Recently a California man, Evan Davidson thought something was wrong when he saw his wife’s body at the mortuary.
The 73-year-old relayed his concerns to staff, telling them the body did not resemble his spouse of 51 years, but he was told she looked different due to the embalming process. The body was buried on March 1st despite Evan’s concerns.
Several days after the funeral, he received a phone call from the mortuary asking him to come in to identify another deceased body. When he arrived, another woman was in a panic, claiming the corpse she was viewing was not her mother.
Evan realized then that his wife’s body was the one at the mortuary and the hysterical woman’s mother had been buried. He has hired an attorney to look into the horrible mistake and plans to hold another funeral for his beloved wife.
Last year, a 41-year-old man from Brazil, who worked as a car washer walked into his own wake after being told by an acquaintance that his family believed he was dead. The confusion happened when another local car washer who bore a similar resemblance was murdered, and the 41-year old's brother mistakenly identified the body at the morgue
