then you get to the last corner.
38:52You need to break it so deep.
38:54And we've seen so many guys run wide and destroy their lap at the last corner.
38:58Yeah, looking at that car of Scotty Pye.
39:00As you know, when you have those sort of shunts, you can sort of repair them for this weekend.
39:03But that'll have to go back and have a really good hard look at, you know, disassembly.
39:07Because it's all the stuff you don't see that often gets damaged in those sorts of incidents.
39:11Yeah, no doubt.
39:12A lot of the time, you actually have to put those cars back on the jig to make sure that
39:17any of the crucial pickup points haven't moved just slightly.
39:20It doesn't take very much just to move from a damaged chassis rail, for instance, two or
39:25three millimeters so that the car then you have to compensate for the ride height based
39:29on little changes.
39:30So a lot of damage to that car over the Tasmanian incident and yesterday's wild ride on the main
39:37straight.
39:38I reckon there's more guys learning from the previous session on how clustered it was.
39:42More cars rolling out a bit earlier this time around in this session than what there was
39:46in the last one.
39:47There's a lot of cars absolutely exiting the pit lane now trying to get that last run.
39:52Some on new tyres.
39:53Actually, I'd say just about everybody's put a new set of tyres on for this run.
39:57James Moffat was one I talked about earlier.
39:59He's only having the one run on a new tyre.
40:01So it'll be interesting to see how he goes in this run this time around.
40:05Definitely more people out there at the moment, Murph, that have found an air gap.
40:09So this will work a little better.
40:10And, you know, 30 seconds, 60 seconds makes a huge difference in the traffic congestion
40:15and management.
40:16And really, the track condition's not going to be that different.
40:19You're going to be the guy on the track in the Sebastian Vettel last second of the session
40:23routine that they all try and pull.
40:25Yeah, exactly.
40:26I just, you know, we saw it last time.
40:28We've got so many guys affected by the traffic.
40:30Really good battle going on internally with James Courtney and Russell Ingle.
40:35They've done exactly the same lap time.
40:3755.71.
40:38They're 11th and 12th.
40:40Local Garth Tander is 19th.
40:4356.04.
40:44So he'll be on another set of tyres shortly.
40:46And he'll be looking to eclipse the Courtney Ingle lap time, which is just outside the 10.
40:52They brought some upgrades this weekend, the Holden Racing Team, to the geometry of the
40:57front of the car.
40:58And last night, Garth was particularly unhappy.
41:01Obviously, it's been a pretty tough day for him.
41:02He wasn't too thrilled about the way in which he performed.
41:05So his quote, not mine, will change everything.
41:07But I just intercepted a radio message from him before where he talked about a big improvement
41:12in the car.
41:13So if he does have some tyres up his sleeve and he can fire out there, we might see a better
41:16performance from GT.
41:17Well, there's the Craig Lamb strategy playing out in P1 still at the moment.
41:21He's just got out of the car.
41:23They had it sitting here on fresh rubber ready to go.
41:25They've decided to get out.
41:26Happy with whatever that's going to be.
41:28It's a pretty good time, Larko.
41:29So you'd be hard pressed to get much more.
41:32There was that little error that Mark spoke about that perhaps by comparison to burning
41:36off that set of tyres, you might win now and pay later.
41:40So having those green, those new tyres available to you later in the day could give you a better
41:44yield than another squeak of time right now.
41:46Chas Mostert into the 10.
41:48Good job.
41:49Seventh with a 55.519.
41:54Here comes Winkum.
41:57Less than a tenth of a second behind Lowndes.
42:00Remember Lowndes didn't do a good job at the final corner.
42:02So this may, and he does.
42:0455.24.
42:05Great job.
42:06Wow.
42:07That's an even tighter margin than the one we cracked on about before.
42:1037.
42:110.0037.
42:12So 37 ten-thousandths of a second between the teammates as opposed to 47 in the previous
42:18session.
42:19Yeah.
42:20That's enough.
42:22We're on board now with Mark Winterbottom.
42:25New livery for the FPR cars this weekend.
42:27They look much better.
42:28I like the complete black look.
42:31There's young James Small who's on the radio to Mark Winterbottom in the background there.
42:36Rusty French, one of the owners.
42:37Matt Nielsen in the centre.
42:39Tim Edwards behind, looking on, and Jamie's backed it off.
42:44So McLaughlin's really leapt up in this one to make his presence felt.
42:49He's currently in fourth position.
42:50Here's David Wall.
42:51Currently ninth.
42:52This is a good effort, and he was promising to do this yesterday before trauma struck,
42:58and we had that on-board shot from his car a little bit early on, the Motec data camera,
43:03the digital camera that's in that car.
43:04So he stays in position nine.
43:06He was a couple of tenths slower on that lap that we picked him up.
43:10So both Windcup and Lowndes are back in the pit lane.
43:13Here are both the Ford Pepsi Max crew entries,
43:16and Winterbottom's up on the numbers you can see on screen there at the moment
43:19with one corner remaining.
43:20The third sector, there's nothing on it.
43:22His teammate was well wide of the mark at the final corner.
43:25And I am very well behind.
43:27That was only fractionally slower for Winterbottom.
43:30Coulthard pops to fourth on that lap, displacing McLaughlin.
43:34And Bright, look at that, Bright is twelfth.
43:38Faster than the previous session.
43:4055.63.
43:42It's going to be tires, isn't it?
43:44Yeah.
43:45Alex Davison's just gone from ninth to sixth ahead of his brother.
43:49So time's done.
43:51Those still completing flying laps, however.
43:53James Moffat was one.
43:55He's down in 20th.
43:57That number's close enough to keep a very close eye on him.
44:00We only did he stop it in.
44:02It was right on the limit, wasn't it?
44:04I don't think he quite got it tucked in down there.
44:06Good job.
44:07That's C4.
44:08C4 and 600.
44:09So they're all out of it now.
44:16Which means that Jamie Winkup will have pole position for race 12.
44:21Yeah, we'll just grab a quick word with Craig Lance.
44:26I was watching your body language here, mate.
44:27You were fidgety.
44:28That was a hard call getting out of the car.
44:30But look, here behind us, there's the green set of tires.
44:32You have safes.
44:33Yeah, you are in good race shape and you know that.
44:35Oh, look, we are.
44:36And I think after yesterday, we're pretty confident.
44:38We know that the tire life of us now is a lot better than what we've had.
44:41So everything all leans in towards, obviously, a very good afternoon.
44:44But, of course, you never know.
44:46Like, we've got to get, obviously, a good start.
44:47I just said to JJ, I'd rather be on the outside here than the inside.
44:50So on the racing line.
44:52So second position, which I was fingers crossed, we can maintain that.
44:54Yeah, mate, just reflecting on the qualifying sessions.
44:56We just observed a lot of people, a lot of traffic, everyone going at the same time.
44:59You made that conscious decision in the first qualifying session to go out ahead of the pack.
45:04Looked really good.
45:05Sadly, you drove around.
45:06As you come around on the pit lane, everyone departed pit lane.
45:08You drove straight into the middle of it.
45:10Well, yeah, look, I think we were opting to try and do a slow lap.
45:13And, of course, I see the JJ.
45:14Let's see what the first corner of the first sector brings us.
45:17And, of course, that brought us a lot of traffic.
45:18So we had to do another cycle.
45:20And, of course, then we were a bit smarter in that second qualifying to wait.
45:23Let everyone do their running of their first set of tyres.
45:26As they're coming in, we can go out.
45:27We can cycle, do what we need to do.
45:30And, of course, with that, we've got our time, which is exactly where we needed to be.
45:33Looking forward to this afternoon, mate.
45:34We've crunched the numbers.
45:35We know it's going to be a tough, tough, difficult race.
45:37So good luck.
45:38Yeah, thank you.
45:39Should be a great one.
45:40So a front row start to finish the day.
45:42So that's qualifying for race 12.
45:44Jamie Winkup's fifth of the season.
45:46A personal best for David Wall.
45:47He's qualified 10th.
45:49Chas Mostard, again, just on the fringe.
45:51And Jason Bright, who will start race 11 from pole position,
45:54will start the last race of the day from 12th.
45:58It's a lot of racing coming your way, including, of course, the Dunlop series with Casey Stoner behind the wheel.
46:05So Jamie Winkup will pocket $1,500, courtesy of Armourall, for qualifying fastest for the last race of today.
46:16It means that he's got eight pole positions at this circuit, more than anybody else.
46:20He now goes ahead of the great Peter Brock on the list.
46:24And Mark Larkham is down in pit lane with our pole sitter.
46:29Mate, well done.
46:30I think four one-thousandths of a second.
46:33I guess you've got pole position.
46:34It doesn't matter by how much.
46:35Traffic's hard out there, isn't it?
46:37Yeah.
46:38Hey, I made a meal of it the first run.
46:39The car's radically different to yesterday.
46:41Although we were quick, we made some massive changes.
46:43So, yeah, I just didn't get it together.
46:45Got it together the second run.
46:46I'd love to be able to measure four hundredths.
46:48It's probably about an inch or so across the line.
46:50Well done, mate.
46:51Congratulations.
46:52Great to the bar for this one.
46:55They know how to put it to good use, don't they?
46:57That's 43 career pole positions for Jamie Winkup.
47:01Now, this was the issue.
47:02Greg Murphy's joined us in the box here for the Dunlop series.
47:04But, Murph, this was the issue for Jason Bright.
47:07That is an issue.
47:08It's a bit of an issue, right, mate?
47:09Absolutely.
47:10Jason did that on the first run.
47:11He got one lap and then snapped it off when he came out of turn one
47:14starting his second run.
47:15And that was obviously it.
47:16They couldn't get that fixed in time.
47:17And here they are.
47:18The boys are here going to get rid of that broken bit out of there
47:21and try and put a new knob on for him for the race.
47:24So, Jason Bright, remember, qualified on pole position for race 11.
47:28He will start race 12 from 12th spot.
47:31Jason Bright.
47:32Jason Bright from 12th spot.
