00:00Does everyone have a love life this new year?
00:06British national Serenity found her serenity on the beautiful island of Siargao.
00:14Who is the luckiest one?
00:18No one else but our countryman who is a big Siargao, Melvin.
00:24But how did they bring their love to each other?
00:29I've always wanted to travel since I was like really young.
00:32I wanted to get out and explore the world and travel and see new cultures.
00:36Aside from her love to travel, there's a reason why she wants to travel the world.
00:42And I was doing like 14 exams in the space of one month and it was really intense.
00:47At that time, the break up of a long term relationship I was in at the time,
00:51I knew I wanted to go away and travel and see the world and get some time to myself
00:55to really like heal and move on and process everything that happened.
00:59That's why Serenity traveled to Southeast Asia to get some rest.
01:05She went to Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia,
01:13until she arrived in the Philippines.
01:17And one of the things that touched her heart was the beauty of Siargao.
01:22When I first visited here in like April-May time last year,
01:27I just love the island, I love the vibe, the people.
01:32This is where she met Melvin, a surfing instructor.
01:35Before I met Serenity, I used to go to any job.
01:44If I don't have a student, I apply for a job as a harvester.
01:52But when Serenity saw the world, it seemed to have a color.
01:58It's so beautiful. It's really beautiful.
02:01I feel like I'm just dreaming.
02:04That's where our relationship started.
02:07That's where our relationship started.
02:10We talked for a long time at the beach.
02:15I was trying to get a feeling from her, but I didn't show it to her.
02:24The next day, we went surfing.
02:26I was excited. I was always excited to wake up.
02:30At first sight, it's like love at first sight.
02:35And every day that they surf together, they get closer.
02:42There was a little bit of feelings there, but we were mainly just friends.
02:45We just clicked really well. We got along really well.
02:48But their love story started long time ago.
02:52Serenity traveled to Japan and Bangkok.
02:56When Serenity left and went to Japan,
03:05I lost my strength for almost a week.
03:12Obviously, me and Melvin ended up getting along better than I thought.
03:16And these feelings developed way quicker than I thought.
03:19I miss what we were doing.
03:22Especially his smile. He always smiles.
03:32After about a week, he was messaging me, asking me how I was, what I was doing.
03:37The whole time I was in Japan, I was Facetiming him every single day for like 4-5 hours a day.
03:42But their attraction was even stronger than the waves.
03:46When Serenity pulled Melvin back.
03:50I didn't expect all this to happen.
03:52When it did, I was like, I can't leave now.
03:55We've fallen in love. I don't want to go back to England.
03:58I'm just going to stay here for as long as I can.
04:00When I'm around Melvin, I'm always smiling and laughing.
04:05I don't know. It's just like a warm feeling.
04:07I always just feel good energy.
04:09Peace at peace and calm and relaxed.
04:12I just feel upbeat and I feel happy in myself.
04:16And I'm always smiling and laughing.
04:19This second chance, Melvin didn't let it pass.
04:23That's why he moved on to Serenity.
04:26But because of the difference in age, they did everything to understand each other.
04:32The way he pronounces his language.
04:35Like what he said, can you pass the water?
04:45What?
04:46What?
04:47Water?
04:48Is he done laughing?
04:49I just said, what?
04:51What water?
04:53Play, he said.
04:55Water.
04:56Water.
04:58I've been here, what, seven months?
05:00And I can speak probably like 50 words or less.
05:04But I try.
05:05I do try and I'm trying to learn.
05:07And I do always ask him like, how do you say this?
05:09What does that mean?
05:10I love you.
05:13That's what he taught me how to say.
05:15I love you in Tagalog.
05:17It's Tagalog, isn't it?
05:18All of this, they were able to overcome.
05:21That's why their status is to be in a relationship for two years.
05:26Because he's funny, he's kind, he made me feel really special.
05:31Got along so well and really clicked.
05:35But because they're different in gender and appearance,
05:43the two of them can't get past each other's eyes.
05:46But because they're different in gender and appearance,
05:49the two of them can't get past each other's eyes.
05:52In the online comments, a lot of people were asking,
05:56why did you choose her?
05:58It's just hard for me.
06:03But if they're waiting for an opinion from others,
06:07that's the agreement of their parents in their relationship.
06:13Especially Serenity's father from the UK,
06:16he flew to the Philippines to visit his son.
06:19They were like, you can love who you can love as long as you're happy.
06:23And he looks after you like they did not mind at all.
06:25And I was actually quite like relieved about that.
06:27If you go back to the Philippines,
06:29I'll show you how much I care about you and your son.
06:34Even though Serenity is still in the UK,
06:37to continue their studies,
06:40the two of them are still together forever.
06:44Melvin, I promise to always support you and be there for you.
06:48And I promise to always love you.
06:51Because Melvin and Serenity are like their love.
06:56It's not just for the island of Siargao.
06:59No matter where they go,
07:01or in other countries,
07:03they will remain strong.
